Issa Promises a “Slew of Subpeonas” on Operation Fast and Furious

-

Town Hall reports that after months of stonewalling from the Obama Justice Department, Rep. Darrell Issa, Chairman of  The House Oversight Committee, isn’t playing softball in his investigation into Operation Fast and Furious:

“This is not a discovery process of what happened. We know what happened. We know that this Administration at the highest levels approved a process that allowed thousands of high powered weapons, basically AK-47s and M-16 look alikes, to go to the worst of the worst on both sides of the borders.”

“This was an operation approved in Washington.”

“We have a slew of subpeonas that we expect to be issuing for people here in Washington.”

Issa has scheduled an Operation Fast and Furious Hearing to be Held June 13th:

This hearing will examine the constitutional questions raised by both the Department of Justice’s refusal to comply with a Congressional subpoena as well as the withholding of documents from a Congressional subpoena. It is the first in a series of hearings on Operation Fast and Furious.

The following witnesses are currently slated to appear at the hearing. Testimony will be posted online as it becomes available. The hearing will be webcast live at Oversight.House.Gov.

Witnesses

• Professor Charles Tiefer, Commissioner, Commission on Wartime Contracting

Professor Tiefer was chief litigator for the House of Representatives and was a courtroom advocate in numerous major cases. “Operation Fast and Furious” Needs To Be A Bigger Story

Report: Weiner Coached Porn Star On How To Lie To Media

This is via TMZ, and they don’t recount how they came upon the emails, but if  this is true, it’s very damning:

Weiner and former porn star Ginger Lee exchanged scores of sexual emails over a long period of time.  When the underwear scandal broke on May 28, Lee began receiving calls from the media, and Weiner was more than happy to help her control the situation … by lying.

On June 2, Weiner emailed Lee, “Do you need to talk to a professional PR type person to give u advice?  I can have someone on my team call. [Yeah, my team is doing great. Ugh].”

Who does he mean by “My team?” If it’s his congressional staff, then he may have run afoul of House Ethics Rules.

Weiner put on a full court press, urging Lee to lie about their relationship.  On June 1, he emailed her:  “The key is to have a short, thought out statement that tackles the top line questions and then refer people back to it.  Have a couple of iterations of: ‘This is silly.  Like so many others, I follow Rep. Weiner on Twitter.  I don’t know him and have never met him. He briefly followed me and sent me a dm saying thank you for the follow.  That’s it.’”

Weiner suggested a nice touch — some good ol’ Southern charm: “And then maybe insert some y’alls in there.”

Again, I have no idea how TMZ got this, but they report that Weiner sent Lee this proposed statement she could give to the press:

“I have nothing to do with the situation involving Rep Weiner.  I follow his twitter feed.  And for a brief time he followed me.  Much has been made of the fact that I have posted about my admiration for Rep Weiner and his politics.  All I can say about that is that I’m a fan of his.  Rep. Weiner sent me one short direct message thanking me for following him.  I have never met Rep. Weiner and he has never sent me anything innappopriate (sic) …”

Lee gave this statement to the DC Caller on #Weinergate 6/1:

“I haven’t met Rep Weiner. I follow him on twitter because I support him & what he stands for,” Lee said in an email to TheDC last Wednesday morning. “I have been hounded by his political opponents but that hasn’t changed my view of him and what he fights for.”

Weiner lied to Wolf Blitzer in his June 1 interview with CNN, saying that the direct message Lee received was generic and automated.

“I — most likely what she’s referring to is, as a pro forma thing, thank you for following Congressman Anthony — thank you for following me, please stay tuned to AnthonyWeiner.com for updates of other things going on,” Weiner said. “That’s probably what she’s referring to.”

I still say Weiner doesn’t survive this.

Dems are no longer circling the wagons.

John Nolte, Big Government: Anthony Weiner’s Refusal to Resign Raises More Questions About His Character

Betsy Mccaughey at New York Daily News: Anthony Weiner: Stick in a fork in him, he’s done

At no point during the press conference or in the preceding week did integrity make an appearance. He lied as long as he could, then said he made a mistake. That’s a weasel word. It is reminiscent of how President Bill Clinton discussed his sexual escapade with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. What Weiner actually meant was he made a political mistake. He got caught lying about who he is. “Mistake” masks the importance of the personal crime.

