Moammar Kadafi Praises Obama, Says U.S. Should Make Him President For Life

Well, here’s another uh…interesting character witness for Obama…Moammar Kadafi, fresh from his hero’s welcome for the  Lockerbie bomber, had gushing words of praise for our President:

Kadafi, clad in a long, coffee-colored robe, gave a long, rambling address that was mainly critical and touched on everything from jet-lag — something he blamed on having to travel to New York — to the invasion of Iraq, which he called “the mother of all evils.” He blasted the U.N. Security Council as an elitist organization that favors superpowers over small nations and said no country should have veto power over resolutions.

But Kadafi’s comments took a sharp turn about midway through his address. Prefacing his words by saying they were a bit “sensitive,” he confessed to being thrilled that Americans had elected a black man as their leader.

“We Africans are happy, proud that a son of Africa governs the United States of America,” said Kadafi, whose relations with the United States have generally been sour. Even his visit to New York for this event has been fraught with controversy as his plans to stay in a lavish tent erected in a New Jersey suburb were quashed after local protests.

He then planned to stay in a tent on a property owned by Donald Trump north of Manhattan, in the town of Bedford, but the Associated Press reported today that town officials were threatening criminal action if the tent stayed there.

Kadafi alluded to the difficulties of moving around a city under air-tight security measures but said Obama, at least, offered hope for the next eight years. After that, he said, “I’m afraid we may go back to square one. We are content and happy if Obama can stay forever as the president of the United States.”

Well, doesn’t that just make you swell with pride?

MORE:

Fidel Castro, today, also came out with lavish praise for Obama’s climate change speech.

The former Cuban leader on Wednesday called the American president’s speech at the United Nations “brave” and said no other American head of state would have had the courage to make similar remarks.

Not surprisingly, Castro, America’s arch enemy for 50 years, was impressed and pleased with Obama’s criticism of the U.S.

That admission of America’s past errors “was without a doubt a brave gesture,” Castro wrote in comments published by Cuban state-media Wednesday.

“It would only be fair to recognize that no other United States president would have had the courage to say what he said,” the former Cuban leader continued.

Aw shucks…Isn’t that special? Who could have ever guessed that by pandering to tyrants and dictators you could win their flattery. Not compliments to our country as a whole, mind you. Compliments to Obama, Himself.

We, as a country, of course, still suck.

More Thug Politics: Obama Administration Investigates Humana’s Free Speech

obamacrats

Photoshop courtesy of  Darlene’s Place

Mark Hyman of the American Spectator noted on 2/18/09:

How soon and how far the Obama Administration will extend its attacks against its critics and the political opposition may become evident in the days ahead. Spared any serious scrutiny by most news outlets during his very brief career in public office, Barack Obama has displayed an exceptionally thin skin when he has come under a microscope or when he has suffered political and public relations setbacks.

This brewing HHS/Humana controversy was reported by Ed Morrissey at Hot Air, 9/21:

The Los Angeles Times reports this afternoon that the Department of Health and Human Services has begun an investigation into actions taken by health insurer Humana.  Did they commit claims fraud with Medicare, or unfairly refuse to provide services?   No — they had the temerity to commit the heinous act of free speech with their customers:

The government is investigating a major insurance company for allegedly trying to scare seniors with a mailer warning they could lose important benefits under health care legislation in Congress.

The Health and Human Services Department launched its investigation of Humana after getting a complaint from Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., a senior lawmaker usually viewed as a reliable ally of the insurance industry.

What did Humana tell its customers that is so odious to the ObamaCare proponents?

The truth:

Humana told customers that the proposed changes would result in reduced benefits for its members on their Medicare Advantage plans, and the White House accused them of spreading faslehoods. Of course, the CBO now says exactly what Humana argued all along, but even absent that, the Obama administration has no business investigating the exercise of free speech.

Senator Mitch McConnell fought back on the Senate floor:

It should surprise no one that the Obama administration would use these tactics to silence critics. This is how Obama fights.

Remember when the Obama campaign wrote to the Department of Justice demanding a criminal investigation of the “American Issues Project,” the group that produced a (true) Obama/Ayers ad?

Remember when the Obama campaign sent cease and desist letters to news outlets in Pennsylvania and Ohio because of a (true)  NRA ad?

Remember the Missouri “Truth Squad”?

Remember when The White House threatened Chrysler’s Non-Tarp Investment Companies?

Remember when The White House encouraged citizens to inform on one another?

