Confirmed: NYC Show Trial Will Be Platform For Terrorist Propaganda

Like we’ve been saying…

The five men facing trial in the Sept. 11 attacks will plead not guilty so that they can air their criticisms of U.S. foreign policy, the lawyer for one of the defendants said Sunday.

Scott Fenstermaker, the lawyer for accused terrorist Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, said the men would not deny their role in the 2001 attacks but “would explain what happened and why they did it.”

The U.S. Justice Department announced earlier this month that Ali and four other men accused of murdering nearly 3,000 people in the deadliest terrorist attack in the U.S. will face a civilian federal trial just blocks from the site of the destroyed World Trade Center.

Ali, also known as Ammar al-Baluchi, is a nephew of professed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
Mohammed, Ali and the others will explain “their assessment of American foreign policy,” Fenstermaker said. “Their assessment is negative,” he said.

Has the White House really thought this through? Isn’t there a danger that the terrorists’ “assessment of American foreign policy” will correspond with what liberal Dems, most notably Obama,  said during the Bush years? That’s one way of looking at it.

Scientist’s Story From 1995 Corroborates With Hacked CRU Emails

Noted global warming skeptic, Dr. Timothy Ball must feel somewhat vindicated by the exposure of these hacked CRU emails. After years of being ridiculed and called a “denier” by this “peer group” of climate scientists driving the global warming hysteria, his worst suspicions have been discovered.

Global Warming is often called a hoax. I disagree because a hoax has a humorous intent to puncture pomposity. In science, such as with the Piltdown Man hoax, it was done to expose those with fervent but blind belief. The argument that global warming is due to humans, known as the anthropogenic global warming theory (AGW) is a deliberate fraud. I can now make that statement without fear of contradiction because of a remarkable hacking of files that provided not just a smoking gun, but an entire battery of machine guns.

Climate science hijacked and corrupted by this small group of scientists

Dominant names involved are ones I have followed throughout my career including, Phil Jones, Benjamin Santer, Michael Mann, Kevin Trenberth, Jonathan Overpeck, Ken Briffa and Tom Wigley. I have watched climate science hijacked and corrupted by this small group of scientists. This small, elite, community was named by Professor Wegman in his report to the National Academy of Science (NAS).

Jones claims the files were obtained illegally as if that absolves the content. It doesn’t and it is enough to destroy all their careers. Jones gave a foretaste of his behavior in 2005. Warwick Hughes asked for the data and method he used for his claim of a 0.6°C temperature rise since the end of the nineteenth century. Jones responded, “We have 25 years or so invested in the work. Why should I make the data available to you when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it?” He has stonewalled ever since. The main reason was because it was used as a key argument in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Reports to convince the world humans caused rapid warming in the 20th century. The emails obtained are a frightening record of arrogance, and deception far beyond his 2005 effort.

I had heard that story. But this is new to me:

Another glimpse into what the files and emails reveal was the report by Professor Deming. He wrote, “ With publication of an article in Science (in 1995) I gained sufficient credibility in the community of scientists working on climate change. They thought I was one of them someone who would pervert science in the service of social and political causes. So one of them let his guard down. A major person working in the area of climate change and global warming sent me an astonishing email that said. “We must get rid of the Medieval Warm Period.” The person in question was Jonathan Overpeck and his even more revealing emails are part of those exposed by the hacker. It is now very clear that Deming’s charge was precise. They have perverted science in the service of social and political causes.

Read the whole thing.

