Bill Whittle’s Message To The Rich

I think the advice can be summed up with the term, “Going Galt”:

The Washington Post ran a column a few days ago, in which a Mr. Joel Berg applauds the Obama Administration for reducing the amount of charitable deduction that The Rich are allowed to take when they write a check to charity.

Mr. Berg – who runs a charitable foundation that feeds the poor — explains things for us thusly:

“…It is wrong to give them [the very rich] unilateral power to decide whether their taxpayer-subsidized donations should go to, say, well-heeled operas or lavish care of pets rather than to organizations that meet more pressing communal needs.”

Mr. Berg lists two specific ways in which The Rich have been Letting Down the Team – again.

“First,” he writes, “such tax deductions are a highly inefficient way to fund social programs.” Got that? He continues: “Second, voluntary private charity is a less equitable way to solve community problems.”

See the problem here? “When the wealthiest Americans donate to charities,” writes Berg, “they are most likely to give to universities, hospitals and cultural institutions from which they and their families may benefit.”

The filthy swine!

The answer is simple. Don’t let The Rich have a big deduction on charitable giving, since they will donate to stupid things like the Arts or medical centers, instead of those charities doing important things – like Mr. Berg’s.

No sir! The answer is clear: simply tax them more.

“Combined with other progressive Obama tax proposals, that change would not only start to redress the inequality gap that has engulfed America in recent decades but would also help to pay for many effective domestic programs…”

…Which Mr. Berg then helpfully goes on to list.

Well, I read this article in the Washington Post, and I thought: there you have it. The top ten percent, that pays sixty percent of the total income tax and which allows the bottom half – HALF! – to pay nothing… Those horrible, greedy bastards are not using their free-will generosity as “efficiently” as the government can, so let’s just take more of their money and call it square.

So let me now send a personal message to The Rich in America…

As an American and a patriot, I implore you – I go to my knees and beg you – LEAVE NOW.

Read Whittle’s entire piece to learn a little bit about his own journey from the whiny, demanding, sponge of his youth, to the man he is, today, and why he thinks “The Rich” need to escape Obama’s money grubbing hooks, not for their own sakes, but for everyone else’s.

Coincidentally, I just happened upon this open letter to Obama, at Daily Pundit, written by a businessman who most likely didn’t need Whittle’s advice before he decided to get the hell out of Dodge:

and this guy’s handle is “Austrian“…

Let me just tell you, Congressional/Executive Branch Scumbag, Esq., if you do this… if you take this turn… I won’t even think twice. I will move my firm to Switzerland, or to London before the year is out. Those employees who do not follow me, I will have to fire. The corporate taxes I pay will no longer be yours. Instead, they will go to something useful, like a nice tunnel through a mountain for high speed trains that actually work. Further, I will dedicate a substantial portion of my personal time, effort and capital to frustrating your every attempt to collect personal taxes on me thereafter- given your draconian anti-expatriation laws. But that’s not all. My job is to make money for my clients, in whatever way I can. I will short your flagging financial firms mercilessly and remorselessly. I will buy QGRI puts to bet against any firm that took bailout money. I will buy credit default swaps on every firm you put your greasy paws on, because I know your fingerprints are laced with poison. For every boneheaded centralist move you make, I will be there, profiting from your lunacy. I will never again take a client who pays taxes in the United States. I will not permit any capital or profit to be diverted to any such. I will do this because in the same way you believe it your divine right to punish “greed,” I consider it my duty to punish the stupidity and arrogance that is central planning, and because I believe in economic freedom.

I wonder if this is  the beginning of a stampede?

Obama Informs World We’re Not At War With Islam

Via  Atlas Shrugs:

Addressing Turkey’s parliament on his first visit to a Muslim nation as President, Barack Obama reached out to followers of Islam everywhere. “Let me say this as clearly as I can: the United States is not and will never be at war with Islam,” he said, to applause. “In fact, our partnership with the Muslim world is critical in rolling back a fringe ideology that people of all faiths reject.” Obama said the U.S. has been enriched by Muslim Americans, including members of his own family.

