At one point I wrote:

The  MSM are covering the Obama Ayers connection thus: Obama and Ayers were just  a couple of guys who ran into each other occasionally, served on a board together, and lived in the same neighborhood. They are all careful to mention that Obama has condemned Ayers’ despicable acts that occurred when Obama was only eight years old.

In other words, they are pretty much parroting the Obama campaign’s talking points.

The McCain campaign really needs to put out an ad that is specific and detailed, beyond making allegations. They should be in contact with Stanley Kurtz for help with this.

Well, you know how this story turned out: The MSM ran cover for Obama to the bitter end.  The McCain campaign epically failed to go over the heads of the media and give the American people the information they needed to make a responsible decision at the ballot box. Sarah Palin tried to warn voters as much as she could, but she was muzzled by the McCain campaign from saying too much.

Why? Were they afraid of being called racists? Were they afraid of being called red-baiters? Look how much we’re paying for their cowardice, now.

I’ll never understand why Republicans didn’t put out ads that connected the dots and guided voters to where they could find more information. The independents who are recoiling now, could have been reached. Eh…. but I digress.

Stanley Kurtz has been spending the past couple of years researching Obama’s background, and filling in the blanks. His new book, Radical-in-Chief: Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism is the result of his efforts.

In this excerpt at NRO, Kurtz details Obama’s involvement with a little-known Chicago training institute for community organizers, the Midwest Academy, which he believes is the  the key to  Obama’s political rise.

Officials from the Midwest Academy network trained Obama, supplied him with funds, and got him appointed head of Illinois Project Vote. Years later, Obama sent foundation money to the Midwest Academy. Barack and Michelle Obama ran a project called “Public Allies” that was effectively an extension of the Midwest Academy. Alice Palmer, the Illinois state senator who chose Obama as her successor, was once a high official in the Midwest Academy network. Several Midwest Academy leaders advised Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Academy founder Heather Booth is now a key figure in coordinating grassroots support for the president’s budget, health-care, and financial-reform plans.

The leaders of the Midwest Academy were eager to avoid public exposure of their socialism. Yet they trusted Obama enough to put him on the board of their satellite organization, Chicago Public Allies, and to succeed one of their own as state senator.

As I detail at length in Radical-in-Chief, deceptions and glaring omissions about his radical past reach far beyond Obama’s involvement with the Socialist Scholars conferences and the Midwest Academy. Archival documents reveal that Obama lied during the 2008 campaign about his ties to ACORN. New evidence confirms that Obama has hidden the truth about his relationships to Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers. The unknown story of Obama’s deep involvement with a radical group called UNO of Chicago is revealed. The claims of candidate Obama and his mentors that he shunned Saul Alinsky’s confrontational tactics turn out to be a sugary fairy tale. The obfuscating techniques of Obama’s memoir, Dreams from My Father, are exposed.

The pattern of misdirection upon which President Obama’s political career has been built has its roots in the socialist background of community organizing. ACORN, Reverend Wright, and Bill Ayers were all routes into that hidden socialist world, and that is why Obama has had to obscure the truth about these and other elements of his past. More important, the president’s socialist past is still very much alive in the governing philosophy and long-term political strategy of the Obama administration.

Obama is not going to “triangulate”.  He’s not going to mellow out… he’s not going to give up. The guy is a true believer. A red diaper baby who knows nothing else but the Marxism he was spoon-fed from an early age.

Republicans are riding a wave of massive voter disgust with Obama and his enablers in Congress.

The editorial board of the Kansas City Star met with Jacob Turk on Wednesday morning to hear his stand on the issues.

U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver is one of those rare Democratic politicians who doesn’t have to worry about getting re-elected, even in this year of the angry, anti-incumbent voter.

Why do you guys keep saying “anti-incumbent?” Angry, yes. Anti-incumbent, no. Anti- LIBERAL incumbent. Let’s call it what it is, please. People are upset with big government, out of control spending, and that’s gonna mean curtains for a lot of liberal incumbents but virtually no conservative ones.

Turk’s campaign today says it will release a Rasmussen poll showing that Turk trails Cleaver, 52-43, with a 5 percent margin of error.

Sure, that’s not close to being enough for a winning margin for Turk. Still, it’s a lot better than the 65-35 margin Cleaver chalked up in the 2008 campaign.

I believe they said a 6-9 point spread, but I haven’t seen the numbers, yet.

In his appearance before The Star’s Editorial Board, Turk rolled out the same GOP talking points that seem to be working in races across the country: Yes to keeping the Bush tax cuts, no to the health care reform act.

Hold it right there…”GOP talking points”, really Yael?  Turk, a guy who refuses to take PAC money,  a guy who hasn’t received a dime from the Republican party, a guy who has differed with the party line on issues like Bush’s handing of the Iraq war, all of which he mentioned at the meeting….(yes, I was there), is just spouting “GOP talking points”, not his own heartfelt take on the issues? You weren’t impressed with his in depth answer to the  question, “what would you do on health care?”, which he knows something about because he’s worked in with the health ins. industry?* Vote for Jacob Turk, the “GOP Talking Point Guy”.

When it comes to local congressional GOP candidates, Turk didn’t distinguish himself with detailed and thoughtful answers to issues (as Kevin Yoder did; he’s running for the 3rd District seat in Kansas).

