Now that seven students have taken credit for hundreds of fake, racist posters that targeted Islamo-Fascist Week at George Washington University, the conservative group, The Young Americans Foundation is calling on the university to expel them.
“Vicious personal attacks levied on students are intolerable, and should not go unpunished,” Ron Robinson, president of the Young America’s Foundation, wrote to GW President Steven Knapp.
In a letter (downloads PDF) obtained by The Washington Times, Mr. Robinson cited a statement Monday by GW Student Association Executive Vice President Brand Kroeger, who said he “would support expulsion” of students responsible for distributing the “heinous” posters.
As Muslim students recoiled in horror at the posters, that said “Hate Muslims? So do we!”, the Young American Foundation was immediately blamed by university officials.
Adam Kokesh, and the six other culprits defended their actions in a letter to Hatchet, the School newspaper, calling the hoax, a “creative political action”:
“We exposed the upcoming Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week … for the celebration of racism it is,” the students wrote. “[T]he hyperbolic nature of the [poster] was aimed at exposing Islamophobic racism. … We hope that as a community we can come together to oppose the true racist propaganda that we initially set out to expose.”
In the meantime, GWU officials, seeming a bit behind the learning curve, don’t seem ready to take any disciplinary action:
“We are making progress in the investigation and will have an updated press statement when the investigation is concluded,” said Tracy Schario, director of media relations for the university.
What’s left to investigate, people? The guilty parties already confessed!
UPDATE:
Major food fight on H&C! Two YAF students against Kokesh.

UPDATE (10/13):
No expulsion of the hoaxsters planned.
George Washington University President Steven Knapp has no plans to take disciplinary action against a group of students involved in an anti-Muslim flier hoax, a university spokeswoman said yesterday.
When it was originally believed that the conservative YAF students were responsible for the offensive fliers, Knapp said ‘we’re not going to tolerate it’.
He changed his tune when it was discovered a liberal group was behind the hoax.
As Emily Litella would say….”Never mind!”

Is that lib-speak for “we won’t do anything to the perpetrators because they are fellow liberals/socialists/fascists”?

More like “if we can just hold out long enough, maybe everyone will forget all about this and move on to the next media-driven ‘outrage-of-the-week’, allowing us to quietly sweep this entire incident under the rug.”

If the YAF members had actually been responsible for those posters, does anyone doubt GWU would have kicked their asses out?

[...] guess is that it’s the work of some wily conservatives who are testing tolerance levels of Campus administrators who thus far have taken no disciplinary action against the liberal [...]
