“Crisis Of Epic Proportions”…Not So Bad After All

Well, now that Obama has rammed through all of the big government programs he can get away with at the moment, the  financial catastrophe that he warned was on the horizon if his bills weren’t passed, has been downgraded to: “not as bad as we think thought”.

Phew…we really dodged a bullet, didn’t we?

And look who made out like a bandit in all this spending?

More Joaquin Phoenix Performance Art

From the UK Sun:

JOAQUIN PHOENIX was involved in a huge brawl while performing at a Miami night club last night, wrestling a heckler to the ground before being dragged off by security.

The actor-turned-rapper, 34, jumped off the stage mid-way through his appearance to confront the mouthy audience member.

An enraged Joaquin, sounding a little more coherent than in recent times, announced: “We have a f***ing b**** in the audience.

Nodding his head while rapping to a beat, he told the man: “I’ve got $1million in the bank. What have you got b****?”

Is anyone else getting tired of this schtick, yet? At least when Andy Kaufman did his performance art, he was occasionally funny.

DNC Billboard FAIL

You remember the DNC Anti-Rush slogan contest, right?

Out of more than 80,000 slogans, this one here, was chosen as the best:

rush-to-failureNo kidding, impeach Obama, now!

The poster if taken literally, makes the point many Americans are making about Obama’s job performance. But of course, it’s meant to be some kind of play on words about Rush… which fails miserably: Americans didn’t vote for Rush to call Obama a failure? Or something? EPIC FAIL.

No doubt, after weeding out all of the “Rush is a big fat, thrice divorced, drug addict!!11!ELEVENTY!”  submissions, that’s the best they could come up with.

Thanks to Michelle Malkin

UPDATE:

Ed Morressey, comes up with a cool slogan to put beside the DNC’s:

Americans didn’t vote for a Rush to failure….

Flight 93 Memorial Blogburst #57

Senator Specter’s payoff for betraying his party: betrayal of his state

Blogburst logo, petition

We now know one of the payoffs that Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter received for being one of three Republican Senators who allowed President Obama’s trillion-dollar Spendulus bill to become law. WPXI in Pittsburgh reports that Specter has a 5.5 million dollar earmark for the crescent-shaped Flight 93 memorial in the omnibus spending bill just passed by the Senate.

Much as the people of Pennsylvania want to see a fitting memorial built, they yanked support for the crescent design in August 2007 after Tom Burnett Sr., father of Flight 93 hero Tom Jr., started warning the country that the memorial design is STILL packed to the gills with Islamic symbolism. Since that time the Memorial Project has hardly raised a dime, and a September 2007 interview with State Senator Jane Orie, who sponsors the Hearts of Steel memorial fund, makes clear that concerns about Islamic symbolism predominate. Here is her exchange with Pittsburgh talk-radio host Fred Honsberger:

Orie: “No matter who it is, and no matter where I went today for 9/11 events, everybody brought up this crescent. Whether it is intentional or not, it is disturbing to people.”

Honsberger: “So everyone is bringing it up to you.”

Orie: “Absolutely.”

Orie is talking here about the so-called “redesign.” The people of Pennsylvania know that the giant crescent, which the redesign was supposed to remove, is still there. The Park Service calls it “Circle of Embrace” now, but the circle is still broken, and the unbroken part of the circle——what is symbolically left standing in the wake of 9/11——remains exactly as it was in the original Crescent of Embrace (pictured above). Architect Paul Murdoch’s design is still a giant Islamic-shaped crescent, still pointing to Mecca.

Pennsylvanians have voted with their pocketbooks to reject this memorial to the terrorists, but Arlen Specter is determined to cram it down their throats anyway, the same way he helped Obama cram a trillion dollars of socialist pork down America’s throat.

Specter knows better than any other politician not just that the giant Islamic-shaped crescent is still there, but that it points to Mecca

Our group was actually very hopeful back in 2007 that Senator Specter might put and end to the memorial debacle. After Mr. Burnett’s public appeal, Specter’s office wanted a briefing on the Islamic symbolism that we have found in the crescent design. One of our most knowledgeable people then spent 45 minutes with Stan Caldwell, Executive Director of Senator Specter’s Pittsburgh office, explaining in detail the Islamic and terrorist memorializing symbolism.

