Video: What The Climate Treaty Is All About

Is this what Obama had in mind when he said,

“I have to be honest, as the world watches us … I think our ability to take collective action is in doubt and it hangs in the balance,” Obama told the COP-15 plenary session as hope faded for anything more than a vague political agreement.

Here’s the world watching, and taking  “collective action” :

Lest you forget, the global warming true believers at the Copenhagen conference gave Chavez a standing O for his anti-freedom, anti-Capitalism tirade the other day. How different are these protesters from that audience?

As I said, earlier, Obama has no interest in what the American people think, because our belief in AGW and support for  cap and trade is dwindling.

But Obama and his fellow travelers know what’s best for us.

The Time To Say “The Time For Talk Is Over” Is Over

One of Obama’s favorite rhetorical crutches made an appearance, today, in his bold Copenhagen speech, designed to throw a lifeline to the stalled climate talks.

Obama, Dec. 18, 2009:

“I have to be honest, as the world watches us … I think our ability to take collective action is in doubt and it hangs in the balance,” Obama told the COP-15 plenary session as hope faded for anything more than a vague political agreement.

When Obama stews about “the world” watching…are Americans included in that equation? Because I can assure him, that most Americans watching this farce are rooting for it to fall apart completely. But I don’t think he really cares what Americans think.

“The time for talk is over, this is the bottom line: We can embrace this accord, take a substantial step forward. We can do that, and everyone who is in this room will be part of an historic endeavor, or we can choose delay,” he said.

Here are some more times when talk was allegedly “over”:

Obama on the (now failed) Stimulus package Feb 5, 2009:

“The time for talk is over,” he added. “The time for action is now, because we know that if we do not act, a bad situation will become dramatically worse. Crisis could turn into catastrophe for families and businesses across the country.”

Obama on health care legislation, July 21, 2009:

“The time for talk is through.” President Obama, talking to liberal bloggers on a conference call Monday night.

Obama on health care legislation, September 9, 2009:

“The time for bickering” over health care is over.

Variations:

Obama to Israel:

“It is past time to stop talking about starting negotiations,” Obama said before talks that included the two leaders as well as senior officials from the U.S., Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Talks “must begin and begin soon.”

Obama campaigning For Creigh Deeds, August 7, 2009:

“I don’t want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess.”

Let me be clear…it’s time to retire “the time for talk is over” cliche.

As for the Copenhagan farce? It looks like Obama’s stern words were not enough to heal the divisions and stop the rising of the oceans. Hot Air reports:

Breaking: India, China walk out of Copenhagen

Barack Obama came, he spoke, and no one concurred:

India and China have taken a united stand and walked out of the climate summit as Copenhagen talks fail.

Tensions prevailed at the climate talks at Copenhagen today, as Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh and China premier Wen Jiabao walked out of the summit along with their respective delegations, as talks failed.

Obama feted Singh just this month, saying that they should be impressed that India got first crack at Obama’s state dinner agenda.  Apparently, Singh was less impressed than Obama presumed.

Al Franken Wields Gavel, Senate Comity hardest Hit

Who gave Al Franken the gavel?

The left is gleeful that Franken “punked” the loathed Liebermann, who is actually onboard this stinkbomb. The excuse for this rudeness is that  Reid has imposed a deadline to get this thing done by Christmas, so everybody has to hurry, hurry hurry…because the Dems know that the longer people have to look at the bill, the more unpopular it will become.

Meanwhile,as Michelle Malkin reports, Reid showed up more than hour late to the floor to make a motion to adjourn:

Apologizes and says “other business” prevented him from being on time. Moves to recess Senate until 12:01am. This will clear the way to hold the cloture vote on the defense authorization bill as early as 1 hour after the Senate convenes, so the Dems can rush into health care.

Republicans are not amused.

7:00pm Eastern: McConnell on the floor talking about how Demcare has become a “literal political nightmare.” And “they want to rush this bill through by Christmas?” And “here’s the most outrageous part: They want us to vote on a bill that no one outside majority leader’s conference room has seen. No one has seen it…This entire process is a complete charade.”

McCain says he doesn’t know what’s happening here….in this body…

He’d better get up to speed. He and the other Senate  Republicans need have some tricks up their sleeves to gum up these works.

All You Have To Know About Copenhagen

Never mind all the  climate science blather. Never mind  Al Gore’s debunked doomsday histrionics, the chaos, the maudlin crying jags, and the elephant in the room.

All you have to know about the climate treaty in Copenhagen to make an assessment is this, via Andrew Bolt:

These maniacs in Copenhagen are voting on your future:

President Chavez brought the house down.

