Did Not See This One Coming: Obama Okays Tax-Payer Funded Abortions Under ObamaCare

I didn’t see this one coming, did you? I mean, Obama was so adamant about his promise that his health care plan would continue the ban on federally funded abortions. He said so in countless speeches, including one before a joint session of Congress. He said so in his “myth-busting” teleconferences with Pastors and Rabbis, last August, and in this “myth-busting  weekly address from August 22…See how far you can get through the video before you start retching…:

I started at the point where he accused ObamaCare opponents of making “willful misrepresentations and outright distortions” while pointing his finger at the camera. He was referring to pro-life groups, Sarah Palin, and other assorted people who had actually read the bill, all of whom were right, as it turns out.

This particular “outrageous myth circulating the internet” has gone through somewhat of a metamorphosis. ..by Feb. 2010 “outrageous myth” was downgraded to a Republican “talking point”….By March, in order to pass the bill, Obama signed an Executive Order promising no federal, taxpayer  funded abortions, which he knew would not hold up in court…so “outrageous myth” became farce.

LifeNews reported, today, on the latest mutation….as “outrageous myth” becomes reality:

The abortion funding comes despite language in the bill that some pro-abortion Democrats and Obama himself claimed would prevent abortion funding and despite a controversial executive order Obama signed supposedly stopping abortion funding.

The pro-life community strongly opposed the executive order and said Rep. Bart Stupak and other House Democrats who voted for the pro-abortion health care bill in exchange for it were selling out their pro-life principles. This first case of forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions under the new law appears to prove them right that the bill language and executive order were ineffective.

Proving the point further that the abortion funding comes from federal taxpayer dollars, Johnson explained that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has emphasized that the high-risk pool program is a federal program and that the states will not incur any cost.

On May 11, 2010, in a letter to Democratic and Republican congressional leaders on implementation of the new law, DHHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius wrote that “states may choose whether and how they participate in the program, which is funded entirely by the federal government.”

Johnson says that on June 28, Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Joel Ario (a member of the appointed cabinet of Governor Edward Rendell, a Democrat) issued a press release announcing that the federal Department of Health and Human Services had approved his agency’s proposal for implementing the new program in Pennsylvania.

“The state will receive $160 million to set up the program, which will provide coverage to as many as 5,600 people between now and 2014,” according to the release. “The plan’s benefit package will include preventive care, physician services, diagnostic testing, hospitalization, mental health services, prescription medications and much more, with subsidized premiums of $283 a month.”

Johnson says the “much more” Ario refers to is abortion funding.

The section on abortion (see page 14) asserts that “elective abortions are not covered,” though it does not define elective — which Johnson calls a “red herring.”

The proposal specifies coverage “includes only abortions and contraceptives that satisfy the requirements of” several specific statutes, the most pertinent of which is 18 Pa. C.S. § 3204, which says abortion is legal in Pennsylvania. The statute essentially says all abortions except those to determine the sex of the baby are legal.

“Under the Rendell-Sebelius plan, federal funds will subsidize coverage of abortion performed for any reason, except sex selection,” said NRLC’s Johnson. “The Pennsylvania proposal conspicuously lacks language that would prevent funding of abortions performed as a method of birth control or for any other reason, except sex selection — and the Obama Administration has now approved this.”

Kathryn Jean Lopez noted at The Corner:

House Minority Leader John Boehner sent a letter to Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius last month asking: “Has the Department provided guidance to states to implement the president’s Executive Order on abortions? When does the Administration expect to issue the directive on abortions? Will the new federal high-risk pools touted by the Administration also ensure that abortions will not be covered? Millions of Americans care deeply about this aspect of the new law and its implementation, and no progress report is complete without detailed information about it.”

Sebelius eventually responded with a bit of a non-response response: She said the administration was working on guidance, no specifics. Boehner, I am told, subsequently raised similar questions with the president and got nowhere. Sebelius’s progress report on Obamacare last week mentioned nothing about it.

And so here’s your first answer of substance about just what Bart Stupak & Co. got out of the White House in the name of the unborn: Nothing. But Democrats still can’t own up to it. Where’s the dignity in that?