It is apparent he can no longer effectively advocate for the people of New York or the policies he claims to support. He is a leading advocate for the Obama health law, but how can he advocate for it when he is no longer considered a person of sound judgment or moral values?

I feel that way about virtually all Dems. Why is it only when they’re caught lying about personal matters that scandals erupt? Reid/Pelosi/Obama et al  flagrantly lie to the American people every day about policy matters and no one bats an eye.

I’m sure Obama doesn’t need some Commie from RT TV to tell him how to go forward.

Just an aside:

Trevor Loudon has updated his file on Communists Vernon Garrett (Valerie’s dad) and Frank Marshall Davis (Obama’s mentor).

Communist Frank Marshall Davis worked closely with comrade Vernon Jarrett in 1940′s Chicago. Davis moved to Hawaii where he eventually met and mentored a young Barack Obama. Meanwhile Vernon Jarrett helped elect communist/socialist backed Harold Washington to the Chicago mayoralty. Washington’s victory inspired Barack Obama to move to Chicago, where his career was promoted by both Vernon Jarrett and the Communist Party.

Vernon Jarrett’s daughter-in-law Valerie Jarrett, worked for Harold Washington. Later she employed Barack Obama’s fiancee, Michelle Robinson, befriended the family and became one of President Obama’s most trusted advisers.

In Chicago and nationally, the Communist Party threw its entire weight behind Obama’s Senate and Presidential campaigns.

Is this is all mere coincidence?

More importantly, given the connections of Frank Marshall Davis and the Communist Party USA to Soviet networks of the time, are there serious security implications here?

Video: WeinerGate Press Conference

I was waiting for a video to appear on YouTube that included the question and answer period that followed the weeping mea culpa. It’s his shifty answers that tell you what you need to know , not his pitiful blubbering over the fact that his lies are no longer credible so now he has to face the music:

I live blogged the presser, here.

Michelle Malkin’s take, here.

Earlier, Andrew Breitbart had boldly crashed the press conference:

Did anyone else notice the deafening silence when Breitbart challenged the media to come up with one example of when he had lied?

Will the “Reality-Based” bloggers who had accused Breitbart of being behind the Weinergate “hacking” , apologize, now that Breitbart has been fully vindicated?

Not a chance: Charles Johnson: I Won’t Apologize to Breitbart.

This one here just keeps on digging.

This Kos Kiddie is swearing up a storm because reporters asked if Weiner would apologize to Breibart. How dare they!  He then desperately tries to change the subject by mentioning Paul Ryan and Sarah Palin in totally unrelated updates.

UPDATE:

Just for lulz, via Ace:

A hoaxster hacked into Daily Kos and did a perfect, spot-on impersonation of a Kos Kiddie covering the Weiner press conference: NEW DETAILS: Weiner’s Press Conference was FAKE!!

So how do I know today’s press conference was a hoax?  There are ten reasons:

1) Today’s press conference was supposedly held at a Sheraton hotel in New York City.   Well, I went to websites various New York area Sheratons this morning.  Not one of them indicated that Rep. Weiner was going to give a press conference there this afternoon.  Not a ONE.

2) Anthony Weiner does not look like that.   Go to his website – he has more hair and his complexion is not that dark.   Also, having heard him speak many times, I know he does not talk like the guy in the press conference.  He’s a lot more combative, louder, and funnier.

3) YFrog.

4) Last week, Anthony Weiner said he could not say with “certaintude” that the photo was his.  Many people here rightly assumed that he knew the photo was not his, but couldn’t say so, because the FBI was involved.   Because as you know, if you’ve asked the police to investigate something, that last thing you would want to do is proclaim your innocence.  They hate that.   Anyhow, the Feds surely would have known that Weiner making a statement would have compromised their whole investigation.    And Andrew Breitbart, knowing this, had a press conference with a fake Weiner – so as to keep the FBI off his scent.

5) Who does this help?  Clarence Thomas, Dana Loesch, Dana Bash, and some guy named Wolfe.   Think about it.  Add it up.

6) Normally, during press conferences of this nature, the spouse of the so-called apologetic Congressman is in attendance.   But not this time.   Why not?  Obviously they couldn’t find a lookalike for her.

