Video: Natl. Black Chamber of Commerce Prez, Harry Alford Claims Obama Conspiring To Destroy NBCC

Harry Alford is the president and CEO of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, and he’s a lot of fun to listen to. (You may remember his acrimonious confrontation with Barbara Boxer, at a Senate Hearing in 2009.)

Alford has nothing good to say about Obama, (who he calls a Marxist). He admits to voting for Obama because he was black and because he fell for the hope and change rhetoric. Now, he says support for Obama is waning in the black community, and he predicts that Obama will get only 35% of the black vote in the next election.

Shockingly, he charges that the Obama is conspiring to destroy the Black Chamber of Congress… and I don’t say that tongue in cheek. If what he is saying about the Obama White House is true, it is shocking:

Your Read of the Day: Krauthammer On Obama Doctrine

Charles Krauthammer takes Obama to task for his “doctrine” of “leading from behind”:

It is the fate of any assertive superpower to be envied, denounced and blamed for everything under the sun. Nothing has changed. Moreover, for a country so deeply reviled, why during the massive unrest in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen, Jordan and Syria have anti-American demonstrations been such a rarity?

Who truly reviles America the hegemon? The world that Obama lived in and shaped him intellectually: the elite universities; his Hyde Park milieu (including his not-to-be-mentioned friends, William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn); the church he attended for two decades, ringing with sermons more virulently anti-American than anything heard in today’s full-throated uprising of the Arab Street.

It is the liberal elites who revile the American colossus and devoutly wish to see it cut down to size. Leading from behind — diminishing America’s global standing and assertiveness — is a reaction to their view of America, not the world’s.

Other presidents have taken anti-Americanism as a given, rather than evidence of American malignancy, believing — as do most Americans — in the rightness of our cause and the nobility of our intentions. Obama thinks anti-Americanism is a verdict on America’s fitness for leadership. I would suggest that “leading from behind” is a verdict on Obama’s fitness for leadership.

Leading from behind is not leading. It is abdicating. It is also an oxymoron. Yet a sympathetic journalist, channeling an Obama adviser, elevates it to a doctrine. The president is no doubt flattered. The rest of us are merely stunned.

Read it all.

This is why Trump totally jumped the shark when he said Charles Krauthmmer was a “sad fool”. A sad fool is someone who calls everyone who disagrees with him, “stupid”, and gives speeches laced with F-bombs.

Another good one:

Michael Walsh at The New York Post: Change’ via executive power grab

So, our elected representatives in Congress may pass a law and a president may sign it, but if Obama decides — absent any Supreme Court ruling — that the law is unconstitutional, out it goes.

It all boils down to this: Are we to be a constitutional government with three distinct branches, or a single executive entity that makes policy, carries it out and decides for itself whether it’s constitutional or not?

That’s what the next presidential race is really all about.

“Today Was a Fun Day”, Says Obama After Tornadoes Rampage Through Six States Killing 250

More not-so-great optics for the President.

Via Weasel Zippers:

NEW YORK — President Barack Obama plunged into donor-rich New York on Wednesday, his first fundraising sweep of the city since announcing his re-election bid this month, with a lament that he has not seen his wish for less-polarizing politics realized. . . .

“Today was a fun day,” Obama said at his first fundraising event at Corzine’s apartment. “Nobody checked my ID at the door. But it was also a serious day because part of what happened this morning was me trying to remind the press and trying to remind both parties that what we do in politics is not a reality show. It’s serious.”

Does anyone in his administration have an ounce of sensitivity?

Daley was brought in to help smooth out the rough edges according to White House Dossier’s Keith Koffler, who said over a month ago when “Obama’s trivial pursuits” in the midst of a Middle East afire with rebellion, Japan’s earthquake and tsunami, and the budget battle, were causing  raised eyebrows:

The newly installed tandem of White House Chief of Staff William Daley and Senior Adviser David Plouffe were supposed to impart a new sense of discipline and purpose to the White House. Instead, they are permitting him to showcase himself as a poorly focused leader who has his priorities backward.

Two killer tornadoes later, it’s still happening.

Obama is making time to visit Alabama Friday, before his trip to Cape Canaveral to see the shuttle launch.

The Politico: A Tornado Menaces President’s Favorite Golf Course

The weather team at corporate sibling WJLA Wednesday night confirmed a tornado touched down around the golf course at Andrews Air Force Base.

Prompting the comment of the day by Shredder3: The ONE day he’s not playing golf. What are the odds?

Wisconsin grocery stores are bracing for a big protest against the Governor, but protesters won’t be outside stores with pickets. Protesters are planning to place anti-Walker stickers on products made by businesses they believe support Governor Scott Walker. These illegal actions have grocery store owners worried.

Freedomworks: Discovered: An UNLIMITED Obamacare Slush Fund:

Just when we thought there were no more brazen audacities left to report about in Obamacare, here comes a doozy.

House Republicans have uncovered, tucked away in Section 1311(a) of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), an UNLIMITED Obamacare implementation slush fund.

That’s right.  Unlimited.

An open tap on the US Treasury, this little gem — discovered by Representative Fred Upton (R-Mich.), chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Committee — can be used for anything the President wants to spend taxpayer money on, under the guise of “actitivites related to establishing” Obamacare health benefit exchanges.

This is what Pelousy meant when she said we had to pass the bill to see what was in it.

So, assuming as we should the legitimacy of the long-form birth certificate produced yesterday, the only thing that makes sense is that Obama knows the mainstream media is in his hip pocket. That is, he knew that he would not be held to the same standard as other politicians, and that if he acted in an unreasonable manner by withholding basic, easily available information that any other person seeking the presidency would be expected — be compelled — to produce, the media would portray as weirdos those demanding the information, not Obama and his stonewalling accomplices. And he also knows that, having now finally produced the document only because the game was starting to hurt him politically, the media will not focus on how easy it would have been to produce the birth certificate three years ago, or on how much time and money has been wasted by his gamesmanship; they’ll instead portray him as beleaguered and the people who have been seeking the basic information (i.e., doing the media’s job) as discredited whackos.

It’s hard to say what’s more depressing, Obama’s cynicism or the zeal with which the media does his bidding.

Read the whole thing. I agree with his analysis 100%.

Thaddeus McCotter, (who really should consider running for Prez) Human Events: In Praise of Our Republican Party:

Thus, Republicans seek to conquer a quartet of American challenges:

1.  The social, economic, and political upheavals of globalization—notably a persistent recession and the impending implosion of the industrial-welfare state.

