In the wake of the Supreme Court decision that ruled in favor of the The Westboro Baptist Church’s free speech rights, Michael Medved noted that Fred Phelps, the leader of the cult, is a Dem. This prompted a lib to email Medved and accuse him of lying.
In fact, as Medved explains, Phelps has run for office five times as a Democrat.

PSSST, morons! (Since I have your attention), new website alert: Leftwing Institute For Civil Discourse tracks the violence and moonbattery that comes from the left. I started it earlier this week. Take a look around, and remember — WOULD IT KILL YOU TO COMMENT?!

He’s buddies with Al Gore, too.
March, 4, 2011 at 6:39 pm
Yep, if you hit the link, there’s a picture of him with Gore.

But then, Jesse Helms is a Republican. Rick Santorum is a Republican. Dan Quayle is a Republican. George Bush is a Republican. James Inhofe is a Republican. Tom Coburn is a Republican. Mike Huckabee, the man who now urges Natalie Portman to abort her baby, is a Republican.
Heck, for every offensive nut in the Democratic Party, there are a dozen in the Republican Party.
March, 4, 2011 at 7:11 pm
Why am I not surprised? So if somehow gayness isn’t God’s punishment this week, there’s always Global Warming just waiting in the wings for Phred…
March, 4, 2011 at 7:18 pm
Darrell:
Nevermind the fact that you’re outright lying about Mike Huckabee (we expect libs to lie), the fact that you would compare Fred Phelps to any of those Republicans says all we need to know about your sanity.
March, 4, 2011 at 7:18 pm
There’s more about the wacko here:
http://relapsedcatholic.blogspot.com/2005/08/fred-phelps-is-not-christian-but-he-is.html
And nice to see you get shit-for-brains trolls like Ed here, Deb. You’ve made the big time!
March, 4, 2011 at 7:20 pm
BTW, the “Reverend” Jim Jones was a leftist Dem too.
March, 4, 2011 at 7:23 pm
Yeah, a commie, basically. I’ve blogged about that, too.
March, 4, 2011 at 7:55 pm
Listen, I will be the first to renounce Fred Phelps. It is a shame I have to share a party with a whackjob like that…Hell, even I kept his personal number of speed-dial just so we could mess with him with prank calls and all. Man is absolutely insane.
March, 4, 2011 at 8:47 pm
JACKPOT!!!! bookmarked and spammed to everyone I can possibly think of.

Nice Deb,
I’m not sure you want us morons commenting here, it takes at least 6 week of antibiotics and some topical ointment to get rid of us.
March, 4, 2011 at 9:00 pm
Mike Huckabee, the man who now urges Natalie Portman to abort her baby, is a Republican.
Shouldn’t lies be even slightly believable? This is like saying that Obama opposes a woman’s right to choose.
As propaganda, this is just retarded.
March, 4, 2011 at 9:12 pm

Hey, I can handle it.

March, 4, 2011 at 10:37 pm
I know a few Libs who actively cheer for Phelps. One of my former friends, who campaigned for Obama, bragged about Phelps to me a couple months after I returned from deployment. I was sort of done with him after that. Democrats all know that Phelps is a Democrat. He’s their attack dog. That’s why they’re constantly invoking him to gloat about his deeds at military funerals.
March, 5, 2011 at 3:53 am
Huckabee’s the one who said Portman’s carrying the baby is atrocious. I agree — as propaganda, that’s retarded. Tell it to Huckabee.
How else are we to interpret what he said?
March, 5, 2011 at 9:59 am
Ed,
if you want to see what Huckabee actually said go here:
http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2011/03/04/mike-huckabee-criticizess-natalie-portmans-pregnancy/?KEYWORDS=huckabee
You continue to lie in typical liberal fashion, I couldn’t find the word atrocious in the article at all.
March, 5, 2011 at 2:34 pm
So, Bennie, you tell me: Was Huckabee complimenting Portman on her pregnancy?
I suppose it’s not fair to call it lying, but by God you conservatives should learn to read something for what it says sometime, rather than what you wish it said.
March, 5, 2011 at 2:45 pm
Okay, Ed…I’ll make it easy for you. Here are Huckabee’s words – (what he said, not what we wish he said):
–”You know Michael, one of the things that’s troubling is that people see a Natalie Portman or some other Hollywood starlet who boasts of, ‘Hey look, you know, we’re having children, we’re not married, but we’re having these children, and they’re doing just fine.’ But there aren’t really a lot of single moms out there who are making millions of dollars every year for being in a movie.”
–”Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care. And that’s the story that we’re not seeing.”
–”You know, right now, 75 percent of black kids in this country are born out of wedlock. 61 percent of Hispanic kids — across the board, 41 percent of all live births in America are out of wedlock births. And the cost of that is simply staggering.”
UPDATE: Huckabee has posted the following response to the situation on the Huck Pac website:
In a recent media interview about my new book, A Simple Government, I discussed the first chapter, “The Most Important Form of Government Is a Father, Mother, and Children.” I was asked about Oscar-winner Natalie Portman’s out-of-wedlock pregnancy. Natalie is an extraordinary actor, very deserving of her recent Oscar and I am glad she will marry her baby’s father. However, contrary to what the Hollywood media reported, I did not “slam” or “attack” Natalie Portman, nor did I criticize the hardworking single mothers in our country. My comments were about the statistical reality that most single moms are very poor, under-educated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death. That’s the story that we’re not seeing, and it’s unfortunate that society often glorifies and glamorizes the idea of having children out of wedlock.
You show me the part where he urged her to abort her baby. Show me where he said that “carrying the baby is atrocious.”
I’ll wait.
March, 5, 2011 at 3:25 pm
Nice Deb – For your sake I hope you are not holding your breath while waiting for a rational reasoned reponse from Ed.
March, 5, 2011 at 3:42 pm
No. Just having fun messing with him.
March, 6, 2011 at 11:03 pm
Can you show me the part where he says they should keep the babies?
Still waiting.
March, 7, 2011 at 12:12 am
Can you show me the part where he says they should keep the babies?
Strawman – Nobody here said he made that statement.
But what’s your point? That unless he said that they should keep the babies, he’s advocating for her to have an abortion? Under that standard, everyone who’s commented on this thread is advocating for her to have an abortion.
Good lord, man, you’re flailing badly. Why don’t you just stop and cut your losses before you make an even bigger ass of yourself?
March, 7, 2011 at 1:15 am
Time to start modding Ed’s comments – he’s not making any sense anymore.
Portman: Single moms do just fine!!
Huckabee: Well, Natalie Portman is atypical of most single moms: being a single mom is no walk in the park for most people.
Darrell: Huckabee told Portman to abort her baby!!
If people are still amused by Ed’s loony comments, then fine, but otherwise I think it’s modding time.