7) Don’t you think he would have apologized using Tweet Deck?

8) During the press conference, the shadow behind him didn’t always match the image of the person pretending to be Congressman Weiner.

9) I’ve created better fake press conferences using only iMovie, a couple of Apps on my EVO, and a cardboard cutout.

10) Anthony Weiner would never do anything like this.

UPDATE:

An excellent essay from Zombie on the the liberal use of the hypocrisy defense: Why the Hypocrisy Defense is political suicide for liberalism

Consider these two statements from two different potential husbands:

“I know I promised to stop drinking forever, honey, but I fell off the wagon again; please forgive me, and I’ll really really try to stay sober from now on, but no guarantees.”

vs.

“I’m a tertiary alcoholic, a stone-cold drunk; always have been, always will be. You’re not likely to ever see me sober. Take it or leave it.”

If you had to choose, which would you marry?

Obviously, neither is very appealing, but the liberal stance is that the second potential husband is preferable, because at least he’s honest. The conservative stance is: The first potential husband is preferable, because at least he’s trying.

Within the parameters of this “Hypocrisy Defense”…Which do you think the general public prefers: An ideology that at least tries to champion a moral code, but whose adherents sometimes fail to live up to it; or an ideology that by its own definition is inherently immoral and whose adherents don’t even have a moral code to violate?

Read it all at Pajamas Media.

Watch Live: WeinerGate Press Conference

Andrew Breitbart is talking right now…(How’d he get in there?)

Ace relays NY1 report: Staying In Office?

My God, he’s going for sex rehab.

Ugh… Should have figured. “I have a sickness…I like to take pictures of my bulging tighty whities, and washboard abs  and send them to 16 year olds.”

In the old days, we just called such men, perverts. But now, they get to be objects of sympathy and go to fancy rehabs to get all better.

ABC Live Stream, here.

It was supposed to start at 4:00 EST. He’s running a little late.

___

He acknowledges that he hasn’t been honest.

He acknowledges that he took the underwear pic, and he sent it. He wasn’t hacked.

He is close to tears as he says he has hurt his family, including his wife.

He says he’s conducted online relationships with a number of women mostly before he was married, but some after.

He apologizes to his wife and family.

He’s deeply ashamed.

Uhhh? That’s it?

Now he’s taking questions.

He’s not resigning.

UNBELIEVABLE.

He hasn’t mentioned that he’s going  to sex rehab.

He keeps saying that “he accepts responsibility”.  Then QUIT.

Weiner says press conference is to apologize to wife, family, members of the press, he even mentions Breitbart….

He says he treated the behavior as a frivolous  thing….

He’s still treating it as a frivolous thing.

Basically, he’s using the press conference to “express his apologies”, and “accept responsibility”.

So far no tough questions from the media….

He says to “the best of his knowledge”  all the girls were all adults.

This is the Democrat way. Just brazenly plow through a sleazy controversy lying repeatedly to the country. When the lies are no longer tenable, do one “redemptive” press conference where you “take responsibility”, and a sympathetic MFM will let you off the hook.

Disgusting.

Again, he characterizes it as a frivolous exchange of messages between friends…. strangers on twitter?

Oh, someone asks him about that – he says he didn’t have the sense that they were complete strangers – they were people that he had gotten to know on line.

Puhleese.

Huh?  Some guy in the back of the room is yelling, “Were you fully erect, Congressman?”

Press conference over.

ABC female anchors come on and express shock that he didn’t resign.

Good News: House Votes To Defund ACORN Successor Groups

Bad news: It remains to be seen whether the measure will be taken up by the Senate.

Still, good news is good news, and Matthew Vadum brings the glad tidings at the American Spectator:

Last week the U.S. House of Representatives voted to block funding to any remaining ACORN affiliates and to “new” ACORN groups that have sprung up over the last year.

The ACORN network of 370-plus organizations is not actually dead, as I’ve written. It is merely restructuring itself. The lead corporate entity, ACORN, filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy, but the state chapters and other branches of the infamous activist network continue to operate. Other affiliates including vote manufacturers Project Vote and housing bubble generator ACORN Housing continue in business. ACORN Housing changed its name to Affordable Housing Centers of America.

ACORN insiders acknowledge a reconstituted ACORN will emerge in time to help the reelection campaign of President Obama, who used to work for ACORN.