When he said the process in Copenhagen was “not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn’t that the reality of our world, the world is really and imperial dictatorship…down with imperial dictatorships” he got a rousing round of applause.

When he said there was a “silent and terrible ghost in the room” and that ghost was called capitalism, the applause was deafening.

But then he wound up to his grand conclusion – 20 minutes after his 5 minute speaking time was supposed to have ended and after quoting everyone from Karl Marx to Jesus Christ – “our revolution seeks to help all people…socialism, the other ghost that is probably wandering around this room, that’s the way to save the planet, capitalism is the road to hell….let’s fight against capitalism and make it obey us.” He won a standing ovation.

And yes, tragically, (for us), the President of the United States is of like mind with these loons. What more, they are relying on him to swoop into Copenhagen and heal the divisions that threaten to wreck any chances of an agreement. Obama is their hope for the change - The One who will fulfill their Utopian dreams.

Remember when we had a President who eschewed such nonsense?

20 GOP Senators Call for Investigation of Offutt Air Force Base Threat

If the reports are true that the Obama administration tried using extortion to pass ObamaCare by threatening to shut down Offutt Air Force base  if Senator Ben Nelson didn’t vote for the bill….then there needs to be some kind of reckoning. I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything this despicable in American politics.

Michael Goldfarb, (an original source for this story) reports at the Weekly Standard, that 20 Republican Senators are trying to get to the bottom of it.

Twenty Republican senators have requested that the Senate Armed Services Committee launch an investigation into reports that the Obama White House threatened to close Nebraska’s Offutt Air Force base unless Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson fell into line on health care. Those reports first appeared on this blog. In the letter to Senators Levin and McCain, the committee chairman and ranking member, the 20 ask that “a hearing be held as to whether the BRAC process has been compromised.”

Meanwhile, both Nelson and the White House strenuously deny the allegation. A statement from White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer asserts “This rumor is absolutely false, as the people spreading it well know. This is nothing but a cynical, crass political game that is designed to maintain the status quo. Let’s be clear: the people spreading these falsehoods think nothing is wrong with a system under which families and businesses continue to bear the brunt of skyrocketing costs, insurance companies are allowed to discriminate and drop at will, and thousands of Americans lose their coverage every single day.”

They protest a little too much. I do not know this story is “absolutely false.” To the contrary, I’m confident it’s true. Twenty senators are now calling for an investigation, and each is presumably pretty well sourced in the Senate. If the charges are “absolutely false,” maybe the White House will encourage Senate Democrats to call this Republican bluff. I won’t hold my breath.

That’s right, the Obama administration should welcome an investigation if they have nothing to hide. Yeah, given Obama’s history, I’m not going to hold my breath either.

Glenn Beck Tackled the story on his show, Wednesday:

Obama: If Congress doesn’t pass Health Care Legislation, The U.S. “will go bankrupt.”

Well. Don’t this beat all. Just a few days after accusing Republicans of “scaring the American people”, Obama is now attempting  to scare the American people about the health care bill.

President Obama told ABC News’ Charles Gibson in an interview that if Congress does not pass health care legislation that will bring down costs, the federal government “will go bankrupt.”

The president laid out a dire scenario of what will happen if his health care reform effort fails.

“If we don’t pass it, here’s the guarantee….your premiums will go up, your employers are going to load up more costs on you,” he said. “Potentially they’re going to drop your coverage, because they just can’t afford an increase of 25 percent, 30 percent in terms of the costs of providing health care to employees each and every year. “

Obama wants us to believe that after his insane, profligate spending this year,  it will be the failure of passing another budget busting bill that bankrupts the country.

Uh huh.

You know what it sounds like, to me?

Desperation.

It also sounds like somebody is trying to set up a convenient scapegoat for when the U.S. eventually does go bankrupt. The blame will go to the Republicans for opposing health care reform, and of course, Bush, who is to blame for everything.

Mark my words.

ObamaCare On The Brink Precipice…

…of something. The status of the bill is changing by the hour…

The Senate bill is still running into roadblocks against the goal of passage  before Christmas.

I was hearing last night that Reid had all Dem Senators but one, (Burris), but now I hear that Senators Feingold and Sanders are following suit. Ben Nelson is apparently considered a foregone conclusion. *(or not!)

Dan Perrin, at RedState thinks the left is making a shrewd decision:

…on one hand this bill is so unpopular that it will hurt the cause of health care reform and their push for a single payer system if it passes, and on the other hand, the bill is so bad that it is better to leave the status quo and use the health system’s existing problems as a pole vault to pass a single payer system. From their point of view, it may take longer, but in the end, it is a much smarter strategic decision.

My guess is that the progressives will post more than one NO vote from within the Democratic Senate caucus, and ObamaCare will die.