Threatening U.S. citizens is just par for the course for Obama. Sadly, it’s become the accepted way of doing things for Democrat leaders  in Washington, too. Remember this from last June:

Top aides to Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) called a last-minute, pre-emptive strike on Wednesday with a group of prominent Democratic lobbyists, warning them to advise their clients not to attend a meeting with Senate Republicans set for Thursday.
Russell Sullivan, the top staffer on Finance, and Jon Selib, Baucus’ chief of staff, met with a bloc of more than 20 contract lobbyists, including several former Baucus aides.
“They said, ‘Republicans are having this meeting and you need to let all of your clients know if they have someone there, that will be viewed as a hostile act,’” said a Democratic lobbyist who attended the meeting.

“Going to the Republican meeting will say, ‘I’m interested in working with Republicans to stop health care reform,’” the lobbyist added.

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting sick of this crap.

This is of course in addition to Lloyd’s rather disturbing perspective on the First Amendment.

“It should be clear by now that my focus here is not freedom of speech or the press. This freedom is all too often an exaggeration. At the very least, blind references to freedom of speech or the press serve as a distraction from the critical examination of other communications policies.

“[T]he purpose of free speech is warped to protect global corporations and block rules that would promote democratic governance.”

And Lloyd’s rather disturbing perspective on Venezuelan Communist dictator Hugo Chavez’s “incredible…democratic revolution.”

I don’t know how that happened, but it could prove awkward for the President who said just the other day, that he wasn’t following the ACORN scandal at all, and feigned surprise that they receive  loads of federal money..who knew!?

See Redstate for the list of contacts, which include Patrick Gaspard:

Patrick Gaspard was the Executive Vice President for the SEIU until Barack Obama asked Gaspard to become his Presidential Campaign’s National Political Director. Once in the White House, Gaspard became Barack Obama’s Director of the Office of Political Affairs. He is Barack Obama’s Karl Rove, but unlike Rove, eschews the spotlight, which is why so many compare David Axelrod to Rove.

Bertha Lewis has the office, cell phone, home number, and private personal email address of Patrick Gaspard.

It remains to be seen if John Conyers will add Redstate to the probe of ACORN Whistleblowers James O’Keefe, and Hannah Giles.

Apparently:

Media Matters is in full swoon over the “questionable tactics”, “possible theft” of Bertha’s contact list.

Obama On Climate Change: “A Failure To Act Will Lead To Irreversible Catastrophe”

What’s he blathering on about, now?

If you can’t stomach it, feel free to skip ahead to 10:00 min. in to where Obama stops talking, and Megyn Kelly sums up:

“A failure to act will lead to irreversible catastrophe”….hm. When have we heard that before?

02/04/09:

“A failure to act, and act now, will turn crisis into a catastrophe and guarantee a longer recession, a less robust recovery, and a more uncertain future,” he said. “That’s why I feel such a sense of urgency about the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Plan.”

Obama challenging critics of ObamaCare…

08/23/09:

“We know what a failure to act would bring:  More of the same,” Mr. Obama said. “More of the same exploding costs. More of the same diminished coverage. If we fail to act, the crisis will grow.”

Obama, today on climate change:

09/22/09

“A failure to act will lead to irreversible catastrophe”..

Never let a crisis go to waste…even a totally made up, bogus hoax like global warming climate change.

“Unease is no excuse for inaction”?

How about  near unanimous rejection that there’s even a crisis?

bloomberg_poll_092209

Can that be an excuse for inaction?

We should be so lucky.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu says no biscuit for you….what do you know?

“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said. “The American public has to really understand in their core how important this issue is.”

Have Obama and Chu given any thought, (like we have) to other theories about how weather changes?

the sun’s recent activity, or lack thereof, may be linked to the pleasant summer temperatures the midwest has enjoyed this year, said Charlie Perry, a research hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey in Lawrence.

The sun is at a low point of a deep solar minimum in which there are few to no sunspots on its surface.

In July through August, 51 consecutive days passed without a spot, one day short of tying the record of 52 days from the early 1900s.

As of Sept. 15, the current solar minimum ranks third all-time in the amount of spotless days with 717 since 2004. There have been 206 spotless days in 2009, which is 14th all-time. But there are still more than 100 days left in the year, and Perry expects that number to climb.

Perry, who studies sunspots and solar activity in his spare time, received an undergraduate degree in physics at Kansas State University and a Ph.D in physics and astronomy at The University of Kansas. He also has spent time as a meteorologist.