Caldwell had no trouble understanding our graphical proof that the giant crescent points almost exactly at Mecca:

QiblaOverlaidOnCrescent,400px

A person standing between the tips of the Crescent of Embrace and facing into the center of the crescent (red arrow) will be facing within two degrees of the Muslim prayer direction (qibla), which is calculated as the great circle direction to Mecca. (Green qibla graphic produced by the Mecca-direction calculator at Islam.com. Another calculator is available at QiblaLocator.com.)

Caldwell also had no trouble understanding that the giant crescent is still there. All the redesign did was place an extra arc of trees out behind the mouth of the crescent, an arc of trees that according to the Park Service’s own website explicitly represents a broken off part of the circle:

Crescent-BrokenCircle animation, 400px

Animation starts with the bare naked Crescent of Embrace. The re-colored Circle of Embrace site plan is superimposed on top, then everything but the changes are removed. The only change is extra arc of trees (flashing) that explicitly represents a broken off part of the circle. Every particle of the original Crescent of Embrace design remains completely intact.

Our man also explained the significance of the Mecca orientation: that it turns the giant Islamic-shaped crescent into a mihrab (the Mecca-direction indicator around which every mosque is built). The planned memorial is actually the world’s largest mosque, and Arlen Specter’s office is fully aware of it.

Do Specter and Caldwell have some explanation? The press will never ask, but we can:

DC Fax: 202-228-1229

Another Washington Post cover-up

Dan Eggen reports how Families of Flight 93 (an adjunct to the Memorial Project, representing only those families who are backing the crescent design) have been in Washington seeking federal money. He includes no mention of WHY the private fundraising effort has failed. But State Senator Orie’s discussion of her fundraising difficulties is not hard to find. Any reporter doing a story on the memorial’s fundraising problems would presumably start here:

Google search for fundraising+problems+Flight+93+memorial

The whole first page of search results is our blogburst post about Orie. (“Fundraising difficulties” yields the same result.)

Either Dan Eggen is completely incompetent, or the Post is taking sides, refusing to report the facts that don’t support the terrorist memorializing side.

Perhaps ombudsman Andrew Alexander should weigh in on this. The Post has NEVER reported on Mr. Burnett’s long battle to stop the Park Service from planting a giant Islamic-shaped crescent atop his son’s grave. Mr. Burnett left a long comment on Dan Eggen’s article which Eggen simply ignored, along with private offers to talk.

So which is it Mr. Alexander? Is the Post incompetently ignorant of a controversy that has raged for years, or is it intentionally suppressing the facts about the giant Mecca-oriented crescent?

Tea Parties A Go-Go

Dan Riehl asks: Are Tea Parties America’s Last, Best Hope?

He thinks maybe they are:

….we now have an administration hell bent on re-shaping America into an image upon which the American people have never had an honest chance to vote. And it also seems this administration aims to do it before the people have a formal opportunity to vote again.

I’m not a demonstrator by nature and am completely open to any solid argument that offers a legitimate way forward for those on the Center-Right with a strong and somewhat immediate desire to be heard. So, if it isn’t taking to the streets, please tell me what it is.

Until I see one I can sincerely believe in, I think the Tea Party concept may be the only potentially successful option we have left.

With yet another stimulus package coming down the pike, and the Democrats eager to ram it through like the first one along with the pork filled Omnibus that just passed, what’s left for us to do?  I don’t favor any of this horrific spending , yet it’s my money, and my children’s money, and my children’s children’s money that is going to be paying for it.

It turns out most Americans are weary of these stimulus packages…in fact the Dems in Congress don’t even have a majority of country’s Democrats on board with this latest “stimulus” if you believe this poll. How else are we to have our voices heard?

Americans all over the nation are planning protests on April 15th. Check out where the closest one to you will be, and plan on going, if you want to fight this. If you’re on Facebook, join the American Tea Party Group. You can check out The New American Tea Party for listings, as well.

Here in the Kansas City area there’s been a protest planned for every week. I posted pictures from the first three so far, in Overland Park, Kansas City, and Olathe.

Here’s a great video of the protest in Kansas City, where over 200 people showed up during a snow storm.

I’ve been alerted to yet another protest being planned for this weekend, organized by a couple of guys who as far as I know, just jumped into the fray:

Conservatives, Stand Up!