Were we at the same meeting? Maybe  I was impressed because I know practically nothing about local KC issues, but still. Someone asked what he thought of the KC “Green Zone”. As I remember, he panned it because the people within the zone and around the district are not seeing any jobs from it. He said it was great PR, but was not creating jobs. He based his answer on his conversations with people who live in the area. Jacob made a point of mentioning that he visits all parts of the Kansas City 5th District because he wants to represent the interests of us all.

How would Jacob Turk create jobs, they asked.

Well, Turk believes in providing a business friendly environment for job creation: providing low cost or no cost capital to budding entrepreneurs, so they can start businesses in the inner city where they’re most needed. He said the Cleaver approach has done nothing but put an enormous debt on our children and grandchildren, while keeping unemployment at 10% in Jackson County and over 40% in some parts of the District. He criticized the political leadership of Kansas City, including Cleaver for building ivory towers and making promises, while the neighborhoods are left to decay.

He shared a story about one of his black supporters who told him that even though he didn’t agree with him ideologically on all the issues, he saw Turk as a bridge between the urban and suburban communities so all of us in the 5th can come together to solve the problems of the urban core. Anyone who has met Jacob Turk can understand where that man is coming from.

I thought his answers were both thoughtful and detailed, without being overly wonkish.

Does Turk have an uphill battle? Definitely. But he’s within range, and this is a WAVE year.

Actually, I worked at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, NAIC, a quasi governmental body through which the state and territorial insurance commissioners worked together to regulate insurance companies of all types. The confusion may have come from me linking my employment at the NAIC to the knowledge I gained about the health care insurance business which have been a godsend for the current health care insurance reform debate. So never worked in the insurance industry but gained insight into how it works. 

I hope you will write about my deep conviction on ensuring our military men and women active and veterans are taken care of. They are people who deserve our respect and protection not political pawns which is how I see Cleaver treating them.

Point is, he was knowledgeable,  (unlike me).

One more thing. Jacob, a Marine vet spoke at length about his dedication to the military, and his stance on the war in Afghanistan, which Abouhalkah neglected to mention. He thinks we should be in it to win it, or bring them home.  He believes military folks deserve our respect and protection, and should not be used as political pawns, which is how he believes Cleaver is treating them.

Kelly Truth Squad Exposes The Depth Of Obama-Loyalty In Chicago Media

William Kelly is the radio host and blogger who was blocked and antagonized by local Chicago “journalists”  because he had the temerity to ask Rahm Emanuel some tough questions, a few days ago. If you haven’t seen the video yet, you can watch it at Big Journalism. There,  you can also read his version of the brouhaha.

I can’t think of any story I’ve seen that exposes the depth of bias and lap-doggery in the MSM more than this one does:

I’m a lifelong Chicagoan and grew up on the Southside, where Democrat machine politics is the norm and a way of life. In fact, I grew up two blocks from Louis Farrakhan’s house and, ironically, ran for the same congressional seat as Barack Obama did against Rep. Bobby Rush. We both lost. He eventually won… the Presidency.

Despite the political environment, or because of it, I am a conservative. I host a radio show called the Kelly Truth Squad on WIND-AM (560) in the Midwest. I also contribute to the “Big” blogs and to the Washington Times. Prior to this, I had been involved in anti-tax policy advocacy and activism since the early 1990s. As a result, I have taken numerous politicians to task with difficult questions the media hasn’t taken too kindly too. The upshot is that it isn’t easy being a conservative but it, especially, isn’t easy being a conservative in Chicago.

When I saw Emanuel, I approached him in a friendly manner. I even welcomed him back to Chicago. However, as soon as I tried to ask him about the stimulus, his press secretary ran interference and distracted me by asking me what radio station my show aired on. When I tried to ask him my question again, ABC political reporter Charles Thomas and CBS chief correspondent Jay Levine tried to prevent me from asking my question. They physically blocked me and tried to discourage Emanuel from taking me or my questions seriously.This is when things started to get antagonistic. I continued to ask questions and didn’t give in. It got heated. After being interrupted repeatedly by both reporters, CBS’ Jay Levine blew up and said he would “deck me.” What would have happened if the tables were turned and I told Levine that I was going to “deck him?” I would have been charged with assault and arrested on the spot. Why was Levine upset and so angry? I believe he wanted to give Emanuel the opportunity to give his campaign speech to camera without criticism or question. In my book, that isn’t what journalism is supposed to be. Thomas and Levine were both asking Emanuel easy questions – not questions intended to provoke a discussion of the real campaign issues or Emanuel’s track record.

Boehner Promises Vicky Hartzler a Seat on Armed Services Committee if She Wins

This is good news, because one of Ike Skelton’s favorite talking points has been that because he’s on the House Armed Services Committee,  ONLY HE can prevent base closings in MO-4.

Well, not so much….

An interesting item came out of a political forum here on Tuesday night.  It was an announcement  made by Republican Vicky Hartzler, a 4th Congressional District candidate.

“We’ve received news that Republican leader John Boehner has pledged, if we take the majority, that he will save a seat for me on the Armed Services Committee,” Hartzler said to cheers from some of the 400-plus spectators gathered at the senior center.

The National Republican Congressional Committee released a statement on Wednesday in which Boehner pledged to support a seat for Hartzler on the House Armed Services Committee.  That is noteworthy because her opponent, Democratic Congressman Ike Skelton, has made veterans issues a major focus of the campaign.

Skelton is chairman of the Armed Services Committee and Fort Leonard Wood next to St. Robert and Waynesville is in the 4th District, as is Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster.  Skelton has questioned Hartzler’s commitment to those in the Armed Forces.  She says she would be an advocate for the troops and would seek to expand the missions of Whiteman and Fort Wood.

