Why The Obama Birth Certificate Issue Is Legitimate

We can add The American Thinker to the growing number of blogs writing about this issue.

Does this Barack Obama birth certificate issue bug you because, although improbable, it’s possible that he’s not a natural born citizen, isn’t eligible to be President under the Constitution, and this issue could be bigger than Watergate — or any other “gate” in history?
Are you afraid that if you were even to raise the subject with your friends that they will think you wear a tinfoil hat, because Factcheck.org, the final arbiter of truth in the universe, said so?
Are you with the news media, and after spending so much money to get Barack Obama elected, you’d hate to ruin your investment?
Are you a talk radio host who thinks that if you say the burden of proof needed to demonstrate one is eligible to be Commander in Chief should be at least as high as, oh, say, the level to be eligible for Hawaiian homestead status (see 1.F. below), that you’d be forced to give equal time to someone who disagrees?
Are you a conservative, libertarian, or any conscientious constitutionalist from any ideological side of life, who’s convinced something’s not right, but you’re afraid your reputation might be tarnished because, after all, this could be one big Saul-Alinsky-style set-up, and the joke would be on you?
Fear not!  Joe the Farmer has prepared an outline showing that no matter how this issue is ultimately resolved, you have legitimate concerns, and that Barack Obama should, simply out of respect for the nation he was elected to lead, disclose the sealed vault copy of his birth certificate.
Conclusion:

The question not being asked by the holders of power, who dismiss this as a rightwing conspiracy, is what’s the downside of disclosing?  This is a legitimate issue of inquiry because Barack Obama has turned it into one.  The growing number of people who demand an answer in conformance with the Constitution are doing their work; the people’s watchdogs aren’t.

Yeah, I found the patent refusal to render the case moot in Berg by the inexpensive and transparent act of providing the birth certificate to be a curious thing. Instead they spent the money on resisting the challenge. If he governs the same way, I expect much of his Presidency to be expensive and pointless.

  2. Antonio Sosa Says:

Americans were FOOLED. Almost everything about Obama is FAKE, including possibly his birth certificate. The Obama image was manufactured by a very expensive campaign, financed with hundreds of millions of dollars. Many of those millions were donated by U.S. enemies such as George Soros.

Although the mainstream media and the left, manipulated by Marxists and U.S. enemies, hid important facts and presented only the Obama image they wanted Americans to buy, it’s obvious that, like his parents, mentors, relatives, friends and associates, Obama is a Marxist who hates America.

Many Americans turned out to be as clueless as the most ignorant Venezuelans, Bolivians and Ecuadorians who believed in CHANGE and YES WE CAN and now see that CHANGE means change toward Marxism, loss of freedom and rights, and greater poverty, despair and corruption. And YES WE CAN means Marxists like Castro, Chavez and Obama CAN fool people.

It seems Soviet defector Yuri Bezmenov was right when he warned that, through media manipulation, Americans would be brainwashed and would allow their country to be taken over by Marxists: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/k6KUDv1wzraWhwlBt1

If Obama does not have a legitimate U.S. birth certificate, the Court must decertify the election.

  3. John Says:

I’ll grant you that Obama isn’t helping squelch this by releasing certain documents, but I’m still not buying that there is any “there” there yet.

“If Obama does not have a legitimate U.S. birth certificate, the Court must decertify the election.”

Not unless you want SCOTUS to actually do what leftists accused it of doing in Bush v. Gore: ignore the Constitution and steal an election. If — and I stress the word “If” since I remain highly skeptical of all this — Obama is deemed ineligible because he is found not to be a “natural born” citizen, than Vice President-elect Joe Biden becomes President per the 20th Amendment. Sad, but true. There are no Mulligans or “decertifications” of the Nov 4th elections.

  4. William Says:

Grasping at straws. One thing we do know for certain is that McCain was born outside of the USA (Panama). The question of McCain’s status as a ‘natural-born’ citizen was apparently significant enough that the Senate affirmed his citizenship status by a resolution passed this April. If there is any question with Obama, I suggest they do the same.