2.  A borderless, worldwide war for freedom against evil, transnational enemies and rogue regimes.

3.  Communist China’s emergence as a strategic threat and rival model of governance.

4.  Moral relativism’s erosion of virtue within an exceptional nation built upon self-evident truths.

Taking heart despite the times, and rising to transcend America’s challenges, who are these inspiring Americans?

They are not billionaires, Beltway power brokers, or bromide pundits, who in their foolish hubris claim the mantle of “leadership” and the ability to manage America through their contributions, opinions, and “acts.”  For as Ronald Reagan observed:  “All great change in America begins at the dinner table.”

Around America’s transformational kitchen tables one finds seated Republicans: shopkeepers and workers, soldiers and first responders, teachers and artisans, students and retirees, among so many others.  They reject leftist defeatism and apocalyptic conservatism.  They know our nation’s best days are ahead, and they realize our generation’s defining moments of freedom will come not from the hands of Washington politicians, but from the hearts of the American people.

The Other McCain: VIDEO: Herman Cain Says, ‘Secure the Border. Not Pretend That We Want to Secure the Border — Secure the Border

Cain’s common-sense policy, supporting the right of states like Arizona to defend themselves against what can only be called a foreign invasion, is winning him more and more support among grassroots conservatives.

Just the other day, Rush Limbaugh called Cain “a guy who’s got it all”

He’s got my vote if he runs.

Yes, There Was A Kapiolani Maternity And Gynecological Hospital In 1961

I’m seeing a lot of chatter about the name of the hospital on Obama’s newly released birth certificate. Supposedly it’s wrong because the Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital hospital didn’t exist in 1961. Well, I’ve already found evidence that it did, and I don’t even understand the reasoning behind the argument that it didn’t.

I first saw the allegation at The Smoking Gun, in the comments, yesterday, and have been seeing it all over the blogosphere ever since. The argument goes something like this:

Name of the Hospital Obama was supposedly born at should have been Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital until 1978. Then they merged with the Kapi‘olani Maternity Home in 1978 and became Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children.

See for yourself. Here is the link to the hospital website detailing their history… Lets see if they change their history now……fault.aspx

Okay, so the link leads to the Kapi’olani Medical Center For Women And Children info page, which says:

A Century of Care for Hawaii’s Women and Children

This is the story of two hospitals: Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital and Kapi‘olani Maternity Home.

Concerned about the welfare of Hawaii’s mothers, Queen Kapi‘olani held luau and bazaars to raise the $8,000 needed to open Kapi‘olani Maternity Home in 1890. She endowed her legacy with “Kulia i ka nu‘u” or “Strive for the highest.”

In 1908, Albert and Emma Kauikeolani Wilcox donated $50,000 to start a children’s hospital. The community, concerned that two of every seven infants in Hawai‘i did not live to see their first birthday, rallied to match the Wilcox’s gift. A year later, Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital opened.

The two hospitals joined in 1978 to become Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children. Staying true to its mission, the non-profit hospital has played a vital role in the health of Hawaii’s women, children and adolescents. It is staffed with highly skilled, compassionate physicians and nurses, dedicated to providing the finest care for Hawaii’s families:

A lot of people lack basic reading skills if they are taking from that that it was a children’s hospital until 1978. What started out as a maternity home, became The Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital in 1958. This is from a PDF from HA Catholic Social Services, which referred unwed mothers to the Kapiolani Maternity Home/Hospital throughout the years:

What more, another Hawaiian birth certificate from a day after Obama was born has been posted online from the same hospital, (Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital):

As you can see, there should be no question whatsoever that there was a Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital in 1961. It merged with the Children’s hospital to become The Kapi’olani Medical Center For Women And Children in 1978.

Now, you may see some  differences in the birth certificates. Obama’s is much…uh – newer looking. And the ID # in the top right hand corner is higher even though he was born a day earlier. But I’m sure there will be explanations for these things.

NRO’s  Nathan Goulding of National Review shot down the “layers” argument I’ve been seeing all over the place:

What’s plausible is that somewhere along the way — from the scanning device to the PDF-creation software, both of which can perform OCR (optical character recognition) — these partial/pseudo-text images were created and saved. What’s not plausible is that the government spent all this time manufacturing Obama’s birth certificate only to commit the laughably rookie mistake of exporting the layers from Photoshop, or whatever photo editing software they are meant to have used. It’s likely that whoever scanned the birth certificate in Hawaii forgot to turn off the OCR setting on the scanner. Let’s leave it at that.

I’ve confirmed that scanning an image, converting it to a PDF, optimizing that PDF, and then opening it up in Illustrator, does in fact create layers similar to what is seen in the birth certificate PDF. You can try it yourself at home.

I think the story here is that Obama was being a big, fat,  petulant jerk for refusing to release the thing until it started hurting him in the polls. That’s it. Time to move on.

Gas Pump Sticky Note Campaign Gaining Steam

The idea originated with the blogger, Disrupt the Narrative, who provided a PDF you could download and print. Now, a simpler sticky-note crusade is  gaining steam all across America. The Facebook site, The ‘Hope and Change’ Sticky Note Campaign,   is dedicated to spreading the word about this grassroots activism:

****** “America’s GAS-ROOTS movement”! ******

Purchase a pad of large sticky notes. Write on each one, “How’s that Hope & Change working out for you?” Every time you stop to fill your vehicle with gas, place your sticky note somewhere on the pump before you drive away. DO NOT be destructive in ANY way! Place your sticky note somewhere, so as not to impede the next customer’s ability to read the pump’s digital readout.

After placing your sticky note, please consider taking a digital picture, then uploading it to our wall. Please tell us in which city and state the picture was taken. This is meant to be a “quiet” protest by our silent majority of Americans, to be served upon this administration!! Thank you all for your support!