A sunspot, Perry explains, is a location on the sun’s surface that is cooler than the surrounding area. When there are more sunspots, the sun’s surface becomes more dynamic and an opposite effect takes place, releasing more heat and energy when other parts of the sun become hotter.

A solar minimum is when the amount of spots on the sun is at a low and the reverse is true for a solar maximum. The complete solar cycle is about an 11-year process. Perry says the current solar minimum could continue into 2010.

“There’s a fair chance it will be a cooler winter than last year,” Perry said.

Perry said there is a feeling from some in the scientific community the Earth may be entering into a grand minimum, which is an extended period with low numbers of sunspots that creates cooler temperatures. The year without a summer, which was 1816, was during a grand minimum in 1800 to 1830 when Europe became cooler, Perry said. Another grand minimum was in 1903 to 1913.

Perry said there is anecdotal evidence the Earth’s temperature may be slightly decreasing, but local weather patterns are much more affected by the jet stream than solar activity.

However, Perry said snow in Buenos Aires and southern Africa, the best ski season in Australia and a cooler Arctic region are some of the anecdotal evidence for a cooling period.

So, Perry said, sunspots may have a far greater impact on weather than previously thought.

Perry is a proponent of the cosmic ray and clouds theory as opposed to the CO2 global warming theory to explain recent global warming trends.

I guess we should ask: Can this info be used to impose, “Sweeping but Necessary Change”.

If the answer is no, the science is not terribly useful to the Statists, now is it?

The Obama Conundrum: Who Is He… What Is He…

Not only conservatives are asking this question…moderates and liberals are wondering, too. Neo-Neocon has finally figured out something about Obama: nearly everybody’s trying to figure out Obama.

Obama’s obfuscating and lawyerly language, his deliberate vagueness, and his propensity to lie without blinking, coupled with his affable personality and the unprecedented protection afforded by the press, constitute a carefully constructed screen. But his actions are troubling, even to the Left, who continue to make excuses for his ineptitude; and to the middle (take a look at this by Mickey Kaus, for example) who want to think he’s a thoughtful moderate but see little evidence for it any more. The Right (and I include myself here) thinks it knows that Obama is a man of the far Left, but we argue and wonder about just how far he wants to go, and how successful he will be.

One of the reasons Obama has been a relative cipher compared to past presidents is at least partly because each of them had a longer track record in the public eye than Obama did. It is also partly because they were more forthcoming about their pasts (a good example is the release of academic records). But it is also because they were basically upfront about who they were and what they intended, and/or the press was still doing at least some of its homework back then.

Let us discuss Obama’s propensity to lie without blinking. Are at least a significant number of Americans of all political stripes by now noticing that Obama has no compunction about lying if it suits his needs at any given moment?

For instance, is it possible that he is so uninformed about ACORN, that he was not aware that they have been receiving millions of dollars in federal funds for years, and thanks to several bills he’s signed this year, were eligible for billions more? Is it possible that he has not been paying attention to the spectacular implosion of a group he has been so profoundly, and proudly connected to for decades? He said those things without blinking, and many of us who were watching, yelled out at our t.v. screens, “You lie!” when he said them.

These “You lie!” moments happen on an almost daily basis with Obama, which is why so many conservatives applauded Joe Wilson after his rude, but proven to be correct outburst at Obama’s joint session speech. It was about time someone called him out on it.

Yesterday on Fox News, Charles Krauthammer tried to reconcile Obama’s March announcement of his “comprehensive, new” Afghanistan strategy (which Krauthammer  read aloud, because “it’s as if it never happened”) to Obama’s more recent admission that he has no strategy. Last March, Obama cheerfully read words off of a teleprompter. Whether or not what he was saying was true didn’t matter as long as it helped him get through the day.

Neo continues:

A unified field theory of Obama would explain all his moves. I think that the idea that he is a covert far Leftist and statist up to no good does exactly that. But saying that aloud is still unconscionable to most people (not to mention racist!). And the difference between Bill Ayers and Obama is that, although Ayers may not be the most straightforward guy in the universe, he’s honesty itself compared to Obama. The reason for Obama’s stealth is clear, however: a person as far to the Left as Obama could not be elected President of the US while being clear and upfront about his agenda, so dissemblance about the essential self and its goals is required.

