Video: Emily’s List’s Mama Grizzly Fail

Ladies?!

These are the weakest and ugliest mama grizzlies I’ve ever seen. These feministas fail miserably at the most important trait of  the mama grizzly bear, the trait that pretty much defines a mama grizzly’s character.

She fights to protect her young. She doesn’t advocate killing them. A real  mama grizzly would never say she’s “threatened by her daughter not having the right to choose”.

Mama grizzlies are rugged individualists. They take care of their cubs without outside help, thank you very much. In fact if you get too close with that government cheese, she’s liable to rip your face off.

These mama grizzlies are just as fake as they look. A better analogy would be  worker bees – infertile collectivists who believe that the rights of the individual should be forfeited for the good of group.

Video: Infiltration and Alinskyite Subversion Inside the American Catholic Church.

This mind blowing investigative  report from RCTV’s “C.I.A.”: CCHD & Saul Alinsky exposes how for 40 years, the Catholic church has allowed itself to become a giant useful idiot for Saul Alinsky’s radical, Marxist, and patently unchristian agenda.

This explains so much:

Part One:

Part Two:

Part Three:

Parts 4 and 5 can be viewed at New Zeal.

The tragic result of all this is that Catholics have been leaving the Church in droves, not because of their lack of faith, but because they feel the Church has left them.

Michael Voris’ concluding quote; “This is insidious, it’s evil, and it needs to stop”, should be heeded by conservative Catholics, everywhere. It’s way past time to cut loose the CCHD, and weed out the radicals who have been gnawing away at the Church like termites for far too long.

Park51: The Cordoba Initiative’s Snarky and Dismissive Twitter Feed

Park 51 is purportedly the Twitter account for the Cordoba Initiative (ground zero mosque), which aims to promote “understanding and interfaith dialog”.

Yesterday, Haaretz reported:

Sources in New York said on Monday that Muslim religious and business leaders will announce plans to abandon the project in the next few days.

New York Governor David Patterson said last weekend that Muslim leaders had rejected outright his proposal tto swap the site in for another in Manhattan.

But several people familiar with the debate among New York’s Islamic activists now claim that the leaders are convinced abandoning the site is preferable to unleashing a wave of bitterness towards Muslims.

They also hope the move will be seen as a show of sensitivity to families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks, and to the  American public generally.

It didn’t take long for GZ mosque organizers, (Park51), to push back against those claims on twitter:

Official: Reports by Haaretz are completely false. We are committed to plans of building Park 51 to serve the community of Lower Manhattan.

Park51 then took the opportunity to snark:

Screenshot via Atlas Shrugs

Which seems amazingly Jew-baitish for someone trying to build bridges and promote “interfaith dialog”…

That tweet was deleted, as was one in which he insulted the Amish…yes, the Amish (something about churning butter),  prompting  Cuffperfunction to exclaim: @Park51 What. The. F*ck? Snarking on the AMISH? Dude, you should be fired immediately.

Cuffy, and other Twitterers are beginning to wonder if  the Park51 account is even authentic.

Jim Nolte of Big Hollywood tweeted:

Ask @Park51 position on Hezbollah, 9/11 atrocity, & Israel — they respond with dismissive snark. Most revealing answer there is.

True, it seems from my own perusal of  Park51′s tweets, he does not answer questions related to Islamic extremism, including the  question, “Does Israel have a right to exist?”

He did find time to retweet a story about a Jewish woman throwing a temper tantrum at a Starbucks over a bagel, however: In today’s bagel (Jewish?) news, woman gets thrown out of Starbucks for not ordering bagel properly. http://bit.ly/bagelorder

Park 51 also tweeted: we’re persevering – making American Muslims better understood is the first step in defusing extremism everywhere.

Does making Muslims better understood have to involve so much dismissive, and disrespectful snark?

I don’t know the owners of the building that will be Park51, but if their spokesman on twitter is any indication of who they are, then I am even more uncomfortable with the Mosque being built there.

Just a thought:

It looks to me like the man behind the tweets of Park51 is employing a combination of taqiyya, and Alinsky’s rule #5.

Beware The Stock Market Hindenburg Omen

The Hindenburg Omen is is a technical indicator that foreshadows  a stock-market crash. The WSJ reports that its creator, a blind mathematician named Jim Miekka, is saying his indicator is now predicting a market meltdown in September.