And the pump isn’t the only place people are sticking the stickies:

Places to stick your sticky’s!
1. The Gym
2. Food Stores, on food items, indicate the price of the item.
3. Gas Stations
4 Doctor’s Offices
5. Restrooms, on the toilet, sink, mirror, door, towel dispenser, etc.
6. Self Check Out Machines, right where the change comes out.
7. Hunting Clubs
8. Bars
9. Shopping carts, on the handle, baby seat, etc.
10. Bulletin Boards in stores
11. Red Boxes
12. Leave Fliers in empty shopping carts
13. Your Electric and Water Meters
14. Flea Markets
15. Resort Areas you visit
16 The “Mom and Pop” stores.
17. Your Computer, Bulletin Board, Desk, etc. at work! It will generate some questions.
18. ATM’s, where the money comes out.
19. Fast Food Drive, on the order screen.
20. Fast Food Restrooms, on the toilet, sink, mirror, door, towel dispenser, etc.
21. Car Washes
22. Laundromats

Here are some more pictures from the Facebook site:

sticky notes have gone up, too.

mass-produced stickies.

James M. Simpson at Big Government expresses the beauty of it all, very well:

The Left has stealthily worked for decades to forever change this country, with the Agitator-in-Chief’s policies threatening to push us all off the economic cliff before 2012. Yet the Left has an almost hysterical fear of the Tea Party, because it represents the one great unknown that the best laid plans of the Left– even with billions of Soros money – cannot foretell: the resourcefulness and spirit of Americans.

And that great, innovative American spirit has done it again. Without billions, millions, thousands, hundreds or even tens of dollars; without strategy sessions, focus groups, coordination with media “Journolists” or anything else, patriotic Americans have launched another devastating offensive in what has come to be called the “Sticky Note Campaign.”

Sticky notes and flyers are being attached to gas pumps, at grocery stores and retail outlets all over the country, reminding people who we can thank for all this “change.”

With typical Tea Party scruples, all the websites carrying this story urge would-be Sticky Note Campaigners not to be destructive in any way. They advise you to place the sticky note in such a way that it will not impede any customer’s ability to see prices, read the gas pump’s digital readout, or operate any of the equipment.

I would contrast this with the way Obama’s union buddies behave when they are trying to make a point, or the way a rally site looks after the Leftists leave versus the Tea Party, but you already know the answer.

Update, May 1:

Here’s mine.

I had to fill up three times, this weekend for a road trip I went on with my girls. We left one of these at the pump, each time.

Linked by Hyscience, and Doug Ross, thanks!

Video: Hugh Hewitt Narrates An Instant Classic: ‘ObamaLero’

To the tune of Bolero, of course, Hewitt takes us on a trip down (bad) memory lane, remembering the dismal failures of the Obama presidency:

That Old Chestnut Again?

Whenever possible (and even when not), racism is the answer.

At least that what the Presstitutes and avid supporters of the President (but I repeat myself) have decided to tell us in the wake of the very serious President’s release of his long form birth certificate, before he tackled the very serious issue of flying to Chicago for a taping of Oprah and an arduous day of serious fund-raising.

Before we go further, I have to disclose something.  I’ve followed a few of the birth certificate lawsuits with great interest.  The Berg case caught my interest and I read the pleadings as they were posted with greater interest.  I wanted to know how the court was going to rule, even if I wasn’t sure exactly why the FEC was named in the suit, since as near as I could tell, their purpose is not to vet the candidates bona fides, but is instead to watch the money trail and blow the whistle on campaign finance violations.  As time wore on, I tried to figure out why it was that someone who wanted the job, and would require the confidence of the people he sought to lead would work so hard and spend so much money to keep something private if there was no “there” there.  The well-heeled counsel from Perkins Coie do not come cheap.  And since other “facts” of his past, reported in his own memoirs, appeared to raise questions…niggling little things like trips to Pokeestaan and being adopted by an Indonesian national, and trivialities like that.  And as long as his academic record seems to be the new standard for some to rally round, I was somewhat fascinated to find that despite being on law review during his time at Harvard Law School, he apparently never authored a law review article.  As a graduate of two law schools myself, I wondered (and STILL wonder) how it is that he accomplished that particular feat.

But as the weeks stretched into years, and the dismissals in the various venues piled up, I found it difficult to care.  Unlike some of my friends, I didn’t believe that it was an issue that truly mattered any more.  I never believed that this was some sort of conspiracy dating back to his birth wherever that event took place.  It didn’t have to be.  After we had passed a certain threshold, even if it was proven that he was intelligible, I had no reason to believe that every act and executive order he affixed his signature to would be suddenly null and void, thus freeing us from the disasters he had set loose upon the country.  You can’t unring a bell, unscramble eggs, or unspend billions of dollars.  This doesn’t mean that my curiosity about spending the money fighting the requests in venue after venue, or his academic career was put to rest.  As lawyer, I’d never counsel someone to fight the lawsuits the way that he did, at the cost it ran up when the whole thing could be made to go away with simply presenting the long form to the Court…at least not without a letter to the client stating very plainly “While I love taking your money to do this, you could defeat this and all future claims by just presenting the damn thing, right?” sitting in my file with their signature acknowledging that they received it from me.  No, while my curiosity remains, I came to regard this entire episode as one more example of the contempt he has for the American people.  And now that the inevitable post-mortems have commenced, the consensus of the hand-wringing concerned members of the press and his adoring supporters have returned to the tired, predictable, and baseless conclusion that just happens to coincide with yet another election in which he plans to participate.  Yes, these big brains have once again settled on their favorite conclusion:  this was an issue because the people who cared were racists!!!11!!!

Let’s start first with the adoring fans.  From my friend Rutherford Lawson, the only sort-of-sane, and occasionally honest lefty I know:

But there is a sad downside to this capitulation. The most powerful man in the world today was reduced to saying essentially, “Yes Massa, I really is an American. I gots the papers to prove it.” Not since the dark days of the 19th century where blacks had to identify themselves as free or slave has a man’s identity been so disgustingly challenged. There is no doubt that our incredibly sheltered citizenry who can’t identify other countries on a map had an adjustment to make with a President with such an exotic background. And let’s be honest. Obama, at least from one side of his family, is a first generation American. That is NEW for our country. However, his background makes him a black American.

Of course the Press, not to be done in its role as the President’s biggest supporter, rushed to make sure that we all knew that the question only existed to begin with because those asking it were racists:

So what’s fueling the dogged questioning of Obama’s origins? Many critics of the birther movement say its core tenets–and its stubborn resistance to evidence disproving those beliefs–can be traced to racial hostilities. The fundamental birtherist conviction, these critics say, is that an African-American can’t have legitimately won the presidency–and that his elevation to power therefore has to be the result of an elaborate subterfuge.

“There is a real deep-seated and vicious racism at work here in terms of trying to de-legitimate the president,” Peniel Joseph, a professor of history at Tufts University, told The Ticket.

