Questions About Huma Abedin

While many parts of the right-wing blogosphere are still investigating the mystery behind sock-puppets,  “Betty and Veronica” in this extended Scooby-doo episode known as, “Weinergate”, I remain intrigued by Huma Abedin, the aggrieved wife, who didn’t see what the “fuss” was all about early on, and was not only willing to ‘stand by her man’ after less than a year of marriage to the louse, but was actually going to help him fight to keep his seat. As a wife and mother who has read all the gory details about Weiner’s sordid online activities, I have found Huma’s lack of concern, curious.

Now comes some disconcerting news about Abedin’s relations.

According to reports, Huma, herself is still an observant Muslim, and her mother has established ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, which is dedicated in its own words to “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within.”

Her brother is a fellow at the radicalized Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) at Oxford University in England where number of Muslim Brotherhood members sit on the board.

FrontPage Magazine has been ringing  alarm bells about her family’s connections to this insidious Islamic organization.

Ms. Abedin’s mother, Saleha Mahmoud Abdeen, is reportedly part of a special woman’s unit known as the Muslim Sisterhood or the International Women’s Organization (IWO) which, according to a counter-terrorism report obtained by the Terrorism Committee of the National Association of Chiefs of Police, operates within the Brotherhood in Egypt and possibly other Arab nations as well. The Egyptian newspaper Al-Dostor confirms that the Sisterhood includes 63 international members in 16 different countries.

The group is being portrayed by Western media in a benign fashion, as noted in Der Spiegel and on its Facebook page. But a report by the Egyptian opposition newspaper Al-Liwa Al-Arabi paints a far more ominous picture. It reveals that these women, who are “the wives of some of the highest-ranking leaders in the Muslim Brotherhood” are being recruited to:

[S]muggle secret documents for the members since women go undetected by security surveillance…to spread the Brotherhood’s ideology by infiltrating universities, schools and homes…to lay the plans for the Sisterhood to work at the state level…[and]…to fulfill the interests of the Brotherhood and also to benefit from international women’s conferences and unify all efforts to benefit the Brotherhood globally.

Furthermore, the Sisterhood’s mission includes:

[O]rganiz[ing] projects which will penetrate its prohibited ideology into the decision making in the West and in an indirect way under the guise of “general needs of women”…through the university and the state capitals and institutions and is done in accordance to the project Al-Islam Huwa Al-Hal (Islam is the solution).

The newspaper then lists the names of the women who belong to the organization on a country-by-country basis. There are a dozen members of the Sisterhood from Saudi Arabia. Saleha Mahmoud Abdeen (Abedin) is one of them.

***

It has also been revealed in the Arab media that Huma Abedin’s brother Hassan is a fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) at Oxford University in England. A number of Muslim Brotherhood members sit on the board, including Qatari cleric Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who has incited violence against Jews and Israel on numerous occasions.

***

Hassan Abedin himself has expressed an interest in spreading Islam in the West, meeting with billionaire Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. Alwaleed is one of the largest shareholders in both Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp and Citigroup. He is also the same prince Alwaleed whose $10 million dollar check for post 9/11 disaster relief was rejectedby then-NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani when the prince suggested U.S. policies in the Middle East contributed to the attacks.

***

Which brings us to Anthony Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, who is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s deputy chief of staff. Ms. Abedin was born in Kalamazoo, MI, but moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the age of 2, before returning to the United States 16 years later to attend college. A detailed report from 2007 shows that the aforementioned Abdullah Omar Naseef was instrumental in the Abedin family’s move around 1977 — the same year that the Muslim Sisterhood was established. Huma Abedin has been working for Mrs. Clinton since 1996. Between that job and being married  to a Congressman — in a ceremony officiated by Bill Clinton — Ms. Abedin is privy to sensitive and secret information. Walid Shoebat explains the significance: “Huma Abedin is a practicing Muslim and is still well-connected to her family. She also has access to highly sensitive State secrets–admitted by Hillary herself–as well as significant influence in the Obama administration.”

This brings us to a curious sidebar: how it is possible for a “practicing Muslim” woman to be married to a Jewish American? Islamic scholarship and Sharia law forbid Muslims from marrying non-believers. Mr. Shoebat translated the Al-Marsid newspaper, which reported on the Weiner/Abedin marriage specifically:

Dr. Anwar Shoeb of the faculty of Islamic law in Kuwait declared that the marriage between Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin is null and void, considering it adultery as confirmed in the Sharia position, prohibiting the marriage of a Muslim woman to a non-Muslim, regardless of whether he is a Jew or a Christian. In this case, he assured the invalidity of the marriage certificate between them.

Yet far more importantly, how is it that Huma Abedin’s mother’s and brother’s associations with the Muslim Brotherhood, direct and indirect respectively, have remained beyond scrutiny? As for Ms. Abedin herself, it strains credulity to assume that she is unaware of those associations, just as it is impossible that Mrs. Clinton doesn’t know. NPR reported that Mrs. Clinton visited Dar al-Hekma college last Tuesday, where Saleha Mahmoud Abdeen is a vice dean and the school’s co-founder.

***

So, we essentially have a parent who is a member of the Muslim Sisterhood, and a daughter who holds an “important and sensitive position” in one of the highest echelons of the federal government. In this context, would it really be that out of line to suggest that the real scandal in the Weiner family has less to do with Anthony, and far more to do with his wife Huma and her apparent enabler, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton?

Jamie Glazov interviewed Jihad Watch’s Robert Spencer about the Weiners’ strange marriage.

Frontpage: Robert Spencer, welcome to Frontpage Interview.

I would like to talk to you today about Anthony Weiner’s marriage to his Muslim Brotherhood wife, Huma Abedin.

How is it exactly that a Muslim woman connected to the Muslim Brotherhood is married to a Jewish man? Something is not fitting here, right?

Spencer: Jamie, Islamic law prohibits a Muslim woman from marrying a non-Muslim man. A Muslim man may marry a non-Muslim woman, but not the other way around. This is yet another manifestation of Islamic supremacism: the idea is that a wife will become a member of her husband’s household, and the children will follow the religion of the father. Thus, Muslim men marrying non-Muslim women ultimately enriches the Islamic community, while the non-Muslim community must forever be made to diminish.

