Heartache: Cindy Sheehan Booed At Rose Parade

There had been high hopes to turn the this year’s Rose parade in Pasadena, into a successful “peace event”:

Calling themselves the White Rose Coalition, a name invoking the German resistance group that opposed Hitler during World War II, a convergence of protesters including anti-war icon Cindy Sheehan planned to stage “non-violent protests and demonstrations throughout the Rose Parade,” according to a press release

“Starting at 10:15 am [PST],” states the release, “the peace and impeachment activists will march down Colorado from the Norton Simon to the east steps of Pasadena City Hall…where Cindy Sheehan and other peace activists will hold a press conference on impeachment and the Iraq War at 11 am. Visual props will be gathered there and part of the procession.”

But things didn’t go exactly as planned for these valiant foes of the Bushitler regime.

Thousands cheered as the floats rolled by at the parade. But they had nothing but boos for “Peace Mom”, Cindy Sheehan:

Two groups were protesting at the parade. Dozens of war protesters led by “Peace Mom” Cindy Sheehan staked out spots across from television cameras, hoisting signs reading “Impeachment is Patriotic.” The protesters were booed by parade watchers sitting in the grandstand.

“This is not the occasion for this,” said Mary Feichtel, 63, of Florida.

The group then walked down the parade route after the event and gathered at Pasadena City Hall where Sheehan assured fellow protesters that “they didn’t ruin anybody’s parade, [people] got to see the truth.”

Mother Sheehan needs to make a New Year’s resolution to stop making an ass of herself in public. I know it’s a lot to ask, but what the hell…
