Abortion Dr. George Tiller Gunned Down, Suspect In Custody

My first reaction to this news…shock and sadness. However much I disapproved of what Tiller did for a living, I do think that he sincerely believed that he was providing a valuable service. And  the manner in which he was assassinated – gunned down in church - is horrible! My condolences go out to his family.

Dr. George Tiller, one of the nation’s few providers of late-term abortions despite decades of protests and attacks, was shot and killed Sunday in a church where he was serving as an usher.

The gunman fled, but a 51-year-old suspect was detained some 170 miles away in suburban Kansas City three hours after the shooting, Wichita Deputy Police Chief Tom Stolz said.

Although Stolz refused to release the man’s name, Johnson County sheriff’s spokesman Tom Erickson identified the detained man as Scott Roeder. He has not been charged in the slaying and was expected to be taken to Wichita for questioning.

Gateway Pundit has some additional info on the suspect, who has been identified :

It was not his first arrest.
Free Republic had this from the ADL:

Scott Roeder is sentenced to sixteen months in state prison for parole violations following a 1996 conviction for having bomb components in his car trunk. Roeder, a sovereign citizen and tax protester, violated his parole by not filing tax returns or providing his social security number to his employer. He is a pro-lifer, except when he kills abortionists:

UPDATE 3: Scott Roeder was convicted back in 1996 on bomb charges.
This guy was a nut… and a killer.

UPDATE 4: Roeder was a “Freemen” member:

Topeka, Kan. – Preliminary hearing for Scott Roeder, Freemen member charged with possessing bomb parts.

The Freemen are a radical anti-government group.

Info on the Freeman movement, here.

UPDATE 5: Roeder was on the FBI’s list as a Freeman member back in 1996 when he was arrested:

See Gateway Pundit for screenshot.

So, from what we know so far…this wacko was anti-abortion, and anti-tax.

Great. Just great.

I wonder how the media is going to spin this?

Something tells me that Glenn Beck, and Craig T. Nelson’s anti-tax rebellion just stalled in a big way.

Blogger Ponders Pravda Piece

It’s a great story, because if anybody knows Marxism, the Russians should:

American capitalism gone with a whimper

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Read on…it’s hard hitting stuff, which is why blogger after blogger after blogger, after blogger after blogger after friggin’ blogger is linking to it, this weekend. Every time I turn around – whoops! There’s that Pravda story, again!

Doug Ross: Daily Dealergate: A “Dealer Council” and Reverse Discrimination

The latest development: Chrysler’s “Dealer Council” posted a letter at the new Chrysler LLC website. It says that the remaining Chrysler dealers are as pleased as punch with the way the dealership shuffle turned out.

It turns out seven of the dealers were Democrat contributors while three gave to GOP candidates (one was Ron Paul, so the figure is really two).

Josh Painter then sinks the knife in deep with a spot-on coup de grâce:

“If, as the Obama apologists claim, that most car dealers are Republicans, why does the Chrysler Dealer Council have more than twice as many dealers on it who donated to Democrats than those who gave to GOP candidates? Memo to Obama attack dog Robert Gibbs: stop pooping on our lawn

Ouch. Not impressed with Gibbs..not impressed with Obama. Here’s a taste:

Memo to US Press secetary Robert Gibbs

1. Congratulations. Your presidential regime has managed to secure the most supine, slobbering, spineless, unquestioning media coverage since Enver Hoxha’s Albania. A report last month by the Center for Media and Public Affairs said Obama has received more coverage than his two predecessors combined. On ABC, CBS and NBC news the majority of evaluations – 58 per cent – have been favourable. (Compare GW Bush – 33 per cent; Bill Clinton 44 per cent – in first 50 days of office). More importantly, you have Pravda. Yes, no less than 73 per cent of all evaluative comments in your chief propaganda organ – aka The New York Times – have been favourable to Obama.

2. Sure your congenitally libtard Mainstream Media were probably biased that way anyway, but you have played your part. Your combative style – which led you to dismiss the entire British print media just now in one glib, sneering phrase – has earned you the nickname “The Enforcer.” You have a reputation for coming down hard on any media outlet which doesn’t follow your approved version of reality. “I work the referee a little bit,” as you once put it. (A reference, perhaps, to when you played goalkeeper for your college football team).