***

FP: This all seems very strange. What do you personally think is going on?

Spencer: Either Weiner converted to Islam to marry Abedin, and a Muslim was officiating at the ceremony along with Clinton, or the marriage is a sham and Abedin, at very least, is fully aware of that — and probably the others are also. I don’t see any other possibilities.

FP: Sorry, I am a bit confused about the Bill Clinton angle. Isn’t this a bit of a bizarre person to ask to officiate your wedding? One would think that in getting married, you have things like faithfulness and loyalty on your mind, no?

Spencer: Yes, Bill Clinton is a strange choice, indeed — unless the whole point of the union had to do more with the Clinton connection than with faithfulness and loyalty.

FP: According to Islamic Law, Huma Abedin could be killed, right? If the whole thing is not a charade and a trick, it is a bit curious that her family, who are Muslim Brotherhood and Muslim Sisterhood operatives, have allowed this and not punished her, no?

Spencer: Yes, Jamie. If the marriage is not a sham, it is exceedingly strange that Huma Abedin’s mother and other Muslim Brotherhood connections would have no problem with it. She is, of course, a high profile individual in the United States, and thus is in a very different situation from that of a woman in Saudi Arabia who might enter into a relationship with a non-Muslim man. In Saudi Arabia, such a woman would almost certainly be murdered…

Is Abedin actually being deceptive in her marriage to Weiner to follow Muslim Brotherhood instructions and to infiltrate the U.S. government? Or has Weiner converted to Islam? If she’s an observant Muslim, what are the other possibilities?

It is all very strange and disconcerting.

Video: Radical Left/Islamic Coalitions Plot To Take Down US and Israel

This is via The Blaze with the headline; Beck’s Exact Warning: Not Random Lunatics, Dangerous Radical Left Coalitions; Farrakhan, Cynthia Mckinney,Ramsey Clark & Revolutionary Socialists, Working Together Against the ‘Imperialist’ ‘Terrorist’ ‘Racist’ ‘Enemy’ U.S. & Israel:

In related news…

Via Weasel Zippers, Commentary Contentions: NY Times, CNN, CBS To Travel Aboard Anti-Israel Flotilla Attempting To Break Gaza Blockade:

The one upside of this development is at least now flotilla activists will have a more difficult time  attacking IDF soldiers with knives once the network news cameras are rolling. But the unfortunate downside is these reporters are giving the flotilla activists exactly what they’re aiming for – media attention. Seeing as there’s no humanitarian reason for the flotilla (which is even more obvious now that the Egyptian border with Gaza has been opened), its only point is to generate publicity.

As JE Dyer noted in his Hot Air Greenroom piece, the motive behind the Islamo-leftist alliance flotilla is not to break the blockade in order to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, (there are other alternatives) but to allow weapons to flow in.

So we reach June 2011, and the All-American/European anti-Israel flotilla.  It’s worth noting just a couple of the activists who will be participating – as they did last year – in the 2011 flotilla.  Dror Feiler, ubiquitous spokesman of the Swedish Free Gaza Movement, is a revolutionary- and musician-about-town who hangs out with IHH, Hamas, and the bloodthirsty terrorists of Colombia’s Marxist FARC insurgency.  Douglas Farah reported a year ago that the Swedish-Israeli Feiler was on the board of FARC’s external propaganda agency, ANNCOL.  When Paul Reyes, FARC’s chief ideologue, was killed in 2008, Feiler left a comment at the website of a news story –  about US activists who were mourning Reyes – recalling his visits to FARC, expressing his sympathy, and posting the link to a music video he had made featuring FARC revolutionary songs.

Paul Larudee is a San Francisco Bay-area activist and piano tuner who participated in the 2010 flotilla under the aegis of ISM and his own Free Gaza Movement of Northern California.  Larudee was photographed in 2008 with other activists receiving medals from Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, long-time terrorist and protégé of Hamas founder Ahmed Yassin.  Famous for writing up his moving opportunity to stay at the home of a successful suicide bomber, Larudee ran afoul of Israeli officials when he attempted to enter the West Bank in 2006 after years of conducting anti-Israel activity (Larudee’s reported objective: to “tune more than 40 pianos in the Palestinian Authority area”).

Blogger Lee Kaplan went undercover to attend an ISM training session sponsored by Larudee in San Francisco, at which he learned to deceive Israeli immigration authorities and help Palestinians confound IDF soldiers (see here for the ISM connection with terrorists who participated in the London tube bombing).  Larudee is now planning to send an aircraft to break the blockade of Gaza, as discussed in his interview on Iranian television with British nutball politician George Galloway, the former MP who spoke candidly to Arab media of having given cars and cash to Hamas’s Ismail Haniyeh, and then lied about it to the English-language media.

So it’s down to the Western fringe leftists, who merit the title “useful idiots” as much as anyone ever has, and Hamas.  That’s who is still planning, as of right now, to aim a gaggle of ships flying the flags of our nations at the Gaza coast and try to break the blockade, so that Israel can’t keep weapons from flowing to Hamas.  If all the activists wanted to do was deliver humanitarian aid, they have two sound alternatives available:  having it trucked in from Israel or having it trucked in from Egypt.  But, of course, that’s not what their goal is, as they have already acknowledged.

Video: Is Bill Clinton Trying To Embarrass Obama?

Greta Van Susteren  thinks he may be:

With the nightmare of unemployment haunting President Obama’s 2 1/2 year old presidency, and with no light at the end of the tunnel….out comes Former President Clinton (“Dad?”) to tell him how to fix the jobs problem.  The link below is to the Newsweek article (picture above from the article) in which President Clinton tells President Obama what to do.

You have to wonder why President Clinton took to Newsweek to tell President Obama (“Junior?”) how to do it.  This could not be more public …or more curious.

Newsweek link.

She discussed the issue on her show, last night with The Washington Examiner’s Byron York:

Susteren asks at her blog:

You tell me…but this has to embarrass President Obama…something is up.  I can’t think of an innocent explanation for this.

Am I wrong?  Or is this pretty weird?

Maybe not so weird if you look at it this way.

