I’ve been making these for years. They’re great for those gift exchanges at school, where your child needs to bring 22 small items to pass out to his/her classmates. All of my kids have helped me make these ornaments for this purpose, at least once.

Materials:
Cinnamon sticks (Get these in the craft aisle, not the grocery aisle…much cheaper).
Pipe cleaners (Christmas colors)
Mini pom poms (Christmas colors)
White paint
Black sharpie
Hot glue
Ribbon
Any Christmas themed doodad, like stars (pictured) or mini wreaths, bowties….be creative. I just used stars, this year, because that’s what I had on hand.
First off, if you’ve got extra long cinnamon sticks, break them in half. Poke the pipe cleaners into the holes at the top of the stick. Some of them will have to be glued into place, if it’s not a tight fit. Paint the whites of their eyes with white paint, and add black eyeballs with sharpie after the paint dries. Hot glue a little pom pom nose. Don’t worry if you don’t have enough red. They don’t ALL have to be Rudolph, you know. Add mouth, and brows, if that floats your boat. Stick an additional doodad lower down on the stick. Hot glue your ribbon to the back, and voila, your masterpiece is finished.

Great craft idea. Our kindergarteners will make these for their “smell” ornament for Christmas through our Senses unit.