Today is day 3 of the Hartzler campaign’s online fundraiser, and it’s also her birthday.

There’s no better way to say “Happy Birthday” than giving $20.10 to help our campaign to victory in 2010 !

Chamber of Commerce VP Tells Jake Tapper: WH Wants Our Donor Lists So Its Allies Can Intimidate Our Donors

Tuesday afternoon, Jake Tapper interviewed  Bruce Josten, the Executive Vice President for government affairs at the US Chamber of Commerce, about the White House/ Chamber conflict. The Chamber refuses  to release its donors list, which  the Obama administration is demanding, using serial fabulist Lee Fang’s ThinkProgress report as their guide. The charge is that the Chamber has been receiving  foreign money for its political ads.

TAPPER: Last night, in a Wisconsin senate debate, the republican Ron Johnson who is backed by a lot of the Tea Party forces, certainly no friend to the Obama administration said that he thought that the Chamber should disclose. Does it bother you at all that your losing the arguments when you hear republicans like Ron Johnson say things like that?

JOSTEN: No, it does not bother me at all, it does not convince me that I am losing the argument. What it does it convince me that the attempts of this administration to try and push people that we have endorsed, or we are supporting, on their heels to be defensive over a flap that they’ve contrived out of foreign money on a liberal blog financed in terms of start-up by a guy by the name George Soros, got into the mainstream media, and  the mainstream media has by and large rejected it, quite appropriately, so no it doesn’t bother me.

TAPPER: Are you worried at all that this is damaging the reputation of the Chamber?

JOSTEN: Well so far, we don’t have any proof that it has done that, it has certainly upped the profile of the Chamber. So I suspect and I hope that people are paying even more attention to the ads that we have up in this cycle, as the president is drawing more and more attention to us.

And specifically since we’re the only group out there talking about issues, unlike the administration or the democrats running, I hope that the American people are drawn to pay attention to our issues.

A year ago when we ran issue ads across this country, hundreds of them, against the patients protection and affordable care act, citing the CBO report, citing the Center for Medicare Studies–Services report, the companies that got divulged publicly were harassed, were intimidated.

TAPPER:  How?

JOSTEN: The outside allies of this administration, the SEIU, the AFL-CIO, HCANN – Health Care Action Now network and Moveon.org, all combined and coordinated protests at those companies, at the CEOs’ homes in some cases, as they did here with us. And they began a proxy campaign, through outside groups, the Center for Political Accountability, and another group, Walden Asset Management. This is a game, ok? And they like to play that game out. So it’s clear that the game here is to harass and intimidate.

When I cited what took place in California, there is a gentleman who has done research for the Institute for Justice in California, on Prop 8 and what happened with the CA marriage protection act, when personal information about those donors to support Prop 8 was posted on the internet.

It led to death threats. It led to physical violence, vandalism and economic reprisals from against those people and their homes. So we know, how the public, if outed in supporting some controversial causes, if you will, we know what happens. We know what happens to our people.

Michael Barone had it right when he coined the term, “gangster government” for the Obama administration.  I don’t know who started the term, “thugocracy”, (Michelle Malkin?) but that comes to mind, as well.

Remember this episode?:

A couple of weeks ago, Barack Obama told Wall Street that he, personally *he*, was all that stood between them and pitchforks. Well, Obama’s SEIU buddies decided to break out the pitchforks.

500 SEIU goons showed up on the front porch of a house belonging to a Bank of America Executive. The man’s 14 year old son was home alone and, fearing for his life, barricaded himself into a bathroom.

This comes a few years after MoveOn.org groupies did the same to Karl Rove’s house. Only that time they brought the media in tow.

Here is what is so stark and troubling about this incident: the media was not invited. The SEIU brought along a Huffington Post blogger to shoot some propaganda, but otherwise the media was not invited. Why not? Because this was an act of sheer intimidation. It wasn’t a publicity stunt. Had a journalist, Nina Easton, not lived next door we may never have known this happened.

This kind of stuff is not supposed to happen in America.

Rove-backed group raised $13M since attacks from Obama

The GOP-aligned American Crossroads said Wednesday it has raised over $13 million since coming under attack from President Obama.

The group and its campaign affiliate, Crossroads GPS, said it had easily surpassed its initial fundraising goal of $50 million to spend on behalf of Republicans, and has increased its target to $65 million, according to spokesman Jonathan Collegio.

The boffo numbers come after a week in which Obama led Democrats in attacks on the group, which is affiliated with GOP strategists Ed Gillespie and Karl Rove. Both are veterans of President George W. Bush’s White House.

Obama accused American Crossroads and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of possibly receiving money from foreign donors and corporations to fund their electoral activities, a charge the groups deny.

Great News For Ruth McClung

Michael Barone is amazed that McClung could be leading in the heavily Hispanic AZ -7 race :

Here’s a poll (by a firm unknown to me) showing Republican challenger Ruth McClung leading four–term Democratic incumbent Raul Grijalva 39%-37% in Arizona 7. This district was designed to be Arizona’s second Hispanic majority House district (it was 54% Hispanic in 2000) and to be safe Democratic (it voted 57%-42% for Barack Obama in 2008 and 57%-43% for John Kerry in 2004). So it would be amazing if rocket scientist McClung (yes, apparently she actually is a rocket scientist) won here.