Protest Obama’s socialism this Saturday!!

Where: 95th & Mission  – McDonalds (NE corner, under construction)
What to do: Cheer for freedom and protest liberal
socialism!  Bring a handmade sign (suggestions below)!  Bring your kids!  Bring an American flag!

When: Saturday, March 14th.  9 – 10:30 AM

Spirit: Pro-America, spirited and respectful disagreement with the expansion of Obama’s socialism and the “bailout economy”

Signs: Use posterboard and large markers.  Need to be short & pithy.

Michelle Malkin and Instapundit have both been covering and encouraging these tea parties.  I’m glad to see that Dan Riehl, too, is on board.

A Tale Of Two Transitions

When George W. Bush came to office in 2000, it was under very difficult circumstances due to the Florida recount. In fact, his transition was delayed almost a month. It would have been somewhat understandable if he had gotten off to a rocky start. But he didn’t. His transition into power was one of the smoothest ever, and there’s a reason for that. He was prepared:

While president-elect George W. Bush’s transition was delayed almost a month because of the uncertainty of the election outcome, historian John P. Burke rates his transition as probably one of the most effective in modern times. This was not only because of effective prior planning by the president-elect and the relative absence of infighting among the president-elect’s transition and campaign staffs, but also the supporting materials developed and contributed by many think tanks. In fact Roy Neel, the head of Al Gore’s nascent transition effort, called it “breathtakingly successful.”

You can read more about Bush’s transition, here.

On Bill Clinton’s last day, he hastily issued 140 pardons including the fugitive financier Marc Rich:

The media frenzy over the pardon was heightened by reports that the Clintons  had filched furniture from the White House. The reports turned out to be exaggerated, although the Clintons did return $28,000 worth of furniture, lamps, and rugs from the White House collection. Next came reports that on the flight to Chappaqua, the Clintons and their friends had stripped the plane bare. Those reports too were eventually debunked.  Finally came the stories of the trashing of government offices and equipment—pulling the “W’s” off computer keyboards–also mostly exaggerated.

“Mostly”.

Five days after Clinton left office, the late Mary McGrory, a liberal Washington Post columnist wrote that “The Clinton exit was …a script that would have made `Saturday Night Live’ blush.” University of Virginia political scientist Larry Sabato, who has made a specialty of writing about political scandals, told me that it hardly mattered whether these reports were true, false, or exaggerated: “Those last scandalous developments….just underlined some of the worst parts of the Clinton presidency.”

President Bush, on the other hand  intended to leave office with as much dignity as he had entered it, and he promised to take steps to ensure a smooth transition for Obama, shortly after the November election as was widely reported:

“For the next 75 days, all of us must ensure that the next president and his team can hit the ground running,” an emotional Bush told the 1,000 staff assembled on the White House lawn.

“This peaceful transfer of power is one of the hallmarks of a true democracy. And ensuring that this transition is as smooth as possible is a priority for the rest of my presidency,” Bush said.

Four plus months later, even with ample time to prepare,  we find an “overwhelmed” new President making blunder after blunder.

Although his transition period has been hailed as one of the smoothest and best organized ever,  Obama is having problems filling key positions:

•The nominee for deputy in the United States Treasury Department withdrew herself from consideration after weeks of intensive vetting.

Annette Nazareth, a former senior staffer and commissioner with the Securities and Exchange Commission, was said to have made “a personal decision” to pull out.

•Mr Obama also suffered another setback when Dr Sanjay Gupta, the high-profile CNN medical correspondent who had agreed in principle to become Surgeon General, took himself out of the running, saying: “It really came down to a sense of timing more than anything else. You know, I have two daughters. Our third daughter is now imminent.”

Others suggested that Dr Gupta had been dismayed when Tom Daschle’s bid to become Health Secretary and health care reform tsar was derailed over his failure to pay $128,000 in taxes on a chauffeur and limousine. After this, the health job was split in two, a move that would have left Dr Gupta with two bosses.

•He has lost two Commerce Secretary nominees – Governor Bill Richardson, who became embroiled in a corruption scandal and Senator Judd Gregg, a Republican who turned against Mr Obama’s spending plans.

•Nancy Killefer, chosen to be “chief performance officer”, pulled out over unpaid taxes while General Anthony Zinni was told he would be ambassador to Baghdad only to learn that a diplomat had been appointed to fill the slot but no one had bothered to tell him.