Note that he didn’t say, “is not, nor has it ever been…” which would have fit better, in my opinion. His choice of words were inapt because the U.S. never has been at war with Islam, as Bush made clear on many occasions.

Obama could have taken this opportunity in front of a Muslim audience to clear up  any misconceptions  people in that corner of the world have had on that score. But instead, he had to get in another one of his passive aggressive little digs on former President Bush.

The United States was at war with Islamofascism, hence the “global war on terror” phrase which has been put to bed by the Obama administration, and replaced with the absurd “overseas contingency operation”. Terrorists has of course been replaced with “man made disasters”.

Because, apparently, by pretending that there’s no such thing as Islamic terrorism,  it will magically go away, with the receding oceans.

Should we still celebrate Independence Day? Or is that now an outmoded holiday?

Did the NYT’s shitcan this story to protect Obama? Ummm….yes? Duh…

Did the Obama campaign commit fraud with Acorn? Sure looks like it.

Conservative blogs were screaming up and down the right wing blogosphere about Obama’s campaign finance fraud, last year…but does the general public listen to us? Noooooooo. Will people care, now?

Newt Gingrich On The NK Missile Launch,

As Obama spoke dreamily of a world without nuclear weapons, in Prague, Kim Jong Il  thought it would be funny to launch a missile through Japanese airspace, as if to say to Obama and the Euroweenies at the G-20 Summit, “What are you going to do about it, chumps?”

We can forget about Obama taking any kind of leadership role to thwart North Korea’s  nuclear ambitions. He will  follow whatever the U.N. deems appropriate, which will tend to be little or nothing.

The days of “cowboy diplomacy” are over, folks. We’ve gone from “preemptive strikes” to “first responders”…in other words, threats will be allowed to become attacks…..and it will be okay, because we’ll have highly trained professionals to deal with the situation, and the world will love us…..except for the ones who don’t, and won’t ever.

Nonetheless, according to Obama, the goal of total nuclear disarmament is a worthy goal that civilized nations should be working toward.

This YouTube video, that Obama made for the 2008 Presidential election should have disqualified him from the Presidency. The best that realists could hope for, was that this was just a cynical bid for support from the nutroots. But alas, it turns out, he was really serious.:

Ed Morrissey puts the lie such naive thinking:

There has never been a weapon in human history that all people simply decided to stop using, unless a bigger weapon superceded it.  Science does not go backward.  Nuclear weapons will not simply disappear, and it’s childish to believe they will.  What we need is better leadership on how to live in a nuclear world, better commitment to non-proliferation, including the will to force rogue nations into compliance.  Sitting around wishing for the world to forget established science will only make those tasks harder.

Here’s Gingrich on Fox News Sunday With Chris Wallace, saying he would have taken the missile out:

As I’m sure Newt knows, Obama would never follow his advice. Precisely nothing effective will be done to thwart our enemy’s plans.

As Joe Biden might say, “Gird your loins”.

Video: Revolution Talk

It turns out the far right aren’t the only ones prone to such talk. The far left does it, too, (listen at 1:40):

“We’ve got a revolution that needs to take place…” (?!)

Now, obviously, Obama isn’t talking about an armed revolution in this clip from a 2004 interview in Chicago. But this little exchange does give you a good indication of just how radical Obama’s vision for America has been.

Two Points Of View On Obama’s Control Of The Banks

Charles Krauthammer believes the Bank and Auto interventions are  bizarre sideshows; distractions  Obama doesn’t want or need in his quest to transform the American system of government:

In fact, we are now so deep into government intervention that constitutional objections are summarily swept aside. The last Treasury secretary brought the nine largest banks into his office and informed them that henceforth he was their partner. His successor is seeking the power to seize any financial institution at his own discretion.

Despite these astonishments, I remain more amused than alarmed. First, the notion of presidential car warranties strikes me as simply too bizarre, too comical, to mark the beginning of Yankee Peronism.

