Obama Says His Ad Blitz On Christian Radio Stations “Not A Political Strategy”

Snort.

Christian radio stations are broadcasting adverts in which Barack Obama describes how he let Jesus in his life as he knelt before a cross in a Chicago church 23 years ago.

“I felt that I heard God’s spirit beckoning me,” the Democratic nominee says, “I submitted myself to his will, and dedicated myself to discovering his truth.”

Yeah…What was the name of that church he went to again, and the name of his pastor?

“I won’t be fulfilling the Lord’s will unless I’m doing the Lord’s work”.

Neat. So what does he think the Lord’s will is regarding partial birth abortions, I wonder?

“It is not part of a political strategy,” he insisted. “I say it because I believe it – I’ve always believed it. This is the work we are called to do as Christians.”

REALLY???

Call me cynical…but I’m gonna have to call BS on that.

And call me naive…but are “we the peoples’” memories supposed to be so short, that we can’t remember just a few months ago, when the dismaying details about his Black Liberation Theology church, TUCC, and its insane pastor, Reverend Wright came to light? Have we forgotten that the question of why on earth this man continued to practice his Christian faith at this lunatic church for twenty years has not been answered?

Does Obama really want to revisit all of that?

Apparently he believes that his inherent charms and powers of persuasion will be able to steal away some of the traditionally Republican leaning Christian vote. Thus far in this election season, Christian voters favor McCain over Obama 44% to 27%. (Which is still way too close as far as I’m concerned).

I wonder if Planned Parenthood’s recent (and totally unsurprising) endorsement of Obama will impress these voters he’s trying to woo?

At any rate, conservative Christians aren’t exactly rolling over for this con artist. The Christian Defense Coalition is targeting Obama with a series of its own ads:

“Senator Obama talks about bringing hope, faith and change to American politics. We now see this is all just political ‘doublespeak.’ One of his top priorities as President would be protecting abortion rights and even expanding them. If elected, Senator Obama would become ‘The Abortion President,’ with the most extremist policies on abortion of any President in history.

“Senator Obama’s views on abortion are so radical that he even wants American citizens to pay for them. This would include Catholics, Evangelicals and all people of faith. He would also expand abortion rights through his passionate support of The Freedom of Choice Act.

“The Christian Defense Coalition will be working diligently over the next 5 months before the November elections to educate people of faith, especially Catholics, that Barack Obama wants them to pay for abortions. This is not a candidate who is concerned about social justice, hope and equality. Rather, this is candidate who will continue the violence and pain of abortion and refuse to end this tragic war against America’s women and children.”

Obama is already trying to move to the center on abortion, but his 100% NARAL rating gives the lie to his efforts.

Well, he’s got an uphill battle on this front, but I guess he figures, “What the heck, just a few of these redneck religion clingers may be all I need to win at the end of the day”. So he’s going for it.