  5. Blackiswhite, Imperial Agent Provocateur Says:

I think you should re-read the 20th Amendment.

“or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified”

That says to me that if Obama can’t produce the birth certificate, then we get Slow Joe until an election can be held.

  6. Wickedpinto Says:

but I’m still not buying that there is any “there” there yet.

    Any “There?” THERE?! It’s a Consti-fucking-tutionional-fucking-requirement!!!!

GRANTED!!!! I do believe obama was born in hawaii, cuz his dad was from a poor, crappy healthcare having nation, and no way in hell will his entitled mother crank out a kid in kenya, but there is some dirty pool playing here.

Exactly how it is playing out? I don’t know. I believe Obama IS a natural born US Citizen, however, there is some dirty shit going on.

I LITTERALY! carry a notorized copy of my Birth Certificate with me, I LITTERALY carry my original copy of my dd-214 with me, I LITTERALY carry most of my important personal information with me wherever I go.

Because sometimes it’s necessary for us normal people, and I hate having to turn around.

  7. Americaneocon Says:

Amazingly, the President-Elect of the United States has a real legitimacy problem.

    Anyway, more politics later.

    Have a great holiday! Yum!

    Happy Thanksgiving, all.

  9. Dave in Texas Says:

I still think the far more plausible reason is that it merely contains something embarrassing to the narrative, like first name “Barry” or race listed as “white” (given the year, and that dad wasn’t around).

  10. nicedeb Says:

I don’t know why his race listed as white should matter, either, unless he’s…you know…race obsessed. Who cares?

Everybody already knows he went by Barry as a child, so I don’t know what would be so embarrassing about that, that would induce him to spend so much time and money to cover it up.

….except the fact that he would have had to have changed his name to a Muslim name on his own as an adult, which would help fuel the rumors that he’s a closet Muslim….in which case, there’s a whiff of, “thou protest too much” to it.

  11. Cathy Says:

I still embrace a healthy dose of skepticism. I wish Obama would simply come clean. It would make it easier for me to settle into some level of respect for him. But no matter what the truth is on this one, Obama is proving to the world just how arrogant he is.

Arrogant people are crappy leaders too, just sayin’.

    Happy Thanksgiving, y’all.

  12. John Says:

“That says to me that if Obama can’t produce the birth certificate, then we get Slow Joe until an election can be held.”

An interesting interpretation, but not one which is supported by the text. That passage is referring to the Electoral College and Congress, not a repeat of the general election or rather a repeat of choosing Electors. If Obama didn’t qualify for whatever reason than Biden would become president. Now, there is always the possibility that the Electors could choose someone else but such would be completely unprecedented.

  13. John Says:

    It’s a Consti-fucking-tutionional-fucking-requirement!!!!

Indeed, yet one that I do not believe Obama has violated. Could I be wrong? Of course. Yet this is an extraordinary claim which requires a significant amount of proof in order to be taken seriously. Look, I voted against Obama. I didn’t want him to become president. The GOP has suffered a humiliating defeat, largely deserved but I wish it had happened after the war was concluded. The voters decided otherwise. Yet if the GOP is ever to reform itself and get back into the good graces of the electorate again it cannot spend the next 4-8 years engaging in what right now appears to be nothing more than Trutherism. I despise that from the Left and am not fond of it on the Right either.

  14. John Says:

“I wish Obama would simply come clean. It would make it easier for me to settle into some level of respect for him.”

Agreed. This shouldn’t be an issue and I am finding it to be a very uncomfortable one. If I had to hazard a guess as to worst that could be here, perhaps his birth was similiar to my own which would raise questions but doesn’t make him ineligible. Of course that would mean his campaign was caught in a lie about him being born in Hawaii which is embarassing but nothing he can’t overcome. I hope this is all squashed soon and we can move on to more important matters.

  15. nicedeb Says:

    These are big ifs, but:

If it were proven that Obama was not a natural born citizen before the Electoral college votes, wouldn’t Obama/Biden be disqualified and McCain would be left with the most electoral votes?

If it’s proven after the Electoral College votes, then we get slow Joe?