Go read the entire thing. I think it’s safe to say that the James Delingpole is not “enchanted”.

Item two:

kimjongil

Barack Obama: all the bad guys are giving President Pantywaist the finger

HAHAHHAHAHAHA…. heh. ….*sob!!*:

Kim Jong-il, the charismatic and popular (if you are a Pyongyang resident and covet a life expectancy of more than 24 hours) Dear Leader of North Korea, is on his sixth or seventh missile this week. See the pretty vapour trails streak across Asian skies, in an impressive firework display to celebrate the arrival of President Pantywaist in the Oval Office.

School’s out! Suddenly it is playtime for all the naughtier elements in the more “reclusive” parts of the world who enjoy kicking Uncle Sam’s butt but didn’t much relish tangling with Dick Cheney and (what was that other guy’s name?). This time Comrade Kim is really throwing his toys out of the playpen. He has even unilaterally revoked the 1953 armistice between the Korean War belligerents, which means, in case anybody is interested, that North and South Korea are once more at war.

So, what is the response of the Messiah in the Oval Office? Really severe rhetoric, is the answer. The soundbite manufacturers have been burning the midnight oil and the auto-cue is going into meltdown. So is the confidence of Asian leaders. The word is out: the most powerful nation on earth has got itself a pussycat for a president and all the bad guys are queuing up to give him the finger.

Again, read on. It’s cathartic, albeit disturbing.

Of course, that was Gerald Warner who was never fooled for a minute.

Why Would The DOJ Dismiss The Charges Against The New Black Panthers?

blackpantherracism1

The New Black Panthers were big Obama boosters during the ’08 campaign

Speaking of criminal enterprises, how about that Justice Dept. ruling on the New Black Panther Voter intimidation case?

Michelle Malkin, again:

Last week, I called the Justice Department to inquire about an unusual decision they made to dismiss default judgements in a voter intimidation lawsuit the government filed under the Bush administration against the New Black Panther Party.

You remember the case of the menacing NBPP thugs who threatened voters at a Philly precinct. I blogged about it many times since the fall.

The Bush DOJ filed suit against Malik Shabazz and two of the local NBPP radicals who were on site — one with a billy club. None of them filed an answer to the lawsuit, putting them all into default. I am told this is the easiest way to win a lawsuit. But instead of taking the default judgment that DOJ is entitled to against all of the defendants, the department last week dismissed the lawsuit against two out of the three defendants. As Election Journal (which broke the story with exclusive video of the intimidation) notes, one of the individual defendants who was dismissed, Jerry Jackson, “is an elected member of the Philadelphia Democratic Committee and was a credentialed poll watcher.”

According to a legal source familiar with DOJ procedures, dismissing a lawsuit won by default is unheard of.

Gabe has more at AoSHQ.

Armed thugs blocked voting stations and said, “You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker.”

Obama’s Justice dept doesn’t have a problem with that.

UPDATE (June 2):

A little more about this from the Corner’s, Hans A. von Spakovsky:

The Southern Poverty Law Center says that the New Black Panther Party is a hate group, similar to the Ku Klux Klan. Whether that is so or not, two of the officers of the NBPP were caught red-handed, one brandishing a weapon, threatening white voters at the polls. One complaining witness, Bartle Bull (a former Robert Kennedy campaign staffer and civil-rights lawyer) said “it would qualify as the most blatant form of voter intimidation” he had ever encountered.

As a former DOJ alumnus, I have never, ever heard of the Division refusing to take a default judgment, especially in a situation where the defendants are basically admitting they violated the law. The facts indicting the DOJ seem damning, and no good explanation seems possible. Indeed, it raises a serious question whether straightforward but pernicious racial-identity politics are at play, the same kind driving
the president’s Supreme Court nomination. Do the same people who excuse Sonia Sotomayor’s racist speeches allow Holder and Co. to dismiss racist intimidation by the New Black Panther Party? Should application of the civil-rights laws (by Sotomayor in the Ricci case and the DOJ in the NBPP case) really  turn on the sympathies the officials have for different racial litigants? Should racist minority members get a pass when whites would not? Does the Left believe that only white supremacists (or Republicans) can engage in racism or intimidation of voters? Do the prohibitions in federal voting-rights laws not apply to radical organizations with Marxist orientations?