Second, there is every political incentive to make these interventions in the banks and autos temporary and circumscribed. For President Obama, autos and banks are sideshows. Enormous sideshows, to be sure, but had the financial meltdown and the looming auto bankruptcies not been handed to him, he would hardly have gone seeking to be the nation’s credit and car czar.

Obama has far different ambitions. His goal is to rewrite the American social compact, to recast the relationship between government and citizen. He wants government to narrow the nation’s income and anxiety gaps. Soak the rich for reasons of revenue and justice. Nationalize health care and federalize education to grant all citizens of all classes the freedom from anxiety about health care and college that the rich enjoy. And fund this vast new social safety net through the cash cow of a disguised carbon tax.

Stuart Varney, the British economic journalist, who currently works for the Fox News Channel isn’t quite so so blithe about Obama’s move to control of the banks:

It is not for nothing that rage has been turned on those wicked financiers. The banks are at the core of the administration’s thrust: By managing the money, government can steer the whole economy even more firmly down the left fork in the road.

If the banks are forced to keep TARP cash — which was often forced on them in the first place — the Obama team can work its will on the financial system to unprecedented degree. That’s what’s happening right now.

Here’s a true story first reported by my Fox News colleague Andrew Napolitano (with the names and some details obscured to prevent retaliation). Under the Bush team a prominent and profitable bank, under threat of a damaging public audit, was forced to accept less than $1 billion of TARP money. The government insisted on buying a new class of preferred stock which gave it a tiny, minority position. The money flowed to the bank. Arguably, back then, the Bush administration was acting for purely economic reasons. It wanted to recapitalize the banks to halt a financial panic.

Fast forward to today, and that same bank is begging to give the money back. The chairman offers to write a check, now, with interest. He’s been sitting on the cash for months and has felt the dead hand of government threatening to run his business and dictate pay scales. He sees the writing on the wall and he wants out. But the Obama team says no, since unlike the smaller banks that gave their TARP money back, this bank is far more prominent. The bank has also been threatened with “adverse” consequences if its chairman persists. That’s politics talking, not economics.

Varney states that after living for 35 years in America, he believed he never would see such class warfare.

I’m not sure who’s right, ( I have my suspicions)… but I think the difference is between being very afraid, and very, very afraid.

Video: Obama Meets Brazilian President

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva recently made headlines when he said of the Worldwide financial crisis:

This is a crisis that was caused by white people with blue eyes. And before the crisis, they looked as if they knew everything about economics.

He was speaking Obama’s language. Look how thrilled Obama was to meet him:

Obama shook hands with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and said: “This is my man, right here. I love this guy.” He was so taken by him he returned to  disingenuously gush, “You’re the most popular politician on earth…it’s because of your good looks.”  That’s when da Silva took off his glasses and stared at Obama with a WTF? look on his face.

Odd.

Oh…I think I understand the attraction, now:

President, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, is one of the  founders of The Workers Party.

The Workers’ Party (Partido dos Trabalhadores, PT) is a center-left social-democratic political party in Brazil. It is recognized as one of the largest and most important left-wing leadership movements of Latin America.

Political Ideology Democratic socialism,

While Washington’s attention is focused on the Middle East, communism and communist terrorism are threatening America’s security in Latin America, where another Axis of Evil is spreading its tentacles throughout the region.Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is getting credit from the Internatinal Monetary Fund and Wall Street’s useful idiots for following the orthodox economic policies of former president Fernando Cardoso while plunging his nation into communism and allying himself with Fidel Castro and Castro’s puppet in Venezuela, Hugo Chavez.

So radical is the regime under Lula that the Rio de Janeiro city council recently declared President Bush persona non grata by passing a resolution offered by Fernando Gusmao, a councilman affiliated with Brazil’s Communist Party.

