Media Narrative Takes Another Hit: Poll Shows 4 In 10 Tea Partiers Are Dems Or Independents

What, they’re not all a bunch of fanatical right wingers? There are even some Dems unhappy with Obama’s insane spending spree, and grotesque expansion of government? Say it ain’t so!

The Hill reports:

Four in 10 Tea Party members are either Democrats or Independents, according to a new national survey.

The findings provide one of the most detailed portraits to date of the grassroots movement that started last year.

The national breakdown of the Tea Party composition is 57 percent Republican, 28 percent Independent and 13 percent Democratic, according to three national polls by the Winston Group, a Republican-leaning firm that conducted the surveys on behalf of an education advocacy group. Two-thirds of the group call themselves conservative, 26 are moderate and 8 percent say they are liberal.

Liberal tea partiers? That sounds like an oxymoron – unless we’re talking about “classical liberalism”, in which case, maybe they should update their terminology to the 21st century to avoid confusion.

UPDATE:

Ed Morrissey took a close look at the demographics of the tea party movement, according to this poll:

Is the Tea Party as racist as the media and leading Democrats have portrayed?  Gallup’s demos of the Tea Party look very close to that of the overall American demos on ethnicity.  Whites make up 79% of the Tea Party and 75% of the population; blacks, 6% of the Tea Party and 11% of the population; and “other” in the Tea Party exactly matches the general population at 15%.

The demographic similarities don’t stop there.  The educational background of Tea Party followers almost exactly matches that of the general population.  Among age demos, the differences between the two are no more than two points for any of the four categories used by Gallup.  The same is true of employment profiles, although ironically Tea Party followers tend slightly more to be employed full-time than not.  Income demographics differ a little more, but not by much.  Low-income earners (less than $30K) make up 19% of the Tea Party, as compared to 25% of the general population, and those making more than $50K are 55% of the Tea Party rather than the 50% of the general population, but that’s not much of a difference.

This is exactly why, as Morrissey notes, the MSM is bleeding viewers and readers. Mainstream Americans are sick of seeing their values, and a movement they sympathize with, trashed, day in and day out.

Big Government: Throwing Stones, The Left’s Hypocrisy Problem

Many a partisan and pundit-provocateur has spent the last year trying to convince us that the tea parties consist of violent extremists.  The multi-front attack has come from the media, Hollywood, and the current White House.

At the genesis of the movement, David Axelrod couched criticism of the Obama agenda as “unhealthy” on national television.  Last April, the infamous “right-wing extremism” report released the week before the tax day tea parties by the Department of Homeland Security.  The report referenced “disgruntled veterans” and lumped those that believed in states’ rights in with white supremacists and militia members.  It was an embarrassment to the Department of Homeland Security and the administration.  Public apologies to veterans and regrets regarding the extremely broad language were issued.

Da Techguy’s Blog: Yeah insult people’s neighbors, that’ll work.

John at Powerline weighs in:

The key datum, as usual, is that independents prefer the Tea Party over Obama by 50-38 percent.

It is starting to appear that the Democrats would have been better off to engage the Tea Partiers’ ideas, rather than merely slandering them. But old habits die hard.

Lefties can’t engage in ideas because they know that their own ideas are wildly unpopular with mainstream Americans. That’s why time and time again they rely on smears and name-calling.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone - even you trolls. He is risen, rejoice and be glad.

The Blog Professor shreds Obama’s ridiculously inclusive Easter address: Obama’s Easter Address Includes “Muslims and Hindus, Nonbelievers”

Look, there are times when being inclusive is very well and good, and then there are times when it’s just plain awkward and inappropriate. Just like it would be inappropriate to include Christians Jews, and Hindus in a Ramadan or Ashoura message – (esp. Ashoura -*shudder!*).

The Professor sez:

In total, Obama mentioned Jesus Christ the same number of times he mentioned Muslims, Hindus and nonbelievers in his Easter address. This was no ‘spiritual’ address in tone, it was political.

I’m glad Zo decided to do this because it reinforces my hunch that all these accusations of racism, homophobia, and just plain hatefulness, that the left has hurled at the tea partiers -  is nothing more than projection, on their part.

Tea Party Express Rolls Into Topeka

It was a wet one! The teaparty express was scheduled to make a stop at 10:00 am in front of the State capital in Topeka, Kansas, and I decided to go.  I was running late as usual, and was well along  my way when the torrential downpour began. Lots of cars were pulling off to the side of the road, and I had about an hour’s drive left ahead of me. I was wondering  how many people would show up in such nasty weather.

