Obama Rescues Economy!

After years of economic mismanagement by “many of the same people who are now waxing political about fiscal responsibility while opposing our efforts to reduce deficits by getting health care costs under control, ” Obama tells us in his Brookings speech, today, he has brought the economy back from the brink.

Not that there’s any reason to doubt the Messiah, at all… the AP  fact-checks his speech, anyhow.

And oh…this is awkward, Rasmussen reports:

Most Americans Oppose Second Stimulus and Using Bailout Funds for States:

President Obama hopes to use money still unspent from the $787-billion economic stimulus plan to fight the nation’s 10% unemployment rate, and one of the ideas on the table is to channel money to states to keep them from laying off public employees.

But a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 22% of Americans favor providing federal bailout funds to states with serious financial problems. Fifty-eight percent (58%) oppose giving bailout money to financially troubled states.

On top of that, 56% of Americans oppose the passage of another economic stimulus package this year. While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other congressional Democrats are hoping to spend more to combat unemployment, just 33% favor another stimulus plan.

Is Obama’s legal team imploding due to New Black Panther voter intimidation case?

That’s the question the Washington Times is asking in an editorial, due to fast moving developments in just the past week:

The case involves paramilitary-garbed Panthers caught on videotape (which was backed by copious testimony) engaged in what observers say were intimidating and racially charged activities outside a Philadelphia polling booth on presidential Election Day in 2008. Even though a judge was ready to enter a default judgment against the Black Panthers, based on a case brought by career attorneys at the Justice Department, the Obama administration suddenly decided last spring to drop three of the four cases and punish the final one with an incredibly weak injunction.

Controversy, accompanied by continued administration stonewalling, has ensued ever since.

The new developments last week were as follows:

First, a Web site called “Main Justice” reported on Wednesday (and we have since confirmed) that the Justice Department has, for now, ordered two key career attorneys not to comply with a subpoena about the case issued by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. The commission, by law, has explicit power to issue subpoenas, and the law mandates that “all federal agencies shall cooperate fully with the commission.” The Justice Department, however, is citing internal regulations stemming from a 1951 case to support its order to ignore the subpoena.

One of the attorneys, J. Christian Adams, has been advised by his personal attorney, former South Carolina Secretary of State Jim Miles, that failure to comply with the subpoena could put him at risk of prosecution. “I can’t imagine,” Mr. Miles told The Washington Times, “that a statute that gives rise to the power of a subpoena would be subjugated to some internal procedural personnel rule being promulgated by DoJ.” In short, the department is stiffing the commission and unfairly putting its own employee in a legal bind.

Second, that same day, the two Republican House members with top-ranking jurisdiction over the Justice Department, Rep. Frank Wolf of Virginia and Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, issued a joint statement calling Justice Department delays “a cover-up,” and “a pretense to ignore inquiries from Congress and the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.” At a hearing on Thursday, Mr. Smith said that “continued silence by the Justice Department is an implied admission of guilt that the case was dropped for purely political reasons.”

Third, at the same hearing, Rep. Steve King, Iowa Republican, accused Justice Department Civil Rights Division chief Thomas Perez of not being “truthful” while under oath, to such an extent that “there are people who have gone to jail” for such a level of purported “dishonest[y].”

I was curious to see how the left was going to defend the indefensible – The shocking GLSEN reading list recommended for schoolkids, that Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit posted on his blog, Friday.

It didn’t take long for them to find an angle, as weak as it is:

Anti-gay right advances new smear that DOE official Jennings promoting “Child Porn in the Classroom”

Because being appalled and outraged that GLSEN,(the group founded and once led by Obama’s “Safe Schools Czar”) promoted “fisting” at at least one gay pride conference geared to school children makes you “anti-gay”.

Because being appalled and outraged that Obama’s choice for “Safe Schools Czar” is a man who has publicly expressed admiration for an  infamous, militant, pro-NAMBLA homosexual, makes you “anti-gay”.

Because being appalled and outraged by GLSEN’s promotion of a sick, twisted, pornographic reading list for schoolkids, makes you “anti-gay”.

Riiiiiight.

Gays everywhere should be highly offended by the insinuation that unless you approve of children having sex, you’re “anti-gay”, as if all gays are pedophiles.