This scandalous DOJ action also is consistent with the partisan decision I wrote about recently in NRO where the Civil Rights Division dismissed a lawsuit under the National Voter Registration Act. The suit was dismissed without explanation just one month after the Democratic defendant announced she was running for the Senate. Race and partisan politics seems to have completely permeated the decision-making in the Civil Rights Division. Unless there is some other convincing non-discriminatory reason for their actions, Eric Holder and the president must be held to account for these brewing scandals.

I’m sure as soon as the media is through blaming pro-lifers for late term abortionist, Dr. Tiller’s murder, they’ll be all over this story.

ACORN Is A Criminal Enterprise

Kris Kobach, running for Kansas Secretary of State  sums up his motivation in just one word:

“ACORN,” he told a modest audience that gathered Thursday for lunch at Salina’s Western Sizzlin restaurant.

Salina is one of eight cities Kobach, who until recently was chairman of the Kansas Republican Party, is visiting to announce his desire to be secretary of state.

ACORN — the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — is an aggressive get-out-the-vote organization that represents low- and moderate-income people nationally. “Since 1970, ACORN has been building community organizations that are committed to social and economic justice,” its Web site says.

Kobach describes it differently.

“ACORN is a criminal enterprise,” he said Thursday.

He said 12 ACORN workers in Missouri were convicted of violating voter laws in connection with 2006 elections.

Voter fraud was the central theme of Kobach’s campaign stop. He warned of the “rise of ACORN” and said it was only after the November election that he learned ACORN has three offices in Kansas.

“We didn’t find out until after the election how busy they have been in Kansas,” he said.

Read the entire article. Good luck to Kobach. He’s fighting a good fight.

If you haven’t read Michelle Malkin’s document drop on ACORN, yet…better get over there. The spotlight is on this criminal enterprise, and it’s not going away anytime, soon.

Video: Robert Gibbs Discusses Context

We’ve seen this before. Whenever a lib says something completely off the wall, aghast conservatives are chastened to read/listen to the quote in context. Remember Reverend Wright’s greatest hits: “G-d damn America”, “chickens coming home to roost”, “white America, US of KKK-A”, etc.  Remember how lefties told us we were being unfair, and we needed to hear the entire sermons in context to “get” what he was saying…so we’d dutifully head over to YouTube to find the entire sermon, to give him a fair shake…and we’d end up just as appalled as before?

Yeah:

Whether born from experience or inherent physiological or cultural differences, a possibility I abhor less or discount less than my colleague Judge Cedarbaum, our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging. Justice O’Connor has often been cited as saying that a wise old man and wise old woman will reach the same conclusion in deciding cases. I am not so sure Justice O’Connor is the author of that line since Professor Resnik attributes that line to Supreme Court Justice Coyle. I am also not so sure that I agree with the statement. First, as Professor Martha Minnow has noted, there can never be a universal definition of wise. Second, I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.

See…for me, that context didn’t help… in fact, the quote in complete context is even worse. Sonia Sotomayer disagrees with Justice O’Conner that a wise old man and a wise old woman, would reach the same conclusion in deciding a case?

Somehow…a Latina woman (with her “compelling personal history”) would reach a better…wiser conclusion?

B.S.!

So what’s left? Vague warnings:

“Be careful…”

Dealergate: Additional Research Shows Closing Bias (UPDATED)

Chrysler-dealer-photoshop

It’s important to note that Chrysler’s leadership did not want these closings. This is being orchestrated by Obama’s automotive task force:

Lawyer Leonard Bellavia, of Bellavia Gentile & Associates, who represents some of the terminated dealers, said he deposed Chrysler President Jim Press on Tuesday and came away with the impression that Press did not support the plan… “It became clear to us that Chrysler does not see the wisdom of terminating 25 percent of its dealers,” Bellavia said. “It really wasn’t Chrysler’s decision. They are under enormous pressure from the President’s automotive task force.”

Who heads up the automotive task force? Steven Rattner, who, earlier this spring,  reportedly berated the head of a non-TARP Chrysler hedge fund with this outburst:

Who the f*** do you think you’re dealing with? We’ll have the IRS audit your fund. Every one of your employees. Your investors. Then we will have the Securities and Exchange Commission rip through your books looking for anything and everything and nothing we find to destroy you with.

