Gore Derangement Syndrome???

Oh brother.

Paul Krugman sees the fact that many conservatives believe that there were more worthy candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize, and are engaging in a certain amount of snark about Gore’s win, as signs of Gore Derangement Syndrome.

If heavy sighs, and eye rolling are a signs of derangement, then I guess we’re all guilty.

Gore included.

But otherwise, color me bemused.

Gore’s ‘moment’ won’t last forever. Time will prove that his prognostications were overwrought, and 10 years down the road, liberals will have invented some other bugaboo that we all have to get hysterical about. You just watch and shake your head.

Yet, Krugman wonders what it is about Mr. Gore “that drives right-wingers insane”?

Partly it’s a reaction to what happened in 2000, when the American people chose Mr. Gore but his opponent somehow ended up in the White House. Both the personality cult the right tried to build around President Bush and the often hysterical denigration of Mr. Gore were, I believe, largely motivated by the desire to expunge the stain of illegitimacy from the Bush administration. (emphasis mine).

I hate to burst Krugman’s bubble, but that paragraph right there is as sure a sign of BDS as I’ve seen in print. It’s the actual source of BDS. The “root cause”, as they say. This is projection as I’ve never seen it before.

Do we have to revisit the 2000 election after all this time, Krugman? Do we really?

Gore won (barely) the popular vote, 50,999,897 to 50,456,002.

Bush won the electoral vote 271 to 266.

The electoral votes decided the election. That’s how it works.

The fact that so many Democrats still can’t get over this is just sad, at this point, and a sure sign of Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Pathetic, really.

Jules Crittenden, Michelle Malkin, and Gateway Pundit have more about this supposed “Gore Derangement Syndrome”.

Paul Krugman calling someone crazy is like me calling someone clumsy.

Or ugly, Dave. Don’t forget ugly.

The reason that Gore annoys so much is that he’s an educated man who has resorted to literally preaching something that isn’t particularly rational.

I don’t care that much about him even now that he’s been benighted as a Nobel Peace Prize Winner, but I don’t want to have to listen to him shout like an Elmer Gantry figure.

The MSM’s credibility is already drowning. Why are they seizing the anchor of Al Gore and Global Warming in a death grip? It’s guaranteed to drag them under even faster.

Good post, Deb. Thanks for posting the numbers from 2000. I honestly had forgotten the margin of the popular vote and wrongly thought it had been 1-2 million. Eh, if it had been a major concern I would have gone to the same page myself but still…

Little more than half a mil, huh? Pathetic for an incumbent coming out of a popular administration (at that time). Of course my favorite was his losing his own home state. That was sweeeeeeeet! :)

I wouldn’t go that far to call him educated. He may be literate but he believes he is far more intelligent than warranted by the facts of his educational achievements (failures).