“This is more than just a conspiracy,” Peniel added. “I think this is fundamentally connected to white supremacism in this country.”

Of course.  And as a white male who has ancestry in this country dating back to well before it was a country, I cannot tell you how put out I am to learn that white supremacism is so incredibly powerful, and yet I was never given an invitation to join this mighty cabal that is so powerful that it could ask questions that were asked of other Presidents in the past, but somehow glossed over by a criminally uncurious press corps in the last Presidential election cycle, and have it considered, even momentarily, as anything other than racism.

And of course, the Press wants us to believe that racism drove this issue because “the experts” have told us that this is so.

Meanwhile, an eye-opening recent study from the University of Delaware appears to confirm that race-minded detractors of Obama view him as “less American”–as Dan Vergano writes for USA Today.

The study, which surveyed blacks and whites on their opinions of Obama compared to Vice President Joe Biden, found that whites classified as “higher prejudice-predicted Whites” viewed Obama as “less American”–a view that, in turn, resulted in lower evaluations of the president’s performance.

“Finally, many in the media have speculated that current criticisms of Obama are a result of his race, rather than his agenda. We believe that the current results are an empirical demonstration that this is sadly the case,” the study concluded in its analysis. “As the United States approaches important decisions regarding issues such as economic reform, health care, and overseas military interventions, the intrusion of racial attitudes in the evaluation of political leaders’ performance is ironically inconsistent with what many believe to be ‘American.’ “

I really can’t think of any other way to put it.  Obama is not a polarizing figure because he’s black.  Before Colin Powell frittered away a fair amount of respect among the American people by supporting Obama, he was someone who some well-connected figures in the GOP had occasionally brought up in discussions about possible Presidential candidates.  Hell, some conservatives considered to be “out there” by more mainstream conservative perspectives supported a bid by Alan Keyes for the Oval Office.  The Rev. Jesse Jackson has run for the Democratic nomination more than once.  It isn’t the color of skin that matters.  A black president was a statistical inevitability.

No, Obama is a polarizing figure because he supports radical points of view, and has on several occasions shown a fair amount of contempt for some of the American people.  From his support for Unions, or the philosophy that Americans don’t pay enough for gasoline, or the belief that the Constitution is a fundamentally flawed document, or his promises to destroy the coal industry, or his openly derisive remarks about the voters in Pennsylvania bitterly clinging to their guns and their religion, he is the anthesis of the “uniter” that he claimed he wanted to be.

I don’t need to be a racist to be critical of the President.  And my curiosity about all the things we don’t know about him doesn’t have to be motivated by racism either.  We used to know a whole lot more about the people who sought the office.  It was part of the “getting to know you” dance that candidates used to have with the voters.  Yet, in comparison to other candidates, we knew so little about this one.  A young man with what appeared to be an unremarkable career, punctuated by leaps up the ladder of elective office, and a record that demonstrated little other than an unwaivering commitment to abortion.  A man who a slobbering press made out to be “smarter than Spock” and “like a God”, and yet had no record to support it shy of his attendance at a prestigious law school and little else.  A man who appeared articulate, as long as a machine told him what to say, and a blithering idiot when it wasn’t available.   No, if there are questions that people still harbor about this President, the fault lies with him, and with the press, who decided that it was more important to sell his hope for change than it was to sell his resume and history.  For him to chastise the American people for still caring about this instead of being “serious”, rather than actually working to gain their trust and their confidence reveals more about him and his character than I think he really wanted to.

It really isn’t us, Barry.  Its you, and this ridiculous pose of entitlement that you adopt.  It was offensive in the last election cycle, when you acted as if you really didn’t want us to know any more than what you wanted to tell us about you, and it has only gotten more grating in the years since.  The good news is that now you have a record that you have to run on.  The shibboleth of racism isn’t going to have the same degree of shutuppery that it carried in times past.  And quit lecturing us about the seriousness of things.  We don’t get to hop on Air Force One whenever we want to go on a friend’s television show before a grueling day pressing the flesh with campaign donors; we work for a living.

Why Not? McCotter For President

S.E. Cupp makes a good case for it at NY Daily News:

While Obama was making waves at Columbia University and Harvard Law School, McCotter was toiling away in total obscurity at the infrequently cited University of Detroit. While Obama was teaching constitutional law at the University of Chicago, McCotter was practicing law in southeast Michigan. While Obama was writing his memoirs, McCotter was rewriting the Wayne County charter to ensure that any new taxes would win the approval of 60% of voters. McCotter grew up middle class and is unmistakably from the heartland, with (unfortunately) little interest in becoming a “national figure.”

And as much as he enjoys cracking a paper-dry joke (usually at his own expense), when it comes to the business of public service, he takes it very seriously. He once tried to eliminate the Republican Policy Committee, arguing it was redundant and that the taxpayers would be better served keeping the $400,000 it cost to keep it running. At the time, he was its chairman, a role that made him the fourth most powerful person in the GOP leadership.

He is unflinchingly conservative, an unapologetic defender of American exceptionalism and the war on terror; he prizes good works over big promises. He was one of 59 Republicans who voted against House Speaker John Boehner‘s last-minute budget deal with Democrats, making him a favorite among Tea Party voters.

He championed the Iraq surge and hammered Obama for ignoring Iran‘s Green Revolution, before either were popular arguments. And unlike so many Republican alarmists, he believes the ingenuity and faith of the American people assure that our best days are ahead of us.

At a time when so many Americans revile politicians for being part of the establishment, he sits unnervingly outside of it, at a matter-of-fact table with a matter-of-fact sign. So un-Trump.

And so amid a sea of slick salesmen vying for the Oval Office, including the man who currently occupies it, McCotter’s disregard for personal glory, his contempt for power grabs and his ability to bring common-sense solutions to some of our most nagging national problems might not make him the darling of the political glitterati. It should, however, make him a candidate for President.

Read it all.

McCotter’s voting record is here.
Here’s Greg Gutfeld on RedEye making the case for a  McCotter candidacy:
 I actually love the idea.

A tremendously important story has gone virtually untold by the media, ignored by our political leaders, and unknown to the American public. Despite the extraordinarily high price they have paid, America’s severely wounded veterans are enduring humiliating financial hardships of epic proportions. Home evictions, utility shutoffs, car repossessions, and foreclosures are commonplace.

“The Armed Forces Family Aid Concert” seeks to benefit those families suffering severe financial hardship.

