Project Valour-IT Day One

cassie fiano

As the Project Valour IT fund-raiser kicks off, the Marine Corps team aims to feature a Marine (fallen heroes, active duty or retired) every day. The Marine of the Day for Monday, October 26, is someone close to team member Cassie Fiano’s heart.  It’s her boyfriend Matt:

MY Marine Corps hero!

For the Project Valour-IT competition, the Marine Corps team is doing all kind of fun stuff. We’re going to have trivia and games, and we’ll also be spotlighting Marine heroes throughout the competition. To get the ball rolling, Cassandra asked me to kick things off by interviewing my Marine, my boyfriend Matt. I’m ridiculously proud of him, of course, and brag about him whenever I can as it is. And as if I don’t yak about him enough on here already, I get to feature even more fun stuff about him now, too.

In all seriousness, Matt truly is a hero to me, just like the thousands of other Marines out there. I can say without any bias that he loves what he does, he loves the Corps, and he loves his country. He’s willing to fight and die for America and for all of us. I may be his girlfriend and I’m certainly biased, but it’s still a pretty incredible thing.

So, with all that said, check out me and Matt’s “interview”, and there are a few pictures of him at the end as well. (Sorry they’re all with me, too, but I don’t have many pictures of Matt in uniform that doesn’t have me in them, too.)

Read Cassie’s interview of her soldier, here.

Tea Party Express Kick-Off Rallies In CA A Huge Success – To Keith Olbermann’s Dismay

A few  days ago, the always douchetastic Keith Olbermann scoffed at the Tea Party Express, crowing that only192 people had RSVP’d on Facebook for one of their rallies.

What he had failed to mention, was that they had only put up the page a few hours before the report.

As expected, thousands of fed up Americans showed up, today at the Tea Party Express kick off rally in San Diego,  as it started it’s second tour across the country.

tpesd

Wow – folks this is incredible. To those in the media or on the political Left who keep insisting the tea party movement is dead, or its astroturf, etc… well the people of San Diego have turned out and spoken a message loud and clear: WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK!

Here’s a quick video someone took on their blackberry:

A thousand more people rallied in Los Angeles:

TPXII-LosAngeles1

Conservative Republican Assemblyman Chuck DeVore spoke spoke at the rally.

He is running against Sen. Barbara Boxer (Liberal-Democrat) and is one of the “good guys.” The GOP establishment is trying to woo Carly Fiorina (former HP executive) to run. But she represents more of the same – politicians who believe in power and ‘going along to getting along.’ We’re so excited to see Chuck DeVore passionately articulating a strong, conservative message – and the crowds love him!

The route this time around.

See the Tea Party Express website for schedule.

Why are they going on a second tour, already? Tea Party Express organizers, Lloyd Marcus and Mark Williams appeared  on Fox this morning to explain:

Make sure you show your support if it comes your way.

Let’s make Keith Olbermann cry.

UPDATE:

Another tea party broke out in O’Fallon, MO, this weekend. Blogging machine, Bob McCarty has all the details.

Project Valour-IT Marine Team Members Needed

BUMPED – PROJECT VALOUR-IT STARTS TOMORROW, OCTOBER 26.

Who does America call when something absolutely, positively must be destroyed overnight?

US-Marine-Rat.jpg
U.S. Marine Rat

That’s right… America’s 911 Force: the Few. The Loud. The Marine team!

We’re still looking for a few good blogs to help us raise money for Project Valour IT. The competition starts Monday, October 26th and though the Marines are the smallest service, we’re planning to chew through the competition. But to do that, we need your help.

Project Valour IT provides laptops with voice activated software to wounded soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen at Walter Reed and Bethesda. Typically these young men and women spend up to two years recovering and undergoing physical therapy. Their courage, determination, and unfailing esprit de corps are truly inspiring. Most of us, facing the loss of our eyesight, an arm or a leg and repeated surgeries would just crumble up into a ball. Not these guys. They’re warriors:

He knows they’re going to stare. They always stare.

As soon as Pat Murray steps in the elevator, they’ll notice his prosthetic leg and maybe accurately surmise that, yes, he is an Iraq war veteran, and, yes, he got blown up. Then the sadness will sink in, the pity, and they’ll give him that look, which he can sense even if he doesn’t see, and it will be an uncomfortable few floors up.