Three Republicans voted against the measure; Robert Aderholt (R-Alabama), Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), and Paul Gosar (R-Arizona).

Vadum is the author of the new book Subversion Inc.: How Obama’s ACORN Red Shirts are Still Terrorizing and Ripping Off American Taxpayers.

Weiner Roast: More Pictures Emerge (Updated)

Photo cleverly titled, “Me and the pussies”.

It was always just a matter of time before Breitbart got the goods. I don’t know how he did it – but he got one of the young women Anthony Weiner was trading emails with, to release the photos he had emailed her.  Another pic,  here.

The woman has indicated that Rep. Weiner allegedly sent the photograph after she asked him to confirm that he was taking photographs contemporaneously, in conjunction with their apparent online communications.

It’s over for Weiner. He has become a liability to the Democrat party. A party elder is going to have to take him aside, and tell him to do what’s best for the party. As for his marriage – well, I don’t even want to speculate, but I don’t know how it survives something like this -  a married man trading pix in emails with young women. These latest pix of his are not terribly racy, but it’s clear to me that his motivation was to prompt these women to send him their racier photos.

Weiner is a grade A creepy narcissist, and a d-bag to boot to be trading pix with young girls on Twitter.

BigGovernment.com and BigJournalism.com will be dropping more photographs and details throughout the day.

Weiner is washed up.

Which isn’t to say that the the Kos kiddies and CJ won’t continue to defend him. But by now, even his staunchest defenders in the MSM (who are not predisposed to believe anything from “smear merchant”, Breitbart) must be eating crow, even as they desperately try to steer the news to other things.

UPDATE IV:

Women coming out of the woodwork, now:

Powerline updates with this little nugget:

Star magazine has another woman–described as a Democratic campaign volunteer who is “middle-aged and from Nevada”–to whom Weiner allegedly sent 200 sexually explicit messages on Facebook. She also says that she never met Weiner, but “once had a 30 minute phone sex session with Weiner on his government provided telephone.” (Maybe he got the idea from Bill Clinton.) I don’t have the same confidence in Star’s editorial standards that I do in Breitbart, so take it for what it is worth. If you follow the link, the quoted messages do have a seeming ring of truth. One wonders, now that the floodgates have opened, whether other women will emerge.

White House Website Now Collecting Emails For Possibly Partisan Purposes

Get updates? Updates on what?

What’s the story that’s getting updated? Will the Obama White House  treat it in the fair, bipartisan manner (its so very known for), before  goes directly to your email address?

Granny Jan was the first to notice this curious change in the White House website, quipping that  “WhiteHouse.gov is now an advertising arm of the Obama campaign”.

Doug Ross thinks the email collection script at Whitehouse.gov may well  be skirting the law:

For a president whose administration has already been held in contempt of court by a federal judge and whose 2008 campaign openly accepted illegal foreign contributions, transforming the White House website into a voter outreach platform shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

It is entirely possible, and perhaps extremely likely, that collection of these emails crosses the line into an illegal use of government property for partisan purposes. The Clinton administration’s Justice Department issued a 1999 memo that outlined prohibited behavior.

Warner Todd Huston at Publius Forum adds:

Too true. Even if these email addresses are not used to directly promote Obama’s campaign efforts, the fact that emails are going out under his name during an election campaign indirectly promotes him anyway.

***

This level of personal contact was unheard of during past presidential campaigns. Won’t constant emails “from the White House” help sway voters Obama’s way whether they have direct appeals in them from his campaign or not?

Again, who is watching to make sure that Obama’s staff does not *cough* accidentally *cough* take all these email addresses that were meant only for the “White House updates” and put them in with his campaign email database? Is anyone watching to make sure Obama is not breaking campaign laws?

Maybe some enterprising White House reporter could bring this up at the next briefing with Jay Carney? If you close your eyes, you can almost hear him disdainfully dismissing the concern as a “distraction’, right now.

Two questions need to be answered. One, where are these harvested emails going? If a single one of them ends up on the Obama campaign’s email list, that’s illegal. If they’re not going to his campaign, where are they going? I can see a scenario where they’re keeping the emails in some official WH list that’s “separate” from the campaign list for the sake of appearances, but in actuality will end up carrying the president’s re-elect message. Message timing and language will end up coinciding with that of the Obama campaign. And, they will have collected some useful information about the voters’ issue priorities via the self-selection, information they can and presumably will hand over to the actual campaign staff.