A discussion ensues about Obama the man verses Obama the President, and she concludes:

It is still possible to speculate on what drives Obama the Man—as one can do endlessly about most people with character disorders, or con men or sociopaths. But it’s a losing game, and not necessary.

We may never know much about Obama the Man, but I believe we now know enough about Obama the President, despite his efforts to hide: he is a statist of the far Left, who wants to implement a statist Leftist agenda for America both domestically and in foreign affairs, and he will do everything he can to achieve these goals.

I recently came upon an interview of Debbie Revor, who once worked for Obama, that sheds some light what “Obama, the man”, Obama, the “community organizer” is like:

Q. What was your impression of Sen. Obama?

A. He wasn’t friendly and was standoffish and arrogant from the start of my job there. My first impression was that I didn’t like him because of this arrogance.

Q. What were his duties with the law firm to the best of your knowledge?

A. Obama was an associate at the firm and had been there about two years. I saw him have meetings with the other attorneys and he helped with hearings and did prep work for trials. Obama probably did other things too, but I wasn’t his personal secretary. These are the things I observed him do or heard his secretary talk about.

Q. You told me the law firm you worked for dealt with civil rights. So would it be safe to say Obama was a champion for the downtrodden and less fortunate? What were your personal impressions of Obama? Did he seem like helping the poor was his primary agenda?

A. I didn’t feel at the time Obama cared about the downtrodden and less fortunate and I still don’t feel that way. I didn’t see any proof of that at all during the 11 months I worked there. I don’t have any knowledge of Obama helping in the community in any way. We as legal secretaries weren’t paid very much there and he could’ve started helping with that – speaking up about the low pay we had. I didn’t see that he cared about our state in life. I also saw him act in ways that were very self-serving, self-focused and ambitious.

Read the entire interview. It is very revealing.

The always succinct Pamela Geller asks, stupid or evil?

Stupid or evil. Most folks, even critics, say that Obama is hopelessly naive. I have heard John Bolton (no Obama supporter) say it more than once. Nonsense. You don’t consistently choose the side of evil by accident. It is no accident that Obama consistently defers to evil. It cannot be. It cannot be an accident, a coincidence that Obama consistently sides with evil.

In his short yet consequential tenure as President, he has unwaveringly taken the side of wrong, of malevolence — the haters of liberty and individual rights. He stands against long time friends and allies of America — Israel, the people of Iran, Honduras, Poland, Czech Republic. He runs interference for the most evil despots on the face of the earth — Ahmadinejad (isran), Chavez (Venezuela), ex-KGB Putin (Russia), Islamist Erdogan (Turkey), Castro (Cuba).

Obama wants us to slash our nuclear arsenal (the superiority that has kept us safe for decades). Mind you, this is fresh on the heels of the Muhammadan-led International Atomic Energy Agency admitting that Iran can make a nuclear bomb.

Armaros opined, “Not only does he want to disarm the US, but also the UK and France.
The French have already given him the finger. Oh La La (those racist radical neocon French) will not submit to the Obaummah. Thank God, at least they are still refusing to surrender to demon cult calling itself a religion.

Europe will be pleading for the likes of George W. in no short order.

It’s going to get much worse; we have yet to see the full horror of O’s foreign policy.

Gird your loins.

Editor’s note: Sorry if this post ended abruptly, I had to rush off to a dental appt.

More on this theme from David Limbaugh, who says, Americans Have Caught on to Undeterred Obama.

Obama obviously hedged his bets and campaigned as an optimistic reformer, sending clear signals to the far left that he was one of them and, like any good radical, seduced significant numbers of others with center-right language, from praising the free market to pledging his undying loyalty to America’s national defenses.

Unfortunately for Obama, he allowed his extraordinarily high opinion of himself, exacerbated by sycophantic handlers and a fawning press, to delude himself into believing he could unload his destructive socialist agenda on America at hyper-speed without losing the people’s faith and trust  a major miscalculation.

Paradoxically, then, we are unintended beneficiaries of this man’s unparalleled arrogance, without which he might have been shrewder about dismantling America’s institutions brick by brick.

People have caught on to Obama now. They’re informed and engaged. They see the abject absurdity of his claiming on “Face the Nation” that the federal budget can’t sustain our inflationary healthcare costs at the same time he is deliberately expanding our federal deficits and national debt into the multitrillion-dollar stratosphere. They see through his indignant denials to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, who deserves kudos, that his proposed penalty on those refusing to buy health insurance is a tax.