So how do they excuse a reading list that includes  books that graphically chronicle the sexploits of  six year olds,  thirteen and fifteen year old boys with older men, 12 year old boys having sex to Christian music etc…?

GLSEN is apparently absolved because they recommend that adults review the books before the kids read them:

GLSEN: “We recommend that adults selecting books for youth review content for suitability”

As Baker acknowledged, in describing its BookLink section, GLSEN states in red type: “All BookLink items are reviewed by GLSEN staff for quality and appropriateness of content. However, some titles for adolescent readers contain mature themes. We recommend that adults selecting books for youth review content for suitability. The editorial and customer reviews listed at Amazon.com often provide information on mature content.” From the section:

Of course, this assumes that the adults choosing these books for children would be responsible parents. That is not always the case, as of course, they know. Some adults might be radical teachers with agendas parents would find abhorrent:

these are the books that GLSEN’s directors think all kids should be reading: gay kids should read them to raise their self-esteem, and straight kids should read them in order to become more aware and tolerant and stop bullying gay kids. Through GLSEN’s online ordering system, called “GLSEN BookLink,” featured prominently on their Web site, teachers can buy the books to use as required classroom assignments, or students can buy them to read on their own…

What jumped out at me in the GLSEN disclaimer is that they admitted that, “All BookLink items are reviewed by GLSEN staff for quality and appropriateness of content.

Seriously? The eleven books that the independent research team read ,were chosen at random, and every. single. one. of them had highly objectionable, and profoundly inappropriate  content.

Epic, epic fail, Media Matters. Shame on you.

ACORN Investigation Will Lead To The White House Part II

A couple of days ago I posted a video of IA Rep Steve King, saying that any ACORN investigation will lead to the White House.

His comment was made last week at a forum attended by “a handful of House Republicans”, sponsored  by Rep. Darrell Issa, California and Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas.

They accused the Obama administration of covering up criminal activities committed by ACORN, saying that the president has used the group as an illegal political tool to help himself and other Democrats get elected. And even in the wake of the scandalous ACORN sting videos, there’s no reason to believe that this practice will end:

“The current administration is fast becoming, in reality, the war room of ACORN’s political machine,” said Rep. Darrell Issa, California Republican. “I am concerned that the era of corruption promulgated by ACORN and protected by the White House is just the beginning.”

The top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said ACORN has engaged in “illegal, partisan activities designed to help individual Democratic members.”

Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, said Mr. Obama’s past ties to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) will “taint any conclusions” by any Justice Department probe into the group.

Republicans have pressed the Justice Department and the FBI to conduct a comprehensive investigation of ACORN. They are upset that the Democrat-controlled Congress hasn’t launched its own probe.

Although Congress cut off federal funding to ACORN, the Obama Justice Dept recently concluded that the government should pay for ACORN contracts (with the executive branch!)  that were in place before Congress passed the law.

While higher-profile aspects of health care reform drew attention, pro-union legislators slipped a variety of big benefits for labor into the proposed legislation. Quietly tucked among the proposals’ thousands of pages, these provisions have avoided much scrutiny.

One provision epitomizes the nature of this ploy. According to research firms, unions are woefully short of funds to pay their retirees’ anticipated insurance claims. Thus, under the House resolution, union leaders who have mismanaged these plans for their members could receive up to $10 billion in taxpayer-funded bailout money, innocuously referred to as a “reinsurance program.”

Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

Under the proposed public option, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius would wield tremendous discretionary authority to regulate participating health care workers. She and various federal panels, where the unions would have guaranteed seats, would take the lead in recommending health care policy. Thus, labor would have considerable influence over decisions affecting most doctors, nurses and patients.

The House resolution establishes a scenario that would effectively exclude non-union employers from eligibility to work on program-funded contracts. It also requires participating health care providers to pay wages and benefits that have been collectively bargained or that union-friendly appointees determine are competitive. This is plainly a move toward coerced unionization. With guaranteed seats at the table, unions are poised to control many newly formed oversight posts and/or committees, formed in connection with new employer mandates and cooperative health care associations.

Yet another provision would establish lucrative state training partnerships that contain little or no opportunities for non-union employee organizations. Provisions in Senate proposals would exempt union-negotiated health care plans from taxes on “Cadillac” health plans.

These features all encourage more unionization. The unions know that under Canada’s nationalized system, union membership among all health care workers is 61 percent, compared to just 11 percent in the U.S.