MoveOn Caption Winner Announced (Oh Dear)

I love it when Democrats stage  little PR  stunts/contests that are meant to poke fun at the right. The results are always, ALWAYS groan inducing. It turns out, jokes require an iota of truth and, well…humor  in order to be funny….and since the drones don’t have that going for them, their attempts at humor fall drastically short.

Early in Obama’s presidency, the DNC website hosted an anti-Rush slogan contest. Because, as I’m sure you remember, Rush had had the temerity to say, “I hope he fails”, meaning the president. He was absolutely right to say that, of course. As we watch the economy slouch ever closer to the cliff, most of us on the right  wish that Obama had failed in most, if not all of the agenda items he managed to push through either legislatively, or by executive fiat. But that’s neither here nor there.

The winnah of that particular contest was: Americans didn’t vote for a Rush to failure….  {{{groan}}}

Last summer, the DNC thought it would try to be snarky on Twitter by starting WWRD? (What would Republicans do?) hashtag.

As I remember it, unintentional hilarity ensued:

This morning, the House Democratic Caucus tweeted: Scary exercise: What Would Republicans Do (#WWRD) w/a majority in Congress? Shed light on R policies: suggest your own!

Democrats followed with three posts, saying that Joe Barton “would side w/ Big Oil,” Republicans “want to end funding for PBS and NPR,” and that Republicans “want to repeal HCR consumer protections.”  {{{groan}}}

Soon Republican House members bombarded Twitter using the hashtag with much better results.

More than 11 Republican lawmakers have responded, including House Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.). Reps. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) and Peter Roskam (R-Ill.) turned the discussion to the budget.

McHenry tweeted: @HouseDemocrats What Would Repubs Do w/ majority in Congress? Well, pass a budget for one… “If u can’t budget, u can’t govern” #WWRD

Roskam continued: #WWRD? Does your family make a budget every year? @HouseDemocrats just decided it was too hard to make one for USA in 2010

All this is to set you up for this latest Dem lameness, via iOWNTHEWORLD:

MoveOn.org Caption Contest

And the winnah is....

“My heart is broken! Why don’t the seniors realize that we need the money that they have paid into Medicare to help the wealthy keep their 3 or 4 homes?” {{{GROAN}}}

I wonder what second place was? Something like?:

“Wah! I’m so bummed! I wanted to see the old bag land with a big bloody splatter after Paul Ryan wheeled her off the cliff, but they didn’t show it!  Seeing old people die grizzly deaths  makes me happy.  I’m so disappointed right now, wah!”

Third place?:

“I saw another ‘Tax the rich’ bumpersticker, today, darn it! The proles are on to us!”

Put on your moonbat hat and see if you can come up with something equally unfunny.

Sean Hannity interviewed Sarah Palin on his show, Friday night.

Right off the bat he asked her about the unintentionally funny Martin Bashir’s comments about her use of  United States flag graphics on her  bus, and got this from her:

‘What a goof.”

(Btw, where was Bashir when Obama fans were waving flags with Obama’s face and insignia imprinted on them in 2008/2009? That actually was a clear violation of the flag code. We heard bupkis about that from progs.)

He then got into her meeting with Donald Trump, and what she thinks about a third party. Her answers may surprise you:

Part One

Part Two:

Martha MacCallum, had talk show hosts Jason Lewis from the right, and Nancy Skinner from the left on her Fox show, Friday,  to talk about the 2012 presidential race.

Happy hour had apparently started early for Skinner….either that, or she was straining so hard to put a happy face on Obama’s economy that she just looked loopy trying to explain it…

Bipartisan Congress Delivers Stunning Rebuke To Obama on Libya mission

The Washington Times reports:

Crossing party lines to deliver a stunning rebuke to the commander in chief, the vast majority of the House voted Friday for resolutions telling President Obama he has broken the constitutional chain of authority by committing U.S. troops to the international military mission in Libya.

In two votes — on competing resolutions that amounted to legislative lectures of Mr. ObamaCongress escalated the brewing constitutional clash over whether he ignored the founding document’s grant of war powers by sending U.S. troops to aid in enforcing a no-fly zone and naval blockade of Libya.