Wall Street has been abuzz about whether the Hindenburg Omen will come to bear, with some traders cautioning clients about the indicator and blogs pondering all the doom and gloom. But Andrew Brenner, managing director at Guggenheim Securities, told his clients: “Personally, it sounds like [people] are starting their weekend drinking early.”

Technical indicators, with names like “The Death Cross” and “The Bearish Abandoned Baby” have been attracting mainstream attention in recent months. Amid an increasingly volatile market, investors have been searching for any clues about stocks’ direction, especially this past week where major indexes fell more than 3%.

***

The confluence of data used by the Omen was officially tripped this week. There were 92 companies that hit new 52-week highs on Thursday, or 2.9% of all companies traded on the New York Stock Exchange. There were also 81 new lows, or 2.6% of the total. Each number must exceed 2.5% for the Omen to occur, according to Mr. Miekka.

Other criteria include a rising 10-week moving average for NYSE and a negative McClellan Oscillator, a technical indicator that measures market fluctuations. Mr. Miekka said the appearance of one signal is usually an indication of a market top, but the Omen becomes more accurate when there are two or more close together.

The Omen was behind every market crash since 1987, but also has occurred many other times without an ensuing significant downturn. Market analysts said only about 25% of Omen appearances have led to stock-market declines that can be considered crashes.

“The Hindenburg Omen does show some deteriorating internals, which signals some major concerns,” said Ryan Detrick, senior technical strategist at Schaeffer’s Investment Research. “But it isn’t a reason to move to 100% in cash. We’re taking a wait-and-see approach, but considering its recent history, we’re considering it more than other indicators.”

See also Tim Cavanaugh at Reason Magazine: Doom. Doom! DOOM!!!

What does all that mean? The formidable L.A. libertarian pundit Marko Budgyk explains:

[Mathematician Jim] Miekka came up with the Omen in 1995 as a way to predict big market downturns, developing a formula that parses data like 52-week New Highs and Lows and the moving averages of the New York Stock Exchange.  He said the HO’s name was coined by a fellow market technician, Kennedy Gammage, when they found out the name “Titanic” already had been taken.

Miekka.

The Omen was behind every market crash since 1987, but also has occurred many other times without an ensuing significant downturn.  Market analysts said only about 25% of Omen appearances have led to stock market declines that can be considered crashes.

Even the experts, however, aren’t in agreement.  Robert McHugh believes that we have had one HO, which occurred on August 12th.  He maintains that the HO is NOT confirmed.  And, from McHugh’s work, the trigger is 2.2% New Highs and New Lows, not the 2.5% that Miekka believes.

Apparently the Hindenburgh omen is not all it’s cracked up to be.

Darryl Issa Blasts Obama Administration For “Extensive Propaganda” In New Report

The report alleges that “Under one-party rule in 2009, the White House used the machinery of the Obama campaign to tout the President’s agenda through inappropriate and sometimes unlawful public relations and propaganda initiatives.”

The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s exhaustive  report contains enough information to warrant an official investigation, but Dems are likely to block that request so close to an election that already looks grim for corruptocrats. After the political tsunami that is in store for them in November, however, Issa will  have subpoena power, and will be able to look into the 11 separate episodes where the report says the Obama administration abused taxpayer resources and, in some cases, violated federal law. The Daily Caller reports:

Those include well-known flash points like expensive road signs touting economic  progress under the economic stimulus law and an attempt in the early months of the administration to coordinate taxpayer-funded art to boost the president’s legislative priorities. (Michelle Malkin has covered the tax subsidized Porkulus signs, extensively – ed).

But it also includes a number of lesser-known episodes including a government-funded online web form allowing users to urge members of Congress to pass health care legislation and the shady online practices of a Justice Department spokeswoman.

One of the Obama administration’s more expensive “propaganda” efforts, according to the report, was a television commercial boosting the then-newly passed health care law. The advertisement features 84-year-old television star Andy Griffith and was designed to sell senior citizens, whom polls show are particularly opposed to ObamaCare, on the “good things [that] are coming” in the law.

“Free check ups, lower prescription costs, and better ways to protect us and Medicare from fraud . . . I think you’re gonna like it,” Griffith said in the ad. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the federal agency responsible for implementing the health care law, paid $700,000 for the commercial, the Issa report says.