Dignity? Not from this bunch. Not from a the most viciously pro-abortion President we’ve ever had, either -  A man who would lie even to the Pope about abortion has no shame,  honor, or decency, either.

Town Hall Erupts When CA Congressman Brad Sherman Admits He’s “Simply Not Aware of that (New Black Panther) Case”

This is why most Democrats are eschewing Town Halls, this summer…the anger and disgust with their malfeasance has reached a boiling point, and they know it.

Listen to this hapless Congressman’s reaction after listening to one of his constituents describe the dismissal of the  New Black Panther Case by Obama’s DOJ, and question the new DOJ policy not to pursue civil cases in which the perpetrator(s) are black and the victim(s) white…and listen his constituents react when they hear him admit his ignorance:

The Media’s Deplorable Double Standard In Covering The New Black Panther Voter Intimidation Case

Consider for a moment, these headlines:

Baton Wielding Tea Partier Blocks Entrance To Polling Station, Shouts Racial Slurs At Blacks

Tea Party Activist lashes out at Blacks: “You’re going To Have To Kill Some Niggas…and their Babies!”

Tea Partier Heaps Praise On Osama Bin Laden For Latest Killings In Afghanistan

Tea Party Activist Proudly Proclaims: “I Love Fightin’ Me Some Niggas!”

Imagine further that all of these offenses were caught on tape, and were not a figment of some Dem strategist’s Alinkyfied imagination.

What if a Tea Party affiliated election official was discovered to have canceled ballots cast by white black voters. He stuffed the ballot box with illegal ballots supporting his preferred black white candidates. He deployed teams of notaries to roam the countryside and mark absentee ballots instead of voters. He allowed forced assistance in the voting booth, to the detriment of white black voters. He threatened 174 white black voters by declaring that if they tried to participate in an election, he might challenge them and not let them vote.

Wow. Can you imagine the hue and cry? The wailing and gnashing of teeth? The howling from the lapdogs  just from MSNBC’s prime time line up, alone? Forget about the NAACP passing some lame resolution condemning “Tea Party Racism”…they would be calling for these miscreants’ heads on pikes.

The double standard in the MSM, and among Dems,  and the NAACP is almost  too much for a reasonable person to bear.

There was breathtaking silence about the Black Panther case in the MSM (outside of Fox) until Media Matters could come up with a sufficiently confusing and obfuscating  meme for them to work with.

Well, our friends on the left have done themselves proud —the meme  has finally been established!  Cynthia Tucker, writing for the Atlanta Journal and Constitution enthusiastically dove in:

Bush DOJ decided New Black Panthers no major case

It was clear from the beginning that this was not a case of voter intimidation against anyone who might vote for John McCain. As many observers noted on that day, no matter how badly those two New Black Panters were behaving (and the police were called and responded), it’s a HEAVILY DEMOCRATIC PRECINCT. As blogger Ben Smith noted way back then, “You don’t typically intimidate your own voters.”

But solid reporting from Media Matters and Adam Serwer of The American Prospect ought to put this nonsense to rest (it won’t, but it should). The charges against the New Black Panthers were downgraded by the Bush Department of Justice:

The decision not to file a criminal case occurred before Obama was even in office.

This means that the case was downgraded to a civil case 11 days before Obama was inaugurated, 26 days before Eric Holder became attorney general, and about nine months before Thomas Perez was confirmed as head of the Civil Rights Division.

“You don’t typically intimidate your own voters.”

They were there to intimidate white voters, and poll watchers, (to maximize illegal votes according to lifelong Democrat, Civil Rights Attorney,  Bartle Bull).

But I love this idea that if you live in a mostly Dem, (or mostly Repub?) district, it’s okay to intimidate some of the voters. FAIL.

“The charges against the New Black Panthers were downgraded by the Bush Department of Justice”.

And your point is?