So as Murray approaches the elevator and the woman thrusts her hand between the closing doors for him, he says, “Careful, you can lose a limb that way.”

“Oooh,” the woman says, noticing Murray’s metal leg. She’s obviously shocked, unsure of what to say or how to act. Murray flashes a smile, lets loose an “it’s okay” chuckle, and suddenly the ride up isn’t nearly so awkward after all.

It’s that type of humor — spontaneous (he once asked his doctor when his leg would grow back), cunning (he tells children who ask about his “robot” leg that he didn’t eat his vegetables) and, at times, gruesome (there are stump jokes that can’t be printed here) — that helped him come to terms with the fact that his right leg is no more.

It was at Walter Reed Army Medical Center that Murray, who was a corporal in the Marine Corps, not only learned to walk again, but to laugh. Although doctors and therapists can patch up the physical wounds of war, it is often the humor — soldier to soldier, Marine to Marine, patient to patient — that in the space of a punch line can heal as well as the best medicine.

It’s not unusual for these young men and women to take up bungee jumping, skydiving, or participate in marathons or other extreme sports even after losing a limb. But that long period where they’re confined to their hospital beds can be the worst of all. Project Valour IT provides them with a way to escape the confines of their rooms and keep in touch with buddies, friends and family members. For many wounded vets, it’s a tangible reminder that they’re still part of the world outside Bethesda or Walter Reed: that there is life after being wounded.

Valour IT is one of my favorite military charities. I’ve supported it every year and led the Marine Team to raise over $51,000 in 2006. My co-captain Carrie and I are planning two weeks of fun, jokes, Marine history, culture, heroes and more. Carrie’s son is headed over to Afghanistan and my husband is already over there, so we both have good reason to support the great work Valour IT is doing.

Valour IT is a cause you can support with confidence that your donation will be well spent. Every dollar raised goes directly to wounded vets at the following military medical centers as well as VA treatment centers nationwide:

* Balboa Naval Hospital

* Brooke Army Medical Center

* Madigan Regional Medical Center

* National Naval Medical Center (Bethesda Naval Hospital)

* Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton

* Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital (29 Palms)

* Walter Reed Army Medical Center

So now you have the mission. What we need now is a strong team. Please sign up for the Marine team, and tell all your friends. You can join here and see the great blogs who’ve already proudly donned the title, “Marine team”.

But most of all, remember — we’re planning to have fun. Because although they’re all business, no one rocks the house like the United States Marine Corps:

Flight 93 Memorial Blogburst #67

Construction drawings released: Flight 93 crescent now points less than 3° from Mecca

From Error Theory:

The original Crescent of Embrace memorial to Flight 93 faced less than 2° from Mecca. That made it a mihrab, the Mecca-direction indicator around which every mosque is built. (Some mihrabs are pointed-arch shaped, but the classic mihrab is crescent shaped.)

The Park Service dismissed concern about the Mecca-oriented crescent on grounds that the construction drawings had not yet been finalized. “Those trees could move fifty feet, or three hundred feet,” said Project Manager Jeff Reinbold in the Spring of 2006, as if this kind of “tweaking” would make any difference (Crescent of Betrayal Ch.8 p.145-6).

The construction drawings have now been released, and yes, they moved the lower tip of the half-mile wide crescent about 300 feet, enough to change the orientation of the crescent by about 4.5°. Instead of pointing less than 2° north of Mecca, the giant Islamic-shaped crescent now points less than 3° south of Mecca.

Here is the original Crescent of Embrace:

“Qibla” is the direction to Mecca, which you can verify using any online Mecca-direction calculator (just type in Somerset PA). A person standing between the tips of the giant crescent and facing into the center of the crescent (red arrow) would be facing 1.8° north of Mecca, ± 0.1°.

Here is one of the new construction drawings:

Instead of facing a titch north of Mecca, the giant crescent now faces a titch south of Mecca (2.7° south ± 0.1°).