Faced with controversy regarding the advertisement over the summer, an administration spokeswoman said it was necessary to ensure “seniors have the information they need.” The administration ended up yanking the ad, though.

Issa in the report charges that the advertisement was “purely partisan in nature” and thus violates federal law.

Another important instance cited by Issa’s report regarding the health care bill involves Jonathan Gruber, a noted health care expert who was revealed to be making hundreds of thousands of dollars from government contracts during the period he was authoring editorials in favor of the health care law and being cited by journalists for his health care expertise.

Gruber was paid by nearly $300,000 by HHS for “technical assistance” as a consultant on estimating the economic impact of the health care law. Gruber did not disclose his government contracts when discussing the health care law with numerous journalists. Articles that relied on Gruber’s testimony and were favorable to the health care law were promoted vigorously by the president himself.

***
Another episode cataloged by the Issa report involves a Justice Department spokeswoman, Tracy Russo, who reportedly surreptitiously authored comments on blogs, online forums and other online media. The Issa report notes that in repeated instances, the Government Accountability Office has ruled that failure to disclose the hand of the government behind public communications constitutes “covert propaganda” and is unlawful.
Remember Ellie Light?

Issa also specified repeated efforts by the Obama White House  to transform the federal  bureaucracy into the propaganda arm of the Obama White House.

More from the report, excerpted at Hot Air:

On the morning of April 24, 2009, U.S. Department of Education (DoEd) Deputy Assistant Secretary for External Affairs and Outreach Massie Ritsch distributed an e-mail to colleagues notifying them of President Obama’s intention to promote his Direct Loan student financial aid program during a meeting later that day. Ritsch explained the rationale for the President’s timing by noting that Congress was beginning to work to resolve differences between House and Senate versions of the Fiscal Year 2010 Concurrent Budget Resolution.

The stated purpose of the e-mail was to help recipients “communicate the merits of the President’s proposal with your members and other audiences….” To help recipients do so, Ritsch attached a two-page white paper to the body of the e-mail message. The document included promotional information highlighting DoEd’s reasons for supporting the President’s plan.

***

In March 2010, media reports surfaced that revealed White House Office for Health Reform Director Nancy-Ann DeParle sent overtly partisan, unsolicited health reform e-mails to career civil servants in Executive Branch agencies. The DeParle e-mails were not transmitted by the ordinary official White House staff e-mail handle “who.eop.gov” but through the mass mailing handle “messages.whitehouse.gov.”

At least three emails were objectionable: 1) an e-mail dated March 11, 2010 that begins with the line: “625 – that’s the number who lost health insurance every hour in 2009;” 2) an e-mail dated March 12, 2010 railing against the perils of “do[ing] nothing to reform our broken health care system;” and 3) a March 16, 2010, e-mail subject line: “There but for the grace of God go any one of us.”66

***

The worst abuse of propaganda is directly connected to the White House. BarackObama.com, run by the Democratic National Committee, has been featured during the president’s speeches. It has been used by the administration and the DNC as a mechanism to lobby Congress, again apparently illegally, and to use the president’s high profile to solicit funds for the DNC as part of what has been mocked by some as the president’s “permanent campaign.” Additional efforts by First Lady Michelle Obama, detailed in the report’s reporting on the “iParticipate” initiative, find that the administration skirted the Hatch Act and and federal anti-lobbying laws by using Mrs. Obama to support the presidents social and health care agendas with $240 million worth of free advertising.

Also highlighted is the administration’s shocking use of the National Endowment For The Arts as a propaganda tool, an effort that was exposed last year by Breitbart’s Big Hollywood.

The report states:

On August 6, 2009, on behalf of the White House Office of Public Engagement, National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)32 Communications Director Yosi Sergant
invited a group of “artists, producers, promoters, organizers, influencers, marketers, tastemakers, leaders, or just plain cool people” to participate in a conference call.
The specific purpose of the call was to allow the White House Office of Public Engagement to encourage the art community’s involvement in the President’s United We Serve program. United We Serve is designed to support four key components of the President’s recovery agenda through national service – health care, energy independence, education and community and economic renewal. The call took place on August 10, 2009. Participants were informed that the call was
part of an effort to engage the art and entertainment community in a “brand new conversation … to really bring this community together to speak with the
government.” In addition to Sergant, call participants heard from Nell Abernathy, Director of Outreach for United We Serve, and Buffy Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement.36 In their official capacities as representatives of agencies of the United States government and of the White House itself, Abernathy
and Wicks urged approximately 75 members of the art and entertainment community to promote the President’s agenda by creating art consistent with the goals of United
We Serve.