New American Crossroads Ad Takes Aim At Claire McCaskill

American Crossroads: The Truth About Claire:

Press Release:

WASHINGTON – Today, American Crossroads, the conservative 527 advocacy organization, launched a radio ad campaign and website, TruthAboutClaire.com, as part of an initiative designed to hold the liberal Missouri Democrat Claire McCaskill accountable to Missouri voters as she positions herself for reelection to the U.S. Senate in 2012.

The new radio ad, valued at $50,000 in a statewide buy, focuses on the wide gap between McCaskill’s moderate rhetoric and liberal voting record on fiscal and economic issues. The spot can be heard here, and the script can be viewed here.

The new website, www.TruthAboutClaire.com, will serve as a rapid response platform to contest McCaskill’s reinvention as a fiscal moderate by shining a spotlight on her liberal voting record. The site will also serve as an aggregator for information about Claire McCaskill, with research, information news clips and key votes, to help journalists and voters interested in learning more about her record. The senator’s support for the failed “stimulus” and blowing open the national debt are currently featured on the site, though other topics will be included as the debate develops in Washington.

American Crossroads is also hiring a local Missouri consultant, Paul Mouton, to help run the website and online platforms.“Claire McCaskill is a top target in the 2012 elections for one reason: a liberal voting record that is out of step with Missouri and her own rhetoric,” said Jonathan Collegio, communications director for American Crossroads. “McCaskill’s entire reelection strategy depends on reinventing herself as a moderate after rubber-stamping Barack Obama’s big government agenda, and the TruthAboutClaire.com campaign will hold her accountable for that record.”

In addition to the website, the American Crossroads campaign will also include a community page on Facebookas well as updates on Twitter (@truthabtclaire) and a Youtube feed, which will be populated with additional content in the months ahead.American Crossroads is a non-profit 527 political organization dedicated to renewing America’s commitment to individual liberty, limited government, free enterprise and a strong national defense through informed and effective political action. American Crossroads seeks to educate voters and empower citizens to hold lawmakers and office-seekers accountable for where they stand. Paid for by American Crossroads. Video: Obama’s Greatest Gaffes

Via iOWNTHEWORLD:

Is this fair? Not particularly. Everybody misspeaks. We all do. It seems petty and childish to play gotcha every time it happens.

I would be willing to make a truce. When the left (and that includes the MSM) is ready to stop the full court press deluge of coverage for every Palin blooper, I would be willing to look the other way when Obama makes a teleprompter-malfunction induced faux pas.

But that is never going to happen. There is a narrative to nurture, and the narrative is that Sarah Heath Palin, who came from humble beginnings, and rose from a young hockey mom on the Wasilla City Council to a competent,  effective and highly popular young governor, is a complete bonehead who can barely spell her own name.

Obama, on the other hand, a man who started out as a community organizer, attended an anti-Semitic, race-baiting church for 20 years, hung out with Marxists and radicals of every stripe back in Chicago, managed to rise politically in Illinois by having his opponents removed from the ticket,  won’t release his college transcripts, is  leading the country to financial ruin, has made us the laughingstock of the world, and pronounces “corpsman” phonetically,  is a near genius who walks on water.

So we’re left playing this immature, infantile “gotcha-game” every time someone makes a malapropism.

It’s an unfortunate state of affairs, it really is.

Judicial Watch President Sees Operation Fast And Furious As Anti-Gun political Ploy From Obama Administration

The Daily Caller is reporting tonight that  House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa expects his investigations into the Justice Department’s gun walking programs to point to a much higher political appointee than ATF director Kenneth Melson, who is expected to resign in the next couple of days over the growing scandal.  Issa is currently calling the debacle a case of “bad judgment”:

Even if Melson resigns, Issa spokesman Frederick Hill said the Committee expects to find much more and continue with investigations.

“The investigations are far from over,” Hill told TheDC. “It’s quite certain that Kenneth Melson was not the principal architect of this plan nor was he the only high-ranking official who knew about and authorized this operation.”

***

This latest development comes after Issa told Fox News on Tuesday morning that he thinks Melson should resign.

“He was part of the bad judgment. And when I say bad judgment, it wasn’t just him,” Issa said on Fox News. “They had to go to Justice to get money, to get FBI agents, all of the other people that helped coordinate this, and to get the wiretaps they used. This was a program so stupid from the start.”

It’s not Issa’s job to look into motives, but many voices on the right are now openly contending that the gun running operations went beyond just “stupid”. Judicial Watch President, Tom Fitten is one such person:

“It would be significant for a senior official to resign over a Congressional investigation,” Fitton said, adding that he’s almost certain Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious were anti-gun agenda political ploys from the Obama administration.

“I think another major part of this story is that the narrative of the Obama administration and the ATF is that, ‘wouldn’t it be great if we could tie guns, as part of our anti-gun agenda, to the Mexican civil war, as opposed to, you know, our lack of enforcement of the drug laws or failure to protect the borders,’” he said.

UPDATE:

Washington Post administration shills go on the attack against Issa.

Van Jones’ Attorney Sends Cease and Desist Letter to Fox News

Aw, Van Jones must need attention. Or…. perhaps he senses that the progressive ship  Captain Carter 2.0 is commandeering is sinking, and he needs to divert the attention of the drones to something- anything else but the depressing economic death spiral Obamanomics has caused.  He challenged Glenn Beck to a debate at Nutroots Nation, and now, his attorney has sent a cease and desist letter to Beck, accusing the talk show host, who likes to back up his claims with video, of making “sensational and inflammatory charges”.

Jones, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress who resigned from his job as White House “green jobs” czar following the conservative host’s repeated claims that he was a subversive and a Communist, is considering legal action against Beck-employer Fox News.

Jones’ attorney sent a cease and desist Monday to Dianne Brandi, the network’s executive vice president for legal & business affairs, claiming that “a series of sensational and inflammatory charges” have been made against Jones on Fox News shows. The statements, his attorney Joseph Sandler argues, are “demonstrably, unequivocally and absolutely false.”

The attorney whines that Jones, once an avowed Communist stopped being openly Communist years ago, The Blaze reports:

“Mr. Jones is not a member of any Communist Party or Marxist organization whatsoever, and has not expressed any support for any form of Communist or Marxist ideology for many years,” Sandler wrote. He added that such statements are “demonstrably and unequivocally false” and were made to “injure Mr. Jones in his professional and community standing.”