Here are some of Dr. Ball’s quotable quotes, via Wikipedia:

  • “Believe it or not, Global Warming is not due to human contribution of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). This in fact is the greatest deception in the history of science. We are wasting time, energy and trillions of dollars while creating unnecessary fear and consternation over an issue with no scientific justification.”[7]
  • “The entire Kyoto issue is based on the theory of carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas…There are 2 major problems. First, [it] is not the most important greenhouse gas. Second, evidence now shows that temperatures rise before carbon dioxide increases – not the other way round.” [8]
  • Water vapor is effectively ignored in the computer models. Yes, that’s right. The climate models used as the basis for the entire global warming argument do not include the effect of clouds.”[8]
  • “Since 1940 and from 1940 until 1980, even the surface record shows cooling. The argument is that there has been warming since then but, in fact, almost all of that is due to what is called the “urban heat island” effect – that is, that the weather stations are around the edge of cities and the cities expanded out and distorted the record.”[9]
  • “The plain fact is there was never any evidence of CFCs affecting the ozone layer.”[10]
  • ” Scientists put CFCs in a chamber in a lab with ozone and assumed because the chlorine part of the CFC was destroying ozone this would happen in the ozone layer. Of course what they didn’t tell you was that the ozone was varying to different degrees at different levels in the ozone layer which extends over several kilometers. There is a self correcting mechanism because as the ultraviolet penetrates further into the atmosphere it contacts more O2 and therefore more O is produced and more O3.”[10]
  • “…The majority of the scientists who are on the Kyoto and global warming bandwagon know nothing about the science…The other problem is that so many of the scientists who are quoted as being on side with global warming are actually doing studies on the impact of global warming and climate changes and their studies then are listed as evidence for support of it. They are not, they are just starting with the assumption that global warming is going to occur, and what effect that would have. That is not support or proof at all.”[9]
  • “I can tolerate being called a sceptic because all scientists should be sceptics, but then they started calling us deniers, with all the connotations of the Holocaust. That is an obscenity. It has got really nasty and personal.”[11]

The latest at Watt’s Up With That?:

CRU Emails “may” be open to interpretation, but commented code by the programmer tells the real story

Laura Ingraham had Patrick Michaels, (who was a  target of derision in the emails) on her show to talk about the “conspiracy among climate scientists to conceal inconvenient scientific truths about global warming”. Audio here.

Michaels recently said this about the emails:

“This is not a smoking gun; this is a mushroom cloud,” said Patrick Michaels, a climatologist who has long faulted evidence pointing to human-driven warming and is criticized in the documents.

How About Not?

Oh my gosh…talk about tone-deaf.

Mark Hemingway at The Washington Examiner reports:

Here’s statistical whiz Nate Silver on what Obama needs to do to improve his flagging approval ratings:

To channel my Inner Krugman: it’s a political imperative for the Democrats of the highest order to get some sort of jobs bill to Obama’s desk — the sooner and the bigger the better. Suppose you could create jobs at a price of about $40,000 per, which is higher than the figure suggested by empirical research on highly targeted jobs programs. A $200 billion bill would then create 5 million new jobs, which would reduce unemployment by about 3.3 percent (e.g. from 10.2 percent to 6.9 percent).

As Allahpundit would say: Dude.

Does Nate Silver not know that Obama is now a deficit hawk?

Another brilliant Democrat idea…expanding funemployment  benefits. That’s working out great, too.

Thanks to Eddie.

Desperately Seeking Sarah

Not a photoshop!

The above pic is one out of 3 awesome pics (other 2 at Weasel Zips) showing a battle-weary Andrea Mitchell, clutching the infamous Newsweak cover,  ambushing a smiling and radiant Sarah Palin,  and being carted off by security.

What the heck?! What was Mitchell trying to do? Get her autograph? Were there no teenage girls in line there to bully? Sadly, Weasel offered no further info to go with the pix. Dan Riehl did add some captions, though.

Just found more pictures from the ambush, here.

Dem Senators Commit Seppuku For ObamaCare

Now that Landrieu, Nelson, and now Lincoln have folded, the unpopular Reid bill will  have enough votes  to proceed.  Red State thinks this will be hung around their necks at election time:

For the group of U.S. Senators up in 2010 — the ones facing the independent voters that turned 2:1 against the Democrats in the New Jersey and Virginia elections — they will each be tagged all election cycle with providing the one vote needed for ObamaCare to come before the Senate. They could have stopped it, but they did not.