World Net Daily took a look at all of the dealerships on the closing list:

WND reviewed the list of 789 closing franchises and databases of political donors and found that of dealership majority owners making contributions in the November 2008 election, less than 10 percent gifted to Democrats while 90 percent gave substantial sums to Republican candidates. The listed franchise owners contributed at least $450,000 to Republican presidential candidates and the GOP, while only $7,970 was donated to Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign and $2,200 was given to Sen. John Edwards’ campaign. Obama received a combined total of only $450 in donations – $250 from dealer Jane Baldock in Wenatchee, Wash., and $200 from Waco, Texas, dealer Jeffrey Hunter. Many of the majority owners who donated to Republican campaigns last year also contributed additional thousands to George W. Bush’s presidential campaign in 2004 and to help elect GOP representatives.

Many people have wondered if these numbers simply reflect an overwhelming Republican leaning in car dealers. The stats for the dealerships remaining open are still being researched, but Doug Ross has found one company that kept popping up on the list of dealerships remaining open.

The company is RLJ-McLarty-Landers, which owns six Chrysler dealerships. All six dealerships are on “the safe list.” RLJ’s owners “are Steve Landers (long-time car dealer, 4th-generation dealer), Thomas “Mack” McLarty (former Chief of Staff for President Clinton), and Robert Johnson (founder of Black Entertainment Television and co-owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats)… McLarty campaigned for Obama in 2008, and Johnson has given countless amounts of money to Democrats over the years.

Go take a look at all of these RLJ dealerships and the surrounding dealerships that are being shuttered. Ross asks…what are the odds?

What are the Odds?

All other factors being equal, what are the odds that RLJ’s dealerships would remain open while all other area dealerships would be shuttered? The approximate odds of such an occurrence can be calculated. 789 of the Chrysler’s dealerships are closing, which represents 25% of the total (according to MSNBC). Recall that Chrysler claimed that its formula for determining whether a dealership should close or not included “sales volume, customer service scores, local market share and average household income in the immediate area.” Thus, the odds that any, randomly selected, single dealership would remain open is roughly 75%. The odds that a single dealership would close is roughly 25%. In the Bentonville, AR territory, the odds that RLJ would remain while its competition gets axed is .75 * .25 * .25 = .046875 (4.6%). In Huntsville, AL, the odds are .75 * .25 * .25 = .046875. In Branson, MO, .75 * .25 *.25 *.25 = .01171875. In Lee’s Summit, MO, .75 * .25 *.25 *.25 *.25 = .0029296875. In Shreveport, LA, .75 * .25 *.75 = .140625.

What are the odds of all of these RLJ dealerships remaining open while their competitors are wiped out? Maybe 1/10,000,000 of 1%. Yes, that’s one ten-millionth of one percent.

Chrysler Dealership Campaign Donation Information continues to investigate the dealerships that remain open. I wouldn’t count on the MSM to get this story out, but the  lawyers for the closed dealerships should be mighty interested. UPDATE: NTDTV covered a dealer protest over Chrysler’s termination plans:

What (Lawyer Leonard) Bellavia and his representees want to know, is why them? Bellavia and the protesters believe that US government’s task force initiated the terminations…and not Chrysler.

UPDATE II (May 28):

Gateway Pundit is on this story: Hope & Change– Car Czar Behind Chrysler Closings Married to Former Dem Party Leader

Car Czar Steve Rattner and wife Maureen White, who is the former National Finance Chair of Democratic Party. Rattner and his Auto Task Force decided on which dealerships would close and which would stay open.

and

Dealergate Number Crunching: Looking at US Dealership Political Donations

** Earlier it was reported that the Obama Administration may have targeted GOP donors in deciding which Chrysler dealerships would have to close their doors. ** Later it was discovered that a Big Dem Donor Group was allowed to keep all 6 Chrysler dealerships open…. And, their local competitors were eliminated. ** The Auto Task Force, which includes Obama cabinet members, is reportedly calling the shots on which dealerships will close and stay open. ** Steven Rattner leads The Auto Task Force and is married to the former National Finance Chair of Democratic Party, Maureen White. ** The closings in several instances appear to benefit Dem donating dealers where local GOP-linked dealerships were closed. ** Even Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla) lost his Chrysler dealership in Florida and found out from a colleague on the House floor. ** Lithia Motor Group’s owners gave $15,000 to two Democrat candidates and support nationalized healthcare. They will likely lose just two of 29 dealerships and gain 5 more. ** One report claims the odds that these Chrysler closings occurred without partisan bias are less than 1%. ** After closing the 789 dealerships Chrysler announced that they are already looking to open new franchises.