Jones might have trouble convincing a  judge to see the “demonstrably, unequivocally and absolutely false” part.

As I mentioned, Beck never asserted anything about Van Jones that couldn’t be backed up by audio or video as “sensational and inflammatory” as it is.

Here’s a video montage of Van Jones’ greatest hits, put together by youtube user,

In 2001, right after 9/11, Van Jones joined far-left, anti-American moonbats to protest against his country while bodies were still being recovered from the rubble:

I’m sure that those of you who can remember all the way back to 9/11/2001, were appalled that there were left-wing creatures, so shockingly vile, and openly seditious, that they would actually protest against America right after the worst attack on our soil in history. I will never forget the visceral disgust I felt for these degenerates when I heard about it. Who could ever have imagined that such a creature would, in less than the span of ten years, be working inside the White House, and have the ear of the President?

Van Jones at 4:38 Mark: “It’s the bombs that the government has been dropping around the world that are now blowing up inside the U.S. borders… We’ve got something stronger than bombs, we have solidarity. That dream of revolutionary change is stronger than bombs.”

To call Van Jones a bad actor is an insult to bad actors.

Behind The Scenes At RightOnline 2011

I had a great time at last weekend’s RightOnline conference in Minneapolis Minnesota, purposely held on the same weekend as the Daily Kos  nutroots conference. As with all conservative conferences I go to, it was a fun-filled, action-packed weekend that left little time for actual blogging.

Since I forgot to bring a good camera, I didn’t take too many pix because all I had was my iphone.  Obviously, my pictures are not going to be as impressive as John Hawkins’  in his picture dump.

I arrived at my hotel, about seven blocks away from the Hilton where RightOnline was being held at around 9:00, Thursday night. First thing I saw was a Tweet from blog buddy and CPAC pal, Cheryl Prater of AppleCross Media about being at Hell’s Kitchen with Breitbart and Tony Katz and others, so I thought woo-hoo, I’m going! Then I found out that she was only retweeting someone else’s tweet. She wasn’t at Hell’s Kitchen at all. She was back in Atlanta punking me!  I didn’t go, it was getting late. But I was up bright and early enough to get a spot in the smallish bloggers lounge, Friday morning.

Looking back, I don’t think I made the most of my time, Friday morning….I didn’t go to any of the breakout sessions,  did little if any blogging, and spent most of my time chatting with John Sexton from Verum Serum. Where did the time go? We did go to a Andrew Breitbart’s book signing where we were first in line to have him sign our copies of Righteous Indignation. Only I didn’t have my copy of Righteous Indignation with me, so I had him sign the little card we all got when we were waiting in line. I think we were supposed to write what we wanted him to say on the cards, but John and I thought that was kinda dorky, and didn’t do it.

Just for sh*ts and giggles, Breitbart later moseyed over to the Nutroots conference to parlay with some Kos Kiddies. By all accounts, it did not go smoothly.

For lunch, a bunch of us went to Hell’s Kitchen and had some surprisingly good chow. Tabitha Hale showed us her nifty iphone business card scanner. iwant one!

Ann McIlhenny of “Not Evil Just Wrong”, gave a wonderfully impassioned speech in the afternoon, but unfortunately I can’t find a video of it anywhere online.

A brief synopsis is provided by The Intellectual Conservative:

She began her speech, “I am a recovering European.” She pointed out the immense hypocrisies of the left, such as accusing conservatives of invading people’s privacy in the bedroom, while they invade our privacy in every room in our house, from our bathrooms to our lightbulbs. She had some choice words for feminists, including, “The pill didn’t liberate women, the washing machine liberated women.” She went off on how women are worse off in Africa because a few feminists at Harvard would rather make sure they have the pill instead of washing machines.

Also memorable and inspiring was Melissa Clouthier ( @melissatweets ) who took us through her humble online beginnings to her current success as a prolific and effective media maven. You can watch her speech at The Right Scoop.

I went to the Global Warming Extreme Power Abuse panel with Ann McElhinney and Chris Horner in the afternoon.

Extreme Power Abuse from AFPhq on Vimeo.

At some point, Friday afternoon, I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle Malkin for the first time. She is even more petite in person than you could ever imagine, and was just as sweet as she could be.

There was a  reception after Friday’s sessions on the third floor foyer.  The one free drink coupons they gave us ensured near 100% blogger attendance.

SE Cupp and Jenny Erickson.

Tabatha Hale on left.

John Hawkins on left, Molly Teichman, Political Mommentator on right.

At the banquet with Political Mommentator, Molly Teichman.

After the premiere of The Undefeated, we headed for a place called Brits. It was well past midnight when John Sexton of Verum Serum  and ExUrban Jon, now of The GoldWater Institute decided to play some pool:

Saturday’s events began with a general session of speeches held in the main ballroom. Michelle Malkin, John Fund, Ed Morissey, Michele Bachmann, Erick Erickson, SE Cupp, Guy Benson and others all gave great speeches, many of which you can view on the RightOnline website.

A few of us went out for a quick bite, and were back to to the conference in time for the book signings. I was supposed to take a picture of John from Verum Serum with Michelle Malkin, but his camera would. not. cooperate. for me! How complicated is just pushing a button, for crying out loud? Yet I couldn’t get it to work. How awkward! John was able to get a pic of me with Michelle, (pic soon to come).

I then caught the tail end of Stephen Kruiser and Tony Katz’s  panel on using humor effectively online, which was….of course, very enjoyable.

After Tim Pawlenty’s  speech, (which you can view, here) I went to the Detecting and Countering Left-wing Media Bias session with Dan Gainor of MRC  which was very instructive, but I feel like I could almost have led the discussion myself.

The final speeches in the main ballroom were given  by VA ATT General Ken Cuccinelli, Congressman Thaddeus McCotter, and Herman Cain, which can all be viewed at the RightOnline website. Herman Cain gave a press conference after his speech to clear up some misconceptions about his policy positions, which I videotaped with my cell phone camera. He briefly raised his voice at a TPM reporter who pressed him on a question he thought he had already answered, but immediately apologized.

And that concluded the conference.

I stayed clear of the Netroots Nation folks who were staying at the same hotel, but you could usually spot them by their sour expressions, backpacks, and rumpled appearances.

