I didn’t go. Why didn’t somebody remind me? There’s a movement afoot, and I want to be a part of it. Ughh! I would have loved to have been there.
KSHB Action News says there were about 100 protesters. I heard from someone who was there, that one of the organizers announced a crowd of 750 at the peak, at about 10:30. It looks like a whole lot more than 100.
Rantings and Ravings was there and posted pictures. Here are a couple:
Looks like they had a decent showing. Next time somebody had better remind me, dangit.
More pictures from John, an Ace Of Spades moron who was there:
Someone is quite the artiste:
Love this: “Get your paws off the economy, you damn, dirty, Dems”!
I see there was a Michael Savage fan in the crowd:
John says another protest is planned for next Saturday, starting at J.C. Nichols Fountain on the Plaza at 10:00 a.m., then marching on to Senator McCaskill’s office.
MORE at Kansas Meadowlark.
STILL MORE at Katablog, who has a slideshow.
I’m not a good crowd estimator but I’d guess there where between 200 and 300 500 to 750 people who turned out in 25 degree weather to make their voices heard. In addition we had a lot of passing traffic who provided their support with thumbs up and honking.
She’s right. There were way more than 100 people at this thing:
Awwwww!:
How about it Obama? Kid wants a tiger. What could go wrong?
UPDATE:
Senator DeMint is encouraging street demonstrations to save our country:
The stately senator from South Carolina sees America’s unique centuries-old system of freedom dying out.
And he thinks we may have to take to the streets to save it.
“I would think it’s time to start thinking about peaceful demonstrations,” he told us last week.
Seriously?
“Seriously.
“The power of the people is there. Freedom is in the people’s hands right now, and it’s about to slip through.”

“There’s a movement afoot, and I want to be a part of it.”
Nice Deb, You already are.
February, 21, 2009 at 8:11 pm
I was there also and I totally agree that there were more than 100 people. I arrived at about 9:40am and there were already over 100. By 10:15am, the crowd really grew. Parking was a problem for many because we were not allowed to use the office building parking lot – hence a lot of people were a bit late as they had to walk 6 or 7 blocks. BTW, the neighborhood was very nice about allowing us to park and protesters were excellent about parking legally and not leaving trash.
I have a slide show at Katablog which easily disproves the 100 theory.

Most of us did not even hear about this until Thursday. I found out about it from JOCO SOB link to Michelle Malkin.
So then I put a link on my blog. And so it spread.
It was cold as heck out there. So, people were leaving while new people were coming. I left early after introducing myself to Amanda.
The Tea Party starts at the J.C. Nichols Fountain at 10:00 Feb. 28. I met the organizer but no name on the pamphlet he was distributing.
The event itself was lacking in organization on a very cold day. But what this does indicate, a lot of people are not happy politically. So with a little organization in nice weather should really pack the people against all the pork. I still think people should donate some beans and cornbread to their congressional rep to go along all the pork.
T. Scherer,
Candidate, US Congress.

I’ll be there on the 28th.

I was there, too, and there were a LOT more than 100 people. If parking was any indication, my 3-block hike told me there were more. I just moved here a few months ago and was impressed with the turnout. My voter registration came in the mail today!
Being that I’m new I didn’t understand the reference to AoSHQ. There were too many Google hits when I searched to discern which group you referenced. Can you expand?
February, 21, 2009 at 10:41 pm
I was just goofing. I only know of one regular AoSHQ (Ace of Spades HQ) reader at the protest, for sure, and I have no idea who made what sign. Ace and his commenters have been known to be crude, is the point. I was referring to the two signs underneath my comment.
I liked your sign!

Thank you Deb for this site, you provide a great service, and a place for people to voice their disgust with our current government. I live in Calif. and I doubt there will be an organized protest in nuttyland. Many here love the bail out, more free handouts. It’s becoming real scary in our state because we are approaching an upside down economic situation where there will be more people “demanding entitlements” than those working to pay for them. 45 billion in the hole now, much more in the future. Our state now leads the nation..even New York…for the highest tax rate. Something is going to happen soon and it’s not going to be pleasant.

Husband and I crossed the state line to participate in yesterday’s protest. It was fantastic to be around people who share similar values and frustrations. Here in Brookside, we have to stay ‘in the closet’ much of the time…
Really glad there’s going to be another protest on the Plaza. We’ll be there.
BTW…wayyyy more than 100 people yesterday.

Fox news this morning had a represenative from ACORN. She stated that people have a “right” to their homes, even if they don’t pay the mortgage, and that ACORN was telling deadbeats to continue to live in the homes without paying. The reporter asked her who do you think is going to pay for these homes? She told him the Obama Administration will. This is just nuts. I worked 2 jobs to save for a down payment. I didn’t know it was a “right” to own a home…stupid me!!!! Stop paying your mortgage payments now…Obama will pay for them!!!!!