The latest appointee to step down was Obama’s disastrous choice to the post of National Intelligence Council chief, Chas Freeman.

Chuck Schumer:

“Charles Freeman was the wrong guy for this position. His statements against Israel were way over the top and severely out of step with the administration. I repeatedly urged the White House to reject him, and I am glad they did the right thing.”

At Hot Air, Ed Morrissey opines:

President Barack Obama’s handy excuse for all sorts of goofs and missteps is that he’s too busy working on fixing the economy.  In order to do that, one might expect that Obama would concentrate on building his economic team at the Department of the Treasury, where most of those efforts would originate and get managed.  Instead, as noted earlier today, phones go unanswered at Treasury — and our allies and trading partners have begun complaining about the lack of effort in the White House.

Reports have floated around that “dozens” of positions remain unfilled at Treasury, most recently in the New York Times’ profile of Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner:

Compounding the strain on the Treasury, almost all the top posts beneath Mr. Geithner are still vacant. Though he has hired about 50 senior advisers — about half the number he hopes to recruit — the White House has become so worried about potential tax problems and other issues in the backgrounds of candidates that it has nominated only a handful of people.

About those unanswered phone calls: While Britain is still trying to get over the snubs from Gordon Brown’s visit to Washington, last week, a British senior civil servant, this week expressed his frustration at the difficulties in getting through to the Obama administration:

… Sir Gus O’Donnell, Britain’s most senior civil servant, exposed transatlantic tension when he protested that Downing Street was finding it “unbelievably difficult” to plan for next month’s G20 summit in London because of problems tracking down senior figures in the US administration. “There is nobody there. You cannot believe how difficult it is,” the Cabinet Secretary told a civil service conference in Gateshead.

At the very least, you’d think they’d be able hire a receptionist to pick up the phone.

UPDATE:

Well, this is just sad. Another high level appointment crashed and burned, today.

After losing Annette Nazareth to potential criticism of her regulation efforts at the SEC and Caroline Atkinson to more tax problems, H. Rodgin Cohen has now departed as the designee for Deputy Treasury Secretary.

People are wondering if there are any Democrats out there without tax problems, or if this is a case of nominees not wanting to go down with Obama’s ship.

UPDATE II:

AWKWARD!:

Obama Tech Appointee office raided in bribery sting:

If Barack Obama thought the nomination nightmare would end soon, an FBI raid today extended and deepened the REM cycle.  Obama announced the appointment of Vivek Kundra as the Chief Information Officer of the Obama White House last week, but today Kundra has search warrants rather than Google searches on his mind:

Federal agents this morning are searching the Judiciary Square office of Washington, D.C.’s Chief Technology Officer.

The search is part of “an ongoing investigation,” said a spokeswoman for the FBI’s D.C. Field Office, Lindsay Gotwin, said. She declined to comment further.

The outgoing Chief Technology Officer, Vivek Kundra, was appointed last week Chief Information Officer by the Obama administration.

UPDATE III:

Have Dems Declared War Against The Catholic Church?

This story about the Catholic Church in distress in NY, comes right on the heels of the  attack on the Church in CT which was an attempt to force a radical reorganization of the legal, financial, and administrative structure of  parishes. That bill died a quick death, but there’s no promise that it won’t be attempted again in some other form.

The Anchoress:

That’s good. But it’s still on the way – next year, year after that, because as Ed Morrissey writes: They’re embarrassed, but they still haven’t learned why.

This battle is going to happen. Bank on it.

Now we find that Catholics in NY are battling a government that seems hellbent on the destruction of the Church.

Democrats have declared war on the Catholic Church, with new laws that threaten to bankrupt Catholic schools, hospitals, charities and parishes. Thus far, the worst attacks have come in New York.

“We’ve taken a lot of hits this year,” Dennis Poust, spokesman for the New York State Catholic Conference, the policy arm of the state’s Catholic bishops, tells Newsmax. “Outside the government, the Catholic Church is the largest provider of health, human services and education in [New York]. But some legislators are so driven by malice that they’re willing to see our charities and schools go under.”

The Empire State’s Democrats are attacking on three fronts.

A proposal to require all hospitals to perform abortions, or lose their state license would put Catholic hospitals out of business.