John Hawkins wanted to get a pic of me at RightOnline, and paired me up with PJTV’s Tony Katz (no, he was not interviewing me):

The rest of the night is a blur. Let’s see…dinner in the lounge, (I noticed Stephen Kruiser barely touched his wild rice soup, what a pickybutt!) then there was the frustratingly slow hotel lounge internet connection which made uploading my Herman Cain video damn near impossible.. Gateway Pundit ended up getting a video up Saturday night. I had to wait until the next morning.

Everyone met at a large bar down the street, and we called it a night relatively early. (1:00 am-ish). Somehow, I managed to not get a pic of the notoriously shy and introverted RS McCain, but he has one of me with Herman Cain, here.

Kevin Jennings’ Exit Taunt To Conservative Critics: “You completely failed.”

You remember Kevin Jennings, I hope? He’s finally leaving his position as the Obama administration’s absurdly named “Safe School Czar”, a post that was invented to help him push a gay agenda into the schools. You can watch him discussing how to push gay themes into the school curricula at a conference, here.

Media Matters always had Jennings’ back,  defending  even the most deplorable elements of the controversy,  and characterizing detractors as anti-gay bigots because they strongly objected to say, the XXX pornographic GLSEN recommended reading list.

For two long years, parents all over the country prayed that public pressure would force the administration to give “The Safe School Czar” his walking papers.

Media Matters shilled for Jennings one last time on Monday last Friday:

Kevin Jennings has a message for the people who tried to destroy him: “I’d like you to know that you completely failed.”

Nobody was out to “destroy” Kevin Jennings. Whistleblowers were trying to shine the light of truth on his agenda, (“Queering”education), and hopefully have his position eliminated.

I’d reached Jennings last week as he was cleaning out his office on his final day as the head of the Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools — a position from which anti-gay activists and conservative media outlets had tried unsuccessfully to oust him.

Now that Jennings is leaving on his own terms — next month he’ll become president and CEO of the national nonprofit group Be the Change — he wants to make sure his detractors understand that they didn’t keep him from carrying out his job.

“Despite all of your lies, despite all of your attacks, we managed to galvanize a national campaign against bullying that culminated with the president himself convening a summit on it in the East Room of the White House, which he personally keynoted,” he says. “So despite your best efforts to derail what I was brought here to do, we were able to bring an unprecedented level of attention and energy to fighting bullying in a way never before done in this country.

“So, in the end, anybody looking back over the last two years would have to conclude that it is a complete and total victory for us and a complete and total defeat for our opponents, because they tried to derail — and they used defamation to try and derail the work I was brought here to do, and they completely failed to do so. They completely and totally failed. And I want them to know that.”

Jennings isn’t exaggerating when he refers to “defamation.”

Throughout the fall of 2009, Jennings — who had spent the previous 19 years running the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) — was the target of what he calls a “completely stunning” campaign of character assassination. Years-old lies, many of which had been recycled from an obscure Massachusetts hate group, were suddenly blasted out to the country by Fox News, The Washington Times, Andrew Breitbart’s blog empire, and the rest of the conservative media.

Don’t forget Gateway Pundit.

Jennings was falsely accused of “encouraging” and “covering up” statutory rape. He was falsely accused of being a “pedophile.” He was falsely accused of having “personally pushed books that encouraged children to meet adults at gay bars for sex.” Karl Rove falsely claimed Jennings had engaged in “high-profile, in-your-face advocacy of things like NAMBLA.”

On the statutory rape story, Media Matters defended Jennings by claiming that the boy in question had reached the age of consent in MA, which is 16. Jennings had counseled a boy who had had anonymous  sex with an older man.

Yet Jennings himself had once said in a speech that Brewster was 15:

I went and found Brewster one morning when she had called and he was asleep in his dorm room. And I said, “Brewster, what are you doing in there asleep?” And he said, “Well, I’m tired.” And I said, “Well we all are tired and we all got to school today.” And he said, “Well I was out late last night.” And I said, “What were you doing out late on a school night.” And he said, “Well, I was in Boston…” Boston was about 45 minutes from Concord. So I said, “What were you doing in Boston on a school night Brewster?” He got very quiet, and he finally looked at me and said, “Well I met someone in the bus station bathroom and I went home with him.” High school sophomore, 15 years old. That was the only way he knew how to meet gay people. I was a closeted gay teacher, 24 years old, didn’t know what to say. Knew I should say something quickly so I finally said, My best friend had just died of AIDS the week before. I looked at Brewster and said, “You know, I hope you knew to use a condom.”

That link leads to an audio file by the way. You don’t have to take my word for it. You can listen for yourselves.

What more – even if Brewster was 16,  there was a requirement that mandated reporters (teachers in public and private schools are mandated reporters) notify the Department of Social Service if they have:

reasonable cause to believe…that a child under the age of eighteen years is suffering physical or emotional injury resulting from abuse inflicted upon him which causes harm or substantial risk of harm to the child’s health or welfare including sexual abuse…

What still more – Kevin Jennings himself,  admitted in a statement that he should have handled that whole thing differently:

Twenty one years later I can see how I should have handled this situation differently.  I should have asked for more information and consulted legal or medical authorities. Teachers back then had little training or guidance about this kind of thing. All teachers should have a basic level of preparedness. I would like to see the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools play a bigger role in helping to prepare teachers.

As Warren Throckmorton observed in 2009:

While Media Matters has focused on the exact age of the boy, the group has not addressed the discrepancies in past accounts. They accuse FOX of wildly inaccurate reporting but fail to note that the reporting was based on Jennings own statements.

So Media Matters is full of shite on that one, as always. They are the ones lying and defaming, as usual.

For the false accusation that Jennings was himself a pedophile, Media Matters links to an AIM post about Jennings, written by an intern that had been long corrected. Conservative media actually issues corrections when they get things wrong – Media Matters could learn from the example, but I won’t hold my breath.

For the false accusation that Jennings supported NAMBLA, they point to a Sean Hannity show in which he  asked, “Does Kevin Jennings support the group NAMBLA?”

Karl Rove falsely claimed that Jennings, a Department of Education official, had engaged in “high-profile, in-your-face advocacy of things like NAMBLA and gay rights and queering elementary school curricula.”