The concert is scheduled to take place April 29th through May 1st on a 40 acre farm outside of Dayton, Ohio. Bands from across America and of all music backgrounds (rock, country, rap, blues, etc) will be performing, including Congressman Thad McCotter (R-MI) and his band, The Flying Squirrels!

And here’s McCotter talking to Lou Dobbs about Obama’s “lethargy policy” at the pump:

Key quote: “President Obama and the Democrats do support drilling, but it’s into your wallet for more money.”

Getting kinda psyched, here. Run McCotter run!

White House Releases Birth Certificate (Finally), Trump Claims Victory

I honestly didn’t think Obama was ever going to release the birth certificate because either A.) It was missing or B.) there was something on there that he was hiding. Why else would he have spent so much money fighting the numerous court challenges? Why didn’t this come out two years ago? This is so bizarre.

The Donald, in typical bombastic fashion, is taking full credit: “Today I am very proud of myself,” he said. “I am really proud, I am really honored. … I’m taking great credit:”

video via The Blaze

If everything checks out, this should satisfy most doubters, but I’m with Trump –“Why didn’t he do this a long time ago? It’s shocking!”

In a blog post on the White House website,  Dan Pfeiffer explained the reason for finally releasing the birth certificate:

The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country. It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country. Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long form birth certificate. They granted that exception in part because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting.

It’s been a “distraction” for a very long time. I don’t even know what to say about a president who would hold out on something like this, (when even members of the U.S. military have doubts about his legitimacy), because “it’s good politics.”

I suspect that the only reason they finally released this is because it had become “bad politics”.

Via Sky News, Obama, addressing the White House press corps, said:

“We’re not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers,” he said.

“Normally, I would not comment on something like this.”

“We do not have time for this kind of silliness … I’ve better stuff to do,” he said.

I bet it took all of a half an hour to arrange for the release of the birth certificate from the state of Hawaii. He’s got better stuff to do. Uh huh, We know.
You’ve got to be kidding me. Compare and contrast video at link.
Rush: Obama says: “We don’t have time for this kind of silliness” …just before jumping on a plane to do the Oprah Show.
Ace is looking at this the same way I am:

But the fact that Obama refused to take this simple action for two years — when it was always easy for him to do so — means that his reasons for withholding it were not, as the media swore (incorrectly) that he was bound by law, but rather simply he didn’t want to.

And he didn’t want to either because he’s thin-skinned and thought this an affront or because he cynically calculated that driving some people batty would be good for his election chances.

Those are the only two possible reasons. The media’s made-up, go-to “reason,” that it’s against the law for the President to seek his own birth certificate from his close friend and ally, the Governor of Hawaii — is and always was false.

Yeah, I had seen that, (Allahpundit linked to Tommy Christopher’s Birther debunking). I figured it was complete b.s. The president of the United States isn’t allowed to access his own birth certificate?  Nonsense.  The media really bends over backwards for this guy.

As Trump, ahem, is proud to have proven today.

Whose Distraction Is It Anyway? While Obama huffs and puffs, peevishly, about this “distraction”…

“We do not have time for this kind of silliness,” Obama said. “We’ve got better stuff to do. I’ve got better stuff to do. We’ve got big problems to solve.”

…I can’t help but notice that the distraction existed precisely because Obama refused to place a two minute phone call to former Governor Lingle, and then, later, refused to place a one minute phone call to one of his oldest friends, Governor Abercrombie, and when I say “oldest” friends, I mean it — Abercrombie saw baby Barack shortly after he was born, and they’ve been friends since Obama was a conscious, self-aware individual.

Atlas Shrugs is shrugging: Obama Gaslights the American People:

I will be on Eric Bolling’s show on FOX Business tonight to discuss the release of Obama’s birth certificate.

Why is Obama gaslighting the American people? Why is he toying with, gaming the American people? I broke the story of the altered COLB back in June and July of 2008 — the COLB he posted to his farcically-titled blog, “Fight the Smears,” was an altered document. He subsequently admitted to dual citzenship for close to half his life. The question was a real one, and the American people have a right to know who and what is serving them at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

We owe Trump a debt of gratitude.

Will Obama now explain how he came to Khalid al-Mansour?

Yes, Trump should definitely bring up al-Mansour while he’s got the everyone’s attention.

Thomas Lifson weighs in at The American Thinker:

There is absolutely nothing on the newly-released certificate that appears worth spending millions of dollars in legal fees to prevent release in various lawsuits that have been filed. Which raises serious questions about the president’s motives in hiding the certificate.

At least 2 websites are questioning the validity of the docuemnt released (here and here). Obama would have to be insane or desperate to fake this. There’s plenty of time for forensic analysis.

You’ve GOT To Be Kidding Me (Birth Certificate)

Oh do c’mon…. oh Donald, this case is not closed.

You can’t possibly by serious.

This document has been altered and whoever did it wasn’t even very clever in doing so.

Check out his analysis.

A commenter at the Smoking Gun link says:

I noticed the possible “layers” in this document almost immediately. When I had the .pdf file of the BC open in my browser then used Command + Tab (on an Apple computer), to switch to another app, I noticed that the majority of the text disappeared. I recreated the effect numerous times. As others have suggested, when you open the BC in Acrobat (full version) and strip out the “Metadata” and “Deleted or cropped content” this SAME EXACT TEXT disappears leaving only a few bits of type, date stamps and all or part of three signatures: his mother, the attendant and the local registrar. Also, some of the digits used in the Aug. 8, 1961 date stamp disappear. The full background and the April 25, 2011 stamp remain. I am making no “birther” claims, but CLEARLY this document has been altered. If it had been photographed or scanned, the pixels containing all the information (the document background, the type, the signatures, date stamps and the check marks) would be part of ONE pixelated image. As someone who uses Photoshop/Adobe Creative Suite daily, it is my belief that had the BC been scanned or photographed, the layering would not happen. Again, I am making NO “birther” claims or conclusions. But I believe this document has been altered.

I was hoping this case was closed.

Nathan Goulding at National Review shoots down the layers argument:

Video: Lefties Disrupt Allen West’s Town Hall – One Arrest Made –UPDATE: It Was Air America Host, Nicole Sandler

A few days ago, The Hill reported that the left was aiming to duplicate the genuine anti-ObamaCare angst of the 2009 Democrat town halls, charitably putting it: Left hopes for town-hall rage of its own.