Apparently Dave Weigel, and other dweebs on the left, are running with this new meme as well. Gabe, at AoSHQ, responded with  lawyerly precision:

To the Left and Dave Weigel (BIRM), this somehow means that Obama flunkies couldn’t have been responsible for circular-filing the case in May 2009. Well, the obvious flaw with this line of reasoning is that it was the dismissal of the civil case that caused an uproar and started the US Commission on Civil Rights sniffing around.

The Left wants to change the story to something about a criminal case against the hate-stick wielding racialists playing thug for a day at a polling place. Well, that’d be nice (who doesn’t love folks who brandish hate-sticks?), but that’s not what the story was about.

The Washington Times broke this on May 29, 2009 (note for idiot Leftists: that’s after Obama was inaugurated and after Perrelli joined Justice):

Justice Department political appointees overruled career lawyers and ended a civil complaint accusing three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense of wielding a nightstick and intimidating voters at a Philadelphia polling place last Election Day, according to documents and interviews.

It was always about the civil complaint, right from the beginning. Adam Serwer is, well, an artard who wants to change the story. And Weigel uncritically repeats this Lefty meme as if it proves something.

Can you imagine these hacks running interference for the “racist teabaggers” I described at the beginning of this post?

I can’t either.

Not content to file one lawsuit (already piled on top of the ACLU/reconquista crowd’s lawsuit), Attorney General Eric Holder signaled this weekend that he’s prepared to file another complaint:

Perhaps this is Holder’s way of admitting how foundationally weak and bogus his first lawsuit against Arizona is.

Or perhaps he’s just an obnoxious  buffoon.

Michelle’s been keeping tabs on all of the corruption and injustices at the DOJ. Prepare to be even more enraged.

The American Spectator: Gallup: Majority of Americans Don’t Know What “Progressive” Means

What is it that Rush likes to say?  Oh yeah. Libs wake up every day and ask themselves, “How can we fool them, today?” Case in point:

Today, Gallup released the results of a recent poll which quantifies why so many on the left have eschewed the liberal label in favor of progressive. It finds that while just 12 percent of Americans say they would describe themselves as “progressive” and 31 percent say they would not, a majority of 54 percent are unsure about the meaning of the term. Thus, by using the word to describe their politics, Democrats can send a signal to small percentage of the population that embraces the term, while it will go over the heads most people — many of whom would be uncomfortable with a politician who described themselves as liberal.

Isn’t post-racial America, wonderful?

It’s gonna be a long hot summer…

Roger L. Simon revisits the Rev. Wright Saga with Liar, liar: Why Obama is failing:

Barack Obama told us on several occasions then that he had not been aware of Wright’s extreme black nationalist views during the candidate’s twenty years in the reverend’s church. That made no sense, since Obama had dedicated his book to Wright, had his children baptized by him, etc. Also, Wright’s separatist brand of black liberation theology was no doubt quite familiar to Obama. It had been to many of us for decades.

Yet the mainstream media paid little attention, or tried not to, certainly did not deign to investigate in any depth. Indeed they went so far that many of them declared Obama’s attendant speech on race a masterpiece of the MLKing sort, when it was no more than an assemblage of clichés and mendacious clichés at that, since they covered up the obvious uncomfortable truth that the candidate knew all about Wright and, unlike Oprah Winfrey who left the Trinity Church years before, chose to ignore it for reasons he could or would not be honest about.

So we were lied to about this by Obama and the MSM winked. Yet it was a far more significant lie than Clinton’s proclamations about Monica Lewinsky, which only peripherally affected affairs of state and were obviously the desperate acts of a man caught cheating. Obama’s prevarication was about the very essence of his political views. Widely desirous of electing its first black president — I felt this myself but did not act upon it — the nation gulped and swallowed the lie, but, consciously or unconsciously, it did not forget.

Now we are where we are. We have a president that no one wants to listen to because we do not fully believe him. His own party is deserting him not just because they know his ideas are unpopular. They also know he is unable to convince anyone. We have shut him off.

And now the revelations of J. Christian Adams have shown that his Department of Justice has a racial bias not entirely dissimilar to those of Reverend Wright. Again the MSM is doing its best to ignore this, but the damage is still there and growing and Obama will not be able, this time, to make a speech in his defense.