Next year, just as the public is becoming acquainted with the full horror of what has been done, the Dems who inflicted it upon us will be the subjects of campaign commercials dooming their campaigns.

Obama recently shared his acceptance of being a one term President for inflicting his “wrenching”, economy-crushing agenda on us. It comes at the end of the interview.

Partial text via HotAirPundit:

Ed Henry: “Can you envision a scenario where you don’t run for re-election?”
Obama: “Here’s how I think about it, I said to myself very early on, even when I started running for office, that I don’t want to be make decisions based on getting re-elected because the challenges that face America are so significant…If I feel like I’ve made the very best decision for the American people and 3 years from now I look at it and my poll numbers are in the tank because we have gone through these wrenching changes, politically I’m in a tough spot, I’ll feel alright about myself

I’m sure all those newly unemployed Senators will feel good about themselves, too.

PA SEIU Union Thugs Bully The Boy Scouts

“Honor”, Boy Scouts…really? Where is “honor” mentioned in Saul Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals? What kind of old fashioned value is that – honor? It’s about power boys…the only value that counts, and the SEIU would like to teach you an object lesson in it.

Honestly…it doesn’t get any lower than this…Take it away, Michelle Malkin:

Last week at a city council meeting in Allentown, Pa., a top official of the local Services Employee International Union chapter ranted about 17-year-old Scout Kevin Anderson’s park clean-up work. Anderson devoted some 200 hours to the job in order to earn an Eagle Scout badge. He picked up trash and helped clear a 1,000-foot walking path with fellow members of Boy Scouts Troop 301 of Center Valley.
But SEIU’s Nick Balzano gave them hell instead of thanks.

Balzano disparaged altruistic efforts in city parks and asserted that “there is (sic) to be no volunteers” since his union members were laid off. He then issued a witch hunt threat: “We’ll also be looking into the Cub Scout or Boy Scout who did the trails. We may file another grievance on that.” Citing union rules, he gave the Allentown city council, the Boy Scouts, and all potential volunteers an iron-fisted ultimatum: “None of them can pick up a hoe. They can’t pick up a shovel. They can’t plant a flower. They can’t clear a bicycle path. They can’t do anything. Our people do that.”

ACORN Still In The News..Not Going Down Easy

I’ll be so glad when I can remove my ACORN category permanently. I know the day is coming, but it ain’t here, yet.

First of all, Breitbart is still releasing videos of James and Hannah’s ACORN stings, the latest one from LA is posted at Big Government. It’s a doozy.

Here’s the trio appearing on The Sean Hannity Show on Fox, tonight:

Love this: Breitbart threatened to release the next one right before the  2010 election unless Holder investigates.

Patterico: L.A. Times Columnist Uncritically Quoted Star of Latest ACORN Video

Via Bob McCarty, here is some St. Louis style ACORN news:

Real live communists are involved in politics in St Louis.  They move with ease between ProVote, ACORN, SEIU, Jobs with Justice, and a half dozen other “progressive” organizations who feed the Missouri Democratic Party with workers, volunteers, and money.

If they have nothing to hide, I’m sure we can start seeing information associated with Pecinovsky, Burleigh, and others soon to be named as communists.  Surely they will step forward and say, yes, I’m a communist, and proud! But we won’t because they know that even the Democrats can’t hang out with commies.  There’s a lot more on our buddy Glenn, but there’s another angle to pursue first.

In addition to being the educated white middle-upper class face of ACORN to the local media, Glenn is also a thread we can follow.  Glenn went on a tour with local media in September to defend ACORN.  In those interviews, which include Jake Wagman, Jo Mannies, Charles Jaco, and a blog appearance with ShowMeProgress, Glenn makes a whopper of a statement.  He claims ACORN is funded primarily by member’s dues.  This was his pat response to the defunding of ACORN on a federal level.  He glosses over the loss of ACORN housing (and we’re still waiting to see what happened to that $100,000 Mayor Slay gave them earlier this year), and pretends they are fine.  The problem, he says in an interview with Jo of SMP (also known as hotflash), is that they don’t have enough money to obey the law, so they mix non-profit work with campaign issues.