Major funding cuts for Catholic schools by Gov. David Paterson, who continues to force the parochial schools to run state-mandated programs at their own expense.

An effort by Democratic lawmakers to abolish the statute of limitations on sex abuse lawsuits against the Church, allowing people to sue over decades-old cases in which the alleged perpetrators are dead.

The proposed sex-abuse law applies only to private institutions such as the Church and the Boy Scouts. Public schools are exempt. Yet sex abuse is more common in public schools than in private institutions.

“The physical sexual abuse of students in schools is likely more than 100 times the abuse by priests”, concluded a 2002 study by Hofstra University scholar Charol Shakeshaft. It estimated that 6 to 10 percent of U.S. public school students had been sexually abused by teachers and school employees.

Read the whole thing.

Nationally, there’s the federal Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) which Obama promised Planned Parenthood in July 2007:

The first thing I’d do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That’s the first thing I’d do.

Well, it turns out that it’s not the first thing he’d do, he’s got the nation’s economy to destroy, first,  but it’s clearly on his agenda.

  • FOCA will do away with state laws on parental involvement, on partial birth abortion, and on all other protections.
  • FOCA will compel taxpayer funding of abortions.
  • FOCA will force faith-based hospitals and healthcare facilities to perform abortions.

Barack Obama believes this legislation will “end the culture wars.” To him, “ending the culture wars” means eradicating every state and federal law on abortion — laws that the majority of Americans support.

Most Catholics vote Republican right? Right?

Mitt Romney 2010 Or 2012?

I’m not sure which of these scenarios I like best – Romney for President 2012, or Romney for Senator of Nevada 2010, (taking Reid’s seat)?

As far as the Presidential race in 2012 goes, things are looking very promising for Mitt.

Peter S. Canellos of the Boston Globe opines that Romney “suddenly seems like the only adult left standing among the 2012 Republican presidential hopefuls”:

It’s early, of course – ridiculously early – for anyone except potential candidates to be thinking about the next presidential race. But there’s been plenty of positioning going on in the now-leaderless GOP, including a head-scratching debut by one promising contender, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and a parade of speeches by some others at the Conservative Political Action Conference late last month.

And while much of the CPAC spotlight went to someone who isn’t a candidate for president – radio personality Rush Limbaugh, who came off as either boorish or straight-talking, depending on your political temperature – it was Romney who walked away with the best reviews and victory in the convention’s presidential straw poll.

There’s already a Mitt Romney for President 2012 website, “ready when you all come crawling back”.

I suspect that after four years of Obama, even the most rabid anti-Mormon fundamentalists will be running to him.

Meanwhile,  this has been brewing on the rumor mill:

The speculation began with an article in a weekly newspaper, the Pahrump Valley Times. A local doctor, Frank Toppo, had received tickets from Harry Reid to attend Obama’s inauguration, and while there, he apparently was given a tip on Romney’s Nevada designs.
Frank Toppo passed along some political scuttlebutt from inside the Beltway: former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is planning to move to Nevada to challenge Sen. Reid for his seat in the 2010 election.

This story was followed by an article in the Reno, NV, News Review:
Online columnist Sally Denton (a Nevada native and author of a book on Nevada politics): “Rumors swirl in Las Vegas that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is in the process of establishing residency in Nevada with his eye toward unseating his fellow Mormon.”
David Bernstein in the Boston Phoenix in Romney’s home state: “Mitt vs. Harry Reid? If you’re looking to sell a palatial estate in Nevada, I think I might know somebody who’ll be looking to buy soon. … Hint: Mormonism is an asset in Nevada. (Reid is Mormon, in fact.) Romney, you might recall, campaigned hard in Nevada and won the caucuses there, helping to blunt his loss in South Carolina. The genius of running against Reid is that, win or lose, Romney becomes a hero to the GOP just for taking it on. I think he’s planning to do it. Of course, he doesn’t actually live there, but that’s easily fixed.”

Obama’s Plan To Negotiate With Taliban Scoffed At… By Taliban

It’s been one foreign policy blunder after another with this guy.  Is this what people voted for? Did liberals really think that it would be a good idea to negotiate with terrorists? Because even the terrorists don’t think so:

KABUL (Reuters) - Afghanistan’s Taliban on Tuesday turned down as illogical U.S. President Barack Obama’s bid to reach out to moderate elements of the insurgents, saying the exit of foreign troops was the only solution for ending the war.

