As I was reading Michelle Malkin’s article on civility and tolerance in the age of Obama, this little snippet jumped out at me:
Instead of apologizing for pageant judge Perez Hilton’s vile behavior, the pageant director of the Miss California contest, Keith Lewis, sent a note to Hilton throwing Prejean under the bus: “I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss CA USA 2009 believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman…Religious beliefs have no place in politics in the Miss CA family.”
Politics is okay, but religious belief, which informs our political opinions is not okay.
That such ignorant, vacuous, amoral douchiness exists is no great surprise, but it’s always disheartening to see it in people with positions of power and influence.

Via the Los Angeles Times Entertainment section we find that another Miss America beauty pageant judge has weighed in, writing on her blog that she would have placed Miss CA, Carrie Prejean “51st runner-up” if she had had the chance:
“As she continued to speak, I saw the crown move further & further away from her. When she finished, she looked strangely proud for a moment. Personally, I was STUNNED on several levels. First, how could this young woman NOT know her audience and judges? Let’s not forget that the person asking the question is an openly gay man, at least 2 people on the judges panel are openly gay. Another judge has a sister in a gay marriage. Her very own state pageant director, KEITH LEWIS is an openly gay man who has been a very generous benefactor of hers…in many ways. (2 ways in particular….if you get my drift??) Did I mention I was STUNNED?”
This woman is STUNNED absolutely STUNNED that a Christian would give an honest answer instead of the politically correct, expedient one. It’s almost as if honesty, integrity, morality, honor, and principle are totally foreign concepts to her.
It’s as if these people think that any opinion other that their own, is somehow hateful, and invalid.
These people are so shallow…

Isn’t it funny how discrimination against people for Christian belief is almost always downplayed when homosexual activism is involved? It’s astounding!
When you really think about it – secular humanism – which advances the homosexual agenda is a “religious” belief too! The religion of atheism and/or paganism.
Carrie has really shown what it means to stand up for Christ and His Word, the Bible, even in the midst of a firestorm of hate and controversy.
There are those Christians who profess a lukewarm kind of faith where the person places one foot in the world and one foot in Christianity. What does the Bible say about being lukewarm? Plus, didn’t Jesus say that “his kingdom is not of this world?” He also warned us that “the world would hate us (believers in Christ) because it first hated him!”
Seeing all of the terrible things being said about Carrie by “the world” would most likely cause other contestants to keep their true morals and values (if any of them actually agreed with Carrie’s) to themselves. Yet I hope that the other contestants who rolled their eyes backstage (according to a WorldNetDaily article) will one day learn of the powerful witness for Jesus Christ that Carrie has become because she placed her faith in God’s Word rather than the words of sinful man.
Her statement of “not politically correct but biblically correct” was truly an awesome testimony for her faith.
The article on WorldNetDaily also stated that Carrie would have a good case against the pageant for discrimination. I wonder what she will choose to do?
Just from her initial responses, I can tell that God’s glory will continue to be uplifted in all of this.
I was just reading a devotional from C.H. Spurgeon that fits perfectly with, and prophetically speaks about, what has transpired through this incident!

Power to Raise
The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down. (Psalm l46:8)
Am I bowed down? Then let me urge this word of grace before the Lord. It is His way, His custom, His promise, His delight, to raise up them that are bowed down.
Is it a sense of sin and a consequent depression of spirit which distresses me?
Then the work of Jesus is, in this case, made and provided to raise me up into rest. O Lord, raise me, for Thy mercy’s sake!
Is it a sad bereavement or a great fall in circumstances? Here again the Comforter has undertaken to console. What a mercy for us that one Person of the sacred Trinity should become the Comforter! This work will be well done since such a glorious One has made it His peculiar care.
Some are so bowed down that only Jesus can loose them from their infirmity, but He can, and He will, do it. He can raise us up to health, to hope, to happiness.
He has often done so under former trials, and He is the same Savior and will repeat His deeds of loving kindness. We who are today bowed down and sorrowful shalt yet be set on high, and those who now mock at us shall be greatly ashamed.
What an honor to be raised up by the Lord! It is worthwhile to be bowed down that we may experience His upraising power. /quote

What exactly is the relevance of so-called “beauty pageants” these days? I see better looking women on the streets every day. They have even gotten partially away from referring to them as “beauty” pageants and are instead saying they are “talent” contests. Huh?
Further – does any pageant allegedly based on the looks (and talent) of a woman need all these sissy-boys as judges, promoters, “directors”, etc?
Anything Trump touches is poison. It’s (the pageant) irrelevant. Trump is irrelevant. Hilton is irrelevant. This sissy is irrelevant. Shine it on…..