They see his narcissism in rejecting any political dissent from his ambitious agenda as unreasonable, rude, uncivil, and bickering while dubbing himself the exemplar of civility and calling the rest of us liars. They see his hypocrisy and megalomania in threatening to “call out” anyone who misrepresents his plan, which means anyone who has the temerity to challenge him on his myriad deceptions. Niccolo Machiavelli would be proud.

Justice Dept. Inspector General To Look Into ACORN Funding

obamacorn

Jake Tapper is reporting:

Glenn Fine, the Inspector General of the Department of Justice today wrote to the Chairman and Ranking Republican of the House Judiciary Committee – Reps. John Conyers, D-Mich., and Lamar Smith, R-Texas — informing them that his office is planning on opening a review into whether ACORN applied for or received any Justice Department grants or funds and whether or not the Justice Department ever carried out any audits or reviews of those funds.

You can read the letter HERE.

In a statement, Smith said that the IG’s report “will help Congress ensure that money allocated to support law enforcement efforts is not instead used to support criminal conduct. It is clear that ACORN has fostered a culture of corruption. With investigations of ACORN now occurring in 20 states, it is time for the FBI to open up a full scale investigation into possible criminal conduct by ACORN.”

I don’t get it…Why all the fuss about something that is “not an important issue facing the country”?

Zelaya Claims To Be In Honduras (UPDATE: He’s There)

Supporters of ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya celebrate his return to the county in front of the United Nations offices on Monday.

Strange…those red flags don’t look like Honduran flags, do they?

The latest hi-jinks from Chavez and Zelaya:

“He traveled for two days, through rivers and mountains and risking his life,” Mr. Chavez said.

Initial news reports placed Mr. Zelaya and his wife in a U.N. building in Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital, although Mr. Zelaya later confirmed reports he was at the Brazilian embassy.

“I’m here in the Honduran capital,” Mr. Zelaya told Telesur. “I’m here to initiate dialogue,” he added. Television images showed hundreds of Zelaya supporters gathering in front of a U.N. building in Tegucigalpa to celebrate his return, while riot police tried to control the crowd.

Roberto Micheletti, acting Honduran president, meanwhile, denied that Mr. Zelaya had returned to the capital.

If he’s actually there, and Honduran authorities find him, he may wind up “initiating dialogue” from jail.

Well, I hope he’s comfortable. He may be hanging out there for awhile.

MORE:

Congressman Mike Pence condemned the Obama administration’s Honduras policy in this statement issued, today:

Since the dawn of the American experiment, the American cause has been freedom and in that cause America has never been silent.

In light of our proud national tradition of supporting the spread of freedom, rule of law and democratic institutions around the world, I am disappointed that the President and his Secretary of State have devoted so much effort to undermining democracy in Honduras.  The President should be supporting the legitimate authorities in Honduras as they work to preserve self-determination in their country rather than aligning himself with virulently anti-American foreign leaders like Hugo Chavez, the Castro brothers and Daniel Ortega.

Not only has the U.S. State Department announced that it will not recognize the upcoming elections in Honduras over the objections of the four leading presidential candidates, but it revoked the visas of Honduran government officials who were invited by Members of Congress to come and brief them on the ongoing situation in Honduras.

These policies do not measure up to the best traditions of our democracy and send precisely the wrong message to those who are fighting for freedom in Honduras and around the world.

I urge the Secretary of State to reverse this harmful course of action, drop the insistence on restoring Zelaya to power despite his unconstitutional efforts to seek a second term, restore the visas of Honduran government officials, and support those officials working for free and fair elections in Honduras.

All the while, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – who heads a government that is among the world’s most odious human rights abusers – is being welcomed to the city to spread his message of hope and change.

White House Orchestrated NEA Propaganda Campaign For Obama

Big Government has released the full audio and transcript from the NEA conference call, Big Hollywood blogger, Patrick Courrielche wrote about last month.

Front and center of these latest revelations is Buffy (the Walmart slayer) Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement.

Buffy-Wick1

Among other things, the audios will reveal Buffy saying:

  • “I just first of all want to thank everyone for being on the call and just a deep deep appreciation for all the work you all put into the campaign for the 2+ years we all worked together.”
  • “We won.”
  • “I’m actually in the White House and working towards furthering this agenda, this very aggressive agenda.”
  • “We’re going to come at you with some specific asks here.”
  • “I hope you guys are ready.”
  • Front #42 pp. 1-6
