On December 26, two days after Nigerian Omar Abdulmutallab allegedly attempted to use underwear packed with plastic explosives to blow up the Amsterdam-to-Detroit flight he was on, and as it became clear internally that the Administration had suffered perhaps its most embarrassing failure in the area of national security, senior Obama White House aides, including chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and new White House counsel Robert Bauer, ordered staff to begin researching similar breakdowns — if any — from the Bush Administration.
Let that sink in…instead of treating the issue as a national security problem, their first instinct was to treat it as a political one.
I was just saying the other day, after Gibbs played the (by now fully expected, and unsurprising) “blame Bush” card:

Apparently not.
The idea was that we’d show that the Bush Administration had had far worse missteps than we ever could,” says a staffer in the counsel’s office. “We were told that classified material involving anything related to al Qaeda operating in Yemen or Nigeria was fair game and that we’d declassify it if necessary.”
The White House, according to the source, is in full defensive spin mode.
This is via the Prowler, mind you, which also notes that David Axelrod sits in on national security briefings with the President, something political advisers, like Karl Rove, traditionally have not done.

what I find amusing is how the left claims that Obama is “measured” & “calm”, and not some sort of “yeehaw” cowboy like Bush.
This appears to be more rash, hasty, and (yes) immature than anything from our side.

President ACORN Will Adapt or Be Gone
Our Moooslim in Chief will either adapt or he will be told to go home (Indonesia? Kenya?) by the American people in three short years.
This nation needs to:
1) drill for oil domestically
2) dig for natural gas (huge reserves here)
3) dig for coal
4) build nuclear power plants – like crazy!
This will not only create many jobs for Americans but also strengthen the country’s standing.
Hussein bin Obama will either do that or it’ll be closing time for this America’s first anti-American (and first Marxist and first Moooslim) President.

It’s sad, but when something happens, I really don’t wait to hear what the President has to say. His remarks never have any substance to them. He does not instill confidence in me. It’s nothing but politics now, no matter the incident. I go to the internet in hopes of getting something that makes sense. It wasn’t always like that. Welcome to the future.

I want to believe these allegations. I want to believe that the Obama Administration, which I regard as corrupt and deceitful, actually did what the Spectator’s anonymous source describes. It would fit my preconceptions to a T.
BUT…
I’ve been asking myself: If allegations equally damning were to be made by an anonymous source inside a conservative Republican administration, would I be equally ready to accept them?
Sources not willing to have their names revealed should be regarded with considerable scepticism. Such persons’ credibility is hard to verify; their private agendas are unknown. Among other things, they could be setting us up for a “Killian memos” debacle.
So until I see confirmation of these claims, preferably from someone who’s willing to do it on camera and under his right name, I’ll withhold judgment. It’s just too easy to believe accusations of bad conduct when made against someone or some institution I already dislike.