What’s interesting here is that Grijalva has supported the tourist boycott of Arizona in retaliation for the passage of Senate Bill 1070 which he, like Barack Obama, has portrayed as a grievous violation of civil liberties. Apparently some voters in Arizona 7 don’t want their state boycotted.

Every Wednesday, Right Wing and Right-Minded pays tribute  to a fallen, former, or active duty soldier who has distinguished himself  heroically. These posts are an important contribution to the blogosphere, but I haven’t done one  in awhile. NARRATIVE TO ACCOMPANY AWARD: On 25 September 2007, Able Company, 2d Battalion (Airborne), 503d Infantry air assaulted into the village of Qowru and conducted a search and attack through the village and surrounding caves in order to disrupt Taliban and Al Qaeda forces in the Watapor Valley. The Company Executive Officer, First Lieutenant Ambrosia air assaulted into OP REDSKINS, one of two company observation posts (OP’s) overlooking Qowru, in order to establish a command radio relay station and overwatch the mounted assault element in the valley with 60-mm. indirect fire. Upon occupation, ICOM intercepts informed the OP that the enemy was mobilizing and massing for an attack on both company OP’s and the mounted maneuver element in the valley. Immediately upon insertion, the 22 Soldiers of 1st Platoon which assaulted OP REDSKINS linked up and moved towards their position overlooking the valley. There were explosions and shots fired across the valley during the night, but no fires were directed at OP REDSKINS. By morning the OP observed the rest of the Company move into position and begin their search and attack through the valley. A fire team plus-sized element of Anti-Coalition Militia was maneuvering to high ground to the east of the company when they made contact with the position at OP REDSKINS. The first individual that came close to the OP was an enemy scout. The individual was engaged immediately and within minutes several of the ACM fighters engaged the observation post with an intense volume of fire. Without any hesitation, First Lieutenant Ambrosia immediately assessed the situation and reported to the Company Commander who was located down in the valley and by this time under fire as well. He gave the enemy situation and without any concern for his own safety remained in place while exposed to heavy enemy fire from ACM forces advancing on his position to within hand grenade range. He continued directing fires and making critical radio transmissions using both FM and TACSAT communication. His timely and accurate calls for 40-mm. and 81-mm. danger close fire were the only effective defense for the OP. While the rest of the element were throwing hand grenades and engaged in close combat with a flanking ACM force, First Lieutenant Ambrosia held his position under heavy direct fire during the 4 hours of the engagement without deviating from his radio transmissions. He requested fire missions, using three different indirect fire assets and close air support simultaneously. First Lieutenant Ambrosia’s strong character gave him the tools he needed to repel the enemy attack. First Lieutenant Ambrosia’s indirect fire was able to hold the enemy front, which allowed the rest of the OP to fight back the enemy’s attempt to turn their flank. First Lieutenant Ambrosia continued providing covering fire simultaneously as he had to make corrections on the 500 pound bombs dropped all within danger close. He gave the Battalion Commander updates of the enemy and friendly situations as they developed. He continued to hold his position even though he was constantly exposed to close heavy enemy fire. First Lieutenant Ambrosia kept keeping Close Combat Air updated on the enemy’s location allowing the AH-64 (Apache) to effectively engage and kill three ACM fighters. Despite constant signal intercepts suggesting advancing and flanking maneuver forces, his ability to continue setting the tactical conditions gave the Non-Commissioned Officers and all junior leaders the ability to maneuver their Paratroopers. First Lieutenant Ambrosia’s actions throughout the entire engagement were of the highest degree of valor. He performed honorably while under direct enemy fire and effectively engaged the enemy under the most difficult circumstances. First Lieutenant Ambrosia was a key leader during the battle, providing true leadership to the entire element. Even when events became dire, he kept his demeanor and without hesitation took the fight to the enemy. His actions are the true embodiment of the Infantry Warrior Ethos.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.
We Should Not Only Mourn These Men And Women Who Died, We Should Also Thank God That Such People Lived

Obamacrats Think Their Attacks On The Chamber Of Commerce Are Working!

Even some in the the left-wing media are blushing over the hyper-partisan, fact-challenged attacks coming from the White House.

The Politico reports:

Obama’s surrogates, and to a surprising extent the president himself, have engaged in the kind of pointed, unapologetically partisan and factually fuzzy attacks that Obama decried as “harsh partisanship and the old arguments” when he ran for president.

In the past few days, Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and senior adviser David Axelrod have repeated a powerful — if unsubstantiated — claim that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is illegally funneling foreign cash into the domestic midterms.

At the same time, they’ve been gleefully blasting away at favorite GOP boogeymen Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie, who helped set up two groups — American Crossroads and Crossroads Grassroots Political Strategy — that have said they will spend $52 million to defeat Democrats. One of them, Crossroads GPS, is not required to disclose its donors.

It’s a two-fer,” Carville said. “You hit the Chamber for outsourcing jobs, and then you attack Rove, the person most identified with the most unpopular Republican president.”

Regardless of whether the strategy works, it clearly delights Obama’s allies, who are happy to see the White House on the march. Plus the battle has shaped up to be a dream political doubles match, with Rove and former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie squaring off against Axelrod and David Plouffe, Obama’s 2008 campaign manager and a force behind the recent attacks.

The approach has only one major downside: Republicans point out that many Democrat-friendly groups, from the Center for American Progress to the Sierra Club to big unions such as the Service Employees International Union have overseas contacts and shield their big-money donors, too.

