Bridge Playing Bimbos

A team of women who represented the United States at the world bridge championships in Shanghai last month, is now facing sanctions for displaying a crudely lettered sign, scribbled on the back of a menu, that was held up at an awards dinner, saying: “We did not vote for Bush”.

You’ve all seen the picture, by now.

Their rational for this awkward bit of polispeak?

“What we were trying to say, not to Americans but to our friends from other countries, was that we understand that they are questioning and critical of what our country is doing these days, an

d we want you to know that we, too, are critical,” Ms. Greenberg said, stressing that she was speaking for herself and not her six teammates…

They are questioning and critical of what our country is doing these days?

Really?

Someone please inform these over-aged bimbos that most “other countries” have been trending toward pro-American, pro-Bush governments.

To wit:

John Howard of Australia, a Conservative who’s served four terms, and is only now facing a tough re-election because his opponent promises to be more fiscally conservative.

Angela Merlel, Chancellor of Germany, from the Centre Right Party, who has been compared to Margeret Thatcher, and came to power in 2005, after coming out in favor of the Iraq Invasion, and accusing Chancellor Gerhard Schröder of being anti-American.

Nicholas Sarkozy, the new President of France, whose nickname is Sarko the American.

Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of Britain who claims indignantly, that Britain. (not France!) is America’s closest ally.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, just re-elected pro-American Danish Prime Minister, and staunch supporter of President Bush and the War On Terror.

Yeah riiight, they hate George Bush.

What about Eastern Europe?

Nope, they’re even more pro-American than the ones mentioned above.

Really, the only “other countries” I can think of who despise us are our enemies.

Wow, aren’t they brave condeming Iran and its practise of murdering homosexuals, the rude Chavez, the mass murderers Kim and bin Laden. What? Oh, they’re just running down their own country while on foreign soil. Must be Democrats.

Rough looking group. The one on the right is downright scary.

Who will they hate when Bush is gone, and not much changes?

  3. Burt Stern Says:

What do these comments have to do with the right of free speech? Or isn’t free speech important to you any longer?

  4. nicedeb Says:

I think free speech is great.

Did I say something to make you think, otherwise?

As far as I can tell, nobody has been saying these ladies should be denied the right to speak.

But, I sense a theme with libtards:
when they scream and act like fools, it’s “truth to power”, noble and brave (example: Olbermann, Keith). But when a conservative mocks said lunacy, it’s creeping fascism.

  6. nicedeb Says:

He might want to take up his free speech concerns with the United States Bridge Federation who are considering sanctioning the bimbos with a year-long ban from competing:

“This isn’t a free-speech issue,” said Jan Martel, president of the United States Bridge Federation, the nonprofit group that selects teams for international tournaments. “There isn’t any question that private organizations can control the speech of people who represent them.”

So true, if I’ve seen it once, I’ve seen it a thousand times.

Doesn’t our freedom of speech concern you?