I asked Burleigh about this charge as well. He said that most non-profits can’t afford to hire separate people for the non-profit aspect of their work and the lobbying or political part of their work. He, for example, reports how many hours a week he spends on the work that’s paid for by charitable contributions and how many on political work. But he gets one pay check.

Hmmm.  Well I’ve figured out where some of that money comes from, and it’s not from member’s.  It’s from you the taxpayer.

Here is Glenn Burleigh, the head organizer for Missouri ACORN in action:

“No justice – no peace!”

Sounds like someone is a little upset about the drying up of funds flowing to ACORN. As you may have heard, they have sued the Federal government for (finally!) excluding ACORN from receiving federal dollars, calling the decision unconstitutional for “punitively targeting one individual organization”. (Gee, what’s wrong with the federal government targeting one individual organization if it is completely unworthy and corrupt?)

Congress’ decision to drop all funding to the group and its affiliates was unconstitutional because it punitively targeted an individual organization.

But the lawsuit says the funding cuts have led to GED classes being canceled midway, foreclosure-prevention programs being stopped in their tracks and home fire-safety assessments being halted. It says local and state governments, as well as most of its private foundation donors, dropped the group’s funding.

Citibank, Chase and Bank of America all cut off mortgage and financing assistance to families at risk for foreclosure who were being served by New York ACORN Housing Company Inc., according to an affidavit. Ismene Speliotis, who heads that group’s operations, said banks have advised the group the cuts are to ensure they are not “affiliated” with ACORN, a label that could possibly make them ineligible for federally funded programs.

New York ACORN Housing Company Inc. and ACORN Institute Inc., a New Orleans-based group that collaborates closely with ACORN and has laid off 17 of its 20 employees since September, are also named as plaintiffs.

Indeed, their financial situation is so dire at the moment, ACORN insiders say they may have to file for bankruptcy protection before Christmas.

Breaking!: Hadley Climate Research Unit Hacked; Hundreds Of Compromising Files Found? UPDATED: Confirmation-Website Was Hacked

First, about  CRU, according to its website:

School of Environmental Sciences
Faculty of Science
University of East Anglia
Norwich NR4 7TJ, UK

The aim of CRU is to improve scientific understanding in:

» past climate history and its impact on humanity
» the course and causes of climate change during the present century
» prospects for the future

(*Corrected-previous info was of the Met Office Hadley Centre)

Watt’s Up With That is reporting that the Hadley Climate Research Unit has been hacked and “many many files have been released by the hacker or person unknown”.

Here’s just one such email:

Dear Ray, Mike and Malcolm,
Once Tim’s got a diagram here we’ll send that either later today or
first thing tomorrow.
I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps
to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from
1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline. Mike’s series got the annual
land and marine values while the other two got April-Sept for NH land
N of 20N. The latter two are real for 1999, while the estimate for 1999
for NH combined is +0.44C wrt 61-90. The Global estimate for 1999 with
data through Oct is +0.35C cf. 0.57 for 1998.
Thanks for the comments, Ray.

The full name of this miscreant can be found at the other websites I linked to.

A lot of discussion of this at Climate Audit.(Server slow).

More at the Essex county Conservative Examiner:

The University of East Anglia’s Hadley Climatic Research Centre appears to have suffered a security breach earlier today, when an unknown hacker apparently downloaded 1079 e-mails and 72 documents of various types and published them to an anonymous FTP server. These files appear to contain highly sensitive information that, if genuine, could prove extremely embarrassing to the authors of the e-mails involved. Those authors include some of the most celebrated names among proponents of the theory of anthropogenic global warming (AGW).

