Yesterday, Keefy predicted a trainwreck on the Today Show with the Sarah Palin and Matt Lauer interview, which aired this morning. Well, there was no trainwreck but there was a victim: David Letterman, who received an intense tongue lashing from Palin.
Gateway Pundit thinks the ‘Cuda attack was devastating, and has video.
Hot Air also has the video. Captain Ed thinks that all of the Palin attacks hurt her more than her attackers because it takes her off message and diminishes her. I think he makes a good point. But I think the attacks need to be answered, too.
And I also think that David Letterman has been diminished, as well; profoundly so. Don Surber has more to say about that:
I think David Letterman should realize that this thing is not going away.
Nor should it.
That non-apology apology of his may have amused his mama when he broke the cookie jar in Indianapolis. But he is 62 and real men apologize when they inadvertently ridicule a 14-year-old girl.
His excuse is an eye-roller: He meant her older sister, all of 18, getting knocked up. Oh that explains everything.
His bungling of this incident comes from thinking he is savvy, she is just a hick, and everyone in America hates her.
But when the National Organization for Women dumps on a liberal, he has problems.
Big time.
Letterman is entering Don Imus territory. Broadcast careers can end suddenly.
I agree, when hell froze over, and NOW came out to defend her, it became obvious that he had so seriously crossed a line that even some libs (who are the arbiters of these things, ya know) can’t defend him. You can’t tell me that this little episode hasn’t damaged his credibility and reputation, not so much with his loyal fans, (like the buffoons in his audience)who think the jokes are uproariously funny, but the rest of us, who just want to be entertained without being treated to insulting, abusive humor.

Meh. I’ll believe it when I see it. Imus was hammered relentlessly by the liberal media and all the usual race baiters until MSNBC among others tossed him under the bus despite his repeated and in my mind, way over the top apologies.
Even when Shuster said that the Clinton campaign was guilty of “pimping out Chelsea”, a grown woman, all he got was a forced apology and two weeks vacation followed by getting his own show.
Letterman hasn’t apologized, he’s just made a joke of his joke and most liberals are saying “Aw Dave that was a little naughty (snicker snicker), what else you got?”
The rules are just different for liberals. They can say whatever they want and there are no reprecussions beyond a little tut tutting and finger wagging because they are frauds. They don’t believe what they say, they just say things to gain power.

Yeah, I think most LIBS may have that attitude, but there are lots of other folks who may have been so turned off by this that they won’t be tuning back in.

‘Cuda: 1 Wimpy, limpy old liberal: 0

Why is it always Sarah’s fault? The libs claim she has brought all this upon herself and family by being involved in politics. Our side blows a gasket when she answer THEIR ATTACKS upon her and her family,by saying she’s off message or she is an embarrassment. Why don’t we hold the the left wing media responsible? They are to blame, not Sarah Palin.
This one thing I know,Sarah Palin has a backbone and a spine. When the going gets tough, she will not back down.I can’t say that for many of our Republican leaders in Washington.

I think good does come out of this. I think the liberal over the top attacks on Palin have now lost their steam. It is obvious the jokes were not funny, therefore mean-spirited. It will be harder to get out future mean-spirited attacks without being alienated even more viewers.
This is most definitely a win for Sarah.
Meanwhile where is the apology to ARod. He was accused of rape in this little “joke”.

If you want to know what ugly AND stupid look like, read the extremely negative comments decrying Governor Palin’s anger about being the butt of terrible “jokes”.
We’re gonna need a bigger boat.

Did you hear that Michelle Obama fantasizes on “date” night about having sex with the most powerful man on earth? Yes, George Soros

Sarah Palin fighting back will absolutely not hurt her. She was on a mission to raise funds for charity. Numbskull Letterman, that earns millions a year and thinks he’s the king of comedy, for once – picked on the wrong person to target with his demeaning sexism. Actually, had he made those comments even 50 years ago he’d be enjoying the pleasure of checking himself out of a hospital.
It’s up to the potential viewers to make it clear to the network and Letterman’s sponsors he went over the line and it’s time for him to go. That is what will vindicate Sarah Palin. No one should have the threat of their child being the target of assault, victim of a serial rapist, or face humiliation because of what a washed-out comedian considers funny.

The “off message,” concern is very real, it allows people to minimize everything else. The majority of that interview was politically astute, and well delivered on a complicated issue (the pipeline) with some stuff about the alaskan economy but the only thing being talked about is either how “she just can’t let this go” even though it’s lauer who can’t let it go, and she simply responded, or “she’s trying to play the victim,” even though she most definitely isn’t trying to play the victim.
Doesn’t matter, the gate keepers of general information of the moment completely overlook the fact that she was able to stand tall on her abilities as a governor, so that they can continue to dwell in the salacious crap they love to smear all over anyone that is a valid spokesperson for idea’s they disagree with.
in general I think it’s a wash. Anyone with any respect for comedy or differing opinions already gave up on letterman at least by 2002, when dave had a huff over bush making a ham handed attempt at humor, and dave got offended cause it insinuated something about daves heart attack. Meanwhile Letterman had no problem with making heart attack jokes about dick cheney, so eff dave, he’s scum, and this hoosier disowned him years ago.
As for Palin, her very real accomplishment in the negotiation of the pipeline, and the ability to not destroy the economy of Alaska (which might actually be able to prosper because of oil receipts) are gonna be ignored in favor of this, while still giving us something to remember about her.
I still like. .I forget who’s idea it was “maybe send todd to help dave with a new skit ‘will it heal.” That is just funny.
Sorry, Dave disgusts me.

I keep hearing – mostly from the left – that Letterman is a “comedian”, and his comments were intended to be a “joke.”
The only joke here is Letterman himself. If he is a comedian he has yet to prove it to me.
If I had a 14 year old daughter and a slimeball like Letterman made a “joke” about her on national TV … he’d have a lot more to contend with than a tongue-lashing by my wife, guaranteed.

It was treacher who came up with the skit joke. I should have known.

I am still hoping that A.Rod punches him in the nose on his own show. It could happen, and would be the youtube hit of the decade. (cue the drums)

Sarah Palin is genuine; and not part of the beltway tribe or liberal media bubble. The vicious uncontrolled reaction to her just being there, and the gratuitous attacks on her daughter display the dark heart of liberalism and its hypocrasy.
This is what Justice Thomas went through. This is what George Bush went through only worse. This is the response of the liberal media and political elites to someone who does not bow to them. They are so small minded and threatened that they turn vicious.
We need to take names and realize these people are not worthy of our time or attention or subscriptions or votes. They, who would condone attacking a 14 year old girl to get back are her mother are beyond contempt.
Remember who they are and shun them.

No one outside the libtards in the media respects any woman who will not protect her children. Mamma Grizzly did just fine. Matt Lauer doesn’t know what hit him.
