Kansas City Tea Party

When I got up this morning, I was honestly hoping that the event had been called off. We’d had about three inches of snow, and more was coming down. It was forecasted to continue  until afternoon. But I’m a die-hard, and so were the 200 or so other hardy souls who made it to the Plaza on this blustery, wintry morning.

The rally started on the Plaza, and proceeded one mile to Senator McCaskill’s office. There were many honks and thumbs ups from the drivers passing by, especially the snowplows!

Here’s where we started – at 47th and JC Nichols:

The woman below traveled all the way from Iowa to be here for this rally:

This one’s one of mine (the poster – not kid, I gave some posters away) Thanks to Reeko for the idea:

Another one of my posters (Reeko’s idea) Hey, I told you I had artistic talent!:

Also mine – there were a few hammer and sickles out there, this morning:

Let’s face it,  conservatives are the rebels, now:

We were a cheerful bunch, though:

The crowd started the one mile schlep to Claire McCaskill’s office.

Nice one!:

This guy ended up with one of my signs – he made sure to tell us he was a LEGAL immigrant:

Those of us who brought shoes dumped them in front of McCaskill’s office. “Walk a mile in our shoes” was the theme.

Another one of mine:

There was a guy with a huge Ronald Reagan cut out, too, that I saw while we were walking to McCaskill’s office, but I never caught up to him, and once we got there, he must have gotten lost in the crowd. I really wanted a pic of that.

I was talking to one of the other protesters while we were walking back to our cars. Both of us expressed how odd it seemed for us to be out on the streets, protesting something. It’s something neither of us had ever fathomed doing in all of our lives – even when Clinton was in office. Conservatives have been agitated like never before. The coming months should be interesting.

There will be many more of these in the future. Watch the blogs, or the facebook page for info on upcoming events.

See Rantings and Ravings for more pix.

By the way:

The final snowfall amount was 6 1/2 inches in my part of the metro.

Lee’s Summit Tea Party

Wednesday April 15, 2009 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm

City Hall of Lees Summit

220 Se Green St
Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64063 Get Directions
If you aren’t happy with the lack of fiscal responsibility in Washington. If you don’t like the accumulation of trillions of dollars of debt to (you)the taxpayer. If you don’t like the size of government and the new power it is attaining each day … Come join us and let your voice be heard. This is a Tax Day TEA Party … TEA is an acronym for Taxed Enough Already. This is a peaceful protest – to let our voices be heard. The event is open to the public from all areas.
I plan on going to all three.
UPDATE III:

One more in Missouri, sponsored by Americans For Prosperity.

Join AFP activists and me at a taxpayer tea party on April 14th in opposition to wasteful spending at the federal and state levels. Bring your tea bags to “dump,” along with letters to be signed and delivered to Senator McCaskill’s office, and board the U.S.S. Porkulus to stand against reckless spending in Missouri.

We will also be visiting our state legislators to demand that stimulus dollars be used for one-time projects, not recurring programs.

What: AFP Missouri Taxpayer Teaparty
Who: Americans for Prosperity – Missouri
When: Tuesday, April 14, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  1. Wow those pictures give me hope for our country. Could you imagine how many people would have came if the weather was nicer? Let’s have another one of these. This is just the starting point.

  2. nicedeb, my little brother (who just returned from Iraq) called me this morning from Ft Riley, and they were going to the Olathe area in east KS. i told them about the KC rally, and he said they would love to go, but i totally forgot about how active duty aren’t allowed to be in protests/political rallies of any kind. still, i told him if he was out of uniform, nobody would know… and from the looks of things, everybody was bundled up snug tight! LOL

fwiw, at the Ft Worth Tea Party, we had an inadvertant (or deliberate?) AF flyover by what looked like a couple of the new F22 Raptors. waaaay cool. but i had just turned my camera off and only managed to snap a couple pix instead. they were about 1000 ft. i say it might’ve been just a coincidence because Carswell AFB-JRB is just down the road… but still… i KNOW the way pilots think, and i think they “buzzed” us. LOL 😉

  3. Looks great! I got an e-mail today saying that more nationwide parties are being held on April 15! I’m for sure going to be at that one… I couldn’t go to the Chicago one yesterday because I had to work and couldn’t get out of it.

