Not An Onion Parody:

A group of Boulder High School Commies who started a club called, Student Worker, is protesting the Pledge of Allegiance because of its “oppressive nature”. The President of the club is a little busybody named Emma Martens:

Martens said her group is concerned that the traditional pledge read daily at the start of second period classes takes away from school time. She also said the phrase, “one nation, under God,” violates the separation of church and state.

“Boulder High has a highly diverse population, not all of whom believe in God, or One God,” she wrote in an e-mail to the Camera.

“We didn’t think it was fair for the whole school to have to listen to it,” Martens said between classes today. “It’s disrespectful and in complete violation of the separation of church and state. It’s almost religious oppression.” (emphasis mine).

Before I address these inanities, here’s the alternative Pledge that she wrote:

“I pledge of allegiance to the flag and my constitutional rights with which it comes. And to the diversity, in which our nation stands, one nation, part of one planet, with liberty, freedom, choice and justice for all.”

GLAR! Note that she had to throw ‘diversity’ and ‘choice’ in there.

Now, in a perfect world, her high school Civics class teacher would give her the following assignment:

Find in the US Constitution, where the phrase, “separation of church and state” appears.

When she comes back empty handed, ask her to explain how the words,

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

translates to her constitutional rights being trampled on because she had to hear the word, God, at school?

Then he would ask her to do a research paper on real religious oppression as seen in most Islamic countries.

But this isn’t a perfect world, and her Civics teacher is probably the Marxist that filled her head with all this Commie BS to begin with.

  1. It’s disgusting isn’t it? Between that and the Al Quaeda threat do you ever consider sending your kids to Catholic school?
I want to, but really I just can’t afford it. It’s $350 a month per kid and that’s at the discounted rate.
Then I feel terrible because we have a $1000 in car payments a month and if I didn’t have those I could afford to send them. ugh

  2. Eh, Catholic schools aren’t exactly immune to Marxist thinking, either. Sadly.

I live in a fairly conservative suburb with very good public schools.

So I don’t consider it much.

I do worry about the lack of security in the schools.

  3. I must live in a bad area because our school are quite versed in lock-downs.
And sadly that’s very true about the Catholic schools. The Catholic homeschool groups I belonged to were just gnarly though.

  4. A few weeks ago I discovered through a conversation with my son that he did not say the pledge everyday before his 3rd grade class got started. I instantly went into crazy mode and sent him to school the next day with a mission. His only job was to ask the teacher why she didn’t have them say the pledge.

When I came home from work the next day I asked him about it he said she told him. He said that it was for religious reasons and not to ask about it again. I jumped on the computer and started doing some research to arm myself because I was going in the next day to confront her on it.

I gathered my stack of documents and went in with him and met with the teacher. I simply asked why she didn’t say the pledge and she gave me the typical left wing protest speech… Under God, it takes away from the day, it was her choice to do it or not, 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the phrase “one nation under God” amounts to a government endorsement of religion in violation of the separation of church and state, blah blah blah. I ate her for breakfast with my research and by the end of the conversation she agreed to have the students say the pledge every day.

    So know this..
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was overturned because the father who filed the suit did not have custody of his child at the time who he had filed for.

The ruling only applied for 3 schools in the Sacramento area school district.

The pledge must be student led.

Children must be given the choice to say it or not.

Those are the only rules for the pledge, at least in the state of Arizona. So go get ’em and remember, always stand up for yourself and your children, especially in the left-wing, liberal agenda driven school system who’s administrators think they can drive their nails into our kids heads while they have them locked in there.

  5. My kids start the day at school with the Pledge, every day, and I’ve never heard anyone say boo about it.

But if some rogue teacher did what your son’s teacher did, I’d do exactly the same thing.

You did good. You made a difference.

    His teacher’s young, I’ll bet.

  6. That guy was such scum. I remember the case because I lived in California at the time. He’s trying next to get “In God We Trust” off the coins. Michael Newdow’s his name. I’m as fond of him as I am the guy who’s been trying to take these two crosses down in San Diego. jerk

  7. Oh yes, Michael Newdow. The scumbag who tried to get rid of the Pledge in his daughter’s name. A daughter who eventually went public with her mother to say, she was a Christian, and he wasn’t doing it for her sake.

He was a little before his time with his anti-Christian, militant atheism. Now it’s all the rage.

  8. I am ever so thrilled with our resident atheist Philip Paulson in San Diego. The guy has been wasting tax money on this crap since I was a young girl. In fact Duncan Hunter has been trying to save it since this happened. It’s really a shame that Hunter doesn’t get the attention for presidency like I think he should. He’s done such a good job in San Diego.

  9. It’s always the same thing with these people, over and over again. And of course the schools are pretty selective about whose needs they’re sensitive to. Public schools are worthless. There used to be a policy in Texas of passing students to the next grade even if they failed because the schools were’nt teaching them anything and they were getting backlogged with students who had been left back. Not sure if that policy’s still around though.

  10. >“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

The Boulder kids don’t understand this part. Their teachers don’t either. The phrase was written as a response the The Church Of England, where government and the Crown (Henry VIII) had created an official state religion.

The Founders did not want that here.

The phrase indicates that the US Government will have no official opinion on religion, and the people are free to practice religion as they see fit.

“…or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” is always conveniently ignored by people like the Boulder Babies.

Was waiting to meet the principal over some other indiscretion and decided since I was already in deep shit, I might as well double down.

I didn’t get to say anything else on it for 4 years.

  14. Anything with “Worker” or “Solidarity” or whatnot has to be communist. Newsflash: Communism failed!

When I went to public school for kindergarten through second grade (the few years before moving to Pakistan), we said the Pledge of Allegiance every morning. And this was a class with Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and Hindu kids. One of my best friends, who lived two houses away, was Hindu. Neither my parents nor her parents ever objected to the Pledge of Allegiance.

It saddens me when such young people become so corrupted so quickly. Why aren’t they busy playing or having fun?