The FTP link first appeared on a blog called The Air Vent. The blog’s owner, identified as “Jeff Id”, downloaded the file, examined it, and posted a brief summary on his blog. Another commenter, identified as “Steven Mosher,” passed the information on to Steven McIntyre’s Climate Audit blog and to another blog, The Blackboard, run by a blogger identified as “Lucia.” Most recently, blogger Anthony Watts, who runs a blog titled “Watts Up With That?” mentioned the FTP archive in his own blog.

Commentary on all the blogs involved has been brisk, except, oddly enough, at The Air Vent, where only seven comments have been received.

The FTP server is in a Russian domain and uses the anonymous FTP protocol, which does not require a pre-registered user account or password for downloading. The file is named, an apparent reference to US Public Law 89-554, 80 Stat. 383, the Freedom of Information Act.

This could turn out to be horribly inconvenient to a lot of people….if true.

Earlier today, Senator James Inhofe, gloating over the collapse of the Copenhagen conference told Barbra Boxer, We won, you lost, get over it:

“I proudly declare 2009 as the ‘Year of the Skeptic,’ the year in which scientists who question the so-called global warming consensus are being heard,’’ the Oklahoma Republican said.

“Until this year, any scientist, reporter or politician who dared raise even the slightest suspicion about the science behind global warming was dismissed and repeatedly mocked.’’

Inhofe recalled his own 2003 remarks in which he said much of the debate over global warming was predicated on fear rather than science.

Alarmists warned of a future plagued by catastrophic flooding, economic dislocations, droughts and mosquito-borne diseases, he said.

Inhofe also recalled his most famous comment in which he suggested that man-made global warming would turn out to be “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people.”

“Today, I have been vindicated,’’ he said.

It’s been a long struggle to combat this hoax. If these emails are for real…this could be the end of the road for anthropogenic climate change hysteria..

Stay tuned.

Chris Horner over at NRO’s Planet Gore has picked up on this:

The Blue-Dress Moment May Have Arrived

…after a few days of scrutiny appears (to the kind of people who would know) to be legitimate.

If legit, this apparently devastating series of revelations will be very hard for the media to ignore. I didn’t say impossible — they’re fully vested partners in the global warming industry, because catastrophism sells. But so does scandal, and this appears to be the makings of a very big one. Imagine this sort of news coming in the field of AIDS research. Then reflect that the taxpayer spends more on climate-related research than on the entire suite of AIDS programs, far beyond drug research.

The director of Britain’s leading Climate Research Unit, Phil Jones, has told Investigate magazine’s TGIF Edition tonight that his organization has been hacked, and the data flying all over the internet appears to be genuine.

Read-o-the Day: Bringing KSM To Trial In NYC Is Wrong, Wrong Wrong

It started with the long march through the institutions…

This piece by John Howard of Family Security Matters makes some predictions. It’s long, but worth reading.

The devastating conclusion:

Until this moment I had not fully gauged the recklessness and cynicism of this administration. Bringing the 9/11 terrorists to the United States for trial in civilian courts is an irresponsible, dangerous and cynical act. But it is consistent with Obama’s leftist project. This decision is a purely political act having nothing to do with the high-minded rhetoric that accompanied its announcement. Obama is willing to risk the security of the American people to make his tawdry point. If Khalid Sheik Mohammed is convicted, Obama will declare the vindication of his view that terrorism is a criminal problem to be handled by the criminal justice system. He will, with the cloying self regard that accompanies most of his acts, proclaim that he has single-handedly elevated America’s reputation in the world and brought us out of the dark night of the Bush years.