Obama, in an interview with the New York Times, expressed an openness to adapting tactics in Afghanistan that had been used in Iraq to reach out to moderate elements there.

“This does not require any response or reaction for this is illogical,” Qari Mohammad Yousuf, a purported spokesman for the insurgent group, told Reuters when asked if its top leader Mullah Mohammad Omar would make any comment about Obama’s proposal.

“The Taliban are united, have one leader, one aim, one policy…I do not know why they are talking about moderate Taliban and what it means?”

“If it means those who are not fighting and are sitting in their homes, then talking to them is meaningless. This really is surprising the Taliban.”

If you remember, Iran responded with similar contempt for Obama’s overtures in January:

US President Barack Obama’s offer to talk to Iran shows that America’s policy of “domination” has failed, the government spokesman said on Saturday.

“This request means Western ideology has become passive, that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed,” Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.

“Negotiation is secondary, the main issue is that there is no way but for (the United States) to change,” he added.

RELATED EMBARRASSMENT:

Via Jules Crittenden:

Obama’s attempts to deal with the Russians vis a vis the missile defense system, falls flat:

Medvedev is happy to talk about dismantling the missile defense system, but won’t “haggle” with Obama over Iran.  Deutsche Welle.

Sounds like that’s one bad idea blowing up in the new guy’s face before it gets off the ground. I believe Ivan is dissing 44. To put it in more diplomatic terms, Ivan is signaling that from his perspective, 44 has diplomatically signalled a desire to be his bitch.

This, on top of  the Obama’s mortifying faux pas during the Gordon Brown visit. Gad, I thought Obama was supposed to be repairing our damaged reputation throughout the world. Instead, he’s making us a laughingstock.

With Bush, the world may have hated us, but they respected us.

“Another Embarrassing Debacle For The Obama Administration”

chas_freeman

Via Jennifer Rubin at Commentary:

…how long can the rest of the mainstream media hold out without reporting on an embarrassing debacle for the Obama administration? This is the John Edwards story on steroids — a virtual conspiracy of silence with little if any journalistic justification. And here the issue is really important — the appointment of a key intelligence official who is alleged to harbor serious conflicts of interest and extreme views. I have made inquiry at two prominent, national newspapers about the lack of coverage and have received one “I’ll pass it on” from the ombudsman and only an automated response acknowledging receipt from the other. I wonder how mortified they’ll be if the story comes and goes, causing greater public controversy and embarrassment for the administration with nary a report from them.

Yep. We’re talking about Chas Freeman. The  appointment continues to cause controversy and consternation. And the only one talking about it in the MSM is Jake Tapper.

UPDATE:

Well! Jake Tapper Reports:

Chas Freeman Pulls Out

A statement from Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair:

“Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair announced today that Ambassador Charles W. Freeman Jr. has requested that his selection to be Chairman of the National Intelligence Council not proceed.  Director Blair accepted Ambassador Freeman’s decision with regret.”

Hoo boy… Freeman issued a statement:

The libels on me and their easily traceable email trails show conclusively that there is a powerful lobby determined to prevent any view other than its own from being aired, still less to factor in American understanding of trends and events in the Middle East. The tactics of the Israel Lobby plumb the depths of dishonor and indecency and include character assassination, selective misquotation, the willful distortion of the record, the fabrication of falsehoods, and an utter disregard for the truth. The aim of this Lobby is control of the policy process through the exercise of a veto over the appointment of people who dispute the wisdom of its views, the substitution of political correctness for analysis, and the exclusion of any and all options for decision by Americans and our government other than those that it favors.

As Gabe said:

Shorter Chas: “It was the Joooooooos!”

So hows that smoothest transition evah going?

The New Editor:

According to the White House Transition Project, which tracks [presidential] appointments, there are some 1,200 government jobs that require Senate confirmation about 360 of which are considered policy jobs. Only about 70 of those jobs have been filled so far.

Obama’s War On Business

Is Obama a Manchurian President? Laugh away, but this doesn’t come to us from some right wing blog.

March 9 (Bloomberg):

Imagine that some hypothetical enemy state spent years preparing a “Manchurian Candidate” to destroy the U.S. economy once elected. What policies might that leader pursue?

