Chrysler Dealership In New York Not Going Down Without A Fight

This article from May 14 includes Scotia Motors as one of 28 Chrysler franchises closing across New York State.

Portfolio.com reports:

A hearing on the downsizing plans is scheduled for June 3. A bankruptcy court judge must approve the company’s plans before they will take effect.

“It is critical that the domestic dealer network be reconfigured quickly to create a dealer network that improves the profitability of the best dealers in the best locations,” Chrysler officials said in a statement filed with the court.

Chrysler has a fight on its hands, according to Jonathan Harvey, an Albany attorney and former president of the National Association of Dealer Counsel.

“We have been discussing these issues for a couple of months in anticipation of the Chrysler filing of Chapter 11,” Harvey said. “One of the issues has been whether the manufacturer has the right to unilaterally terminate dealership agreements within the context of a Chapter 11.”

Here is a letter from a Dodge dealer from Melbourne, Florida (in part):

…On Thursday, May 14, 2009 I was notified that my Dodge franchise, that we purchased, will be taken away from my family on June 9, 2009 without compensation and given to another dealer at no cost to them. My new vehicle inventory consists of 125 vehicles with a financed balance of 3 million dollars.  This inventory becomes impossible to sell with no factory incentives beyond June 9, 2009. Without the Dodge franchise we can no longer sell a new Dodge as “new,” nor will we be able to do any warranty service work. Additionally, my Dodge parts inventory, (approximately $300,000.) is virtually worthless without the ability to perform warranty service.  There is no offer from Chrysler to buy back the vehicles or parts inventory.

Our facility was recently totally renovated at Chrysler’s insistence, incurring a multi-million dollar debt in the form of a mortgage at Sun Trust Bank.

Notre Dame PWNAGE

I wanted to end the chapter on Obama’s depressing and dishonest appearance at Notre Dame yesterday, but several updates later, I have found that I’m still not through venting, so time for another post.

How dishonest was “President Infanticide’s” speech? Slublog was particularly affronted by this bit of pablum:

In his commencement address, he said the following:

So let us work together to reduce the number of women seeking abortions, let’s reduce unintended pregnancies. Let’s make adoption more available. Let’s provide care and support for women who do carry their children to term. Let’s honor the conscience of those who disagree with abortion, and draft a sensible conscience clause, and make sure that all of our health care policies are grounded not only in sound science, but also in clear ethics, as well as respect for the equality of women.” Those are things we can do.

Senator Barack Obama, answering a questionnaire from a pro-choice group:

Does Sen. Obama support continuing federal funding for crisis pregnancy centers? Why or why not?

No.

He didn’t then…he doesn’t now. See? Lip service. But his audience approved of his pretty words with enthusiastic applause.

They had forgotten…or perhaps they had never known about Obama’s chilling rational for infanticide:

Maybe they hadn’t heard of Obama’s 2004 fund raising letter opposing the “so called” partial birth abortion ban.

Not everybody was in the dark, though: Some photo reflections at Jill Stanek’s blog.

Did anyone hear about the mass peaceful protest that occurred at Notre Dame? The MSM only focused on the trespassing protesters. A caller into the Rush Limbaugh Show had this to report:

Hey I wanted to call in and talk to you about Notre Dame a little bit.  My wife and my three daughters were there yesterday, and they were at the student protest called ND Response.  And what’s really shocking is how it’s not being covered at all in the media.  You had about 4,000 students at the South Quad, and 4,000 people. There were faculty members there. There was a whole slew of speakers. They had a Holy Cross priest, actually an African-American priest who is a Notre Dame grad who went to Notre Dame obviously.  There was ex-football player Chris Godfrey who spoke, a lot of great speakers.  They actually had the different faculty members that were there supporting what they were doing get up on stage and be recognized. There were about 30 faculty members that stood up.  And when we went to read about this on the news last night and how it was reported, there was just no coverage of it.  And I kind of compare it to what happened with the tea parties and how the press just really ignored it because it was going to be anti-Obama press and they just didn’t need to cover it.  They were covering the real outspoken pro-life demonstrators out at the gates of Notre Dame and the people getting arrested and things, but they didn’t cover this peaceful protest that was on campus organized by the students and had an actual turnout.

In one of the most repulsive troll droppings I’ve  come across on the web, Slublog commenter, “Tom” left this:

LoL, it’s hillarious how angry conservatives are about his visit to Notre Dame.

It’s not surprising. After all, the students shouted down the pro-life thugs who tried to ruin their graduation ceremony and cheered when they were led away by the police. All conservatives did was embarass themselves on national television and help to guarantee, once again, that the next emerging generation will thoroughly despise them.

Get over it, losers. The students loved Obama and DESPISED thugs like you.

Honey,  conservatives are not the ones who are getting “PWNED”, here.

We are actually winning the debate.

And now that all the pageantry and fanfare has ended…who else comes out the loser? Whose very identity is at stake, here?

Well…Notre Dame University is already becoming known as a “formerly Catholic” institution.

And  alumni donors had promised to withhold over $8.2 million at last count, if ND actually honored the pro abortion President. That is probably a conservative estimate.

I hope this travesty was worth it for them.

I wasn’t going to be that cynical, but I fear they’re right. Shame on Notre Dame for being such willing pwns.

Obama Receives His Honorary Degree At Notre Dame Commencement

I’m sure Obama’s entire speech will be available for viewing on YouTube in short order. For those of you who did not watch, TOTUS was in fine form. Brace yourselves for the forthcoming lovefest. This speech will be heralded by most in the MSM as the abortion equivalent to Obama’s much ballyhooed, and profoundly overrated  “Race Speech”.

As with the race speech, which never answered the question of how he was able to sit in the pews and listen to the poisonous sermons of  fire-breathing Pastor, Jeremiah Wright for all those years, this speech doesn’t address his own profoundly pro abortion views and actions which he’s acted upon his whole political career…right up to his first days in office.

Instead he gives lip service to seeking “common ground”…as if there’s common ground to be found between people who believe in the sanctity of human life at all stages of development, and someone who has opposed allowing infants born as a result of botched abortions to receive medical care from doctors and nurses.

This command was not issued to be spiteful; it was issued because the U.S. Catholic Bishops understood the necessity of the command if the moral authority of the Church is to be preserved. Notre Dame’s leadership either didn’t understand this or didn’t care.

Outside, among the protesters arrested was Norma McCorvey – “Roe” in the Roe v Wade case in the US Supreme Court in 1973 which introduced the permissive abortion law in America which she now deplores.