Mark Tapscott at the Washington Examiner looks at the *most car dealers Republican* argument:

…two points should be noted here. First, even if we accept the proposition that most car dealers are more likely to be Republican than Democratic donors, there would still be a “disparate impact” from closings on one class of dealers, compared to the other. When the federal courts see a disparate impact on racial groups, the policy or action in question is typically held to be inappropriate. Race and car dealer closings, of course, aren’t analogous. But the lesson remains that when government makes economic decisions that ought to be left to the private market, it is impossible to avoid disparate impacts. And there is always the question of would the Obama White House be so quick to close hundreds of dealerships if the owners of those dealerships were predominantly Democratic donors? Second, since neither Chrysler, nor the White House have made public the criteria used to select dealers for elimination – and because a significant number of those being closed were profitable – the only way to resolve the inevitable controversy about political considerations in political decisions is to make the criteria public and allow independent outside observers to assess how those criteria were applied. I’m not holding my breath on the likelihood of that happening any time soon.

Mike Sargent at Newsbusters is looking at the media angle – Chrysler Conservatives Axed – Only Blogs Investigate:

The odds are massively against this pattern emerging – to the tune of 1/10,000,000 of 1% [h/t Doug Ross].  By comparison, you have a better chance of being struck by lightning this year (1/400,000); Mine That Bird had a better shot at being the winner of the Kentucky Derby (a glue-factory refugee which was the longest-shot winner since Donerail won on 91-1 odds in 1913), and Buster Douglas had of knocking out Mike Tyson.

In all fairness, it must still be determined what overall percentage of these small-business owners actually donate to political parties and candidates.  One might assume that, since they are small-business owners, they are overwhelmingly supportive of the GOP.  But assumption is not the job of a vigilant press.  One would at least hope that with the odds being so stacked against the emerging pattern, the professional curiosity of journalists would get the better of them – or at least some of them.  Never fear, however; journalists have been inoculated against the disease of curiosity.

Ann Coulter Tag Teamed By Sawyer And Carville On Good Morning America

Sawyer and Carville live to tell the tale:

Mike Sargent at Newsbusters kept score:

A total of nine questions were asked of the two pundits, seven of which went to Coulter.  Carville, on the other hand, was simply allowed to respond to Coulter without questioning – an unfiltered rebuttal, with free airtime provided by ABC. This, however, was not the most egregious point of controversy.  Carville was allowed, with no challenge from the host, to provide ad-hominem attacks against conservatives – as well as irrelevant, non-sequitur praise for Judge Sonia Sotomayor.

That’s okay, Coulter can hold her own in a whole roomful of  enchanted media sycophants. It’s what she does.

See Newsbusters for the transcript.

Remember This?

Here’s Obama talking tough about Iran in the second debate with John Mccain.

Just watch the first part where he says we will not allow Iran to get a nuclear weapon:

“We cannot allow Iran to get a nuclear weapon. It would be a game-changer in the region. Not only would it threaten Israel, our strongest ally in the region and one of our strongest allies in the world, but it would also create a possibility of nuclear weapons falling into the hands of terrorists. And so it’s unacceptable. And I will do everything that’s required to prevent it. And we will never take military options off the table.”

Because it looks to some like Obama is not going to keep that promise.

Caroline Glick’s take on Obama’s Iran policy:

During his ad hoc press conference with Netanyahu, Obama made clear that he will not lift a finger to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. And acting as Obama’s surrogate, for the past two weeks CIA Director Leon Panetta has made clear that Obama expects Israel to also sit on its thumbs as Iran develops the means to destroy it.