Brazilian-American Gerald Brant, a writer and former candidate for Brazil’s congress, wrote that “anti-American sentiment has grown so high in Brazil that President Bush received a lower approval rating among Brazilians than Saddam Hussein in an opinion poll conducted during the war in Iraq by the respected IBOPE Institute. This phenomenon has some relation to the Brazilian Workers’ Party’s (known as PT) attitudes towards the US.”

A Tale Of Two Bows

I was withholding judgment on Obama’s bow to the Saudi King, because I was hearing conflicting reports about how the Obama’s greeted the Queen. Some reports said that they neglected to bow and curtsy, other reports were saying that they did. I concluded that if Obama bowed to the Queen of England, then his bow to the King of Saudi Arabia was at least consistent, if inappropriate, and I wasn’t in the mood to jump on the outrage bandwagon.

But both bows were captured on film, and this video tells the story:

Draw your own conclusions.

Keep in mind, that although President Bush was roundly criticized and ridiculed for holding hands with the Saudi King, there was nothing improper about it. Holding hands is a sign of friendship, not submission.

Also notice that the King didn’t bother to return the gesture. Perhaps that is because The Saudi King, himself believes it was inappropriate:

New Saudi King Abdullah has effectively banned citizens from kissing his hand or that of any member of the royal family, saying only fathers and mothers deserved such reverence.

“Brothers, there is something on my mind I want to tell you,” King Abdullah told delegations of princes, officials and ordinary citizens at his palace in the Red Sea city of Jeddah.

“Kissing hands is something alien to our values and ethics, and is refused by free and honest souls,” he said, quoted by the official SPA news agency.

“Moreover, it leads to bowing, which violates God’s law as the faithful bows only to the one and only God.

Just thinking…you know, if Obama wasn’t sure what the proper protocol was for greeting the Saudi King, he could have watched what the other heads of states did.

But no, Obama chose to stand out…his  deep bow seems to be a deliberate sign of reverence.

Listen to Beth at Blue Star Chronicles:

Much worse than the curtsy to the Queen of England was the deep subservient bow to the Saudi King. When Obama met Saudi Arabian King Abdullah, he sank into a bow that made some watching wonder if he was fixing to lick the king’s shoes. At its best it is unbecoming of an American President to bow to a foreign king, or its just clueless.

Does bowing, deep bowing, to the King of Saudi Arabia leave much doubt as to where Obama’s loyalties lie? His has made numerous attempts to court the Arab world since he’s been president.

Indeed.

UPDATE:

Lucianne.com is even more blunt, calling this “The difference between Obama’s greeting to an Episcopalian and to a Muslim”.

UPDATE II:

Captain Ed has thinks he’s figured out why the press has been AWOL on this story – they’ve been told that it wasn’t a bow…Obama was simply picking something up off of the floor:

So where would they get the idea that President Obama assigned himself
the task of cleaning the floor? I’d assume that Obama’s press office
pushed that meme out hard yesterday when the video first came out, and
they didn’t bother to check it. Considering Anderson Cooper’s long missive about the Obama’s brief head nod to Queen Elizabeth, the silence on this greeting seems astonishing.

National media — when will you report this? 2013?

I’d say, mid-November, 2012.

UPDATE:

Those of us who have taken the initiative to look into Obama’s background do know of at least one Saudi connection, one Dr. Khalid al-Mansour, who facilitated the funding for Obama’s education at Harvard.

Insufferable!: Obama Tells World U.S. Got “Sidetracked” In Iraq

“We got sidetracked in Iraq” – tell that to her:

iraq-vote

Disgraceful!:

Welcomed with thunderous cheers, President Barack Obama pledged on Friday to work repair damaged relations with Europe, saying the world came together following the 2001 terrorist attacks but then “we got sidetracked by Iraq.”

“We must be honest with ourselves,” Obama said. “In recent years, we’ve allowed our alliance to drift.”

The new U.S. president said that despite the bitter feelings that were generated by Iraq, the United States and its allies must stand together because “al-Qaida is still a threat.”