The strategy they’re deploying is one a Democratic operative calls “The Spaghetti Strategy, a throw-anything-against-the-wall approach to attacking a carefully targeted group of Republican heavies ahead of Nov. 2.” It’s not meant to appeal to independent voters, but to energize the moonbat base.

Interesting strategy, really.  Disgusting and offensive…but interesting.

….And desperate.

Or as Charles Krauthammmer calls it: “Reptilian desperation”:

Something tells me that alienating 3/4 of the voters in this country to throw some red meat to the “One Nation” crowd is not gonna be a winning strategy. This sort of thuggish, unpresidential behavior is what has people jumping off the Obama bandwagon in droves.  It’s what has people blocking the memory of even voting for him.

Today is day two of  MO-4 candidate, Vicky Hartzler’s moneybomb event, which is being held all week in honor of her birthday.

 

This is a special week for our campaign.  First, this week we will be appearing at a voter forum in St. Robert. This forum will be the first and perhaps only opportunity for voters to see Congressman Skelton and me on the same stage. This forum will not be a full question and answer forum as we requested from the congressman, and as the voters deserve, but we have agreed to meet anyway. The forum will be held on October 12 at the St. Robert Community Center starting at 6:30 pm.

 

We are also holding a second public forum this week, in El Dorado Springs this Friday Oct. 15.  We have invited Mr. Skelton as well.  I encourage all Springfield area voters to come out, get some answers, and see the energy and excitement that is building around our race.

 

And finally, this Wednesday is my birthday.  In honor of the occasion, we are holding a moneybomb fundraiser all week!  If you support our campaign but haven’t yet found a way to express that support, please consider sending $20.10 for victory in 2010.

The Case Against Cleaver, Part 2: Spittlegate

On March 20, 2010,tens of thousands of Americans rallied against the  Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare, as it was in the process of being rammed through Congress against the will of the majority of Americans.

As the protesters were peacefully assembling, the Congressional Black Caucus decided it would be a good idea to take a “historic” walk through the crowd, aware of course, that the people they would be brushing up against, were adamantly against what they were about to do in Congress. What ensued was largely uneventful based on all of the evidence. The Congressmen worked their way through the crowd, (with one of their own  members videotaping the scene with his cellphone) and they  endured what should have been expected under the circumstances:   protesters lustily booing and hollering, “kill the bill!” Cleaver, walking directly in front of a guy yelling, “kill the bill” through cupped hands, by all appearances, received some spittle spray on his cheek, which to any fair minded person watching the video, was obviously  unintentional.

But that’s not what he reported to left wing news outlets immediately after their walk. Cleaver, for reasons known only to himself,  decided to turn the minor invent into a grotesque racial incident.

His office released the following melodramatic statement, which was posted at Huffpo at 6:55 PM ET on March 20:

For many of the members of the CBC, like John Lewis and Emanuel Cleaver who worked in the civil rights movement, and for Mr. Frank who has struggled in the cause of equality, this is not the first time they have been spit on during turbulent times.
This afternoon, the Congressman was walking into the Capitol to vote, when one protester spat on him. The Congressman would like to thank the US Capitol Police officer who quickly escorted the others Members and him into the Capitol, and defused the tense situation with professionalism and care. After all the Members were safe, a full report was taken and the matter was handled by the US Capitol Police. The man who spat on the Congressman was arrested, but the Congressman has chosen not to press charges. He has left the matter with the Capitol Police.

This is not the first time the Congressman has been called the “n” word and certainly not the worst assault he has endured in his years fighting for equal rights for all Americans. That being said, he is disappointed that in the 21st century our national discourse has devolved to the point of name calling and spitting. He looks forward to taking a historic vote on health care reform legislation tomorrow, for the residents of the Fifth District of Missouri and for all Americans. He believes deeply that tomorrow’s vote is, in fact, a vote for equality and to secure health care as a right for all. Our nation has a history of struggling each time we expand rights. Today’s protests are no different, but the Congressman believes this is worth fighting for.

Cleaver was soon  interviewed by The Washington Post’s Courtland Milloy, who was eager to fan the flames of racial discord:

Cleaver told me: “I said to this one person, ‘You spat on me.’ I thought he was going to say, ‘Hey, I was yelling. Sorry.’ But he continuing yelling and, for a few seconds, I pointed at him and said, ‘You spat on me.’ “

How about pointing and declaring: “Spit in my face, fist in yours”? But that’s just me.

Jack Cashill, researched the Capital steps tea party controversy of March 20, and came to this conclusion: The William Douglas story in  the liberal McClatchy Newspapers, which broke the alleged racial incidents “seems to meet the standards for libel. It is provably false, preposterously reckless, quite possibly malicious, and has caused real damage to publicly identified Tea Party leaders”.