    I keep hearing different things.

  16. Blackiswhite, Imperial Agent Provocateur Says:

And how do you come by your interpretation of the words? I do this for a living, so I’m really curious how you came to your interpretation.

  17. John Says:

“And how do you come by your interpretation of the words? I do this for a living, so I’m really curious how you came to your interpretation.”

Great. Then it should be relatively easy for you to provide an amateur like myself something in support of your interpretation.

  18. John Says:

“If it were proven that Obama was not a natural born citizen before the Electoral college votes, wouldn’t Obama/Biden be disqualified and McCain would be left with the most electoral votes?”

Just Obama would be affected, not Biden, since the Electors vote for prez and veep separately. As for whether McCain would be left with the most electoral votes, I could be wrong but the 12th Amendment would seem to indicate yes. We could have the same situation Jefferson faced with the prez and veep being of different parties!

If it’s proven after the Electoral College votes, then we get slow Joe?

    Sadly, yes.

  19. oh21 Says:

    “Reality is self-induced hallucination.”

“The dogma affected will never reason effective.”

What is best for all US, EU, RU…?

What is best for me, you, I…? Does not fycking matter, the next day.

“Do you wish to rule or be ruled?” is bestial and primitive.
“Do you wish to live and let live?” is simple and parochial.
“Do you wish to be the best and help others be their best?” is human.

When you are your human best, you help other folks become their best. Anything less from a human is a show of far less than what is best, and indicates a mentally and emotionally cripple human.

If you do not understand and/or feel what I said above is true, then you are an idiot or a dogma-reasoning (answers provided) adelophobic.

You last name can be Carter, Reagan, Hitler, Clinton, Bush, Nero… even Christ, Joan, Theresa, or Obama. All I want to see is are you for humans being their best? I try, but fail, then try again, but I am always an imperfect atheist, Thank Godddd!

  20. geoff Says:

Anything less from a human is a show of far less than what is best, and indicates a mentally and emotionally cripple human.

Naive and simplistic. The obvious flaw lies in value systems: everybody’s ranking of “the best” differs, and those differences cause conflicts. Many “bests” are trivial and/or unproductive.

You should continue in your struggle to become the best at political philosophy, no matter how daunting it may seem.

  21. Blackiswhite, Imperial Agent Provocateur Says:

Great. Then it should be relatively easy for you to provide an amateur like myself something in support of your interpretation.

If you insist. Pay attention. If you make me repeat myself, then I’ll send you a bill for an hour of my time at my typical hourly rate.

“or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify,”

Such a failure might be the inconvenient revelation that Obama was not a natural-born U.S. Citizen.

“then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified”

See, most people who make laws aren’t dummies, most recent Congresses notwithstanding, and the use of the words “shall act” rather than “shall serve” imply that the job wouldn’t be Slow Joey’s forever, only “until a President shall have qualified”. How does one qualify to become President? One becomes elected.
If the drafters intended to simply let the electoral college, or God Forbid, Congress to decide, they could have, and would have said so.

  22. Blackiswhite, Imperial Agent Provocateur Says:

If there is any question with Obama, I suggest they do the same.

This Senate resolution, like so many others, means very little, as it simply confirmed an already uncontrovertable fact: John McCain was born to Citizen parents in the Canal Zone, which was, at the time of his birth, a United States Possession, so like any child born in a foreign nation, but in a place treated in law or in treaty as US soil, he is for legal and symbolic purposes, a natural born US Citizen. Can we say the same for Barry the Blessed™? Not yet, as his modus operendi seems to be to obfuscate and dissemble, rather than simply pony up the necessary proof and dispell the rumors once and for all…much the same way anyone who believes in Hope and Change would.

  23. Mal Says:

Hahahahaha and I thought I was having serious disagreements and discussions with respectable American conservatives! You’re a birther nut as well? The internet has a lot to answer for! You silly bunch of no-hopers – get a life!

  24. nicedeb Says:

Yeah right, Mal. If this is how you conduct yourself with “respectable people” you have disagreements with, I wonder what you’re like with the ones you don’t respect.