Hopes for? How about “ostentatiously orchestrating” …

And the left’s  idea of “town hall rage” isn’t asking the congressman some tough questions, it’s shouting him down, acting like unhinged lunatics, and having to be escorted out of the building by security.

The Shark Tank’s Javier Manjarres was in Fort Lauderdale for Rep. Allen West’s town hall, tonight:

Immediately after Allen West took the stage at his Town Hall meeting on Tuesday Evening in Fort Lauderdale, several hecklers who were planted in the crowd began to jeer and interrupt his remarks, forcing West to pause several times and then continue once the crowd calmed down.  Police were ultimately forced to removed one of the hecklers from the event. When the hecklers refused to stop their harassment, West stated, “You’re not going to intimidate me.”

The lefties have put their own version of what happened on YouTube. Here’s the “back and forth” she was referring to, which just sounds like a lot of yelling:

Sharky notes that she had been acting in a disruptive and combative manner by yelling at the Congressman and even harassing his wife. After she was escorted out, she was arrested for continuing her tirade and swearing at the officer.

Here’s a better view of the ruckus taken by

While answering a question on Medicare and the need to make it solvent to save the program for future generations, a protester jumps up and begins shouting and screaming at West. Eventually, the protester is led away by police and later arrested for trespassing after warning. The protester? Former Air America radio show host Nicole Sandler.

The Daily Caller has more on the story: Air America host arrested for disrupting Allen West town hall event.

It does appear to be her.

Although she certainly doesn’t look like her publicity shot:

More at Red Broward: Broward DEMOCRAT Area Leader & Air America Host Disrupt Allen West Town Hall, Arrest Made.(VIDEO)

The latest staged protest at a Congressman Allen West town hall has lead to an arrest. RED BROWARD has been reporting on the coordinated efforts by Democrats to stage protests at West events in the hopes of getting video for attack ads. Last month, it was CAIR representatives trailing the Congressman. Tonight, a former Air America radio host and a Broward Democratic Committee Area Leader joined the act.

Wow, how spontaneous! —how organic! How totally grass roots these left-wing protests are, (one protester a Democrat operative, another a former Air America talk show host)…

Big Redistricting Problems In Missouri

Bad news for Republicans in Missouri: Congressional redistricting is at an impasse and unless the map changes significantly, Republicans in  Jackson County will have less influence in Missouri politics  for the next 30 years.

Former House candidate Jacob Turk, (Mo-5) has been closely following the Republican infighting:

A lot happened for redistricting in a few days and nothing happened. It appears We the People have become secondary to the political futures of several players in Missouri politics. What? Let me explain.

First, there is still time to get fair redistricting across Missouri and locally for all of us. Call your State Senator and State Representative to tell them to vote ‘No!’ on splitting Jackson County. In fact, let them know they should be either introducing or supporting a new map that has all of Jackson County in the 5th District. Warn them their vote on redistricting which sets the direction of politics in Missouri for not only 10 years but more like 30 is so important that they are determining your vote in a Republican primary August 2012 for or against them. It is time to get serious. Having no map passed is better than the atrocity Republican leadership is trying to shove down the throats of Missourians everywhere.

Last week members of our Congressional delegation weighed in personally and by phone trying to broker a deal. They favor the map the House passed. On Wednesday, it looked like the decision on a new Congressional map for Missouri would be made on Thursday by a conference committee made up of 5 members each from the Missouri House and Senate. The State Representatives on the redistricting conference committee are Chairman John Diehl (Town and Country near St. Louis), Stanley Cox (Sedalia), Tom Loehner (Koeltztown east of Jefferson City), Penny Hubbard (St. Louis) and Jamilah Nasheed (St. Louis). The State Senators on the redistricting conference committee are Chairman Scott Rupp (Wentzville near St. Louis), Jason Crowell (Cape Girardeau south of St. Louis), Brad Lager (Savannah in Northwest Missouri), Victor Callahan (Independence) and Robin Wright-Jones (St. Louis). As you can tell the conference committee has an over representation of St. Louis area folks. There is a very good reason for this.

Much of the sticking point on the new map has to do with who will be running next for Todd Aiken and JoAnn Emerson’s Congressional seats on the east side of Missouri. Rumor has it John Diehl will be running for Congress next year if Aiken goes for Senate and Jason Crowell will be running when Emerson retires. Each wants more Republican votes for their open seat runs. Now Ann Wagner appears to be angling to run for Aiken’s seat. Also Scott Rupp may be contemplating a run for Congress. The plot thickens. Lastly, Brad Lager is the heir apparent to Sam Graves in the 6th whenever he decides to retire.

State Senator Robert N Mayor State Dist. 25:

Crafting a map that is fair and equitable to Missouri citizens when it comes to their representation in the United States Congress is a priority, said Missouri Senate leaders today in Jefferson City. This legislative session, the General Assembly is constitutionally charged to redraw Missouri’s Congressional Districts based on the most recent U.S. Census data.

According to that data, Missouri loses a congressional seat, going from nine to eight. The reason is Missouri’s population grew at a slower rate than other states in the nation.

“It is especially difficult this year, but the process is extremely important as it will likely be the basis for Missouri’s congressional district make-up for the next 30 years,” said Senate Leader Robert N. Mayer. “It is imperative we complete our Constitutional duty and adopt a map both members of the Senate and House of Representatives agree is the best in representing the interests of Missourians.”

Senators noted they had hoped to finish by a self-imposed deadline of today. Differences in the House and Senate map versions in House Bill 193 are currently before a conference committee. The five Senate members of the conference committee signed a report endorsing a compromise map drawn by the Senate. The House failed to respond.
Sen. Scott T. Rupp, R-Wentzville, is chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Redistricting and said the map should reflect the best interests of Missourians and not currently elected members of Congress.

The Marxist In The Mirror

I created the above photoshop for Wayne Allyn Root’s Washington Time’s piece: The Marxist In The Mirror:

It’s official. President Obama has declared war on capitalism, which is funny because he never officially declared war on Libya. But our fearless Marxist-in-chief reserves a special brand of hatred for capitalism, entrepreneurship and rich people. Just days ago, Mr. Obama publicly blamed “speculators” for the rising price of gas. Mr. Obama publicly announced a war on speculators and speculation, imposing the Justice Department, government lawyers, Cabinet heads and the whole Big Brother kitchen sink on this “evil” bunch of capitalists.