As with the original Crescent design, the upper crescent tip is the end of the 50’ tall Entry Portal Wall and the lower crescent tip is the last of the 50’ tall Maple trees on the bottom. The landscape overlays make the details hard to see in the thumbnail image above, but at full resolution they are fully legible. (Copy of source PDF, without the superimposed orientations lines here. Large file warning. Graphic is on p. 30 of 233.)

The Park Service was SUPPOSED to remove the Islamic symbol shapes

When architect Paul Murdoch’s winning Crescent of Embrace design was announced in September 2005, it appeared to show a bare naked Islamic crescent and star-flag planted atop the crash site:

Burned by the resulting firestorm of protest, the Park Service to agreed to get rid of the Islamic symbol shapes, but they never did. They added an extra arc of trees, and they call it a broken circle now, but the unbroken part of the circle, what symbolically remains standing in the wake of 9/11, is still a giant Islamic shaped crescent.

This is explained on the Park Service’s own website, where the extra arc of trees is explicitly described as a broken off part of the circle:

In summary, the memorial is shaped in a circular fashion, and the circle is symbolically “broken” or missing trees in two places, depicting the flight path of the plane, and the crash site.

Those two breaks are the two ends of the extra arc of trees:

The extra arc of trees extends from blue circle to blue circle, marking the two “breaks” in the circle referred to in the Park Service’s official explanation of the broken-circle design. One is where the flight path breaks the circle (left), the other is near the crash site (center).

What is symbolically left standing (the unbroken part of the circle) is just this:

Remove the symbolically broken off parts, and you get the original Crescent of Embrace design.

The only change is that the crescent has now been rotated clockwise a few degrees. In the construction plans it faces slightly south of Mecca instead of slightly north of Mecca. For a parallel, imagine airline security discovering a terror bomber, then playing with the fit his suicide vest before escorting him to his plane.

They said they were going to remove the giant crescent. They claim they HAVE removed it, but they haven’t. Symbolically, the design remains completely unchanged. The terrorists are still depicted as smashing our peaceful circle and turning it into a giant Islamic-shaped crescent, still pointing to Mecca.

The giant crescent is actually a mihrab

Here is the mihrab at the Great Mosque in Cordoba Spain. Face into the crescent to face Mecca, just like the crescent memorial to Flight 93:

Confronted with evidence that the Crescent of Embrace is actually designed to be the world’s largest mosque, the Park Service sought advice from a pair of Muslim scholars. Both acknowledged the almost exact Mecca-orientation of the giant crescent and both offered overtly dishonest excuses for it. One said not to worry about the likeness to an Islamic mihrab because no one has ever seen a mihrab this BIG before:

…most mihrabs are small, rarely larger than the figure of a man, although some of the more ornamental ones can be larger, but nothing as large at the crescent found in the site design. It is unlikely that most Muslims would walk into the area of the circle/crescent and see a mihrab because it is well beyond their limit of experience.

Right. That’s why everybody scratches their head at Mt. Rushmore. No one has ever seen Abraham Lincoln so BIG before. They just can’t figure it out.

To be fooled by this excuse, you have to really really want to be fooled. The other Muslim scholar said not to worry, the crescent cannot be seen as mihrab unless it points exactly at the Kaaba:

Mihrab orientation is either correct or not. It cannot be off by some degrees.

In fact, a mihrab does NOT have to point exactly at Mecca, for the simple reason that, throughout most of Islamic history, Muslims in far-flung parts of the world had no accurate way to determine the direction to Mecca. As a result, it was established as a matter of religious principle that what matters is intent to face Mecca. This was recently affirmed by Saudi religious authorities, after Meccans realized that even most of their local mosques do not face directly towards the Kaaba. “It does not affect the prayers” assured the Islamic Affairs Ministry.

Faced with evidence of an Islamic plot, why would the Park Service send this evidence exclusively to Muslims for appraisal? Have they forgotten who attacked us on 9/11?

The Service has long since been apprised of the patent dishonesties retailed by its two Muslim advisors but they don’t care. They wanted to be lied to, they knew where to go to be lied to, and they got what they wanted.