What made the administration think it could get away with all these abuses?

Things are going to get very interesting next year.

North Attleboro Republican Committee Member Asks Suspected Fake R Candidate, Marty Lamb (MA-3) To Step Down

A couple of weeks ago, I alerted readers to a suspected fake ” tea-party” candidate, Marty Lamb  in MA-3.

This devastating audio from his appearance on The Howie Carr Show gave Massachusetts tea partiers good reason to doubt  his conservative bonafides:

Sunday, North Attleboro Republican Town Committee member, James Lang, wrote an oped in The Sun Chronicle, asking Lamb to step down for the good of the party:

Ex-Democrat poor choice for Congress A Republican is a Republican is a Republican, not a duck that quacks, not a wolf in sheep skin, but a Republican! And some of us have been for a very, very long time with pride.

It seems that Martin Lamb, Republican candidate for Congress in the third district, switched from the Democrat to the Republican Party only last fall and has contributed in the recent past to the campaign of Rep. Ed Markey (in 2004) among three other very liberal Democrats.

It is difficult to see how Mr. Lamb can maintain credibility as a conservative at this point.

A look at Lamb’s speeches and writings provides no evidence showing his actual thought process to support Mr. Lamb’s claim of having “seen the light,” as he now claims. His bulging learning curve is rather thin on specifics. This does not necessarily mean Mr. Lamb has not undergone a “conversion” to conservatism as he claims. Conservative voters searching desperately for an alternative to Rep. James McGovern this fall have little reason to risk that Mr. Lamb’s philosophical conversion isn’t, in fact, merely an opportunistic career conversion. As a dyed in the wool Republican, I appreciate Marty’s effort; however, Mr. Lamb would best serve the conservative movement, to which he claims to belong, by withdrawing immediately from the race.

James Lang, North Attleboro

Let’s hope he takes Mr. Lang’s advice. There are better candidates out there, with longer Republican resumes, including, true blue conservative, Mike Stopa.

Stopa’s views on the ground zero mosque, here.

Ten Buck Fridays: August 15 – 20

Another week, another chance to push back against the Socialist vermin  infecting the body politic. Which candidate in the poll on my right sidebar needs our help the most? You are encouraged to make a $10 donation to the winner on Friday. Here’s how it works:

Each week, TBF participants are strongly encouraged (but not required) to rally behind the deserving conservative Republican who wins the poll…to provide that candidate with a substantial money bomb.

You’ll notice there’s no middleman in this process. Your money goes exactly where you want it to go. Contributors send their investment directly to the candidates.

Participants put the words “Ten Buck Fridays” in the online donation form so that recipients know what’s happening and so that donation totals can be determined. As Lilac Sunday has noted, the “occupation” line on the online donation form is a handy place to indicate that you’re a Ten Buck Fridays participant.

Center For American Progress Defends Obama’s Endorsement Of GZ Mosque

The spawning ground for Obama’s policies, aka his “idea factory”, the Center for American Progress (CAP) offers a “full throated defense” of Obama’s endorsement of the ground Zero mosque, which is pretty funny because they’re probably the ones who put him to do it.

Weasel Zippers, excerpting from The Politico:

The Center for American Progress, one of Washington’s most muscular groups on the left, on Saturday issued a full-throated defense of President Barack Obama’s controversial endorsement of a mosque near Ground Zero.

“We understand the raw emotions triggered by memories of September 11, but we are not at our strongest when we are fearful,” the group said in a statement. “We support building this mosque.”

John Podesta, former chief of staff to President Bill Clinton and co-chairman of Obama’s presidential transition, is the group’s president and CEO.

“STATEMENT: CAP Supports Building of Mosque Near Ground Zero,” the group said in a release e-mailed Saturday afternoon.

Here’s the text:

“The United States is at its strongest when Americans have the courage to stand up for the values that make this country great. President Obama is upholding the best traditions of our Constitution in supporting the right of Muslim Americans to build a mosque and community center on private property near Ground Zero.