Here is what happened. Rather than use the tunnel from the Cannon Office Building to the Capitol, a contingent from the Black Caucus chose to walk through a crowd of protesters. In none of the videos shot that day, including those by the members of the Caucus themselves, has anyone identified a single audible racial slur.
What the videos show are protesters booing the black congressmen as lustily as they did their white counterparts. The one thing they do scream is the racially neutral “Kill the bill.” The caucus members pass without incident until they reach the Capitol steps. There, an inattentive Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), flanked by a police officer, walks right in front of a man who has been screaming “kill the bill” through cupped hands for at least the last ten seconds.
Cleaver appears to get caught in the vocal spray. Once the videos emerged, Cleaver would tell the Washington Post that the man “allowed saliva to hit my face.” In the immediate aftermath of the incident, however, a visibly angry Cleaver — he poked his finger in the man’s face after being sprayed — spread a much darker story. As Douglas reported in his 4:21 posting, Cleaver’s office claimed in a statement “that [Cleaver] had also been spat upon and that Capitol Police had arrested his assailant.” The Cleaver statement continued, “The man who spat on the congressman was arrested, but the congressman has chosen not to press charges.”
Yael T. Abouhalkah, the editorial page columnist in Cleaver’s hometown Kansas City Star, a McClatchy paper, captured the party line nicely with the claim that “some Tea Party supporter spat on Cleaver Saturday on Capitol Hill because the U.S. congressman is black.” The video evidence belies all this nonsense.
About a minute after the incident, Cleaver returns to the scene of the crime with a Capitol Police officer. The “assailant” is still standing there shouting, unaware that he has committed anything like a crime. Heck, until a year or so ago, he had been led to believe that dissent was patriotic, not racist. More embarrassingly, Cleaver fails to recognize the man even though he is standing right in front of him, and the man is making no effort to hide. There is no arrest, no detention as Cleaver’s office would later claim, no noble decision to not press charges.

“There were no elements of a crime, and the individual wasn’t able to be positively identified,” a spokeswoman for the Capitol Police would tell FoxNews.com. “[Cleaver] was unable to positively identify.” More troubling, in Douglas’s report, it was only Cleaver who was said to hear the word “nigger.” Even in the later posting, “Tea party protesters call Georgia’s John Lewis ‘nigger,’” Lewis himself does not make this claim.
“They were shouting, sort of harassing,” Lewis told Douglas. What they shouted, Douglas reports, is “kill the bill, kill the bill.” House majority whip James CIyburn, who walked with the contingent, heard no racist remarks, either. “I experienced some of [the anger],” Clyburn told Keith Olbermann on March 22. “I didn`t hear the slurs.“Douglas cites only Cleaver as the person who “distinctly heard ‘nigger.’” It is Douglas himself who inflates that one one word into multiple “protestors” who “scream” it at Lewis. There is no story without that word, and given the lack of video evidence and Cleaver’s willingness to dissemble on the alleged arrest, there is no reason to believe him.

In an interview about a week later with Fox 4 in Kansas City, Cleaver denied ever saying anything about the incident:

” I never reported anything…I never reported anything in Washington – not a single thing….”

“I’ve never done an interview on it…”

“…I didn’t plan to have it known by anybody…”

He told Fox 4 that had the incident not been caught on tape, no one would have even known  it had happened, because he wouldn’t have made it an issue.

Riiiiiiight.

On March 20, not long after the minor incident occurred, someone from Cleaver’s office released a completely bogus statement about what had happened to the left wing media. That is called a report. Then he talked to WaPo’s Courtland (fist in your face) Milloy, that’s called an interview.

That is not what someone does who wants to “diffuse” a situation. Cleaver is lying.

What Emanuel Cleaver and the CBC attempted to do to the tea party on March 20,  was beneath contempt.

Vote accordingly.

Brent Bozell’s Media Research Center has launched a campaign to shame the MSM into being honest in its reporting: Tell The Truth!

L. Brent Bozell III, president of the Media Research Center (MRC), the parent organization of CNSNews.com, said the goal of this 2010 “Tell the Truth!” campaign “is simple: to force the liberals in the media to stop pushing an agenda and just tell the truth.”The “liberal media news networks” need to report the facts about “massive growth in government and its control over our lives, and about spending, deficits and debt,” he told CNSNews.com. “They also need to tell the truth about the efforts to turn our country into a European-style Socialist state.”

They’ve created a series of short ads to get their point across.

The Case Against Cleaver: Part One

The out of control spending in Congress has the country heading for the cliff. Economists are now giving us a choice between two nightmare scenarios if we don’t turn things around:  either we’re going to have to eventually default on the national debt, or we’re going to have hyper inflation. Due to government transfer payments, real income may never grow again.

One reliable yes vote for all of the Pelosi-driven wild spending  these past several years has been MO-5′s Emanuel Cleaver, one of the more liberal members of Congress.   Cleaver, who is up for reelection in MO-5 this November,  against Jacob Turk, can always be counted on to vote yes on whatever big government spending program comes down the pike, and since Obama’s been in power, that has amounted to a lot of yeas.

The liberal Voting Record:

The failed Stimulus Bill: Yea

Porkulus: Yea

Economy crushing Cap and Trade: Yea

ObamaCare: Yea- (but he prefers Single Payer). A Rasmussen Poll taken in March showed that 54% of the American people opposed the bill.) Today, 55% Favor Repeal of Health Care Law

And he voted no on prohibiting federally funded abortion services. A CNN poll in November 2009 showed that 61% of Americans oppose federal funding of  abortions.

When Congress voted to defund ACORN in September ’09 after the devastating Giles and O’Keefe ACORN sting videos exposed them as the corrupt organization that they are,  345 congressmen voted yea, only 75 nay. Cleaver was one of them.

Not to put too fine a point on it, if you believe in limited government, and fiscal responsibility, Cleaver ain’t your man.

The Trip To Cuba:

In March of 2009, The National Black Caucus went on a goodwill trip to Cuba.

