Drew M at AoSHQ provides some commentary.
Hot Air catches a gaffe from Obama in the opening remarks from his national security speech:
When you’re distracted by the business of governing 57 states, gaffes are bound to happen:
Doggone you TOTUS!
Update via Michelle Malkin on Twitter:
Love how UPI cleans up Obama’s Gates gaffe for him. Presto change-o!
I was under the impression that the media was provided with those transcripts…
See Allahpundit for commentary on the rest of Obama’s speech: Obama: We must never compromise our cherished values, unless it’s really important
UPDATE:
Robert Gibbs in the daily press briefing says he doesn’t understand Dick Cheney’s motivations.
Of course nobody had asked him about that:
I think I know Dick Cheney’s motivation, though. He’s sick of seeing the Bush administration hammered every day for the very policies that have kept us safe for seven years, and he’s speaking out because he loves his country and doesn’t want to see it run to the ground by Obama’s naive and reckless policies.
Something like that.

What Obama needs is a tiny teleprompter for his notes. And a brain.

Cheney looks and sounds great – a measured, reasoned response from a serious, responsible spokesperson. If Gibbs is wondering as to Cheney’s motivation, he need look no further than the President he serves under. Vice President Cheney is not allowing the current President to misrepresent the record. If he wants to release secret memos, he has to put them in their proper context. If President Obama was not willfully attempting to misrepresent the past, Mr. Cheney would be silent.
Cheney’s a man among boys in the GOP. He is willing to state the conservative position without apology, without equivocation, and without looking over his shoulder to see whether or not he is being applauded for them.
And he has no dog in the fight. I wish we had more like him.

His daughter, Liz, has been doing a brilliant job, as well. He can be very proud of her.

Damn straight. She’s smart, well prepared and extremely well grounded. And what’s she out there for? Two peas in a pod. I’m proud of her myself. Who wouldn’t be?