“September 11th has left deep scars on Manhattan and the United States. The family and friends of the 3,000 who perished have suffered the most, yet all Americans share in the pain of that fateful day. Ground Zero is hallowed ground and will forever live in our hearts. But it is wrong to believe that we honor the victims by rejecting the values they cherished while succumbing to the very fear and hatred their murderers were trying to provoke.

Gee, all the same stupid bullet points from Obama’s speech:

“Deep scars”, “families suffered”, “hallowed ground” etc. etc. etc…..BUT. And then, you know the drill: “Muslim Americans have the right…”, “honor the victims”, “cherished values”…

Like  these commies share any of our values.

Take a good look at what the front page of the CAP website, you’ll see it currently features:

Idea of the Day: Conduct More Research and Collect More Data on Gay and Transgender Youth Homelessness

Because  American taxpayers aren’t already on the hook  enough for outrageous progressive research, already. Thanks but no thanks for the….idea.

Blog Watch on Their “Progress Report Page”(where Journolistas get their talking points) links to this: Limited liability hedonism, (no link, ew) a “full throated” defense of young women, hooking up:

Turning conventional wisdom (and severely blown media panic) on its head, the three authors/sociologists argue that “hooking up” isn’t nearly as pervasive or dangerous as we might think. As usual, it’s the Baby Boomers who are blowing things out of proportion by wanting to restrict the freedoms they enjoyed for their own children.

Because truly enlightened parents want their kids to make all the same mistakes they made.

Under “Think Fast”, they gush:

And finally: Guess which Senator is holding a fundraiser at Lady Gaga’s concert next month? 86-year old Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ). “The senator is a big fan, it turns out. He and his wife, Bonnie, celebrated his 86th birthday in January at a Gaga show at Radio City Music Hall in New York.”

Because….I don’t know….blech.

Every time I hear a lefty try to speak to our “shared American values”, I throw up in my mouth. We don’t share any values with you freaks, okay?

See also iOWNTHEWORLD, who notes the embarrassing results of jumping on the ObamWagon too quickly: Journolister Greg Sargent Gets Humiliated

And Melissa Clouthier at Liberty Pundits has more lefty dronage on the Ground Zero Mosque: Journolister Ben Smith Spews B.S.: Smears GOP As Anti-Islam:

Americans respect religious freedom, but unlike stupid DC bubble boys, they recognize that we’re at war with an ideology that is murderous, hate-filled and grounded in ISLAM. It is not like the guys who blew up the World Trade Center lived in a world devoid of ideology. They had beliefs that animated and motivated them.

And we are still at war.

Likewise, the Ground Zero Mosque builders also have an ideology and beliefs that animate their words and actions. It is not like this building has no meaning to them. And because the building means something to them, it matters to freedom-loving Americans. You do not hand an enemy a victory out of some blind devotion to an ideal the enemy not only does not believe, but hates and would destroy if the enemy was successful.

Those building the mosque do not believe in religious freedom. They believe in submission or die. Because they are the minority in a very tolerant majority, their influence does not carry much weight IN AMERICA. But it is naive at best, and willfully obtuse and destructive, at worst, to ignore the impact the Ground Zero Mosque would have to the psychology of Muslim extremists around the world.

Another value we don’t share – We believe in fighting evil. They believe in fighting….us…

Like Mike says:

For Democrat Socialists, Muslims are their BFFs, and Xtians are the enemy. Why, just look at all the awful things Christians did several hundred years ago, for God’s sake. Plus, they want to take away A WOMAN’S RIGHT TO CHOOSE, see — the most fundamental, sacrosanct right there is, as enshrined in every single line of the Constitution, which is utterly inviolable and concrete when it suits liberals for it to be.

So all in all, that makes Xtians far, far, far worse, and a more dangerous threat than Muslims could ever be; after all, Muslims merely want to hack off heads, fly planes into buildings, blow up pizza parlors full of people, kill all the Joooz, implement sharia all over the world, and…uhhh, subjugate women to compensate for male sexual insecurity and dysfunction.

Any questions?

Palin on Ground Zero Mosque: “Should They Or Shouldn’t They, Mr. President?…This Is Not Above Your Pay Grade”

Sarahcuda, as usual, cuts to the chase on her Facebook page:

Mr. President, should they or should they not build a mosque steps away from where radical Islamists killed 3000 people? Please tell us your position. We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they? And, no, this is not above your pay grade.

Oh no she didn’t!

