Showdown in Searchlight Tea Party

The red bus makes a scouting trip to Vegas.

The long awaited  Tea Party Express rally in Harry Reid’s hometown of Searchlight is finally happening.  Thousands of people have been streaming into town all morning.

PJTV is covering the rally, here. Fox News Livestreaming, here.

LVTSG is also covering the rally, live:

*Crowd Size Projections Rise to Well-Above 10,000+ Supporters

Throughout the night the staff of the Tea Party Express has been on-location at the site of today’s “Showdown in Searchlight” mega tea party rally.  The staff is dispatched in teams from the entrance point back through the giant 160-acre parcel of land the rally is being held on to guide supporters who have been arriving in RV’s and cars all throughout the night.

With hundreds of RV’s and cars already arriving, organizers at the Tea Party Express are revising the projected crowd size for the rally higher – and expect more than 10,000 supporters to attend this historic event.

Supporters are coming in from every county in Nevada and every state in the nation.

I’ll continue to update throughout the day.

Here’s another pic via Marooned in Marin, who’s also covering the rally:

Sarah Palin is the keynote speaker, along with SNL’s Victoria Jackson,  Melanie Morgan, Mark Williams, Joe the Plumber, Roger Hedgecock and many others.

Also in Searchlight - R.S McCain, who’ll be providing live coverage as well.

Here’s another pic via YellinCNN on Twitter.

UPDATE:

Traffic is reportedly backed up for  miles on US 95 heading into Searchlight, with thousands of people stranded.

What do you know…Ace is heading for searchlight, too. I hope he’s not stuck in that traffic jam.

UPDATE:

Ha: On the same day the Dem Socialists at the DNC are appealing to the RNC to sign a “joint statement on civility”, Harry Reid supporters are pelting the tea party express bus with eggs.

MORE on the egg throwing incident:

About 35 Reid supporters had lined Highway 95 in front of the Nugget Casino in Searchlight where they were attempting a counter-demonstration the tens of thousands of tea party supporters who are gathering for the “Showdown in Searchlight.”

35 supporters…Reid has quite a following there in Searchlight, doesn’t he?

Here’s a good picture of the crowd via Our Country Deserves Better on Facebook :

UPDATE:

The Tea Party Express sent me this media alert:

Crowd Estimates Range from 9,000 – 30,000 People for “Showdown in Searchlight”

Crowd estimates from 9,000 – 30,000+ people for today’s Tea Party Express “Showdown in Searchlight” event featuring Governor Palin.

Members of the press corps estimated the crowd size between 9,000 – 14,000 but the security and crowd control firm working the event estimated 30,000+.

Representatives from the security firm indicated they would be happy to confirm their estimates with interested members of the press, and based their estimates on their history of crowd control for other such public events.

I am watching Sarah’s speech live as I write this. The scene is jammed with people. There was a mile long backup of cars waiting.

Sarah is barely hanging on to the pages of her speech in the strong desert winds in Searchlight NV. A page actually blew away– I hope it was the one with the McCain (McLame) endorsement on it!

No teleprompter, but she has handwritten notes– actually notes written on her hand.

Her message is populist– but stunning in its clarity, firmness and simplicity, in contrast with the muddled lies coming out of most Washington pols.

She reminded politicians that they work for us, not vice-versa and that many of them are fired (or they will be soon, in November.

She spoke for us in condemnation of the Obamacare Obamanation and the incredibly illegal and unconstitutional process that got it in.

Drill for oil, reduce dependency on foreigners, reduce deficits and improve security.

It’s not a time to retreat, but a time to RELOAD (not intended as an incitement to violence)

Don’t tell us to shut up

Make your OWN decisions, keep free enterprise, opportunity– NOT the overeaching arm of govt.

I’ll post a video of the speech when I get it. I expect a FULL report from Mona and other Tea Partiers who went.

Cant say much, but brothers, you are doing the right thing. But do not voice your opinion online or anywhere. The spying techniques they use are beyond what we think. Its best to be personal. It will not be easy, it went on too long. But your are on the right track. They can only win if we allow it. David slew Goliath.

The Democrats have reason to be scared. They know the protective umbrella of Pelosi, Reid, and Obama are gone. Now that they’ve sold their souls and are no longer needed, they have to face their constituents … alone. They think the health care debate is “settled”. That’s akin to General Tojo thinking WWII was “settled” on December 7th. The giant has been awakened and is NOT HAPPY. The arrogance, hubris, and dismissive attitude of the Democratic leadership (and their liberal supporters) will be their Achille’s heel.