Even though Rove said “things like Nambla” I will concede that he somewhat misspoke  on that score. Praising a man who was an outspoken NAMBLA supporter deeply involved with the organization isn’t the same thing as praising NAMBLA, but it’s still pretty bad. Note that the topic of the conversation was questioning whether Jennings supported  NAMBLA.

Media Matters dared to mention the porno books Keven Jennings personally recommended to school aged kids because Jim Hoft managed to get one case in point wrong.

MassResistance blog post Hoft quotes misleadingly distorted passage. The December 28 MassResistance blog post Hoft cites claims:

NARTH reported on One Teenager in Ten:

Some of the Alyson publications, including One Teenager in Ten …encourage teens to, among other things, go to gay bars and have sex with adults to see if they like it.” Further, One Teenager in Tencontains a lesbian teen’s explicit account of her affair with a teacher.”

***

One Teenager in 10 does not “Encourage Children to Meet Adults at Gay Bars For Sex”

Media Matters has reviewed One Teenager in 10 and compiled below all references in the book to gay bars. The book at no point encourages teens to “go to gay bars and have sex with adults”; in fact, several of the youth testimonials included in the book refer to gay bars negatively, with contributors stating their “hope that an alternative to the bars is developed,” criticism of older bar patrons as “only interested in sex,” and references to the bars as “boring” and “distasteful.”

Media Matters offers photographed excerpts of what they say are all the examples of bars mentioned in the book, and none of them do overtly encourage teens to go to bars to have sex with adults, but a few do talk about using fake I.D. to sneak into the bars.

So I began to go to bars, porno houses for gays, etc. Many times I really had to speed home to make my midnight curfew.

***

Chuck brought me up to a gay bar in Ogunquit Maine, where I had a blast. Even if you’re underage you can still get into bars. All it takes is brains and plans. Plan A: Know the person at the door. Plan B: Get there early enough that no one is at the door. I’ve now been to five different bars and I’ve gotten in every time.

Media Matters  doesn’t bother to address the excerpt they posted by a seventeen year old named Mike Friedman who casually talks about underage sex with an adult:

Last summer I finally came to grips that I was gay. I had been having sex with a man since I was 14 but thought it was just a phase I was going through.

Friedman goes on to mention that he started going to gay bars frequently, then reduced it to just a couple of times a month. This is  seventeen year old kid we’re talking about. These teenagers have been led terribly astray to be behaving like this at such young ages. Maybe it’s just me, but this  doesn’t seem like the type of material a responsible adult would recommend.

Media Matters doesn’t  bother to address NARTH’s issue with the  the lesbian having an affair with her teacher story, although they helpfully linked to a post (thanks!) that reported One Teenager in Ten was removed from the shelves at a Seattle school district when excerpts of the book were read on the air by a radio talk show host:

Seattle Schools Substitute Two Teenagers in Twenty for Steamier One Teenager in Ten

A Seattle area woman’s concerns have led to the mid-February removal of One Teenager in Ten from the shelves of three Seattle School District high school libraries, and its replacement with its 1994 update, Two Teenagers in Twenty. But the decision isn’t sitting well with the complainant, who maintains that both books, which contain collections of coming-out essays written by teenagers, promote pedophilia.

A review committee and newly installed School Superintendent Joseph Olchefske agreed on the substitution because Two Teenagers omits an essay from One Teenager that contains a lesbian teen’s explicit account of her affair with a teacher. But Linda Jordan, who filed her objection in December, told the Seattle Times February 10 that the decision was inadequate because “if the school district objects to pedophilia, they would not have approved the second edition.”

Olchefske ordered One Teenager pulled temporarily February 3 after a KIRO radio host read excerpts on the air.

Note that One Teenager In Ten, the book  Jennings had recommended – (Media Matters doesn’t question that) – had to be  pulled from the shelves because it was shockingly offensive to even liberal Seattle’s sensibilities.

But I guess you can argue that the book doesn’t explicitly encourage gay youths to go to bars to have sex with adults, so it’s all good.

Meanwhile, what about all of the other deplorable books Jennings recommended on the GLSEN recommended reading list?

Mass Resistance, the group  Media Matters called a “hate group” based on the far left Southern Poverty Law Center’s say-so,  did  much of the work exposing the radical gay agenda of Kevin Jennings:

Here’s proof that Kevin Jennings was certainly aware that his organization, GLSEN, recommended porny books for teens.  He had recommended them himself  in his 1994 high school reader Becoming Visible (published by porn publisher Alyson Books). On p. 278 in his Questions/Activities section for Chapter 17, he wrote:

15. Other resources for reading are Bennett Singer’s Growing Up Gay, Ann Heron’s One Teenager in Ten: Writings by Gay and Lesbian Youth, Aaron Frick’s Reflections of a Rock Lobster: A Story of Growing Up Gay, and Paul Monette’s Becoming a Man. Films include Robert King’s The Disco Years and Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, based on Jeanette Winterson’s autobiographical novel.
These questionable books (haven’t looked at the films yet…) have been described by Linda Harvey in 2002 (also here), NARTH (late 1990s), and more recently at Gateway Pundit/BigGovernment.com (Dec. 2009).

On the books Jennings personally recommended in 1994:Content warning:
-
Linda Harvey quoted from Growing Up Gay in her 2002 report:
-
“I released his arms. They glided around my neck, pulling my head down to his. I stretched full length on top of him, our heads touching. Our heavy breathing from the struggle gradually subsided. I felt —” and then follows a graphic description of a homosexual encounter between two ten- year- old boys who are playmates, in a childhood recollection of Malcolm Boyd, an Episcopal priest, in Growing Up Gay, … p.100.
-
Another excerpt from Harvey:
-
In the book “Growing Up Gay … is an episode that might have been written by a pedophile. A boy raised by two gay men describes his first experience of anal intercourse with a man he guessed to be around 30 years old. The youth himself was 15 at the time (p.111). The boy claims he initiated it. He had already had previous homosexual experiences beginning at age eleven (p.110). And here: ”‘My first experience was with a much older man, a friend of Derek’s [his dad] … When I was fifteen, he must have been twenty-nine, thirty … l seduced him … It was a wild night. We did everything.”‘ (Young man, Eliot, telling about earlier experiences in a story excerpted in Growing Up Gay/Growing Up Lesbian)

Gateway Pundit also posted passages from Growing Up Gay, here.
***
Gateway Pundit/BigGovernment.com, posted excerpts from Reflections of a Rock Lobster, including:
-

My sexual exploits with my neighborhood playmates continued. I lived a busy homosexual childhood, somehow managing to avoid venereal disease through all my toddler years. By first grade I was sexually active with many friends. In fact, a small group of us regularly met in the grammar school lavatory to perform fellatio on one another. A typical week’s schedule would be Aaron and Michael on Monday during lunch; Michael and Johnny on Tuesday after school; Fred and Timmy at noon Wednesday; Aaron and Timmy after school on Thursday.