Interesting, because democrat or republican, it’s definitely the republicans who are catering to the sniveling rleigious hypocrites in this country.
They show up on my door this year, I’m going to remind them that our founding fathers wisely slamed the door on them in the first amendment and gave us the means to keep it shut in the second amendment.
I read the Bible, I know what these pharisee want is not of God but of Satan.
April, 18, 2011 at 10:42 pm
You have sniveling Christians showing up at your door? Interesting.
And you say the founding fathers slammed the door on sniveling Christians. That’s interesting, too. Maybe you could explain where in the first amendment they do that.
April, 19, 2011 at 10:38 am
They show up on my door this year, I’m going to remind them that our founding fathers wisely slamed the door on them in the first amendment and gave us the means to keep it shut in the second amendment.
Oh, praytell, enlighten us, oh genius. How exactly did the First Amendment “slam the door” on them?
Do you even KNOW what the template for the First Amendment was, the principal author of it, or the reason for writing it?

Phelp’s biggest agenda is anti-gay. Which party support limiting the rights of gays?
Saying Phelps is a Democrat is like saying US soldiers really do deserve to die because the US doesn’t execute gays. Just because Fred Phelps said so doesn’t make it true.
But FozNews knows their loyal sheep will always be gullible.
December, 22, 2012 at 1:28 pm
I don’t know of any party that supports the limiting of rights for gays. Both parties support civil unions. The Republican party does not support the restricting of rights of Christians by forcing them redefine an institution (a holy sacrament in the Catholic church) to suit the political needs of one group. And whether you like it or not – Fred Phelps is a practicing Democrat. I have no idea how you managed to get Fox News into the conversation, as it had nothing to do with this post – but whatever.
December, 23, 2012 at 1:20 pm
Fred Phelps is as much of a Democrat as he is a Baptist. He says anything that suits his insane purposes. I lived in Topeka and went to school with Debbie Valgos. Look her up.
December, 23, 2012 at 5:49 pm
He’s a Democrat who has a history of supporting Democrats and who ran for US Senate and governor of KS as a Democrat. Just because you don’t like a fact doesn’t make it not so.
December, 26, 2012 at 5:19 pm
Pretty sure he doesn’t represent the democratic party in any way shape or form.. his party affiliation means nothing. He is one man. Considering most democrats are advocates for the LGBT community.. not a disgusting hate group (genuinely) representing neither party.
December, 26, 2012 at 6:16 pm
He represents neither party. It’s so big of you to admit that. I’m sure if he were a registered Republican, you’d say the same thing.

Fred Phelps could say he is the pope (lookin’ at you, David Bawden) and a Communist. That wouldn’t change the fact that I hear similar rhetoric to his spoken by Republicans every day. In the news it is coded, but in every day life it is very straight forward. It is mostly his extreme conclusions in re the US government in which he differs.
December, 28, 2012 at 10:48 am
Except everyone knows he isn’t the pope, and yet he is a practicing Democrat.
Name one Republican who says God hates fags.
(hint: having a difference of opinion on certain issues doesn’t apply.)
Sick and hateful rhetoric is par for the course on the left. Simply go onto twitter and check out what left wing vultures on their sick death watch are saying about the ailing HW Bush- soon to be “burning in hell” etc.
No, he fits right in with you guys.

I found this thread on a random search. I finally looked at your site…hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!! And in Topeka, too!