Michelle Malkin and Ed Morrissey

So where are the patriotic stalwarts like Michelle Malkin whose objections were instrumental in getting the Park Service to agree to remove the Islamic symbol shapes in the first place? If they knew in 2005 that the symbolic outcome of 9/11 should not be a giant Islamic shaped crescent why are they silent about this exact same symbolism today, after THEY were promised that this perversion would be removed?

Ed Morrissey urged his readers “to tell the National Parks Service and the Secretary of the Interior to rethink their plans,” promising for his own part that “as long as that crescent remains in the design, I’m not donating a red cent to the memorial.” Well Ed, the crescent does remain in the design, so please rejoin the fight.

The desertion of Malkin et. al. makes a difficult gap to fill, but we had better fill it, or the Flight 93 crash-site will soon be home to the world’s largest mosque.

Video: CNN’s Rick Sanchez Excuses Obama By Sliming Roosevelt And Lincoln

In the wake of near universal criticism of Obama’s draconian handling of Fox News,  Rick Sanchez valiantly came to his defense yesterday, by assuring us, that this sort of thing – (targeting, demonizing, isolating, and attempting to destroy a news organization) isn’t a rare, or even notable thing at all, (if you know your history, he smugly assures us):

Well, believe it or not, Paul Cooper of Newsreel knows his history, and felt obliged to correct the record:

Sanchez’s comparison to Nixon proves a pretty good one.  Nixon did have an enemies list that included people in the press that he wanted to bring down.  Many have rightfully made that comparison to the Obama administration’s direct attack on Fox News that we’ve heard so much about lately.  However, Sanchez doesn’t want to leave Obama in that light so he adds two Presidents that are often listed in a top 3 or 5 of greatest American Presidents.  That’s the real company he wants Obama in.  However, this is when Sanchez decides to play around with history.

Did FDR actually make a New York Times journalist wear a dunce cap at multiple press briefings because he hated him and wanted to humiliate him?  Nope.  Sanchez’s reference is about a famous one time moment with NYT journalist Robert Post.  According to the book The Writing 69th, Post and Roosevelt became good friends while Post covered the White House from 1936-1937.  During one press conference Post pressed Roosevelt about running for a third term.  Roosevelt joked to avoid the question.  Post continued to press harder, so Roosevelt told Post,

“Bob, go put on the dunce cap and stand in the corner.”

The press saw it as a symbol of how Roosevelt liked to duck hard questions.

That was it.  FDR did not hate Post.  He never made him wear a dunce cap once – let alone at multiple briefings.  He simply gave a snide remark to avoid a question he didn’t like.  In fact, when Roosevelt did win a third term, Post sent a joking reply back:

“Who’s the dunce now?”

On to Lincoln:

On May 18, 1864 Abraham Lincoln issued an executive order to arrest some of the journalists and editors of two New York publications that printed and published what they knew to be a forged Presidential proclamation calling for 400,000 more troops and a new draft.  It was an act of treason to raise up resistance to the Union during a time of war.  The act warranted imprisonment.

Again, Lincoln’s situation and Obama’s attack of Fox News should not be mentioned together.  The two situations don’t even vaguely have any points of comparison.

To use history and the legacy of Roosevelt and Lincoln in this way is journalistic fraud.  And Sanchez does it to help excuse Obama for his poor behavior.

I can think of a news organization that tried to use a forged document in order to bring down a President, but it wasn’t Fox News.

How much longer can CNN keep airing this embarrassing clown?

Democrats Vote To Give ACORN Regulatory Authority Over Financial Institutions

SAY WHAT????

Wha, wha, wha, WHAAAAAAAT?!

acorn_logo1

This comes straight from the Republican Committee on Financial Services:

During consideration of H.R. 3126, legislation to establish a Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA), Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee voted to pass an amendment offered by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) that will make ACORN eligible to play a role in setting regulations for financial institutions.

The Waters amendment adds to the CFPA Oversight Board 5 representatives from the fields of “consumer protection, fair lending and civil rights, representatives of depository institutions that primarily serve underserved communities, or representatives of communities that have been significantly impacted by higher-priced mortgages” to join Federal banking regulators in advising the Director on the consistency of proposed regulations, and strategies and policies that the Director should undertake to enforce its rules.