And Dick Morris said:

“Those sunshine Jewish patriots who voted for Obama must realize that we, as Jews, are witnessing the possible end of Israel. We are in the same moral position as our ancestors were as they watched Hitler rise but did nothing to pressure their favorite liberal Democratic president, FDR, to take any real action to save them or even to let Jewish refugees into the country. If we remain complacent, we will have the same anguish at watching the destruction of Israel that our forebears had in witnessing the Holocaust.

Because one thing is increasingly clear: Barack Obama is not about to lift a finger to stop Iran from developing the bomb. And neither is Hillary Clinton.”

Did that campaign promise already expire?

Barack Come Home!!

So here we are, what with our economic woes, staffing problems in the administration, huge domestic policy changes, and Congress running rampant and often contra to the wishes of the President. And where is President Obama? Planning more trips to foreign lands.

It’s usually the Republican presidents who neglect domestic policy, but at this point I think we can safely say that our current President has decided quite consciously to set his sights abroad. He sure does seem to like to get out of the US:

Presidential-Travel

And that’s not counting his domestic travel – in particular his ill-timed fund-raising trip for Harry Reid and the like. With unemployment scheduled to break 9% this month, I think I’d prefer that he keep his fanny in Washington and start giving us some of that oversight of government spending that he promised.

On the other hand, it will be fun to watch him visit the Saudi king again. He’ll be so stiff trying to avoid looking like he’s prostrating himself that it should make for great video footage.

And maybe his time abroad will slow down his poorly considered health care reform nonsense.

“Mark my words,” the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

“I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate,” Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. “And he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you – not financially to help him – we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”

Joe Biden to supporters, October 19, 2008

Well, North Korea is taking him up on it:

North Korea defied international condemnation of its latest nuclear test by firing three short-range missiles off its coast on Tuesday and major powers considered tougher action against the isolated communist state.

With tension in the region high, South Korea said it would join a U.S.-led initiative to intercept ships suspected of carrying weapons of mass destruction, something Pyongyang has warned it would consider a declaration of war.

South Korea’s Yonhap news agency quoted a government source in Seoul as saying the North had test-fired one surface-to-air and one surface-to-ship missile off its east coast. The missiles had a range of about 130 km (80 miles).

Yonhap later reported that Pyongyang had fired a third short-range rocket on Tuesday.

This is in addition to the three short range missiles the NORKS fired on Monday. And the rockets they fired before Obama’s nuke speech in Prague, in April.

I wouldn’t say they were testing Obama, as much as they’re taunting him.

Pyongyang said the United States was the aggressor, its usual justification for making nuclear arms. “Our army and people are fully ready for battle … against any reckless U.S. attempt for a preemptive attack,” said its KCNA news agency.

I half expect Obama to apologize to dear leader for the United States’ aggressiveness.

AP Reports:

North Korea has restarted a weapons-grade nuclear power plant, news reports said Wednesday, and South Korea confirmed the regime fired off its fifth short-range missile amid a deepening standoff with world powers following its latest nuclear test.

Breibart:

North Korea’s military says it considers South Korea’s participation in a U.S.-led program to intercept ships suspected of spreading weapons of mass destruction tantamount to a declaration of war against the North.

The communist North’s military said in a statement Wednesday that it will respond with “immediate, strong military measures” if the South actually stops and searches any North Korean ships under the Proliferation Security Initiative.

I see Michelle Malkin is thinking along the same lines as I:

The time for O’s mettle test is here: North Korea prepares for war

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air:

So what should Obama do?  The Left keeps harrumphing that the “neocons” either have no solution or want Obama to start Korean War II, but that’s not the only two options available.  Going to the UN has proven to be a waste of time, and golfing very obviously did not cow Kim into submission, either.  Obama set the wrong tone when he pulled back the missile-defense radar during Kim’s first missile launch.  Obama may have thought he was sending Kim a message of friendship by taking Kim at his word that he was launching a satellite with his ICBM that went directly over Japan, but Kim took a much different measure of that message, as well as Obama’s mettle.  By acting as though Kim’s increasingly aggressive behavior couldn’t deflect Obama from his golf game, he gave Kim the impression that the US no longer cares what he does, as long as it doesn’t involve the US.

Kim’s now taking that carte blanche to the brink of war with South Korea.  Not even Bill Clinton fumbled North Korea this badly (and to be fair, Jimmy Carter cut Clinton at the knees while Clinton was trying to handle it properly).