If Khalid Sheik Mohammed is acquitted – and here is the really cynical aspect of this profoundly wicked act – Obama will, with his practiced look of pain and disappointment, tell us that it is all Bush’s fault. That if Bush had not allowed all of these terrible, unconstitutional things to occur, we would have gotten the convictions Obama so earnestly attempted to obtain.
The cynicism of this act is breathtaking. The naked politics of it is rank. Obama gets to claim the moral high ground as he tries the Bush Administration by proxy, all the while, with plausible deniability, disavowing that that was his intention. At the same time, he will have the opportunity to play the no lose game of taking credit for convictions and credibly casting blame on Bush if he fails to get them.
It is the perfect leftist paradigm. Expose the United States to criticism and ridicule and cast it as a positive evil in the world. Make the political calculation that you can, at once, discredit your political opponents and take credit for trying to elevate the national reputation in the eyes of the world.
The national interest be damned. What is important is its denigration and the political advantage to be gained by the ideology that has tried so long and, until now, so unsuccessfully, to weaken the last, best hope of man on earth.

Rep Pete Hoekstra on KSM Terror Trial, Fort Hood Shooting.

I just got off the phone from a bloggers conference call with MI Rep Pete Hoekstra, ranking member of the Select Committee on Intelligence, who started off by mentioning that he was among the first in Congress to come out and identify the Fort Hood shooting as a terrorist act, saying there was sufficient evidence that it was a terrorist act by a home grown terrorist right from the get-go. He wants an investigation into how all of the red flags that have come out about Hasan were ignored – (how did he get good performance reviews?) and hinted that what we have heard is “only the tip of the iceberg”.

He stated that the decision to bring KSM to NYC to be tried is an outrageous act. He thinks that this decision is going to follow the same pattern that the decision to close GITMO has followed – which is…much easier said than done.

He mentioned Democratic Senator Jack Reed’s answer when asked, what if KSM is acquitted?: “We would still detain him” – which makes no sense  if we are trying to increase our standing in the world.

He characterizes the trial as “the trial of the century”.

Bill Dupray from the Patriot Room wanted to know what possible upside there was to bringing the terrorists to NY.

Hoekstra thought that was an excellent question, and could think of none. There is simply no good reason for it, politically or otherwise for the administration to be choosing this path. He mentions Chuckie Schumer’s request already for 75 million for NYC to hold the trials, right out of the box, it’s a costly enterprise.

Holder has not been able to answer adequately the reason for the decision. Senator Graham asked him if we captured Osama Bin Laden, would we put him on trial, too? Holder was not able to answer the question. (Gateway Pundit has video). These guys are not on firm footing…

Dupray asked if these defendants would receive full constitutional rights, and Hoekstra believed that they would. Asked if Dupray had heard of The John Adams Project. Dupray was not familiar with them. We need to get familiar with them. They’re a far left, anti-American group who are apparently driving much of this. (Michelle Malkin has mentioned them in a post).

Hoekstra also mentioned that there are 3 key provisions in the Patriot Act that are about to expire at the end of the year, (little over a month), and Congress has not acted on them.

Dan Riehl asked if these trials would essentially put our  intelligence apparatus on trial.

Hoekstra: AMEN…He believes KSM, with willing partner, The John Adams Project will use every opportunity to expose our intelligence apparatus, and reminds us that KSM’s first desire when captured was to be put on trial in NYC. By doing so, we will be putting him on the biggest stage in the world.

He believes a great idea for an oped in the WSJ is the question WHY?

That would seem to be the $64,000 question. (A theory, here).

As for GITMO detainees coming to American soil, he advises the American people to ask the “most transparent administration in history” to declassify their record so we can see for ourselves how dangerous they are.

Blogger Bill Barr wanted an assessment of the threat we face.

Hoekstra: America is target rich. Again advises Americans – give us the info Hoekstra has. Most americans when they see that info will understand why Bush kept them in gitmo.

Hoekstra also mentioned that he is retiring from Congress and running for Governor of Michigan. He will be missed in Congress. But it is Michigan’s gain.

Bill at The Patriot Room has already posted the audio from the call.