By making representatives of ACORN and other consumer activist organizations eligible to serve on the Oversight Board, the amendment creates a potentially enormous government sanctioned conflict of interest.  ACORN-type organizations will have an advisory role on regulating the very financial institutions from which they receive millions of dollars annually in direct corporate contributions and benefit from other financial partnerships and arrangements.  These are the same organizations that pressured banks to make subprime mortgage loans and thus bear a major responsibility for the collapse of the housing market.

In light of recent evidence linking ACORN to possible criminal activity, Democrats took an unprecedented step today to give ACORN a potential role alongside bank regulators in overseeing financial institutions.  This is contrary to recent actions taken by the Senate and House to block federal funds to ACORN.

A recent inquiry into bank funding of ACORN activities by three House Committees found that institutions that would be regulated by the CFPA have provided millions of dollars to the organization in the form of direct donations, lines of credit, cash, and other assets over the last 15 years.

The amendment passed on a vote to 35-33. Click here to view the vote.

We’ve got crazy people running the country. And crazy people running these financial institutions if they’re still donating millions of dollars to ACORN, a  demonstrably corrupt organization.

Check out Big Government for all the latest examples of ACORN corruption:

When will this insanity stop?

Trick Or Treat: Government To Resume Funding ACORN Halloween Night

UPDATE

Ed Morrissey parses the amendment’s words:

Parsing this carefully, it does not appear that Democrats on the HFSC explicitly included ACORN on this panel.  Instead, the Waters amendment leaves spots open for representatives from organizations like ACORN, and probably does nothing to exclude ACORN representatives for consideration on these slots.  The headline and lead on this release seem to be somewhat misleading in stating that Waters explicitly added ACORN as a regulator.

With all due respect to Captain Ed….duh. Just as in the stimulus bill, and other bills, ACORN isn’t mentioned specifically, but who does he think:

representatives from the fields of “consumer protection, fair lending and civil rights, representatives of depository institutions that primarily serve underserved communities, or representatives of communities that have been significantly impacted by higher-priced mortgages”

applies to? Any number of community organizations, ACORN, being the largest, most prominent, and corrupt, among them, and unless they’re specifically shut out, they find a way to get in on the action. That’s why Democrats have always voted against Republican amendments in prior bills to exclude ACORN.

Obama’s College Thesis From Columbia Surfaces (Update-Satire)

Time Reporter Joe Klein  was only allowed to see ten pages of the thesis, but you only need to see one paragraph to know why Obama wanted to keep his college papers under lock and key.

Barack Hussein Obama is an enemy to the United States constitution:

“… the Constitution allows for many things, but what it does not allow is the most revealing. The so-called Founders did not allow for economic freedom. While political freedom is supposedly a cornerstone of the document, the distribution of wealth is not even mentioned. While many believed that the new Constitution gave them liberty, it instead fitted them with the shackles of hypocrisy.”

Obama’s Columbia years were from 1981-1983. Twenty years later, he still held essentially the same point of view, which we only know thanks to Pam Keys at Naked Emperor News. Although the scathing disrespect for our country’s founders, and the constitution didn’t come through in this audio from an Obama 2001 radio interview, he did label the Constitution as a “charter of negative liberties”, which he saw as a problem:

Michael Ledeen wonders where the media is:

Maybe instead of fuming about words that Rush Limbaugh never uttered, the paladins of the free press might ask the president about words that he did write.  Maybe he’d like to parse “the so-called Founders,” for example.  I’d like to know what he thinks of those words today.  And what about the rest of the thesis?

Good point, especially in light of another college thesis that was recently dug up, and jumped on by media “watch dogs”…..in time to actually do damage to his campaign, (imagine that):

In the Virginia Governor’s race, Republican candidate Robert McDonnell wrote a graduate thesis twenty years ago that could be politically damaging to his campaign. That decades old thesis has been covered by the Washington Post on August 30and again on September 1. It has been reported on in some depth across the spectrum of media outlets from NPR to US News to the CS Monitor to FOX and on and on!

Some folks may have been fitted “with the shackles of hypocrisy”, alright, but I wouldn’t go blaming the Constitution for it.
UPDATE:

I heard Rush talking about this earlier, which is why I checked out the Michael Ledeen Column. I missed Rush reporting later on in his show:
RUSH: I’m also told that the blog containing the passage on Obama’s thesis is a satire blog. So it’s one of these sites like ScrappleFace or The Onion or some such thing. So I shout from the mountaintops: “It was satire!”  But we know he thinks it.  Good comedy, to be comedy, must contain an element of truth, and we know how he feels about distribution of wealth.  He’s mad at the courts for not going far enough on it. So we stand by the fabricated quote because we know Obama thinks it anyway.  That’s how it works in the media today.
Is Jumping in Pools a satire site?
Rush is right, in order for satire to be work, it has to have an element of truth. Key word- element. It’s not supposed to sound exactly like the truth.
Oh well, Rush and Ledeen were punked, too…I guess I’m in good company.

How Does Obama Like Being Compared To Nixon?

TrickyobamaIII

Here’s a sampling of comments made by political pundits in recent days:

Charles Krauthammer:

Factions should compete, but also recognize the legitimacy of other factions and, indeed, their necessity for a vigorous self-regulating democracy. Seeking to deliberately undermine, delegitimize, and destroy is not Madisonian. It is Nixonian.

Jennifer Rubin:

It’s a cringe-inducing moment, both for those who oppose the White House on policy grounds and those who cheer its every move. As surely as Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton allowed their personal flaws to erode the office of the presidency, Obama seems bent on allowing his own flaws (thin-skinnedness, hubris) to do potentially grave damage to the office as well. And over what? Not some grand policy matter or some key personnel matter, but over the desire to exclude a news network that has criticized him. For those who suggested that Obama’s main selling point was his “superior temperament,” we anxiously await an admission of grave error. It seems they were terribly mistaken.

Cassandra, Villainous Company:

First the comparisons were to The Great Emancipator and his team of rivals. Then it was The Great Communicator. I think JFK references were liberally sprinkled about for a short time, too.

But less than a year into his first term, Obama’s become … the Second Coming of Richard Millhouse Nixon??? Normally I’d say The Won had hit rock bottom. Could there possibly be anyone more heinous in the eyes of the media?

Vickie McClure Davidson, Frugal Cafe:

Is Barack Obama channeling his “inner Nixon” these days?

Pres. Richard Nixon was notorious for trying to play favorites and exclude those people in the press whom he considered “enemies.” He even created a lengthy, paranoid “Enemies List” that included Joe Namath, John Lennon, and The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The term “Nixonian” is no compliment by any stretch.

Senators Lamar Alexander and Judd Gregg:

Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., took to the Senate floor to urge President Obama and his aides to dial back their attacks on White House critics. Alexander, who later was joined by Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., cited a litany of instances where he said Obama was inappropriately targeting groups — from the Chamber of Commerce to Fox News — just as President Nixon did four decades ago.

“I have an uneasy feeling only 10 months into this new administration that we’re beginning to see the symptoms of this same kind of animus developing in the Obama administration,” Alexander said.

Gregg also expressed concerns and suggested Obama was “Nixifying” the White House.

MinnPost:

“The White House has basically said that they don’t believe in the marketplace of ideas, they’re not willing to engage in debate, and they are going to be associated with John Adams and the Sedition Act and Richard Nixon and his ‘enemies’ list – is that the company they want to be in?” says Mike Farrell, director of the First Amendment Center at the University of Kentucky.

iReport:

Is President Obama doing the same thing with Fox News, as President Nixon did with the Washington Post?  hmmmm look what happened to President Nixon.

Anderson Cooper, CNN:

(As reported by Newsbusters):

How do you know that the White House’s anti-Fox News campaign has gone seriously wrong? When CNN, let alone Anderson Cooper, begins to compare the Obama and Nixon administrations (video embedded below the fold, h/t Mediaite’s Colby Hall).

On last night’s “360,” Cooper stated that “this White House is starting to look like another White House and the comparison is not flattering.”

Karl Rove:

Former Bush White House adviser Karl Rove has compared President Barack Obama to former President Richard Nixon, saying the Obama administration’s feud with Fox News is proof the White House is creating a Nixonian “enemies list” that “demeans” the office of the president.