The Washington Times on what action can be taken:

American policymakers would be wise to remember U.N. Security Council Resolution 1718, passed a week after the 2006 nuclear test. The resolution strongly condemned the North Korean nuclear test and imposed extraordinary financial sanctions. It called on North Korea to abandon its nuclear programs and authorized member states, including the United States, to intercept ships bound for North Korea to inspect them for nuclear components.

The United States also can take action under the 2006 North Korea Nonproliferation Act, which authorizes punishing foreigners trading in nuclear and missile technology with North Korea.

So far, the United States and other countries have failed to press North Korea to the limit of these U.N. measures, preferring diplomacy over action. This has only served as a means for North Korea to pursue its nuclear ambitions while the West mouths empty words.

Ominous: Billionaires Meet In NYC To Discuss Overpopulation

soros

Don’t these people have anything better to do? :

SOME of America’s leading billionaires have met secretly to consider how their wealth could be used to slow the growth of the world’s population and speed up improvements in health and education.

The philanthropists who attended a summit convened on the initiative of Bill Gates, the Microsoft co-founder, discussed joining forces to overcome political and religious obstacles to change.

Described as the Good Club by one insider it included David Rockefeller Jr, the patriarch of America’s wealthiest dynasty, Warren Buffett and George Soros, the financiers, Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York, and the media moguls Ted Turner and Oprah Winfrey.

The interest in eugenics population control by these esteemed members of  “The Good Club” should surprise no one. Most of them have extensive backgrounds in the area:

David Rockefeller Jr:

Eugenic ideals also attracted the attention of the ‘Rockefellers’ who in the late 1930’s , funded the Kaiser Willem Institute in Germany. The Rockefeller foundation, following the embarrassing consequences of post war American occupation in Japan approved of the Eugenic protection act- legalising abortion in that country. The in 1952 in company with Frederick Osborn [ex-president of the American Eugenics Society] John D. Rockefeller founded the Population Council.

Two principal goals of the Population Council have, over many years, remained unchanged.

  1. to convince government leaders in poor nations that they have a serious population problem.

  2. Solving this problem can be achieved through (Council aided and approved) population control.

Rockefeller funds have amongst other causes provided for the Kinsey Report 3 which launched the sexual revolution. Their funds have aided in the development of the contraceptive pill, the IUD and more recently rights to the RU 486 patent and its (Chinese) manufacture. Rockefeller funds have also supported the growth of Feminist activism, promoting in particular Betty Friedan and her 1963– “Feminine Mystique”.

Warren Buffet:

Since 1981, the Buffett name has been linked to ‘family health’ programs, disbursing some $197 million in charitable donations. However, in 2003 the Berkshire Hathaway Board 3 made a decision to cease donating (undoubtedly embarrassed by the projects sponsored) Notwithstanding, in May 2006 William Buffett pledged the bulk of his $44 billion fortune (~$31b) in support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Which foundation seems to exhibit priorities essentially consistent with furthering the ideals of world population control.

William Buffett’s name has been associated with some of the most radical aspects of the population control. In 1994, $2 million was given to the Population Council, to fund US. clinical trials of Mifepristone (RU-486) initiated by Joseph Pike’s Danco Co. Other grants in this US. RU 486 project were provided by George Soros’ Open Society and David and Lucille Packard Foundation.4

Buffett provided a further $2 million to Family Health International [FHI] for the distribution of quinacrine hydrochloride, the chemical used to sterilizes a woman by burning her fallopian tubes. Although Quinacrine is illegal in the U.S., it has been used, often coercively, in Vietnam, India, and other nations. During the late 1990’s another grant of $20 million was made to International Projects Assistance Services (IPAS) which manufactures and distributes manual vacuum aspirators [MVA’s], used for performing abortions in the Third World.

MVA’s were first invented by Dr. Malcolm Potts; First Medical Director of IPPF (1968-80 )

& Harvey Karman.5

Other Buffett linked funds have provided support to Family Health International (FHI) for evaluation of quinacrine sterilisation and for the manufacture of ‘manual vacuum aspirators’ for third world distribution by International Projects Assistance Services(IPAS)

Other population control agencies enjoying Buffett largesse have been Planned Parenthood both National (US) and International, The Centre for Reproductive Law and Policy and Catholics for a Free Choice.