He might discourage private capital from entering the financial sector by instructing his Treasury secretary to repeatedly promise a brilliant rescue plan, but never actually have one. Private firms, spooked by the thought of what government might do, would shy away from transactions altogether. If the secretary were smooth and played rope-a-dope long enough, the whole financial sector would be gone before voters could demand action.

Another diabolical idea would be to significantly increase taxes on whatever firms are still standing. That would require subterfuge, since increasing tax rates would be too obvious. Our Manchurian Candidate would have plenty of sophisticated ideas on changing the rules to get more revenue without increasing rates, such as auctioning off “permits.”

These steps would create near-term distress. If our Manchurian Candidate leader really wanted to knock the country down for good, he would have to provide insurance against any long-run recovery.

There are two steps to accomplish that.

Discourage Innovation

First, one way the economy might finally take off is for some entrepreneur to invent an amazing new product that launches something on the scale of the dot-com boom. If you want to destroy an economy, you have to persuade those innovators not even to try.

Second, you need to initiate entitlement programs that are difficult to change once enacted. These programs should transfer assets away from productive areas of the economy as efficiently as possible. Ideally, the government will have no choice but to increase taxes sharply in the future to pay for new entitlements.

A leader who pulled off all that might be able to finish off the country.

Read on as the author illustrates how everything listed above is being put into into Obama’s economic policy.

This is why Obama MUST FAIL.

UPDATE:

Cramer was right to call Obama a Leninist. Check out these Lenin quotes Neo-Neocon dug up:

The best way to destroy the capitalist system is to debauch the currency.

The goal of socialism is communism.

The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.

There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience.

No amount of political freedom will satisfy the hungry masses.

Catholic Church In CT Under Attack!

Bill of Rights

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

From The Diocese Of Bridgeport Website:

This past Thursday, March 5, the Judiciary Committee of the Connecticut State Legislature, which is chaired by Sen. Andrew McDonald of Stamford and Rep. Michael Lawlor of East Haven, introduced a bill that directly attacks the Roman Catholic Church and our Faith.

This bill violates the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. It forces a radical reorganization of the legal, financial, and administrative structure of our parishes. This is contrary to the Apostolic nature of the Catholic Church because it disconnects parishes from their Pastors and their Bishop. Parishes would be run by boards from which Pastors and the Bishop would be effectively excluded.

This bill, moreover, is a thinly-veiled attempt to silence the Catholic Church on the important issues of the day, such as same-sex marriage.

The State has no right to interfere in the internal affairs and structure of the Catholic Church. This bill is directed only at the Catholic Church but could someday be forced on other denominations. The State has no business controlling religion.

This is an outrage! What makes the government think they should be involved with the internal workings of the church???

The Diocese of Connecticut website is urging people to fight this effort:

We urge you to call and e-mail Sen. McDonald and Rep. Lawlor:

Senator Andrew McDonald:
Capitol phone: (800) 842-1420; Home phone: (203) 348-7439
E-mail: McDonald@senatedems.ct.gov

Representative Michael Lawlor:
Capitol phone: (800) 842-8267; Home phone: (203) 469-9725
E-mail: MLawlor99@juno.com

We also ask you to come to Hartford this Wednesday, March 11, to be present at the public hearing. Details on bus transportation will be available on Monday. If you would like to attend, contact your Pastor.

It is up to us to stop this unbridled abuse of governmental power.

It is time for us to defend our First Amendment rights.

It is time for us to defend our Church!

Olathe Tea Party

dsc00631

The Nice Deb after action report: Not as big as we would have hoped – 100- 150 people in all,  disappointing considering last week we had over 200 on the Plaza DURING a snowstorm. Participants agreed, a better effort needs to be made to get the word out, like calling local radio talk shows to broadcast time and place. Also the weather may have played a part – VERY windy with a threat of rain.

Like last week it was a fun, enthusiastic group of hardcore conservatives. Once again we got many honks of approval, including one guy who put his hand on his horn and didn’t let go…poor guy must have lost his shirt in the stock market. There was one suv full of moonbats that went around the block a few times with a sign that said, “Obama Rocks!”….that was their entire message: “Obama Rocks!” Maybe next time they could come up with a pithy message to explain why that is.

We had no trouble expressing our opposition:
