Bill O’Reilly To MN Gov. Pawlenty: Take Another Look At ACORN’s 43,000 Votes For Al Franken

It’s no secret that Bill O’Reilly despises Al Franken.

Now, he’s formally asking Governor Pawlenty to look into the possibility of voter fraud in the election of Franken, ( which he won by 312 votes in a recount). Given the recent exposes of ACORN’s corruption, and the fact that they registered 43,000 votes in Minnesota, he thinks another look is warranted:

They’re hoping to get an answer by Monday.

Read the post, Cara. Sorry, but completely unconvinced. If you’ve really never worked at a place where people worked more than they wasted time, then you should get out a bit more before trying to make an objective assessment of ACORN. Every place I ever worked, people put in 20 – 25% overtime for free, because that was the prevailing ethic. And they worked their fannies off while they were there.

They gave you a job and you feel like you’re helping people. That’s great for you, but it changes nothing about the problems throughout the organization. Other people work for social organizations that don’t have these problems. You might follow their lead.

geoff it is not the norm for people put in 20 – 25% overtime for free. Why would you want to do that anyway? People should be paid for their work and should have a life outside of work. :] Not only that, but under that duress I feel you can’t do the best at your job, you need a balance. I do not hope that life on anyone.

I do love my job yes. I am blessed that way. This, you are correct, changes nothing about the problems throughout the organization. This is what we are trying to fix now. It has been ongoing over the last few months, due to the work of an amazing woman, Bertha Lewis. Great changes take time. There are companies and organizations all over the world with problems and problem(ed) employees. If we closed them all down instead of trying to improve, not a lot would be left. :] And yes there are other social organizations that don’t have these problems and ones that do, so is life.

geoff it is not the norm for people put in 20 – 25% overtime for free.

It is for salaried employees in the aerospace and defense industries. And many other industries as well, such as software & hardware development. Almost any small business owner can tell you that they’d be happy to keep their extra time down to 25%. Please don’t try to measure the norms in business by your own tiny life experience.

Why would you want to do that anyway?

Professional pride? Gratitude for being employed? Competitive instinct? Hunger for a bonus? In the case of defense work: patriotic spirit? For small business owners: survival, ambition, and a desire to keep their employees employed? I have seen all of these – they are quite common.

Not only that, but under that duress I feel you can’t do the best at your job, you need a balance.

Stamina and discipline, baby. Get some. People have worked for far more than 40 hrs/wk for millenia and done quite well. You do what you have to to make your way in this world – you can’t tell the world “Sorry, I need some balance so I’m going home.” You don’t have the right to employment on your terms.

due to the work of an amazing woman, Bertha Lewis.

So far Bertha Lewis has been lying to my face about her organization, and attacking the messengers instead of the problems. I’ll admit that the entirety of my impression of her is based on her media appearances over the past several weeks, but based on what I’ve seen there, I’m convinced that she’s part of the problem, not part of the solution.

There are companies and organizations all over the world with problems and problem(ed) employees.

But those who take tax dollars and those who are deeply involved in voter registration always receive special scrutiny. As they should. Especially when they are as obviously partisan as ACORN is.