If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive “cross-cultural engagement” and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven’t they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite? Mr. President, why aren’t you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson’s generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven’t they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as “hallowed ground”? I believe these are legitimate questions to ask.

We already know the answer:

Aides to Mr. Obama say privately that he has always felt strongly about the proposed community center and mosque, but the White House did not want to weigh in until local authorities made a decision on the proposal

Those of us who noticed the snide tone of his voice when he said the words, “As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country,”  know the the answer.

Those of us who remember that the President almost banned the White House nativity scene, last Christmas, know the answer.

Those of us who remember that Obama ended the practice of a National Day of Prayer ceremony in the White House, know the answer.

Those of us who remember how Obama had the cross and the Jesuit monogram, IHS  covered when he spoke at Georgetown University, know the answer.

We few…we proud…we who still bitterly cling…know the answer.

The  question is…will the President answer it honestly, or at all?

Useful Idiots

Ace linked to some great Saturday listening material: “Useful Idiots,” A Documentary on BBC Radio

This is hard hitting stuff — the BBC is state owned and yet they produce this.

Compare to the American media — not paid by the government, but owned even harder.

BTW, contains the quote “something so stupid only an intellectual could believe it.”

Direct mp3 Downloads: Part 1 and Part 2.

How do we define “useful idiot”?

Historian, Donald Rayfield: “It’s someone who doesn’t think they’re an idiot – who thinks they’re highly intelligent, but is so easily persuaded by flattery by people in power, that they’re prepared to serve their purposes, and allow themselves to be duped, or even just to lie for the sake of advantage.”

Journalist, Bruce Anderson: “Intellectuals have a terrible tendency to adjust the evidence to fit their preconceptions. If they decide they want to believe in something, they will believe in it…if the evidence is ‘oh, you’re wrong’, they’ll hit the evidence on the head until it shuts up.” (“Shut up, he said”.)

So what does this have to do with Matthew Yglesias, (pictured above), whom Doug Ross likes to call, “The world’s dumbest blogger”? (Although, he surely thinks of himself as an intellectual).

A Twitter exchange between Yglesias and Washington Examiner writer, Mark Hemingway illustrates very nicely how the useful idiot will “lie for the sake of advantage.” as Daily Caller reported:

Liberal blogger Matt Yglesias likes to call his political opponents “dishonest,” but in a revealing exchange on the website Twitter Friday he advocated lying for political purposes.

“Fighting dishonesty with dishonesty is sometimes the right thing for advocates to do, yes,” said Yglesias.

The exchange, with Washington Examiner writer Mark Hemingway, came on the heels of a debate between the two on transportation policy.

Please note, that most libs will characterize any argument  they disagree with as “dishonest”.

Yglesias dug in, saying lying was a necessary part of politics.

Yglesias’s Twitter opponents also charged he does not take criticism well.

“When [Yglesias] gets frustrated because he can’t counter an argument, he calls people ‘dishonest’,” Lake said, later calling him “a child.”

In concluding his interview with The Daily Caller, Yglesias said “go fuck yourself” and hung up the phone.

Now that’s idiotic.
UPDATE:

BFH informs me that he too, has taken to calling Yglesias The dumbest blogger on the internet.

Okay, but who was first?

Insult To Injury

Up until now, I haven’t really let go with a full commentary on the Ground Zero Mosque, although I have commented here and there about it.  But with the President’s misleading remarks about it at the White House Ramadan Iftar last night, any doubt that it is a national issue have been erased.

September 11, 2001.

Four domestic airliners are hijacked by acolytes of the Religion Of Peace, and true to their religion, they turn them into weapons.  One crashes into the Pentagon, one ends up making a wreckage strewn hole in the Pennsylvania countryside, and the remaining two each crash into one of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in Manhattan.   These last two are the ones that cause a nation to hold its breath, until the towers fall, dispatching 3000+ souls in mere moments, including scores of heroic first responders, and spreading a cloud of dust and ash over most of the island, while a nation watched the tragedy unfold through its tears on television broadcasts from coast-to-coast.

This is what murder on a grand scale looks like.
A Cloud for the Dead
The Consecration Of Hallowed Ground

A Legacy Of Destruction

It was a galvanizing event. A moment when Americans volunteered their blood, their money, and for some, their lives. All to assist in recovery after the first attack on American soil in 60 years. And now, almost 10 years later, there still is no memorial to those who died there.  And on an island where there are 30 mosques already, an Islamic group believes that it is imperative for them to build a 13 story mosque less than a block from one of the most stunning examples of their faith in action for the purpose of “building bridges”.   This imperative, aside from being an affront to good taste, overrides the sensitivities of the families of those who died there, and resists the offer of the governor to obtain for them a suitable location elsewhere.