I was at the Searchlight event, and of course, nothing on any local or national news coverage of this story: ANDREW BREITBART stopped along the road, where he saw a gathering of people at “The Nugget” restaurant in Searchlight, looking for the parking/location of the event, and witnessed a group of Harry Reid supporters (complete with signs.) As he conversed with a few people, a man told him that he was out here directing Tea Party people in the wrong direction! As Breitbart was questioning him about his intentional misguiding of people, he witnessed Harry Reid supporters throwing eggs at the Tea Party Express busses as they passed on the way to the rally!…When he looked around, asking who did it, the group huddled around to “hide” the perpetrators, then tried to blame it on Breitbart! Obviously, they didn’t know who A.B. was…they said he’d better leave or he’d be spending the night in jail, and the sheriff was called! Tiny town…sheriff was on scene, immediately..When Breitbart was questioned about the incident, he pointed to a camera, and said the whole thing was on video, proving it wasn’t him, so the sheriff left. A.B. advised everyone at the two rallies, in Searchlight, and in Henderson, to blog about this event, since he was sure it would never be mentioned on the news! Not only did this really happen, but once again, the disturbance was caused by the opposition to the peaceful, conservative Tea Partyers, but then BLAMED on them! He also said that he’s offered a large sum of $ to anyone who can come up with a video/audio of even one incident of the “N” word being said to Barney Frank when he walked with Nancy Pelosi, and her gavel, across that “historic'” bridge, last weekend in D.C. Dems claim claim that the offensive “N” word was spouted 15 times as the small group walked through the conservative crowd, and that Frank was even spat upon. Yet with all those people, donned with cell phone cams, videos, and recorders, no one heard that word, even once?! Breitbart started the reward at $10,000, then upped it to $20,000…now it’s $100,000! Still, no one can collect the money, because IT DIDNT HAPPEN! They are continuously, falsely portraying us as racist, inciteful, and violent… trying to convince the naive, trusting public that we’re the “bad guys!” They are setting up a pattern of “setting up” a peaceful, Constitution/America loving group of people, who have reluctantly gotten off their couches to try to save our out of control-government in Washington, from succesfully completing a “hostile takeover.” The violence and racism always comes from the left, not from us! Breitbart reminded us of the African-American man in Kansas city, handing out “Don’t Tread on Me Flags” at a town hall mtg., who was called the “N” word and beaten to a pulp, on video, by two much larger white men, wearing SEIU t-shirts! By law, that is a “Hate Crime,” but the man got off with, maybe, a trespassing citation! We know who the racists really are! Disagreeing with our president’s radical policies has nothing to do with RACE! That’s the only excuse the opposition can come up with. Most of us aren’t so focused on Obama’s race (besides, he’s also half white, too!)…but the liberals, and his fans must constantly REMIND us that he’s black! Why are THE so obsesessed over his RACE?! It’s his agenda that matters!
We have ANGER towards what’s happening to our country, but we are peaceful, non-violent, non-racist, people! All it will take is one CRAZY, part of the group, or not to make them right. The fear is how far they will go to make us look bad!

If anyone only saw “dozens of them” at the rally area north of Searchlight, they should immediately go to their eye doctor and should resign their reporting position with CNN. I was there!!..from 8 AM to 4 PM. There were over five miles of cars parked north of the entrance, andthere were hundreds of cars and motor homes inside the rally area. I estimate there were 18,000 people…let’s see now….that seems to me to be about 1,500 dozen–unknown how many parked south of the rally area!! A friend said no, over 20,000 total….well, you all get the point. AND, A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!! Ann

I am from Nevada and my husband and I rode a bus into the event at Searchlight. Miles of cars and definetly the news has not reported accurately on the event. We witnessed the eggs splattered on Tea Party Express Bus. When we got back into to town our car had been keyed on drivers side door. I wonder what the left thinks they really accomplish by having lies and criminal actions done to true Americans who are going to vote their ass out. It must mean we are making the difference and “hell no” we will not forget come November.

I was there on Friday night and stayed at the El Rey motel (booked the last room in February). Met some incredible folks and planned to catch up with them and leave for the site at 5am. Got there about 515ish, put my chair and bag of stuff in the front row and then warmed up off and on before sitting down for 4 hours. Had some incredible talks with all sorts of people, and being a 30-something single female, told them of my concerns not only for the younger generations, but for my parents and my own. My generation needs to turn off facebook, the blackberries, and ipod, and wake the hell up and smell the usb cable burning. I had an incredible time and will never forget it!

It is great that sooooo many showed up to let DC know wecare and that when Obama said we the people did not care HOW THE bill was passed we just wanted it passed—JUST HOW STUPID CAN ONE PERSON BE–YOU DAMNED RIGHT WE CARE!!!!!!! WE DO NOT WANT HIS BRAND OF SOCIALISM!!! A health care bill that improves the system would be great, but not he trash they dreamed up!!!! And Nancy saying the bill would have to be passed so we could see what is in it??? Would you sign a blank check and give it to someone??? I think not, but to vote on a bill that is not even completely written is doing exactly that—SHAME ON OUR GOVERNMENT!!!! I am not young enough to attend these rallies and am so proud our country has younger people interested enough to show their disdain of such outrageous legislating!!!! Thank you!!!!!