Well I have news for you, Mr. Obama. You better go after many other Americans, too: home buyers, stock buyers, gold buyers, art buyers, classic-car buyers, wholesalers, small-business owners and investors. Because everyone who risks money to buy things and attempts to resell later at a profit is a speculator.

By going after oil speculators, Mr. Obama is setting the stage to go after every businessman and woman in America, seeking to redefine profits as either immoral or criminal, and targeting, demonizing and punishing the people who invest in America, courageously take financial risk and create most new jobs.

Why is Mr. Obama engaging in class warfare? Because A) he has to blame and demonize someone for his failures; B) he has to distract American consumers and voters from a failing economy and $5 per gallon gas; and C) most investors and speculators are fiscal conservatives, many of whom contribute to Mr. Obama’s political opposition.

Keep reading at the link.

Doug Ross: The EPA Blocks Shell From Drilling On Federal  Leases It Bought From The Federal Government For Billions Which Should Do Wonders for Oil Prices:

After three years of investment by Shell, the eco-Marxists at the EPA pulled the rug right out from under the beleaguered oil company for specious, ludicrous reasons (“The EPA’s appeals board ruled that Shell had not taken into consideration emissions from an ice-breaking vessel when calculating overall greenhouse gas emissions from the project”).

We are the only country on the face of the Earth that restricts access to its own vast energy resources.

These suicidal policies represent an existential economic and national security threat.

And this is an intentional strategy on the part of President Obama.

I hate to use the I-word, but I truly feel that these policies — opposed by the vast majority of Americans and unworthy of a “Commander-in-Chief” — represent a crime of the highest order.

Hot Air: Obama administration attempting to force out CEO over marketing violations:

Weasel Zippers:Obama’s Executive Order Will Exempt Unions From Disclosing Political Contributions Prior to Obtaining Government Contracts…

Weasel Zippers: WaPo’s Ezra Klein: Obama’s Not a “Socialist or Marxist” … He’s a “Moderate Republican”…

(Yes, really!)

ME, October 2008: Yes, Obama IS A Marxist:

I don’t know why Republicans keep tip-toeing around the obvious. If I hear one more person say, “Nobody is calling Obama a Marxist (or Socialist)…..I’m just questioning his judgment, honesty”, what-have-you, I think I’ll scream.

Nobody says, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck…I’m not saying it’s a duck…I’m just questioning its judgment and honesty”. No. It’s a damn duck. Everybody knows it.

The evidence that Obama is a Marxist/Socialist is overwhelming. We have him speaking admiringly of “collectivism” in 1995, We have him in his own words, on tape, discussing  “redistribution of wealth” favorably in 2001. We have his unguarded, and uncharacteristically honest answer to Joe The Plumber about “spreading the wealth” in 2008.

Capitalists do. not. speak. like. that.

And so on. A voice crying out in the wilderness.

Trump-mania – Why He’s Catching On – And Is He Really Serious?

I agree with O’Reilly’s analysis of Trump’s “bombastic” entrance into Republican politics. The reason why he’s “catching on” couldn’t be more obvious:

Trump isn’t tip-toeing around issues like Obama’s birth certificate, and school records, he’s hitting them with a sledge-hammer. People are fed up with the praetorian guard (AKA the MSM) protecting this man. Frustratingly, even most in the “respectable” conservative media have been too timid to broach the subject, even though Obama’s professed personal narrative  has gaping holes, or  doesn’t add up. Finally, someone is willing to go out there and ask the questions a lot of us want answers to. I don’t know what it is that’s on his birth certificate that he doesn’t want seen, but his refusal to produce it speaks for itself. And make no mistake. Despite  the Democrat Media complex’s best efforts, the issue is no longer toxic to Republicans. It’s toxic to Obama.

CNN did an investigative report which fairly conclusively establishes that Obama was born in Hawaii, but this jumped out at me:

Obama could file a Freedom of Information Act request to view his original birth certificate and make copies. But at this point, the White House maintains, nothing will satisfy the doubters.

Don’t you think that if he had done this a long time ago, it would have satisfied the vast majority of doubters? An Army doctor who refused to deploy again to Afghanistan because he questioned Obama legitimacy, has been serving a six-month term at Ft. Leavenworth in Kansas. Wouldn’t you think that the Commander in Chief  would feel obligated to do everything in his power to prove to our men and women  in uniform, that he’s a natural born citizen?

Only 38% of U.S. citizens are willing to say they’re sure that he was born on U.S. soil. And still, Obama won’t produce the goods? What’s up with that?

The Donald has been relentless. Last night, he told Anderson Cooper at CNN, he has sources telling him that “there is no birth certificate”: Trump: Someone Told Me Obama’s Birth Certificate Is Missing Or Doesn’t Exist

“Well I’ve been told very recently, Anderson, that the birth certificate is missing,” Trump told CNN’s Anderson Cooper Monday. “I’ve been told that it’s not there or it doesn’t exist. And if that’s the case it’s a big problem.”

That jibes with what a Hawaiian elections clerk has been saying…

The former Hawaii elections official who maintains there’s no long-form birth certificate for Barack Obama in the Aloha State is now saying the president and his aides have been “caught fibbing” about Obama’s background, and the “embarrassing” situation is making it difficult to fess up to the truth.

Tim Adams, who was senior elections clerk for the city and county of Honolulu during the 2008 campaign, made the statements in a two-hour interview with a group looking to disprove claims made by so-called birthers, those challenging Obama’s legal qualification to be president.

“I think people believe there’s been some kind of cover-up. And I don’t think it’s some big nefarious conspiracy. I think it’s politics as usual,” Adams said March 31 on Reality Check Radio, an Internet program on BlogTalkRadio.

“Barack Obama’s official autobiography was put out to the public for the public’s consumption and we all know politicians – they have a public persona, it’s created for consumption by the electorate – and I think that they’ve been caught fibbing, and it’s embarrassing.”

Governor Abercrombie reportedly told a friend back in January, after searching, that there are no Obama birth records in his state.

Now Trump is hammering Obama on his school records. In an interview with NBC New York, yesterday, he said:  Obama Was a Terrible Student, Terrible… Not Good Enough For Harvard:

Manhattan real estate mogul Donald Trump suggested in an interview Monday that President Barack Obama had been a poor student who did not deserve to be admitted to the Ivy League universities he attended. Trump, who is mulling a bid for the Republican presidential nomination, offered no proof for his claim but said he would continue to press the matter as he has the legitimacy of the president’s birth certificate.