Michelle Malkin wrote at the time:

Not since New York Times reporter Walter Duranty traipsed around Stalin’s Russia, filing cheery travelogues whitewashing Communist-engineered famine, has America witnessed such disgraceful propaganda tourism.

Led around by the nose by the Castro brothers, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver declared “if there is repression in Cuba we didn’t see it.” Somehow, the gulags and slums got left off the itinerary. Go figure. The CBC members saw, instead, a land of milk and honey. Fresh air and freedom. Shiny, happy people cared for by a kindly, benevolent leader. As Comrade Fidel himself put it in his official statement on the visit: “Persons who move on the streets in an active and almost always happy manner do not match with the stereotyped images that most of the times are portrayed about Cuba abroad.”

Rep. Cleaver swallowed the Kastro Kool-Aid in one big gulp: “We’ve been led to believe that the Cuban people are not free, and they are repressed by a vicious dictator, and I saw nothing to match what we’ve been told.” Cleaver unabashedly basked in the cult of Castro’s personality: “He’s one of the most amazing human beings I’ve ever met.”

Two years ago, the U.S. international religious freedom panel reported, a Pentecostal preacher and his family were evicted from their home and their church demolished. A month after that, police raided the Santa Teresita Catholic Church in Santiago de Cuba, beat several persons gathered for Mass who participated in a political protest earlier that day, and detained 18 worshipers.

Every Sunday in Havana, a brave group of jailed dissidents’ wives walk to a government-approved Mass at an old Catholic cathedral to pray for their husbands’ freedom. They are known as the Ladies in White. The group has been harassed and bullied by Castro’s henchmen at Easter time for demanding regime change. Their church is named for Saint Rita, the patroness of lost causes. The hopeless sycophants of the Congressional Black Caucus, willfully blind to Castro’s systemic brutality, could certainly use the saint’s intercession.

Here’s a video of Cleaver discussing his trip with clear admiration for the Castros.

The Politico reported that in a statement following their meeting, Castro had said  “the delegation had expressed to him that a segment of American society “continues to be racist, and is at least partly to blame for the travel restrictions”. Cleaver denied that happened, which indicates that either  the “amazing” Castro was lying and using the CNC for propaganda purposes, or Cleaver was the one lying. And it just could be his word ain’t worth old worn out tires…

It probably never occurred to Emanuel Cleaver to question the state of civil rights in Cuba:

Lest we forget: these black U.S. legislators were raving about a regime that jailed political prisoners at a higher rate than Stalin’s and executed more people (out of a population of 6.4 million) in its first three years in power than Hitler’s executed (out of a population of 70 million) in its first six.

Racism is one of the cornerstones of the Castro regime.  As Fidel’s close friend and ally, the murderous Ernesto “Che” Guevara, once said, “The Negro is indolent and spends his money on frivolities, whereas the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent… We’re going to do for blacks exactly what blacks did for the Cuban revolution. By which I mean: nothing!”

Che was much too modest. “Nothing” is not at all an accurate description of Castroite treatment of Cuba’s blacks. In fact, these lily-white European soldiers sons (Fidel and Raul) forcibly overthrew a Cuban government where Cuban blacks served as President of the Senate, Minister of Agriculture, Chief of Army, and Head of State (Fulgencio Batista, a grandson of slaves who was born in a palm-roofed shack). Not that you’ll learn any of this from the liberals’ exclusive educational source on pre-Castro Cuba: the Godfather II movie.

Today the prison population in Stalinist/Apartheid Cuba is 90% black while only 9% of the ruling Stalinist party is black. As these black legislators cavorted in Cuba, a black Cuban anti-communist named Antunez, who suffered 17 years in Castro’s dungeons (essentially for quoting Martin Luther King and the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights in a public square), was on a hunger strike against Castroism. I will quote his sister from a samizdat smuggled out of Cuba last year while he was still in prison:

“The Cuban government tries to fool the world with siren songs depicting racial equality in our country. But it is all a farce, as I and my family can attest, having suffered from the systematic racism directed at us by Castro’s regime. My brother suffers the scourge of racial hatred every day. The beatings are always accompanied by racial epithets. They set dogs on him. They deny him medical attention. They kept him from attending his mother’s funeral.”

To call Emanuel Cleaver, and the rest of the the CBC members who toured Cuba in March of 2009 “hopeless sycophants”, or “bootlickers” as Malkin put it, is being too kind.

But it gets worse. Much worse. Flash forward to March 20, 2010 – a date that is seared into the memories of conservative tea partiers, everywhere, because that is the day Emanuel Cleaver, and the CBC decided to smear us with the spurious charge of racism.

Pro-life advocates who asked officials for permission to attend and were granted access, say that the “so-called violence perpetrated by pro-life advocates mostly contained examples of constitutionally-protected free speech, including activities such as praying, providing women outside abortion centers with alternatives information, and peaceful protesting or picketing”.

“Abortionist organizations have long lobbied to use the law to silence free speech activities. But in this seminar the FBI and USDOJ included those views in their own training seminar materials,” he added. “This raises serious concerns about the United States government investigating peaceful, legal free speech activity in efforts that are ostensibly aimed at violence.”
The Obama administration documents, on page 39-41 specifically list the names of pro-life organizations and websites sponsored by peaceful nonviolent groups.

Some of the organizations named in the FBI/DOJ seminar materials include 40 Days for Life, the ACLJ, Concerned Women for America, National Right to Life, Priests for Life, and Students for Life of America.