Increasing membership similarly in this country would swell labor’s coffers with as much as another $2 billion in dues.

In fact, Senate proposals include language that could force home health workers into unions. Disgraced former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and former California Gov. Gray Davis used this approach to repay political debts to the SEIU in their states. They reclassified state-reimbursed home health contractors as state employees, thus forcing them to pay union dues. Again and again, it is apparent that these union-friendly proposals have nothing do with improving our health care system.

An Open Letter To Obama From A Mother, Re Safe School Czar Kevin Jennings

I demand that Kevin Jennings be removed from his position today.

This letter by Jennifer Hartline comes via Catholic Online, and I’m re-posting it in its entirety. Read it, she speaks for millions of us.:

An open letter to Mr. Obama

I will not address you as Mr. President. I question whether you are fit to lead anyone. What I have learned today is the very last straw. I cannot even give you the benefit of the doubt any longer. Frankly, I feel foolish for ever being inclined to do so.

We have endured a great deal from you in one short year, and it is simply too much to bear any longer. You are clearly bent on taking our country down a road of unabashed immorality and debauchery no matter what the people think or say to the contrary. It is time for our elected leaders to take a bold initiative and curtail your abilities to do any further damage.

You have filled your administration with people who hold the most outrageous, insane, and frightening views on everything from our climate to our animals and worst of all, the sexuality of our children. You plainly gravitate toward these radical sorts who have a view of America and the world that I and many other will simply never tolerate. Your intentions have been revealed, and they are divisive and destructive.

Do not attempt to distance yourself from the views of Van Jones, Cass Sunstein, and John Holdren. You don’t get a pass anymore. The buck stops with you. If you appointed them, then you believe what they believe. If you think they’re off-base and you disagree with them, then you shouldn’t hire them to do your laundry, let alone fill a cabinet-level position. If they’re on your team, then you’re okay with everything they’ve said and published – period. You’re the one who wanted the job, so stop crying about being unfairly aligned with crazy radical views.

Quite possibly the worst of all is Kevin Jennings, your so-called Safe Schools Czar. That you have given this man the task of making our public schools “safe” for students to learn is stunning. Jennings has a view of “health” and “safety” for our kids that is shockingly corrupt and devoid of morality and you gave him the job.

I am unutterably sick to death of the hyper-sexualization of our children in this culture, and I will not silently allow you and Jennings to further this twisted agenda in our school system under the banner of tolerance and equality. How dare you use the power of your office to pollute my children’s futures with rampant, forced, immoral sexual indoctrination!

I read through as much as I could stand of Jennings’ list of “safe reading” for our school children beginning in kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. I saw some of the illustrations in these recommended books and I was glad I had an empty stomach. What I read and saw was revolting and pornographic. This filth is what your czar wants our children to read in order to foster understanding, tolerance, and create a safe environment for learning? This putrid smut has one purpose only and that is to break down a child’s moral center and make them slaves to selfish, destructive, immoral, and even deadly sexual behavior.

Your intentions have been revealed, Mr. Obama. You are no friend of parents in this country. If you want to denounce this disgusting “safe reading” list then fire Jennings immediately. Otherwise, you are complicit in endorsing this repugnant garbage and the end result it seeks to achieve. Stop destroying the innocence of our children through exposing them to what appears to be this mans obsession with unrestrained, immoral sexual activity.

As a parent and voter I demand that Kevin Jennings be removed from his position today, and I demand that my Congressman and Senators take action to require his removal. You have proven your motives to be far worse than even I imagined a year ago. I thought, I hoped, that you would prove to be reasonable and show a modicum of moral leadership. That has not been the case in this critical area, the education of our children, and you must not be allowed to drag this nation into an abyss of sexual depravity masquerading as tolerance.

Your sworn allegiance to Planned Parenthood and the abortion “rights” lobby is just the tip of the iceberg. It appears to me you are determined to usher in a modern era of Sodom and Gomorrah. You think I’m wildly exaggerating things here? Then prove it by publicly condemning the trash your czar wants all our children to read.

If you won’t, then I dare you to publicly defend the books that write explicitly about a group of young boys getting together to perform fellatio on each other. Defend the books that feature pictures of a man having anal sex with a boy under the caption stating how this transforms the boy into a man. Defend the books that are filled with kids asking each other if they want to f*** (yes, using that word). This isn’t being marketed to adults; it’s being peddled by coercion to our children.