“I heard he was a terrible student, terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?” Trump said in an interview with The Associated Press. “I’m thinking about it, I’m certainly looking into it. Let him show his records.”

Doctor John Drew, Ph.D  knew Obama when he was a revolutionary Marxist at Occidental, and had this to say in a radio interview with Paul Kengor:

Drew: Yeah, my sense is because of affirmative action, guys like me were going to Occidental instead of even better schools and guys like Obama were going to Occidental instead of, uh, less challenging schools. A lot of very successful people were there, were part of Obama’s social circle at the time.

Kengor:: Now, was Occidental known for radical left politics? Would that have been an attraction for Obama?

Drew:: Yeah, I’m certain that it was. It was considered sort of the “Moscow” of southern California. There were a lot of Marxist professors, many of whom I got to know pretty well, not just there but also at Williams College in Massachusetts. Two of the same Marxist-Socialist professors were on the staff with me at Williams.

Kengor: So, that might have been an attraction for him? I’m trying to think, what would have made him go to Hawaii to Occidental? Do you think Frank Marshall Davis could somehow have been an influence in having him choose Occidental?

Drew: I don’t have any evidence of that…

Kengor: Because they won’t release his records, I called them –

Drew: Yeah, I think that’s odd. I don’t know, I got straight A’s my first year, it sounds weird, but I don’t talk about it, Paul, you’d think that if Obama did well he’d release those transcripts.

Is it possible that Donald Trump has decided that the best way to make the media cover these issues is by bringing them up as a candidate for President?

Two men who know Trump have expressed doubt that  he’s serious about running. Chris Christie, who calls Trump, “a very good friend”, stated in an interview with Diane Sawyer, that he doesn’t believe Trump “really wants to be President” – “I’ll believe it when I see it”.

And Howard Stern recently said: “Look! Ahhh…I know Donald Trump. He’s not running for President. He’s not going to run…It is, as you said… a joke. He’s doing it because it’s fun, and he’s out there doing his thing, and he’s having a good time with it, but he’s not running for president.”

Maybe Trump’s “thing” is – he can’t stand Obama,  thinks he’s a fraud who’s hellbent on transforming the nation from the “Shining City on a Hill”  into a third-world Socialist sh** hole., and is putting his foot down by doing everything in his power to get these issues out in the mainstream media  where they can damage Obama going into the 2012 election.

Maybe Trump, in his own way, is being a patriot.

Thuggery 101: Communist Professors Teach How-to Course In Violent Revolution

UMKC and UMSL are allowing violent lefties to teach what amounts to a how-to course in union thuggery and violent revolution under the pretext of “Labor Studies”. And a citizen journalist caught it  on tape.

Big Government is rolling out the videos one at a time.

Publius reports:

Recently, the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) sponsored two college courses: Introduction to Labor Studies and Labor Politics and Society, to be taught simultaneously through a video conference between to two campuses.

The Professors are Judy Ancel, Director of Labor Studies at UMKC and  Don Giljum, business manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers at Ameren UE in St. Louis. (Bonus: he is a member of the Communist Party.)

Some chilling  quotes from the video:

“Industrial sabotage… certainly does (have its place).”

“I can’t honestly say I haven’t been in a position where I haven’t wanted to inflict harm on somebody…”

“Violence is a tactic…”

“I believe in the violent overthrow of the bourgeoisie and that freedom is found at the barrel of a gun…”

“I don’t necessarily want to be part of a capitalistic society, I want to take over the state with a revolutionary movement.”

“Is there any sort of rough guess on what percentage of the population has to be involved for something to considered a revolution instead of terrorism?”

“Instead of what?”

Notice all the nervous titters…

“Most people wouldn’t begrudge violence when it’s self-defense  — when they’re under attack, and I think it’s really easy to frame labor issues as self defense….”

“I hesitate to take anything off the table”.

Part two: How-to Course On Violent Union Tactics: Case Studies Edition.

These people are scary. And they are growing in strength and number…because of Marxist professors like these guys.

LaborUnionReport writes what we’re all thinking:

While the University’s Institute of Labor Studies may only be a small fraction of its budget, one must wonder why tax dollars are being used to fund a program that espouses Communism, teaches tactics in industrial sabotage (including stalking CEOs, using members to insinuate sabotage, as well as the killing of cats), and convincing union members that their “group goals” are more important than their individual goals.

Will the MSM show any interest in this? I wouldn’t bet on it.

As I’ve previously reported, 11% of  Americans polled believe that Communism is morally superior to Capitalism. How many of them are media elites?

And why do they keep talking (right out in the open) about violent revolution? Is it because they know they have a fellow traveler in the White House?

Dr. John Drew Ph.D, an author, trainer, and consultant knew who Obama at Occidental College in California, says back in the day, Obama was a revolutionary Marxist:

Yeah, you’ve got that exactly right. Obama believed, at the time I met him, this was probably around Christmas time in 1980. I’d flown out on Christmas break from Cornell, where I was in grad school. And Obama was looking forward to an imminent social revolution, literally a movement where the working classes would overthrow the ruling class and institute a kind of socialist Utopia in the United States. I mean, that’s how extreme his views were his sophomore year of college.

…I was a comrade, but I was more… the Frankfort School of Marxism at the time. I was, I felt like I was doing him a favor by pointing out that the Marxist revolution that he and Caroline and Shandu were hoping for was really kind of a pipe-dream. And that there was nothing in European history, or the history of developed nations, that would make that sort of fantasy, that Frank Marshall Davis fantasy of revolution, come true.

Q: So you had a realistic sense that, even though you liked these ideas, that you knew they wouldn’t really work?

A: Right… [There were some] who were puzzled why they didn’t see Marx’s predictions come true, and weren’t interested in the role of psychology or false consciousness in preventing a revolution from happening. I was a card-carrying Marxist, but I was more of an east coast, Cornell University Marxist at that time.

Q: But Obama thought it was practical. He thought it could happen in America?

A: Oh, yeah! He thought I was a little reactionary… or insensitive to the coming needs of the revolution! He was full-bore, 100% into that very, kind of simple-minded Marxist revolutionary framework.

His fellow travelers, today:

It’s no wonder why ordinary Americans are stocking up, arming themselves and going to “survival camps”. They sense something is very wrong–that some sort of national calamity is right around the corner.  We tell ourselves that things like  “violent revolution” could never happen here …..but could it?