I’ve been very impressed with this young lady’s grace and poise while under attack. She sees this as an opportunity to stand up for the Truth, and she’s not backing down.
I doubt that she has any interest in suing the pageant for the outcome, she has shown no hard feelings about it in any of the interviews I’ve seen.
By the way, here’s another judge who says she would have marked her down to 51st place if she had the chance.
http://vegasblog.latimes.com/vegas/2009/04/another-miss-usa-judge-says-wrong-answer.html
Note how she expresses shock and disgust that Miss CA would answer as she did while knowing of the progressive nature of the pageant and judges, as if being cowed into giving a dishonest PC answer is somehow a positive thing.

Bruce,
I have a suggestion for you. Go rent a copy of “Miss Congeniality” (not the second one – that one wasn’t very good).
There are many women who use these pageants as a stepping stone to get a worldview message out to young girls who might aspire to be “Miss CA” or “Miss U.S.A.” one day. It also can lead them to future jobs in their chosen field of interest. For example. There are several newscasters and commentators on the Fox News Channel who were former pageant contestants and winners.
I agree with you that homosexual men should not be judges. It seems ridiculous to me. But that is the way of this world right now. Homosexuality is held up as something to be “celebrated,” and God’s Word, Jesus Christ, and traditional family values are disparaged, ridiculed, mocked and trampled upon.
Where is the tolerance in that?

Hi Nicedeb,
Love your blog!
I think you are correct. I doubt that she would sue. But isn’t it interesting that she would have every right to do so? I think she would win, too. Would love to see her gain money damages from that vile Hilton guy and then turn around and donate it to a Christian charity!
I heard about that judge. 51st place? Don’t we have 50 states? LOL Perhaps she got confused because during the election, Obama once stated that he has now visited “all 57 states.” He was confused. There are 57 Muslim states though! Ah! Don’t get me started on him!!
BTW, how could Miss CA’s answer be considered “wrong” if she was asked about her opinion on the subject? Why isn’t girly-boy Perez’s “opinion” wrong? No wonder Michael Savage labeled liberalism as a “mental disorder.” Many of those people live in the relativistic “spiritual oblivion” la-la-land.

I just find it hard to believe that any of us seem to be “shocked” or “surprised” by this. It’s par for the course and only going to get worse. However, since none of the promises in “the book” seem to have been meant for me I just don’t get involved or riled any more except for one issue – abortion. Religion aside, murder is murder, especially when it’s the most innocent (theologically arguable) defenseless human life there is.

With libs, there are “wrong” opinions.

“First, how could this young woman NOT know her audience and judges?”
That’s it in a nutshell. Personal morals and beliefs be damned. Tell us what we want to hear. Give your blessing to our lifestyle or we will show you exactly what our ‘tolerance’ really means.
You discuss the ignorant, vacuous, amoral douchiness these self-absorbed clownshoes exhibit. I wonder about the vacuous nature of the activity itself. Maybe these women really do this to set a good example for girls. Maybe it even works, but as a serious person in a serious profession, having a beautiful young woman, made up and hairsprayed to the point of parody discuss wanting world peace does not even trip my seriousometer. Don’t get me wrong. I love the fact that she demonstrated the courage of her convictions. I love the fact that she is enduring the hissyfits with a generous dose of grace. I just wonder if we are not better off leaving such dubious pursuits to the people who obviously feel invested in them, and letting a young woman like her apply her conviction and character in places that have an every day impact…like school boards, city councils, and state legislatures. Not only would the overall character of our governance improve, but it would also make it easier to marginalize the these self-important navel gazers as people who are too busy making it about themselves rather than contributing anything of redeeming or lasting value to our society.

Wait a minute, Wait a minute !!!! She didn’t ask the damn question, That liberal asked it !! She just answered honestly from her heart !! Oh I forgot, If you do not agree with a liberal you ares ome kinda whacko !!! To hell with telling the truth !!
April, 22, 2009 at 3:17 pm
It wasn’t the “correct” answer.
April, 22, 2009 at 3:37 pm
While I agree if she wanted to impress the judge, who runs a liberal pro gay blog, the answer she gave was not politically correct; And, did not server her direct interest at that moment of winning: But, it was Biblical Correct and her true belief, what she won was bigger than the judge could provide by giving him the lie he wanted to hear.
Living a lie has its own price Demoralized Enough Yet. What value would there be to be a spokesperson, and not be able to speak the truth?

The state of California should have a name change. It should be called the State of GAYS.

I have the DVD for that movie, Christine. I understand your point, but I am certain there are other outlets for intelligent young women to achieve success in life than lending themselves to an increasingly politically correct and irrelevant farce like “beauty pageants that aren’t.” The cream will always float to the top in my view. T&A spectaculars are not the way to go to achieve lasting success. Maybe they used to be, but not in the last 10 years at least – and certainly not since Trump took things over.
And remember … “Miss Congeniality” is a MOVIE – not real life:)

She told Neil Cavuto in her interview with him that she was going to be meeting with Trump, today. I wonder how that went.
