How Obama Fights

Down and dirty, that’s how.

As Obama, himself said, “I don’t intend to lose this election. “John MCain doesn’t know what he’s up against, right now”.

Even back In 1996, during Obama’s first race for office, as he sought a Chicago Senate seat, he used nasty, behind the scenes, hardball tactics to eliminate his Democratic competition:

As a community organizer, he had helped register thousands of voters. But when it came time to run for office, he employed Chicago rules to invalidate the voting petition signatures of three of his challengers.

The move denied each of them, including incumbent Alice Palmer, a longtime Chicago activist, a place on the ballot. It cleared the way for Obama to run unopposed on the Democratic ticket in a heavily Democrat district.

“That was Chicago politics,” said John Kass, a veteran Chicago Tribune columnist. “Knock out your opposition, challenge their petitions, destroy your enemy, right? It is how Barack Obama destroyed his enemies back in 1996 that conflicts with his message today. He may have gotten his start registering thousands of voters. But in that first race, he made sure voters had just one choice.”

Now as his opponents bring up uncomfortable truths about his past, what does he do? More nasty, behind the scenes, hardball: He writes threatening letters to TV stations, pressuring them not to run the ad, and writes to the DOJ demanding that a donor to the 527 group that produced the ad, be prosecuted.

The Obama camp calls NRO’s mild mannered Stanley Kurtz a “slimy character assassin”, stronger words than Obama ever had for Ayers.

As others have said, this sort of thuggish behavior doesn’t bode well for an Obama administration.

The man is dangerous.

UPDATE:

RE: Stanley Kurtz’s appearance on Milt Rosenberg’s radio show:

Staying true to his radical instincts, Obama declined to have a campaign rep. appear, but instructed his minions via email to besiege  Milt Rosenberg’s radio program in Chicago, and try to discredit Kurtz.

WGN in Chicago has made a stream of the radio show available online, here.

I haven’t had time to listen to it yet, myself, but apparently even the seasoned 30 year radio Institution Rosenberg found what transpired stunning.

UPDATE II:

Michelle Malkin has more about this outrage at NRO:

The “Obama Action Wire” supplied Rosenberg’s call-in line and talking points like this:

Tell WGN that by providing Kurtz with airtime, they are legitimizing baseless attacks from a smear-merchant and lowering the standards of political discourse. . . . It is absolutely unacceptable that WGN would give a slimy character assassin like Kurtz time for his divisive, destructive ranting on our public airwaves.

Ranting???

Please download and listen to the podcast of that Kurtz interview. I’m not kidding…There are few people in public discourse more mild mannered and soft spoken than Mr. Kurtz.

These Obamabots are complete basket cases, are they not?

  3. Well okay, Deb – I guess I can accept that:)

As long as you didn’t “cry so hard I cried my eyelashes off”, ala Oprah. That is just unacceptable!

  4. Deb,
Let’s not forget his pals in the Chicago media (Tribune?)suing to get Ryan’s “sealed” divorce records opened in 04 to effectively kill his chances for the senate.

I’m wondering if he has anything on McCain but seriously doubt he’ll be able to run these tactics again. McCain has been in too many contests and vetting processes. I guess this explains Obama’s pitiful attempts at class warfare raising the house issue.