City officials, eager to deflect the criticism of a righteously outraged public, claim that nothing can be done…something that anyone who has contended with zoning boards across the country knows to be untrue.  The muslims themselves continue to preach on tolerance, understanding, and sensitivity, while demonstrating that they only expect that to work one way…their way, as Greg Gutfeld so ingeniously demonstrated. The usual suspects acted on their typical M.O., dodging the real issue by pretending not to have an opinion, or like my friend Rutherford, playing coy by saying that it isn’t appropriate to place the mosque in the graveyard, but how close is too close?  And all the while, the one person in the office with the gravitas to craft an acceptable compromise remained silent, too distracted by fund-raisers, his golf game, and a never-ending series of vacations to intervene in a matter that called for his intervention.

Until yesterday. The President’s remarks at a Ramadan Iftar held at the White House: Recently, attention has been focused on the construction of mosques in certain communities – particularly in New York. Now, we must all recognize and respect the sensitivities surrounding the development of lower Manhattan. The 9/11 attacks were a deeply traumatic event for our country. The pain and suffering experienced by those who lost loved ones is unimaginable. So I understand the emotions that this issue engenders. Ground Zero is, indeed, hallowed ground.

But let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable. The principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country, and will not be treated differently by their government, is essential to who we are. The writ of our Founders must endure.

This is what happens when a leader fails to be a statesman, and simply remains a lawyer.  It isn’t about freedom of religion.  Governor Patterson’s offer of assistance in obtaining another site should be ample proof of that, if indeed the other 30 mosques on the island are not.  And it isn’t about what is legal.  That was never the question.  The question is, and remains “What is right?”. By spinning the issue into what it is not, the President dishonors the dead, and insults the living.

Never one to resist the chance to lecture to those he holds in contempt, or to miss an opportunity to damn Americans by implication, he wraps himself in a document that he earlier condemned as flawed, and implies that we are the hypocrites for not wanting a religion soaked in blood to hoist a banner atop the site of its greatest contemporary triumph, willfully turning a blind eye to the rank hypocrisy demonstrated by the backers of the mosque earlier this week.

It would be easy to dismiss this as another example of how 52% of the electorate chose a very small man to fill very large shoes in November of 2008.  It would be easy to point to this and say that once again he missed the opportunity to represent all the American people.  It would be easy to say that he opted for what was easy, to turn the argument to the law, and then boldly stand behind it, wagging his finger at the unwashed hoi poli who can see the real issue very plainly.  I’m no longer convinced that these things are correct.  I think that he decided a long time ago that the courageous play was to stand against America.  Whether it is a contempt for those who are “bitterly clinging to their Bibles and guns” or the assertion that Americans can no longer live the way they have been, or his disdain for American Exceptionalism, his eagerness to “fundamentally transform America”, or the need to constantly apologize for us while travelling.

The legal excuse is merely a pretext.  A means to diffuse criticism while allowing those who have no love for us to put their finger in our eye.  If the law mattered, then our tax dollars would not be refurbishing and building mosques overseas, because that would be indefensible here.  To do it elsewhere is unthinkable.  If the law mattered to him, this would not be occurring.

Our submission to a faith foreign to this people is already under way.  It is being facilitated by the government, largely without your knowledge, and without your consent.  The Ground Zero Mosque is merely a provocation, a test of your awareness, and your resolve to resist the rule of outsiders.   Our willingness to be lectured to about tolerance and sensitivity by people who have no interest in reciprocating that which they would shame you into is all the warning you should need.  Changing the narrative about the real issue is merely another act of a surly teenager who continues to hand Mom and Dad’s valuables out the back door to waiting thieves, in an act of contempt and revenge.

Oh, and Rutherford?  You asked “How Close Is Too Close?”

Look at the pictures from that day.  Look at the reach of that dust cloud…that dust that was all that remained of two skyscrapers containing 3000+ people.  Any place that dust reached is the resting place of people killed in the name of Islam, and they don’t deserve the insult of a mosque and calls to prayer over them, now or ever.