No elegantly-delivered speech will save you this time. If you do not unequivocally condemn this outrageous trash and fire Jennings, then you are exactly the person I describe here and you’ll get no help from me in keeping your dirty little secret. We both know your political survival depends on parents not finding out what Jennings wants to force into our public school system.

The responsibility is yours. If you will not protect America’s kids from this kind of corruption, then you are unfit to lead this great nation, a nation founded on the truth of the authority and power of God. We do not derive our freedom from our own laws; we do not acquire our worth from our own definitions of human life, but from the God who created us out of love and for love.

You are sliding down a dark tunnel where God is denied, purity is destroyed and love no longer has meaning. You are free to take that terrible trip if you so choose, but don’t you dare take this country with you. I will not quietly oblige you in your efforts to erode the moral fabric of America and her children under some insane pretext of rights and equality.

If you need bedtime reading tonight, I recommend Isaiah 5:20: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”

And Romans 1:28 “Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity… they invent ways of doing evil…they are senseless, faithless, heartless and ruthless. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.”

And Jeremiah 7:28: “This is the nation that has not obeyed the Lord its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.”

There is no excuse, no justification for what you and Jennings are doing. Stop it immediately. I hold you responsible. Every American should hold you responsible. If I’m wrong, prove it.

Today 500 protesters rallied in the pouring cold rain at Manhattan’s federal courthouse where the recently announced Terrorist vs America, circus trials will take place. Two weeks ago, the 9/11 Never Forget Coalition sent a letter signed by 300 family members of 9/11 victims to President Obama, Attorney General Holder, and Defense Secretary Robert Gates asking them to reverse course. The letter has now been signed by over 135,000 Americans.

Andrew McCarthy spoke at the protest. He had this to say last month in National Review

“The post-9/11 era was supposed to be about knocking down walls that obstructed effective counterterrorism. But behold the new wall, more insidious than its suicidal Nineties forerunner: the arbitrary barrier separating terrorism from “protected” incitement — the cagey, generalized, non-specific jihadist rhetoric that is the Islamist cleric’s stock-in-trade. Aside from not being required by law, this new wall will usually mean you can’t go after the worst actors (the Islamic authorities and the terrorists they inspire) until after an attack has happened and Americans have been killed.In other words, be prepared for more Fort Hoods.

We’re not in September 10 America. We’ve managed to land in a much more dangerous place.”

Charles Krauthammer is another one who is appalled by the decision to try 911 terrorists In NYC. In Travesty in New York,  Charles Krauthammer concluded:

“What a perverse moral calculus. Which is the war crime — an attack on defenseless civilians or an attack on a military target such as a warship, an accepted act of war that the United States itself has engaged in countless times?

By what possible moral reasoning, then, does KSM, who perpetrates the obvious and egregious war crime, receive the special protections and constitutional niceties of a civilian courtroom, while he who attacked a warship is relegated to a military tribunal?

Moreover the incentive offered any jihadist is as irresistible as it is perverse: Kill as many civilians as possible on American soil and Holder will give you Miranda rights, a lawyer, a propaganda platform — everything but your own blog.”

Line Forms In Front Of Sioux Falls Barnes and Nobel 36 Hours Before Palin Visit

These people are hardcore fans:

People started lining up as early as 7:30 a.m. this morning to get a copy of Palin’s book, “Going Rogue,” signed. Palin will appear at Barnes & Noble from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.

About two dozen chairs are lined up outside the bookstore with about seven people holding spots in the line.

Victoria Boote, a University of Sioux Falls student, was one of the first in line early this morning. It’s not the first time she’s lined up early for events.

“I do it for fun, but this is for passion,” she said. She said she respects Palin – especially her moral stance.

Is Obama Flipping The Bird?

Gateway Pundit says:

There were reports yesterday that Barack Obama flipped the bird again during his speech in Allentown, PA at a former Hillary supporter.

Is it the “fickle finger of hate”, as a Breitbart commenter dubbed it, or does Obama just have an itchy face? You be the judge.

It always seems to come out when he’s mentioning rivals…

Hundreds Protest Pelosi In Orange County

Orange County tea partiers heard that San Fran Nan was coming to town to speak at an annual Dem dinner, so they quickly organized a tea party to greet her.