Well, plenty, it turns out, approx. 500-600 ppl:

On to the signs…there were some good ones, as usual: Read the rest of this entry »

This Seems A Bit Harsh…

This doc is obviously ticked that Obamacare is now the law of the land. We  feel his pain, but still…

MOUNT DORA — A doctor who considers the national health-care overhaul to be bad medicine for the country posted a sign on his office door telling patients who voted for President Barack Obama to seek care “elsewhere.”

“I’m not turning anybody away — that would be unethical,” Dr. Jack Cassell, 56, a Mount Dora urologist and a registered Republican opposed to the health plan, told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday.

“But if they read the sign and turn the other way, so be it.”

The sign reads: “If you voted for Obama…seek urologic care elsewhere. Changes to your healthcare begin right now, not in four years.”

Estella Chatman, 67, of Eustis, whose daughter snapped a photo of the typewritten sign, sent the picture to U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, the Orlando Democrat who riled Republicans last year when he characterized the GOP’s idea of health care as, “If you get sick America … Die quickly.”

Right…this could get interesting.

UPDATE:

Well, the readers of the Orlando Sentinel don’t seem to think it’s harsh:

There’s Been A Great Disturbance In The Narrative

Militia Plotter Was Anti-Bush

Kris Sickles, aka “Pale Horse, one of eight members of the Hutaree, a Christian militia group  charged with seditious conspiracy in connection with a plot to kill law enforcement, doesn’t seem like your average conservative Christian.

Proceed with mind bleach on hand if needed:

The accused plotter looks to have starred in a deeply Not Safe For Work movie, filled with cursing, mock violence, pot jokes, and sound effects conveying flatulence. Sickles appears entirely naked but for a mask of President George W. Bush that obscures some, but not all, of his genitalia.

In the film, Sickles’s chubby, tattooed character finds himself attacked by an enormous creature which appears to be half man, half duck. “Scar my tattered body no more with your punishing dildo mallet,” Sickles exclaims at one particularly dramatic moment.

After reading that, there’s been a great disturbance to my psyche, as well.

Only Indicted Militia Member With Party Affiliation Is… a Democrat

Oh, and it’s  not the guy pictured above – it’s a different one.

Most of the indicted militia members accused of being anti-government extremists have active voting records, a check with area voter registration offices showed yesterday. One is a registered Democrat, and the party affiliations of the rest could not be determined. Jacob J. Ward, 33, of Huron, Ohio, voted as a Democrat in the 2004 and 2008 primary elections. He also voted in 10 other elections since 2000. Party affiliation in Ohio is determined by which party’s ballot they requested in the most recent primary election.

Oh, the narrative has taken a hit, all right.

Hello Republicans? America needs to be reminded of the Democrat’s galling, self congratulatory behavior in the face of massive public opposition to ObamaCare as often as possible from now until election day.

Why I’ve Been Ignoring The NYTs Attack On The Pontiff

I never believed a word of it, ( it’s  Holy Week, after all, that wonderful time of year, the left must attack the Church). I’ve been too preoccupied with politics, and frankly too disgusted to respond.

But the Anchoress hasn’t been. Not by a long shot.

FYI:

Anarchists plan to disrupt tea parties this April 15th:

Via the Jawa Report:

From Anarchist’ R Us:

On April 15th thousands of right-wingers will attend rallies in cities and towns across the United States. The organizers of this nationwide day of protest call it a tea party. This tea party movement that emerged only a year ago is a coalition of conservatives, anti-Semites, fascists, libertarians, racists, constitutionalists, militia men, gun freaks, homophobes, Ron Paul supporters, Alex Jones conspiracy types and American flag wavers.[...]1. Organize counter-protests against the tea party demonstrations, same time, same place. This is probably the best option. We need to get in the streets on April 15th and show the tea party movement that there are lots of people out there who oppose their agenda.

2. Get individual tea party protesters to leave the right-wing and move to the left politically.[lol] That would involve passing out stuff like this at the tea party demonstrations: http://www.anarchist-studies.org/node/299

3. Ignore the tea party movement. This is the worst option because without anyone opposing them they could easily gain power.

Some good articles critical of the tea party movement:

Pranks! And also since they rail against “socialism,” off them a petition they can sign stating that they will pledge to never again use our socialist highway system, eat food inspected by the socialist FDA, turn away the socialist fire-department if their house is on fire, etc.

Be ready for hijinks.  As for the “anti-racist action” – be ready to patiently explain to these goobers that the tea party movement is neither racist, nor race obsessed. Everyone is welcome.
I’d like to know what type of anarchist supports the expansion of government power. I thought they considered “the State undesirable”. Whatevah.