How do you think Obama likes being compared to Nixon…and not only by people on the right?  Do you think he’s losing any sleep over it?

This is just amazing. I thought that after having most respectable news organizations condemn the Obama administration’s recent attempts to delegitimize Fox News, some even calling it “Nixonian”, team Obama might back off a little bit.

But I was wrong:

My first impulse is to praise the White House Press Pool for standing with Fox on this. It’s no small thing for a country to have a free press, and we still do.  Thank God for that.

But as Allahpundit noted:

The other networks deserve the praise they’re getting for standing up to the Baby-in-Chief, but if they had acquiesced in this freezeout, a precedent would have been set that would have been eagerly used by future Republican presidents to close them off too. And don’t think they weren’t all keenly aware of it.

Drew M. at AoSHQ had this to say:

It’s amazing we are in the position we are. We have a President who is more interested in talking to murders around the world but is affraid to face a reporter who isn’t enthralled with the crease of his pants.

Wonderful.

Dan Riehl is  taken aback:

This weak administration is now certifiably insane. For the first time in my life I’m actually uncomfortable knowing that this guy has control of our military and Federal police forces. If he thinks he can simply shut down a member of the press on a whim, how long before he goes full Chavez?

(It’s not just me then…thinking along those lines).

Other media outlets rallied around Fox News so it didn’t play. And I would certainly hope the editorial pages around the country mirror that sentiment this weekend, though I’m not sure we can even trust them. Still, no matter what, I can’t see this playing with the American people at all. This guy’s approval ratings are already terrible. Don’t be surprised if they go down the tubes after this outrageous conduct.

Cassandra says, “The bloom is off the rose”….

You may want to check out her “Descent of Obama” photoshop, too.

William A. Jacobson, of Legal Insurrection, says the Obama administration has been acting like a schoolyard bully.

Yep, the kind of bully that picks on one particular kid out of  malevolent  jealousy, and tries to convince all the other kids not to play with him.

Doug Ross:

Perhaps the White House will next try to pull Fox News’ press pass.

That would be entirely consistent with the Hugo Chavez-style of government that President Axelrod and his advisers are trying to install.

I’m patiently waiting for the ACLU to stand up for freedom of the press and complain to President Obama about quashing Fox’s First Amendment rights.

Video: Congressman Mike Pence Defends Conservative Media

Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence defended conservative media on the floor of the House, in the wake of  the White House’s continued assault against Fox News and conservative media:

“So to my friends in the so-called mainstream media, I say, conservative talk show hosts may not speak for everybody but they speak for more Americans than you do.”

Video: Obama “Not Losing Sleep” Over Fox News

Uh huh:

After Obama pretended that the question was a distraction from more important issues, the NBC  interviewer reminded him that it was his advisers (Emanuel and Axelrod, and Maoist, Anita Dunn) who raised the issues.

His incoherent answer:

“I think what our advisers have said is that we are going to take the media as it comes, and if media is operating, basically as a talk radio format, then, that’s one thing, and if it is operating as a news outlet, then that’s another, but It’s not something that I’m losing a lot of sleep over.”

It’s embarrassingly absurd that he would continue to conflate Fox News’ opinion shows with their straight news, as if they’re any different in that regard from  other networks. As he well knows, the difference between Fox News, and MSNBC’s opinion programming is that Fox News slants to the right, and MSNBC is far left.

If you want to see Obama’s “lie face”, freeze frame at the 1:17 mark, and watch his eyes narrow, and eyebrows go up, as he says, “It’s nothing I lose sleep over”.

Uhhhh-huh.

Glenn Beck  doesn’t get under his skin at all.

Video: Dick Cheney Rips Obama On Foreign Policy

Former Vice President, Dick Cheney delivered this barn-burner last night, after accepting the  Keeper of the Flame Award at The Center for Security Policy in Washington, DC.  He was introduced by Senator Jon Kyl and former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

Text of speech, here.

Ouch. Consider that just a little constructive criticism from Uncle Dick.

Will the Obama administration heed the criticism and make amends, or attack the messenger and continue on their path of dithering destruction?

(That was a rhetorical question).