In effect, the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation continues as the quiet force in the controversial area of population control.

George Soros:

George Soros (himself a father of 5) through his Open Society Inst.6 has funded the US Nationwide Mifepristone Affiliate Readiness Project backing media advertising and training programmes for medical (chemical) abortion training; with a pledge of $600,000

The Soros foundation provided the funds needed to pioneer the Abortion Rights Mobilisation RU 486 clinical trials in the US. With additional funds from John Merck Foundation 15 medical centres were provided with RU 486 for ‘evaluation’ by 3000 women.

Ellen Chesler author of ‘Women of Valour– Margaret Sanger and the IPP’ has directed Soros’ backed Program for Reproductive Health & Rights; assisting in the allotment of National (US) Network of Abortion Funds.

Soros’ Open Society Inst. is quite openly political in its aim– “to protect laws governing reproductive health care, especially abortions… to support public opinion research….to combat anti choice activities in support of a campaign to gain widespread awareness and acceptance of emergency contraception.

Soros’ foundation has provided the not for profit vehicle for the Council on Foreign Relations7,8. to filter tax money in support of population control programs.

Ted Turner:

[Humanist of the Year 1996] Philanthropic Funder of the UN Foundation and outspoken Media mogul.
“The population problem and the environmental destruction that is going on in the world will eventually lead to our demise if it is not reversed…”
Then later at the National [US] Family Planning and Reproductive Association’s meeting in 1999 commented… “ The dangerous proliferation of people could be stopped…. If couples would promise to have no more than two children.”
“over-population is the single most important issue facing mankind today.”
“People who abhor the China one child policy are dumb dumbs..”

Ted Turner is moreover highly critical of Christianity calling it an eco-unfriendly religion.
He, as father of five, from multiple marriages, has been bold enough to suggest that the 10 commandments need to be reviewed and replaced, particularly Numbers 7..(he should know!)
Then speaking at a Pro-abortion meeting in Washington….
“If you are going to have 10 rules, I don’t know if banning adultery should be one of them.”

Bill Gates:

The Gates Foundation is a patron for a wide range of world wide ‘reproductive-health’ programmes, funding research to improve birth control. Planned Parenthood, for instance has received $34 million from the Gates Foundation out of a total of $10.5 billion worldwide.

Notwithstanding, on 5 Nov. 1999 Trevor Neilson, spokesman for the Gates foundation, assured his audience that while the ‘Foundation’ maintains concern for overpopulation and ‘family health problems’ it holds to – “ as a policy the Gates Foundation doesn’t fund abortion services of any kind.” Jaquelline Fuller (another foundation spokesperson) has also commented that while the foundation has provided in excess of $10.5 billion the funds were earmarked for Planned parenthood programs other than the provision of abortion.

Former President-Gloria Feldt- of Planned Parenthood has affirmed that the giving from the ‘Foundation’ is not used for abortion services. Yet Planned Parenthood itself is clearly one of the world’s largest providers of abortion services.

The recent augmentation of the Gate’s Foundation with a legacy of over $30 billion from William Buffett elevates the Gates Foundation to a pinnacle position as the world’s largest private funding agency.

Historically the Foundation has committed significant funds in 1998 to AVSC (Association for Voluntary Surgical Contraception– sterilization);.internationally a major player in global and domestic population control.

A guest at the confab said:

…there was “nothing as crude as a vote” but a consensus emerged that they would back a strategy in which population growth would be tackled as a potentially disastrous environmental, social and industrial threat.

“This is something so nightmarish that everyone in this group agreed it needs big-brain answers,” said the guest. “They need to be independent of government agencies, which are unable to head off the disaster we all see looming.”

Why was the meeting held in secret?

“They wanted to speak rich to rich without worrying anything they said would end up in the newspapers, painting them as an alternative world government,” he said.

It’s not like all their money and power could ever be conflated as such:

Bill Gates, Ted Turner, George Soros, Warren Buffett and David Packard have all given away much of their money to international family planning programs aimed at curbing population growth. Together they have access to personal assets exceeding the combined gross domestic product of over 48 of the least-developed nations in the world. Their funds however, are directed essentially for population control and environmental issues.

Many thanks to the website Population Control, which is a font of knowledge on population control issues.