Speaking before a French and German audience at a town-hall style gathering, Obama encouraged skeptical Europe to support his retooled strategy for rooting out terrorism suspects in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

We got sidetracked by Iraq and we have not fully recovered that initial insight that we have a mutual interest in ensuring that organizations like al-Qaida cannot operate,” he said. “I think it is important for Europe to understand that even though I am president and George Bush is not president, al-Qaida is still a threat.”

Jim Hoft notes, dryly:

For the record, the majority of European countries, except Spain, elected Pro-US leaders during the Bush years.
The new European leaders are also more conservative than President Obama.

You know, I can forgive the guy for the lame gifts, and  inappropriate and awkward bows, but for Obama to go to France, (the country that brought us the oil for food scandal!), and essentially apologize for our actions in Iraq, (which liberated millions of people, incidentally), bashing Bush in the process,….is more than I can take. It’s like sending the average commenter at Daily Kos to Europe to represent the United States. I couldn’t be more mortified, and enraged.

WHAT?

Just reread some of his words:

“…we have not fully recovered that initial insight that we have a mutual interest in ensuring that organizations like al-Qaida cannot operate, he said, “I think it is important for Europe to understand that even though I am president and George Bush is not president, al-Qaida is still a threat.”…”

Yeah…because it’s really insightful to understand that these  murderous maniacs need to be stopped. It takes The Messiah to remind everyone of this. The eeeevil Bush made us all forget it because “we took our eyes off the ball”…*groan!* Thanks for clearing all that up for us, Lightworker.

But seriously, folks.  I don’t know why anyone’s surprised.  Obama for two years told us what he’s all about.  Made it clear as day.  And everyone just sort of…looked the other way. ”Oh, he’s not a socialist!  He’s just saying those things to keep the far left loonies happy.  You watch, he’ll govern from the center.”

Dreams

lovebunny1Created by Darleen Glick, Protein Wisdom

I remember hearing stories during the ’90′s, about women who dreamed and fantasized about Bill Clinton. In fact, in 1994, there was a book written about this not uncommon phenomenon, called  Dreams of Bill, which also coincided, I believe, with the the the emergence of the abbreviation, TMI.

Here’s a typical entry:

The dream took place in another city, but I don’t know which. I was dressed provocatively and I was waiting for the President with a male Clinton staffer. The staffer indicated for me to open the door which led to a private bedroom where President Clinton was awaiting me. I don’t remember any introductions or niceties. We immediately embraced and consummated the most erotic encounter.

After the fireworks, he quickly departed, leaving me feeling quite cheap. I also somehow knew in my dream that these rendezvous were arranged almost nightly with a different woman each time. I wondered how they kept it from the press, and especially from the First Lady.
– Carmen , Housewife and Mother of Three
Age: 36
Dallas, Texas

That almost reads like a true story.

15 years later, and liberal women are at it again, as chronicled by Judith Warner of The New York Times, who shared her own experience:

The other night I dreamt of Barack Obama. He was taking a shower right when I needed to get into the bathroom to shave my legs, and then he was being yelled at by my husband, Max, for smoking in the house. It was not clear whether Max was feeling protective of the president’s health or jealous because of the cigarette.

She launched an email inquiry to see if other (liberal) women were “likewise obsessed” with the Obamas. Of course, of course…

Many women — not too surprisingly — were dreaming about sex with the president. In these dreams, the women replaced Michelle with greater or lesser guilt or, in the case of a 62-year-old woman in North Florida, whose dream was reported to me by her daughter, found a fully above-board solution: “Michelle had divorced Barack because he had become ‘too much of a star.’ He then married my mother, who was oh so proud to be the first lady,” the daughter wrote me.

There was some daydreaming too, much of it a collective fantasy about the still-hot Obama marriage. “Barack and Michelle Obama look like they have sex. They look like they like having sex,” a Los Angeles woman wrote to me, summing up the comments of many. “Often. With each other. These days when the sexless marriage is such a big celebrity in America (and when first couples are icons of rigid propriety), that’s one interesting mental drama.”