You forced my hand, Media Matters.

By the way, I notice they neglected to mention the “fisting” controversy.

To recap:

During the 2000 conference, workshop leaders led a “youth only, ages 14-21″ session that offered lessons in “fisting” a dangerous sexual practice. During the same workshop an activist asked 14 year-old students, “Spit or swallow?… Is it rude?” The unbelievable audio clip is posted here.

Barack Obama’s “Safe Schools Czar” was the keynote speaker at the GLSEN/Boston Conference at Tufts University in 2000. High school students at the conference learned about fisting and watersports from the GLSEN activists. Jennings is seen here holding the conference program. (Via Mass Resistance)

Unfortunately for GLSEN, undercover journalists with Mass Resistance recorded these outrageous sessions at Tufts University. The audio was later leaked to a local radio station. This created such an uproar that GLSEN leaders were forced to apologize for their disgusting behavior.

Despite the controversy, Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings and his GLSEN organization did nothing to clean up their act. In fact in 2001 activists handed out “fisting kits” to the children and teachers who attended the GLSEN conference.

But that’s not all. The children who attended Kevin Jennings’ GLSEN 2005 Conference also left with their own “Little Black Book – Queer in the 21st Century”.

Yes, this is a “years old story”, but. so. what? It is an still an outrage. And it’s all true. You can hear the undercover audio for yourself. You can also view the totally inappropriate and disgusting booklet for yourself.

Good riddance, “Safe School Czar”, Keven Jennings – don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

As for Media Matters and their lame attempts at misdirection, I have a message:  “I’d like you to know that you completely failed.”

Whispers of A Dark Ulterior Motive In Operation Fast and Furious Getting Louder

The very idea that any  administration in this country, even the Obama administration could be this reckless – this corrupt- this cold blooded in its drive to further an unpopular agenda is almost unthinkable.  I finally dared hint last week that something dark and nefarious must be behind this insane, irrational operation – nobody can be this incompetent: Video: Issa’s Opening Statement at Today’s Operation Fast and Furious Hearing + More

This whole debacle begs the question: How could top officials at the DOJ have been this criminally,  insanely, impossibly incompetent?

In the past, the Obama Administration and the Department of Homeland Security had implied that the violence in Mexico was the fault of the Second Amendment — law abiding gun shop owners who sold to cartel members.

This whole thing stinks to high heaven and heads should roll.
The higher up – the better.

It is increasingly looking like the Obama administration decided that  in  pursuit of its omelet – anti-gun legislation,  it would have to “break a few eggs”, like border patrol agent, Brian Terry and Jaime Zapata .

Thank God for whistleblowers like ATF agent John Dodson because had he not blown the whistle on this travesty,  the American people, would never have learned of it. Heads are  beginning to roll, as Andy from AoSHQ reports:

There’s a report in the weekend Wall Street Journal suggesting that ATF head Kenneth Melson is about to take the fall for Operation Fast and Furious a/k/a Gunwalker.

The Justice Department is expected to oust the head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to people familiar with the matter, amid a troubled federal antitrafficking operation that has grown into the agency’s biggest scandal in nearly two decades.Moves toward the replacement of Kenneth Melson, acting ATF director since April 2009, could begin next week, although the precise sequence of events remains to be decided, these people said.

***

Instapundit is deeply suspicious of the motivations behind what some are calling a scandal “worse than Iran-Contra.”

Bonus quote: “Allowing loads of weapons that we knew to be destined for criminals, this was the plan. It was so mandated.” –Special Agent John Dodson ATF Phoenix Field Division. I retain my suspicions about the connection between a secret ATF operation that allowed thousands of weapons to go from U.S. gunshops to Mexican crime scenes, and a public gun-control campaign by the Obama Administration that stressed the need to limit gun sales in the United States because weapons from U.S. gun shops were turning up at Mexican crime scenes. Call me cynical, but this is an awfully convenient juxtaposition.

Andy at AoSHQ created a helpful timeline of relevant events throughout this scandal:

  • January 20, 2009: A hard-core, idealogical leftist becomes President. Gun control is right up there with high taxes and abortion-on-demand as a sacrament of the left, but the prospects for enacting gun control legislation look bleak due to a shift in public mood and the 2008 Heller decision along with a pesky lack of carnage from widespread adoption of shall-issue concealed carry laws and the 2004 expiration of the assault weapons ban.
  • March 26, 2009: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton claims on a flight to Mexico City that 90% of the firearms used by drug cartels in Mexico come from the U.S. After layers of rigorous fact-checking, the MBM repeated the claim. For example, USA Today:

On Thursday, Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano visit Mexico to discuss ways to stop the smuggling of American weapons, which Mexico says account for 90% of confiscated arms here. The meeting is part of an urgent American effort to aid Mexico as it fights a bloody war against drug cartels.

  • April 2009: The 90% claim is almost immediately debunked
  • Fall 2009: Operation Fast and Furious begins.
  • November 2010: The body of kidnapped Mexican attorney Mario Gonzalez Rodriguez is discovered in a shallow grave. It is now reported that he was killed with guns allowed to be smuggled under Operation Fast and Furious.
  • December 14, 2010: Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry is shot with an AK-47 allowed to be smuggled to Mexico under this operation. He died the following day.

The ATF Head’s ouster should only be the beginning.  Issa says “Holder absolutely knew” about this operation earlier than he testified:

Video: My Favorite RightOnline Speeches

I didn’t have time to do a lot of blogging during the conference because we were going a mile a minute all weekend long. Watching speeches,  going to breakout sessions, and fraternizing with fellow bloggers, etc, made it difficult to do much posting.