It’s over. For all the excitement of his election, having lied his way into office, Barack Obama was essentially DOA his first night at the White House.

NRO: Krauthammer’s Take:

On the under-reported story of the week:

In Aspen this week, the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates said that he not only supports but almost invites … a U.S. attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities because, he says, it is impossible to imagine living in deterrence or containment on Iran. Even without nukes it’s still aggressive and cannot be contained.

J. Christin Adams: The Ike Brown Case: Is the DOJ About to Fail Another Race-Based Test?

This story hails from rural east Mississippi: majority black Noxubee County is home to Ike Brown, one of the most lawless purveyors of racial discrimination the nation has seen in decades. (I have written in greater detail about the racially motivated lawlessness Brown used to victimize minority white voters in the county.) Brown canceled ballots cast by white voters. He stuffed the ballot box with illegal ballots supporting his preferred black candidates. He deployed teams of notaries to roam the countryside and mark absentee ballots instead of voters. He allowed forced assistance in the voting booth, to the detriment of white voters. He threatened 174 white voters by declaring that if they tried to participate in an election, he might challenge them and not let them vote. He publicized the 174 names.

Brown ran the primary elections because he is the Democratic Party chairman. At the trial, a woman on Brown’s list testified that she was too afraid to vote because she thought she might be arrested.

The federal court found that the publication of the list of 174 names was an illegal form of intentional racial discrimination. The United States district court held:

The question is whether Brown’s action with respect to this list of 174 voters was actuated by these party loyalty concerns or whether this was pretext for a true purpose to discourage white voters from coming to the polls, or some combination of the two. The court has carefully weighed the evidence and finds that while party concerns were a factor in Brown’s actions, race played a role as well. … In sum, the court is of the opinion that Brown had the names of these white voters published in part because of party loyalty concerns, but also as an attempt to discourage white voters from voting in the 2003 Democratic primary.

Brown’s overall behavior was so outrageous that the court stripped him of all authority to run elections until 2012, and gave the power to a former justice of the Mississippi Supreme Court as a special administrator. The remedy was unprecedented, but upheld on appeal because of the brazen lawlessness of Ike Brown.

Fast forward to 2010, to the Eric Holder Justice Department.

Finally! 2 Years Too Late, “We Will Not Be Silenced” Documentary Of Obama Campaign’s Voter Fraud and Intimidation in ’08 Given Airtime On Fox

Two. years. too. late.

I am beyond annoyed and disgusted with Fox… Why was the documentary, “We will Not Be Silenced” not worthy of play in ’08, when it mattered… even at Fox News ? I posted the videos, here, (link fixed) in October ’08, as did many PUMA sites, and others in the right-wing blogosphere,  but the MSM, including Fox, in their infinite wisdom, chose to ignore it…just one of too many to count stories that were vitally important, but ignored. How’s that working out for us now?

“The Clinton campaign at that time tried to get the press’s attention, tried to get the DNC’s attention and they couldn’t”.

Well, the MSM and the DNC were colluding with the Obama campaign. What was Fox’s excuse? For the silence?

We’ve got another election coming up soon, and the people who orchestrated the travesty of  ’08 are even more powerful, now. Are we ready for this fight?

Daylife reported:

Calls to protest Arizona’s tough illegal-immigration law fell flat in Boston yesterday as barely 400 people rallied in opposition to Gov. Jan Brewer and her policy to use ID checks to arrest illegals.

Organizers had predicted the gathering would draw thousands, but less than 400 people – some of them counter-protesters – showed up for the Copley Square rally.

After the two-hour gathering, protesters marched in a downpour through Back Bay to the Sheraton Hotel, where Brewer, a Republican, attended the National Governors Association meeting.

***

Todd Domke, a Republican media strategist, said he wasn’t surprised at the low turnout, given public opinion polls in the state.

“Polls show people are against immigration, against giving benefits to illegal immigrants,” he said. “The passion is clearly more on the side of those who favor the Arizona law.”

Gov. Deval Patrick supports the federal lawsuit challenging the Arizona law, and the Boston City Council passed a resolution to cut ties with all Arizona businesses.