Then there are the women who don’t confine their fantasies to their dreams, but have  waking fantasies, and even act on them…

Warning: Those of you with strong gag reflexes,  please proceed with caution:

He spoke for about 10 minutes, then took questions from the audience. Without notes or a teleprompter, he answered them eloquently and with genuine emotion. If I hadn’t been an Obama Mama before, I was now. I was completely enraptured and captivated. Someone called out, “I love you, Obama!” and he replied, “I love y’all, too,” chuckling as he said it. He used the entire stage, moving like a sleek lion, looking into the eyes of 3,000 people, resting on one, then another’s face, his hand frequently stretched out as if to try and touch us, or the future.

And then he closed it down, put a stamp on it and mailed it to the world. We were on our feet, screaming for him, and I realized when he stepped down that he was going to walk around the perimeter of green fence rails surrounding the podium to shake hands and press some California flesh.

He started on the far side, away from me. The crowd caught on and the air in the building became thin and frantic. I began to panic a little; people were starting to rush forward, and I was right up front, but the Secret Service was ON it, looking over and ordering people to back up (nobody f***s with the Secret Service).

Denis, the gentleman who’d unknowingly saved me a seat, had my camera in his hand. I’d been telling him how much I wanted a picture with the President. Denis kept saying, “Just wait until I tell you. Stay right there and turn this way …” For a few moments, I caught glimpses of the President coming down the line, people everywhere, all over and around him, like when you pour gravy on rice ~ he was saturated with hands, arms, bodies, the Secret Service like a safety net around his back and to the sides.

I looked up into the eyes of the President, and he looked down into mine. I laid my left hand on his bare right arm, thrust my right hand into his, and said, “I’ve been waiting for you since I was 12 years old. Thank you, Mr. President.” I stood as tall as my 5′ could reach (he’s 6 feet 90 or something), raised my head and leaned in, and he leaned down towards me. Suddenly, I kissed him on the cheek. I don’t know why, I had nothing else to say that wouldn’t take 20 minutes, I kissed him, and he didn’t pull away. There was one of those kinda-sorta-almost shoulder hugs, not really touching, almost there, so I kissed him again, and again he didn’t pull away. And damn, if I didn’t kiss him again! He smiled down at me ~ he looked directly into my eyes ~ and said, simply, “Thank you.”

Why did conservative women not behave that way during Bush’s Presidency? Bush is not unattractive…he was relatively young and virile when he was elected in 2000. I could admire his many fine qualities, but good Lord…it ended there.  Obama isn’t that attractive to me, frankly. He has a nice smile, to be sure, but when he’s not flashing his pearly whites, his face has a dour, even menacing quality. And he’s scrawny.

Is it possible that conservative women are not as governed by their baser instincts as liberal women are?

The following is a recent example of the type of dream a conservative woman has:

The Rush Limbaugh Show, April 1, 2009:

RUSH:  Oh, I love these kind of calls.  Do you know how exciting it is for a guy to have a woman tell him that she dreamed about him?  I can’t wait to hear this.  What was the dream?

CALLER:  I wish it were exciting.  But we were living in a post-Obama America.  I’m not sure that we were all the way communist yet, but we were certainly some sort of socialist nation.

RUSH:  Wait a minute.  Keep going.  Just I’m a little shocked here.  Keep going.

CALLER:  I will.  We were in some sort of seminar that we were required to take, and I was sitting at a table, and you sat next to me.  A man in another part of the classroom stood up and yelled over, “Rush!  I heard O’Reilly pulled the plug on his show today and that you’re next.”  And I of course said, “Absolutely not, Rush would not leave us, we need him now,” and I turned to look at you, and you had a very sympathetic, sad look on your face, and you nodded yes, to which I immediately burst in tears and said, “No, no, you can’t.”

RUSH:  This is not a dream.

CALLER:  I swear, I swear.

RUSH:  No, no.  This is a nightmare.