I hesitate to say this…because I don’t want to give away the secret, but, psssst – hey progressives: your man is in the White House. He wouldn’t be going full throttle, no quarter,  no holds barred,  mowing down all opposition to this watered down hodgepodge in the most ruthless and disgusting ways imaginable, if the end game wasn’t exactly the same thing you desire.

As Mike over at Cold Fury says:

Health-care “reform” is no more about actually reforming anything than the “stimulus” scam was about stimulating the economy, or cap-and-tax is about Climate Change (formerly Global Warming, formerly Global Cooling, formerly “the weather”). It is a naked power-grab, the Grand Prize for years of socialist scheming and dreaming. Once they have that, they have it all– and they know it.

Like the EPA’s recent Declaration of Despotism, asserting regulatory control over the very air we breathe, it is about, as an Obama regime goon recently put it, “command and control.” Period, full stop, end of story. They know they have to pass something, anything, now; they can finish filling in the blanks over the course of the next couple of generations if necessary, until they have the kind of absolute power over formerly free individuals they desire.

Take it from the Communist Party USA writing in today’s edition of the Communist Party USA’s People’s World:

We have a lot to do going forward, so let’s celebrate our struggles and future victories: the struggle to fund education and health care, to bring Obama’s health plan to fruition as a big step forward on the road to a national health service, for jobs and housing for all, against racism and sexism, and for a more just, democratic and peaceful nation and world.

It’s nice to know that the gift the left wants to give the American people for Christmas is fully endorsed by the Communist Party USA.

Luckily for us, the gift may not end up under the tree.

This year, anyway.

CLAIRE MCCASKILL (D-MO): “My statement all along is it has to slow down the increase of health care costs over time, and that is bending the cost curve, and secondly, that it has to be deficit neutral. We have to be saving more money for our government than we’re spending. And if we’re not saving more money for our government than we’re spending, then not only will I not support it…” (Fox News’ “Fox News Sunday,” 12/13/09)

Video: Krauthammer On DemCare: “It Will Take A Decade To Undo The Damage”

The latest twists and turns in the health care bill were discussed on Fox’s Special Report, this afternoon. It looks like they’re going to pass  some watered down, but still hideous monstrosity by Christmas. Without a single Republican vote. With 55-60% of the American people opposed to it. The Dems are gunning for control of 1/6th of the US economy, and ain’t nothin’ or nobody gonna stand in their way:

Perhaps the most galling aspect of this farce is this pretense that they’re doing this “for the American people”:

The American public is “waiting for us to act,” Obama said, “and I don’t intend to let them down.”

The American people want you to kill the bill, and start over.

The 2010 Grande Conservative Blogress Diva Awards

Oh my goodness, what an honor. Nice Deb has been nominated for the esteemed “Grand Conservative Blogress Diva Awards” being held over at Gay Patriot; a grand conservative diva being defined as “a strong, confident woman who commands the respect of men.”

I’ve got some stiff competition, too, in fact I see a few fellow Cotillion members in the group of contenders:

This year, our readers have already submitted the names of blogress divas new to the contest, including, we believe, only the second lesbian ever nominated, Cynthia Yockey, aka a Conservative Lesbian.   Will she perhaps replace that other dyke divaTammy Bruce by capturing this year’s Endora and reigning a Conservative Blogress Diva Regent or will she join Sondra K and Pamela Geller as only the third woman to becomethe Grande Conservative Blogress Diva?
Other names drawn to my attention this year include Cassandra of Villainous Company,Nic DebMegan McArdlePhyllis Chesler and Karin Quade (of anti-anti-Americanism.com).
Also contention are reigning divas Pamela Geller, Tammy Bruce and neoneocon as well as Amy AlkonThe AnchoressAnn AlthouseLittle Miss Attila, Dymphna of Gates of Vienna, immediate past Grande Conservative Blogress Diva Sondra K of Knowledge is Power, Mary Katharine Ham of The Weekly StandardRachel LucasMichelle Malkin,Camille Paglia, Virginia Postrel of The Dynamist, Jennifer Rubin of Commentary’s ContentionsSister ToldjahDebbie Schlussel, and Fausta Wertz.
Please submit your nominations (or seconds) in the comments section below or via e-mail.   Bruce and I will review the submissions and choose this year’s roster, posting a poll as soon as this coming Friday with balloting continuing for at least a week.

They are taking nominations until Wednesday, and then, I guess the voting begins. Pamela Geller is the reigning conservative diva. No surprise there! I don’t honestly think Nice Deb has much of a chance against such a formidable group of divas.  I’m just happy and honored to have been nominated. Thank you Gay Patriot.

Woo-hoo!