The resolutions were non-binding, and only one of them passed, but taken together, roughly three-quarters of the House voted to put Mr. Obama on notice that he must explain himself or else face future consequences, possibly including having funds for the war cut off.

“He has a chance to get this right. If he doesn’t, Congress will exercise its constitutional authority and make it right,” said House Speaker John A. Boehner, the Ohio Republican who wrote the resolution that passed, 268-145, and sets a two-week deadline for the president to deliver the information the House is seeking.

The President’s only allies were Dem leaders, who said the resolution wasn’t ” helpful as the president tries to aid U.S. allies’ efforts”.

Yesterday, a patient Jay Carney rebuked White House reporter, Keith Koffler  for daring to question the wisdom of Obama’s Libya exercise:

As you can see, Jay got a little demeaning, suggesting I’m expressing opinions and proposing that I must have been on vacation last time he answered the question. If only it were so!

Anyway, it’s an old press secretary tactic to try to avoid a tough question by attacking the interlocutor, so I don’t take it personally, although I doubt Jay like me very much. But I do like that he calls on me even though he knows I won’t be lobbing a softball his way.

MORE:

From  Allahpundit:

Anyway, now that that’s done, the House resolution can go about quietly dying in the Senate and being thoroughly ignored by Obama. If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll get an indignant Rand Paul floor speech out of it, but I wouldn’t raise my expectations any higher than that. Only one thing is certain, my friends: That upcoming round of golf between Obama and Boehner is going to be even more awkward than thought.

I was thinking the same thing.

Video: Rep. Joe Walsh “Disgusted and Discouraged” After Meeting With Geithner

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner met with House freshmen in the Capitol on Thursday to discuss the standoff over the debt ceiling.

The Washington Post reported:

The session lasted nearly an hour, and Geithner told reporters afterward that he is confident that a default crisis will be avoided and that the two sides will reach an accord on a long-term fiscal plan.

One freshman Congressman, Joe Walsh (Il-8), wasn’t as optimistic in his appraisal of the meeting, and expressed his disgust with Geithner in this video:

Walsh issued this statement, yesterday, on why he skipped the President’s high profile debt ceiling meeting with Republicans  at the White House on Wednesday:

“Yesterday, House Republicans went to the White House to discuss the debt ceiling with President Obama. I did not go. The way I saw it, the entire purpose of the meeting, initiated by the President, was to convince the American people that he is engaged on this issue. I did not want to be a prop in his stage play.

“I give my Republican Leadership loads of credit in showing good faith and accepting the President’s offer to meet. But this President is not serious when it comes to solving the debt ceiling debacle, nor is he committed to solving our debt crisis. If he were actually serious about getting something done, he would have met quietly with a few Republicans and a few Democrats in a private conference room somewhere, without any media. He would have rolled up his sleeves and tried to hammer out some agreement. Instead, he invited the entire Republican Conference to a big lecture and let the media in on it.

“This President is not committed to solving our debt crisis. He’s a smart man who has a different vision. His big government policies are bankrupting this and future generations, and suffocating small businesses and the entrepreneurial spirit of this county. Just look at yesterday’s continuing slog of negative economic news. Things will only turn around when Washington is forced to spend less than it takes in. And when we cut and simplify taxes so businesses can grow again, be competitive and hire people once more.

“The entire meeting yesterday was a political exercise with the goal of showing the media and the country that his President is doing something. I had no interest in being part of such a stunt. I’d rather actually do something.”

It’s nice to see that not all Republican congressmen are willing to be bit players in the President’s phony dog and pony show.

Weiner Finally Calls The Cops – Not On Hacker – But On Reporter Wanting Answers

Good lord…talk about bad optics. Weiner must think that the private firm he hired to “investigate” the hacking/prank/? is going to clean this whole thing up for him. That’s the way it’s supposed to work.

But, as Ace notes -  it’s getting harder and harder for anyone with a brain to believe him.

I think people are freaking out because he’s so obviously guilty that people are starting to think, “No one can be thisguilty. Even Charles Manson is less guilty than this. I’m being set up. This is some big master scheme to draw us all in.”