CALLER:  It was.  It was very sad.  I was crying.

RUSH:  I mean I was expecting to hear stories of an island in the Caribbean, some –

CALLER: (laughing) I wish.

RUSH:  — pina coladas, a nice isolated suite with a ceiling fan.

CALLER:  I do wish that was the dream, but here’s how you comforted me.  There was no paper around, there was nothing for you to give me, and you took off your shoe, and on it you wrote, “Don’t fear,” and you signed your name.  I think you intended it to be my security blanket through the tribulations to come.

RUSH:  I want to assure you that those aspects of your dream will not come to pass.

CALLER:  I pray they won’t.

RUSH:  O’Reilly giving up his show, well, that might happen.  But the other aspects of it, this will not happen.  This is a sign of the fear, that people are dreaming about Obama camps, reeducation camps.  All right, Ann, thanks much.

Rush is right, this woman’s dream is indicative of the angst and fear so many of us are feeling as Obama’s insane policies take us all over the cliff. What’s next? When is the other shoe going to drop? I wonder how many other conservative women are having doomsday nightmares about Obama? How many conservative women have dreams about Rush?

The Anchoress had a vivid “adventure dream” (that’s what I call the sort of fun dream she describes) starring El Rushbo. Have you ever had a dream like that, that seems to have been directed by Steven  Spielberg, and you don’t want it to end? She shared her dream on her site, and one of her readers even made a movie poster for her.

Everybody dreams….often about famous people…but what’s with all the slobbering sexual fantasies? To me that signifies an unhealthy degree of devotion, or something. I rarely remember my dreams…I know I had an interesting one last night, and I remembered it for a few minutes this morning, but then I completely lost it. Maybe I need a dream journal.

UPDATE:

CindyM shares a dream she had about Obama:

I had a dream about Obama but in my dream, we were driving down a highway (I was driving) and we were arguing. I remember being really mad and finally saying, “No, it won’t work!” Then, I woke up. True story.

I’d love to hear more of these.

Hi there Anchoress readers! Come on now, don’t be shy!

From Erika:

I dreamed about Obama, before the election.

I was a rushbaby and this is actually a dream I had in high school. In the dream, I was older and I’d won some kind of writing award and Rush was the person to present it. Flash to later in the evening and we were arguing over cocktails. Friendly banter over something inconsequential. Yep, that’s the dream. I got to argue over cocktails with el Rushbo.

Z:

I had a dream about O before the Democratic Convention, actually.

In the dream, I was walking down a corridor in a hotel with O and his campaign manager. I, being myself, said something snarky and less than complementary to O. As we reached the doorway to a corner stairway, the manager put his hand on the knob to the door and, turning to me, said “Be careful, you don’t know that he isn’t a witch.”

[I should noted that "witch" in the dream did not mean pagan, wiccan, or most of the self-identified witches of contemporary parlance. It meant more "evil, malicious user of evil, malicious powers"]

I rolled my eyes, replying “Well, if he is, I haven’t seen anything remotely impressive in that area.”

This seemed to irritate O, and he turned to glare into my eyes, and I felt him trying to do something, trying to impose his will on my own (as, my dream self knew, he had done to so many others). In response, I. . . sorta. . . puffed myself up, like an angry cat, in a psychic way, sending the message “You really don’t want to mess with me!”

People’s heads popped out of doorways, seemingly amazed that anyone was challenging this man as I was.

O snarled, and stalked off with his campaign manager, down the stairs, as I stood in the doorway, watching them go. In the dream, I slipped into trance, and saw a brief vision of a street in a large american city (New York or Chicago would be my guess), literally running with a river of blood. In my trance, I spoke aloud the following: “If that man is given The Office, the streets shall be covered in blood.”

I then came out of my trance, people looking at me like I had three heads, and even I was pretty weirded out, wondering what the hell had happened.

[I pretty much cuta nd pasted from my LJ since it had been a while]. Anyway, that’s what I once dreamed about him.