Also, I forgot to bring my own camera, so I’m relying on other people’s video.

The Blog Prof was there, blogging in the same media room I was, yet I still managed to miss meeting him! He took this video of Andrew Breitbart’s speech Friday night during the banquet before the premiere of Steve Bannon’s new movie about  Sarah Palin; The Undefeated, which I’ll be reviewing later. In an attempt to put the Weinergate scandal in context,  the always entertaining Breitbart took us back a few years to Clinton’s Lewinsky scandal, which he characterized as “the Bermuda Triangle of pornography”:

Part One:

Part Two:

Part Three:

I loved Michelle Malkin’s speech about how ‘new media’ vs ‘old media’ has been transformed to ‘right media’ vs ‘wrong media’, and how ‘right media’,  (bloggers, whistle-blowers and watchdogs)  are making a difference in exposing left-wing fraud, corruption, and power grabs. It’s a very entertaining speech with lots of  inside baseball. You can watch it at The Right Scoop.

Also great was Michele Bachmann’s keynote speech, Saturday morning, which you also view at The Right Scoop.  An unhinged GLBT activist charged the stage after her speech, and attempted to “glitterbomb” her at point-blank range, but still managed to miss.

That video was taken by Frank Strategies:

Herman Cain is a masterful speaker, and always a crowd favorite. He didn’t disappoint with his Saturday afternoon speech at RightOnline:

Rep. Thad Mccotter’s speech was short but sweet, clocking in at less than seven minutes, and starting with a great joke about Obama’s reliance on teleprompters:

Herman Cain Press Conference At RightOnline

After his speech at RightOnline in Minneapolis, MN on June 18, Herman Cain sought to clear up  misconceptions about three of his positions on  issues that have caused some controversy for him: the question of whether or not he would appoint a Muslim to his administration, a gun rights issue, and his refusal to sign the Susan B. Anthony List Pro-Life pledge.    He first tackled the issue of appointing Muslims to his administration, which he  reasserted was possible, while stipulating that he might “take extra precautions”.

The fiery Atlanta businessman and former talk show host raised his voice several times during the presser, but “almost lost his cool” when a reporter  pressed him on the Muslim question.  He immediately apologized for his outburst.

The question comes at 13:19 minutes in:

UPDATE:

RS McCain has identified the reporter who asked  Cain the question that set him off:

The normally genial Atlanta businessman became angry when Evan McMorris-Santoro, a writer for the liberal blog Talking Points Memo, asked whether Cain would apply “special precautions” in hiring Muslims.

“If you’re trying to make me lose my cool, you’re almost succeeding,” Cain said, after McMorris-Santoro raised the question — one Cain had addressed at some length to begin the press conference — and when the TMP writer attempted to reiterate the question, Cain roared back: “I never said I would use any special precautions!”

Romney Refuses To Sign Pro-Life Pledge

Strike one, strike two, and  now strike three, (as far as I’m concerned):

New Orleans, Louisiana (CNN) – Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign is explaining his decision not to sign a tough anti-abortion pledge supported by most of the candidates in the Republican field.

The anti-abortion Susan B. Anthony List announced Friday that Republican candidates Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul have signed its Pro-Life Leadership Presidential Pledge.

The group, though, made a point of highlighting Romney’s refusal to sign the pledge.

The pledge would require the candidates, if elected, to “permanently end all taxpayer funding of abortion,” defund Planned Parenthood, and appoint abortion opponents to the federal bench and Cabinet positions.

Romney’s campaign re-affirmed his opposition to abortion rights and called the pledge “well-intentioned.”

Mitt continues to walk the line in the middle of the road, which is not the place he wants to be before the primaries. All of the other candidates signed the pledge except for Gary Johnson and Herman Cain (?!)

Allahpundit snarks:

Coming soon from Pawlenty, presumably: A nasty tweet ripping Mitt for forever flip-flopping on abortion, followed by a whole lot of stammering at the next debate. Bachmann, however, just might lay him out.

Saturday Movie Matinee

Yesterday, after signing copies of his book at at RightOline, Andrew Breitbart went across the street to shake things up at the Nutroot convention. Hilarity ensued:

ZOMG, he sure got Andrew good on the not being credentialed thing. That guy must be the toast of Crazytown, today. And the hard-hitting questions about some fracas that neither Bretbart, nor any of his people were involved in was Pulitzer quality work. That alone will keep left-wing feverswamps busy for weeks spinning theories.

A couple of weeks ago I wondered, will lefties sign anything? It turns out, they will. They really, really will.

People sign “I am a moron” petition without reading headline:

Social critic Mark Dice asks people to sign a petition for some reason or another, and almot everyone does without even reading a word. Mark Dice is a media analyst, social critic, political activist, and author who, in an entertaining and educational way, gets people to question our celebrity obsessed culture, and the role the mainstream media plays in shaping our lives.

My 12 year old daughter has been raving about this: Cecilia,  “covered by Local Natives. Performed from the courtyard of ‘gorilla manor,’ our humble dwelling”:

That’s was pretty cool, even though they’re a bunch of dirty hippies.

Hey, did you know that GE paid no income taxes in 2010? ABC’s Jake Tapper asked why, here.

The top tax bracket for U.S. corporations stands at 35 percent, one of the highest rates in the world. So how is it possible that a giant of American business, General Electric, paid nothing in federal taxes last year, even as it made billions in profit? And should the CEO of GE, Jeffrey Immelt, be advising the president on business?

This story was covered by The Blaze, earlier this week: SEIU Officials Throw Out Member Questioning Union’s Ballot-Counting Practices: Mariam Nojiam, a state worker for the Department of Motor Vehicles and SEIU member, became suspicious when she happened on vote-counters who were apparently breaking the rules pertaining to an internal union election. Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey sets upthe clip (since Mariam caught everything on her cell phone):

The SEIU held an election by mail for an internal election — for which it apparently uses the same kind of secret ballots that they want to deny workers with Card Check. By SEIU’s own rules, those ballots are supposed to arrive via US Postal Service, with postmarks to note the date so that the counters can verify they arrived before the deadline. One SEIU observer noticed counters opening large envelopes of ballots with no postmarks at all on them — and when she tried to protest, the other SEIU officials in the room pushed her out the door.