  7. Americaneocon: re: “Will Conservatives Abandon the War on Terror?”

they already have. read what Pam Geller (AtlasShrugs) and Pajamas Media, and others had to say about what this weekend’s OTHER conservatives were doing at CPAC. seems the usual blowhards were all too busy slapping and sniping at each other trying to find our own Obamareagan “leader” so that we too can worship at the alter of the cult of personalities… and have completely given up on the GWOT and the very real and threat of stealth jihad. they bigwigs at CPAC totally ignored Geert Wilders.

moonbats and asshats. reminds me of that song Stuck In The Middle With You: “clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right…”

i’m all for fighting Socialism here, and will always support this movement – but this movement ONLY exists because the focus against violent terrorism has been abated and/or ignored, in large part, to the fantastic and superior diligence of our previous administration. God bless GWB for saving our asses FROM jihad. but now, the inmates are running the asylum, and there is nothing u nor i can do about it.

there will be another wake up call and soon.

don’t think so? think the jihadists have all been placated?
    think again.
…meanwhile Hamas continues to fire their new (!) long range rockets into Israel. just wait until they start being lobbed over from Mexico. or Detroit. just wait…

Good points, Reeko. Conservatives like to have things done right, but hyper-critical attitudes among conservatives become a toe-hold for Dems to climb on, causing more damage. We bring it on ourselves when we fail to find a balance between complacency and criticism of each other.

  9. exactly Cathy. have u ever been shark fishing? if u chum up the water with bait, then after hooking sharks and finding no more bait in the water to be had – they will turn and attack each other. the GOP began eating each other when they turned on Bush last year. it was truly painful to watch as the media whole-heartedly selected McCain FOR us in the primaries… knowing full well that Bush and McCain have had decades-long animosity which played exactly into the media’s and the DNC ruse.

Obama did not win. we capitulated.

politically speaking, our common enemy is, has been, and will always remain: the Left. geopolitically speaking, our common enemy is, has been, and will remain: Islamofascism. does not matter if its core belief of destroying Western Civilization aligned itself within Nazism, Socialism or any other state-ism, it always has been and remains dedicated against every single principle stated in our Constitution. i personally believe, that this was foretold and is all prophesy. yet others might not think like that and insist that global jihad is just socio-economic biased and that we must try to understand them more and appease them more in order to “win their hearts and minds” … let me know how that works out ok?

meanwhile, Eurabia is becoming a fact. the seemingly illogical yet implicit connection between creeping Sharia AND Socialism together is already a done deal. one culprit works off the other or hand-in-hand with the other. the political result of unholy alliance is pre-ordained. Daar al-Haab grows in proportion to Daar al-Islam. most of Europe has already capitulated or on the verge.

We are next, and its coming from within. those who would champion our cause, have now turned to eating each other. as i have stated many times, and i disagree on Rush about this – looking for a “leader” to lead us out of this is a fool’s game – and exactly what the enemy wants. no matter WHO we are manipulated to select as our designated hitter (so to speak) he/she will be struck out at the plate. does that analogy make any sense? the other side is playing for keeps, and they have been prepping for this for decades. Cloward-Piven wasn’t just invented yesterday, and it does work. make no mistake, they are cocked and locked at any and all heroes we may stick up in front of us. they will destroy them…

    remember John Galt? 😉

Do you know helped organize this tea party? I was just talking with one of my friends about possibly organizing another one for April or May. I missed out on this one as I was recovering from a tonsillectomy! Anyway, if you know who the event organizers were/are, send them my email address and let them know I’d like to help out or get some ideas from them. Thanks!

  22. The following states have provision for recalling US Senators: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin.

More information is available at http://www.ehow.com/how_2096900_recall-us-senator.html

I am going to attempt to get this information to as many Tea Party Groups in these states that have Democrat US Senators as I can. If a wide-spread recall movement can be quickly started this action will send a powerful message to all democrats. I urgently solicit your help in getting this movement initiated toward completion. And yes, I am starting this effort on Christmas Eve and will continue on Christmas day because I believe that has huge strategic potential if it is swiftly undertaken on a wide-spread basis.

New Jersey has already started recall action on Senator Menendez.

    Thank you and merry Christmas,