Lest we forget, the Obama administration sought to criminalize dissenting speech, right out of the box, with its infamous DHS report on “right-wing extremism”, sending shock waves across America in April 2009.

According to Obama’s DHS, those of us who don’t appreciate abortion, or illegal immigration, or high taxes, or the the gross expansion of government, and believe in the bill of rights, are potential “right wing extremists”.

Video: Obama And DNC Accuse Karl Rove And Ed Gillespie Of “Stealing Our Democracy”

They are tossing out these baseless charges,” Rove said Sunday during an appearance on Fox News.

The comments come the same day the DNC announced it is launching a national television ad targeting Rove and another former Bush aide, Ed Gillespie, over their involvement with an issue advocacy group called Crossroads GPS that by law – because it is established as a non-profit – does not have to reveal its donors.

The organization has spent millions airing anti-Democratic ads in key races and faces charges that they are bending campaign finance laws by structuring itself as a tax-exempt “social welfare” 501(c)(4) organization.

The ad also takes aim at the United States Chamber of Commerce, a pro-business lobby that heavily donates to Republican candidates across the country and which Obama and other Democrats have accused of using money from foreign donors -– a charge the chamber has denied.

How many times has the “business friendly” Obama gone after the Chamber of Commerce, now? Wow.

Here’s the ad:

Zut alors,  I’ve already made this point once, so I won’t belabor it, but are they freaking kidding me with the “secret foreign money” assploding hypocrisy?

Karl Rove responded by saying: “This is just beyond the pale, how dare the President do this!”:

“Have these people no shame?” Rove said of the attacks leveled at him and the Chamber. “Does the president of the United States have such little regard for the office he holds that he goes out there and makes these kind of baseless charges against his political enemies? This is just beyond the pale. How dare the president do this?”

“This is a desperate and I think disturbing trend by the President of the United States to tar his political adversaries with some kind of enemies list, without being unrestrained by any facts or evidence whatsoever.”

Pure Alinsky. Accuse your opponent of doing what you are guilty of.

As Gillespie noted in his comments about the allegations against the Chamber of Commerce:

“That was based on a blog posting that the President of the United States repeated that was put on a website that’s affiliated with Center for American Progress, a liberal nonprofit advocacy group that does not disclose its donors.”

Soros is pulling the strings of his puppets — again.

Think Progress is a branch of the Center for American Progress, the think-tank founded and funded to a great extent by George Soros and his political allies, Herb and Marion Sandler. The Center has been described by Bloomberg News as the “Soros-Funded Democratic Idea Factory.” The CAP also provided the administration with many of its officials, including the controversial Green Jobs Czar, Van Jones (he returned to his sinecure at the CAP when he was “resigned” in the wake of revelations about his radicalism). The head of the CAP, John Podesta, managed the transition from Senator Obama to President Obama. The Obama administration has plenty of alums from the Center for American Progress.

The entire campaign is dishonest in the extreme. Michael Barone calls it “projection” because Obama’s own 2008 campaign all but invited foreign donations:

… it’s well documented that the 2008 Obama campaign did not put in place address verification software that would have routinely prevented most foreign donations. In effect they were encouraging donations by foreign nationals.  Here’s the Washington Post on this back in October 2008:

“Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign is allowing donors to use largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor’s identity, campaign officials confirmed. Faced with a huge influx of donations over the Internet, the campaign has also chosen not to use basic security measures to prevent potentially illegal or anonymous contributions from flowing into its accounts, aides acknowledged.” (snip)Then there’s the question of whether foreign nationals are contributing to the Obama campaign. There is more than enough evidence to warrant a full-scale investigation by the Federal Election Commission, including the $32,332.19 that appears to have come from two brothers living in a Hamas-controlled Palestinian refugee camp in Rafah, GA (that’s Gaza, not Georgia). The brothers’ cash is part of a flood of illegal foreign contributions accepted by the Obama campaign. 

 

Dishonest in the extreme is putting it nicely, but sadly, it’s not at all surprising coming from this deplorable, villainous cabal.

The Obama White House has been an echo chamber for the Soros-funded Center for American Progress from Day One — from bashing Fox News, attacking talk radio, and pimping “media justice” and the Orwellian Fairness Doctrine, to crusading for the government health care takeover using Astroturfed doctors and taxpayer-funded operatives installed in the health care bureaucracy.

Team Obama has gotten away with its left-wing myna bird routine. Until now.

If the stench got too bad for even the NYTs, you know it’s bad.

The New York Times concluded on Friday that “there is little evidence that what the chamber does in collecting overseas dues is improper or even unusual, according to both liberal and conservative election-law lawyers and campaign finance documents. In fact, the controversy over the Chamber of Commerce financing may say more about the Washington spin cycle — where an Internet blog posting can be quickly picked up by like-minded groups and become political fodder for the president himself — than it does about the vagaries of campaign finance.”

And via Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters, liberal CBS journalist Bob Schieffer castigated White House senior adviser David Axelrod for the pathetic attack — which Schieffer derided as “peanuts:”

Michelle advises Republican candidates being hit with this smear to hit back twice as hard, and provides them with the the foreign Dem donor dossier free of charge. Since this is the meme  Dems are apparently gonna double-down on (what else do they have), Republicans would do well to heed her advice.

This is an administration that apparently has never learned the difference between being a political campaign and serving in the government.  In the former situation, this would constitute slander, which is bad enough.  When it comes from the government, it’s a form of tyranny — an attempt to use the power of government to silence dissent.
