Actually – it rather reminds me of the “voting” for “Most Popular”, “Most Likely to Succeed”, etc crap from my high school days. Didn’t mean anything then, doesn’t mean anything now. Some people just want those honoraria to make themselves feel important.

I’m voting for you, nicedeb; but, I think the wankettes & wankers have just about destroyed any credibility these “awards” have. When one blog manages to decide (fix) who wins, then the weblogawards are irrelevant. In the Best New Blog catagory, they “chose” a website called synthesis to take out the Uppity Woman site..because they thought the name was cute! The guy has a new blog where he writes his thoughts on various subjects. Most of his posts have zero comments. His only post with multiple comments is the one about the awards where the wankers are busy pandering to him. So the guy that wins is a guy with hardly any traffic or participation, but the blogs in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th place are busy sites with active threads. Whats the point? I doubt if I’ll bother with this nonsense next year.

socalannie, I agree. Some modifications need to be made to the voting process, or it’s just too ridiculous. This is supposed to a fun deal. All of the races that Wonkette decided to skew are pretty much invalid.
Normal people don’t vote en masse for someone just to screw with someone they don’t like. I know that people who spend a lot of time online, are a little twisted, but come on… get a life, people.