Editor’s note:

Yes, I’m having keyboard issues. I’ve been going back and correcting typos as I see them. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Video:Senator Sessions Questions Atty. Gen. Holder + Latest Polls and More

I got the feeling that Sessions is not in favor of civilian trials for captured terrorists…see if you come to the same conclusion:

Andy McCarthy did an epic fisking of Holder’s initial testimony and answers to the first rounds of questions, here.

This is the one that frosts me the most:

8. For eight years justice has been delayed — no longer, “It is past time to finally act.”

Holder, of course, does not mention the role of his firm and others in delaying and derailing the military commissions during their representation of America’s enemies. Senator Kyl just confronted him with my contentions on that score (from this column). The attorney-general responded that I am a polemecist who says inflammatory things for talk shows, whereas he is concerned with facts. (I guess he means pertinent facts, like how he is not “scared of KSM.”) I’m delighted to let people judge that one for themselves.

51% Oppose Decision To Try Terrorists in New York City

Only 30% of Americans said suspected terrorists should have access to U.S. courts.

Two-thirds of Americans disagree with the Obama administration’s decision to try Khalid Sheik Mohammed in a civilian court rather than a military court, according to a new national poll.

Obama: Don’t blame me, it wasn’t my idea:

Video via Pat Dollard

Hear that? The majority of Americans who disagree with this, according to Obama are yahoos who are “fearful” and who believe these terrorists have “special powers” that prevent the patriots in the his justice department from presenting evidence against them.

It’s not that we simply find it Inconsistent, Indefensible, Inexplicable.

The truth is Obama has no argument at all to justify trying this unlawful enemy combatant who perpetrated war crimes against America in a civilian court designed for civilian crimes.

Hot Air: The Definition of Show Trial

Baldilocks: Obama really doesn’t care  how much he and  his administration horrifies us:

Obama wants to destroy this country and, to that end, destroy or weaken the things which make this country great.  Two things which make this country great– country’s systems of jurisprudence and its due process –will be weakened by the venue alone of the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and friends.  So President Obama can be as careless about commenting on the prospective outcome of the trial as he is about every other item that is part of American Exceptionalism.

He does, however, think everyone else is stupid, as does Attorney General Eric Holder.  That’s why the two keep assuring the public that these terrorists will be “convicted and get the death penalty”.  That’s why the AG says irrelevant things about “not being scared” when questioned about the venue decision before the Senate Judiciary Committee.  The two play on the emotions of the public but never address what will happen as a result of this trial; they think that all the public cares about is hanging these terrorists.

Neo Neocon:

America held hostage: the Obama administration so far

The trial promises to be many things: an opportunity to embarrass the Bush administration and put it on trial ex-post-facto, as well as a way to appease the Left, give terrorists a bully pulpit, set some dangerous legal precedents, endanger the people of New York and cause the city to edge ever closer to bankruptcy, further neuter the CIA, and ensure that any judge and jury involved will be risking their lives for the rest of their lives. But it is also the clearest signal so far that President Obama is in fact what the craziest of right-wing nutjobs said he was long ago: a man who lied his way to the office while bent on harnessing the power of that office to undermine the country he swore an oath to protect.

Obama Worried That Debt May Lead To Double-Dip Recession

Dear lord… After all of his reckless spending, he’s now worried it may lead to a double dip recession? – (And it won’t be his fault—it will be yours for not having enough “confidence” in his policies):

We tried to tell him in February (during a snow storm) his insane spending spree wouldn’t help the economy:

We tried to tell him in March:

We tried to tell him in April:

We tried to tell him on the 4th of July:

We tried to tell him on 9/12:

What were we called for our efforts?

We were targeted, blamed, and attacked for protesting policies that have led to double digit unemployment numbers, the threats of massive inflation, and “double-dip” recession?

And now we find that the many of the jobs being reported as “saved or created” are turning out to be completely bogus.

And stimulus funds meant for green energy projects are going offshore?

And more than 15 million people may have to repay part of Obama’s “Tax Credit”?!