A fiery Steve Kirschbaum, a member of United Steeworkers Local 8751, called the law “scumbag, racist and fascist.”

A video of the protest can also be seen at MyFoxBoston:

A coalition of immigrant groups bused in advocates from around the East Coast for a rally Saturday to protest Arizona’s controversial immigration law, recently signed by Brewer.

Protesters in Copley Square said Brewer was a bigot and called for the end of what they said was “racist deportation.” They later marched to a hotel where Brewer was attending the annual governors meeting.

Al Jazeera told of NASA’s Muslim outreach Before Lawmakers

Logo via Michelle Malkin: NASA logo makeovers: New Arabic Sensitivity Administration

This is starting to look like a pattern. Just like the citizens of Equador were the privileged  first to hear about the Obama administration’s decision to sue Arizona…the citizens of the Middle East, via Al Jazeera,  were the first to hear about Obama’s absurd idea to use NASA for  “Muslim Outreach”.

I think that’s what we get when we elect a “citizen of the world”, instead of a proud American.

Byron York reports:

Lawmakers across Capitol Hill, both Democrats and Republicans, were surprised to learn recently that the Obama administration has made reaching out to Muslim nations a top priority for the space agency NASA. They will probably be more surprised to learn that administration officials told the Middle East news organization Al Jazeera about it before they told Congress.

Rep. Pete Olson, the ranking Republican on the House Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics, got a call from NASA Administrator Charles Bolden on June 28, the day the White House released its new long-term plan for the space program. “He ran down some of the things from the president’s new space policy, and mentioned outreach to Muslims,” Olson recalls. “That stunned me. I didn’t believe it.”

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the Democrat who chairs the subcommittee (and is also married to astronaut Mark Kelly), got a briefing from Bolden the same day, according to a spokesman.

As it happens, Bolden’s calls to Giffords and Olson came several days after Bolden discussed the Muslim initiative with Al Jazeera. According to a NASA spokesman, Bolden sat down with Al Jazeera’s Imran Garda on June 17, during a stop in Doha, Qatar. Bolden’s Mideast trip, which was timed to mark the first anniversary of President Obama’s June 2009 Muslim outreach speech, was devoted to pursuing “a new beginning of the relationship between the United States and the Muslim world.”

Naturally, most Americans know nothing about this because of the near total media blackout, but the truth will slip out eventually, and the MSM will sink even further into irrelevance, when it does.

It’s unlikely majority Democrats would crack down on NASA, but the space agency could be in for some serious questions if Republicans win the House of Representatives this November. “If we get the majority, then we’ll have a say,” Olson says. “We can de-fund things, and this would be a prime candidate in my mind.”

Reason #8973664 to vote R in November.

10 Buck Friday Winner Announced: Congratulations Eric Wargotz!

Right Klik reports  the results:

Here are the approximate results of the Ten Buck Fridays poll for the week of July 4 – July 9:

Fourth place: Ann Marie Buerkle, 6.4%

Third place: Teresa Collett, 11.4%

Second place: Charles Lollar, 16.0%
First place: Eric Wargotz, 54%
All four of the top candidates reached out to their supporters for TBF votes via Facebook, Twitter, email, etc.
I am proud to be a member of the rapidly-growing TBF network, and I’m very pleased with the interest TBF continues to generate. Stay tuned for exciting developments. Big news is right around the corner.
UPDATE:

Apologies to the Wargotz campaign for initially putting up the wrong hyperlink to his donation page. I had copied the link from RightKlik, assuming that it went to his donation page, and not Youtube. I have a problem with that, because Wargotz won fair and square, and donors should decide for themselves whether or not he’s deserving of their donations. The Stark video from CPAC  is under dispute, with the Wargotz campaign claiming that it  was  doctored to make him look like a birther.

UPDATE II:

I am  informed that there were also concerns with the integrity of many of the votes for Wargotz —-I’ll leave it at that. In the future, I think suspicious voting patterns like hundreds of votes from one IP should disqualify a candidate.

Donate to whomever you please from the list, this week, folks.