Relax. He’s not that smart, either.

He looks guilty because he’s guilty.

He acts guilty because he’s guilty.

He talks guilty because he’s guilty.

He doesn’t call the cops on the hackers because he’s guilty.

He calls the cops on reporters because he’s guilty.

He doesn’t deny the picture is his because he’s guilty.

This is not complicated. This is not Twin Peaks.

Indeed, even Tingles isn’t buying Weiner’s “Strange” stories, and his “juvenile behavior” is embarrassing Dems

CNN’s Jack Cafferty is asking  Can Weiner survive this scandal?

Apparently oblivious to shame and embarrassment, the Kos Kiddies, Charles Johnson and a handful of anonymous basement dwellers are the only ones left spinning the absurd “He wuz Hack3d!” narrative…. which believe it or not, now involves Clarance Thomas.

These are the particulars of the latest event, but look at the big picture. We see a steady flow of similar crimes – illegal taping, attempts to tap a Senator’s phone, now intrusion into a Congressman’s social media profiles, and the one thing in common? Andrew Breitbart, who is operating a continuing criminal enterprise as defined by the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act aka RICO.

And now this gang, this conservative media mafia, has done a hit on a U.S. Congressman, and it’s one carefully timed to protect corrupt Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas from scrutiny, and the timing of the delivery was flawless. Congressman Wiener would be all over accountability for Thomas, except that @DanaBashCNN and @RandiKayeCNN are all over … dare I say it? They’re On. His. Dick.

This conservative crime wave isn’t going to just go away. As we’ve seen with Anthony Weiner, any individual who troubles them, even if that person by a United States Congressman, is going to get whacked.

We really need a way inside this thing…

No, that was not satire.

The Hayride  explored the gross double standard that is always at play whenever there’s a political sex scandal:

..let’s remember that the NY-26 race the Democrats have established as some sort of referendum on the Ryan plan came open because a Republican congressman sent a picture of his naked torso – not his private parts – to some woman not his wife over the internet. Of course, Chris Lee has some shame and he decided to beg out of public life as a result. Which is what disgraced Republican politicians – or at least a good portion of them – do.

Weiner isn’t going to resign. Charlie Rangel didn’t, Barney Frank hasn’t, Maxine Waters refuses to, Bill Clinton certainly didn’t. Democrats plow right through their scandals, whether sexual or otherwise.

And of course, this brings up the age-old issue. Why is it fatal for a Republican to have a sex scandal (or some other kind), and not so much for a Democrat?

The Left will quickly tell you the difference is “hypocrisy.” As though there is some particular difference between the two sides in which hypocrites abound on the Right but not on the Left.

This has always driven me nuts.

Just because you profess some standards of behavior, as Republican voters typically demand of their candidates, that you can’t always adhere to doesn’t invalidate those standards. We KNOW that what is called “family values” works better as a matter of general practice in ordering a successful society. This isn’t arguable – honesty, work ethic, marital fidelity, a two-parent family, the monogamous heterosexual lifestyle and so on – those things make for more successful living for most people than their alternatives. And conservatives generally ask – and not unreasonably – that candidates seeking to represent them embody those virtues we understand to be our societal best practices.

That doesn’t mean everybody has to be on board with every facet of what social conservatives promote. It means there is value in attempting to steer as many people as possible into as many of the commonly accepted virtues as possible. I favor using the culture to further that process rather than legislation, and that’s difficult to do considering the filth that Hollywood repeatedly showers on us. Regardless, those virtues constitute a standard of behavior which has intrinsic value. And those who seek to lead us can better do so when they’re capable of living that standard.

But if you’ve got high standards, guess what? They’re harder to meet. That means folks held up to them are going to fail, and sometimes spectacularly. This stuff isn’t easy.

And that means Republicans get annihilated by scandals – because Republican voters enforce standards and Republican politicians accept them. But Democrats generally don’t. Democrats get a kick out of calling Republicans hypocrites when they don’t meet standards that neither voters nor politicians on their own side of the aisle even pursue much of the time. Which is why so loathsome and corrupt an individual as Teddy Kennedy could die as “the lion of the Senate” or a Dollar Bill Jefferson would run for re-election amid certain indications of gross misconduct which ultimately landed him in prison while Chris Lee is gone for dabbling – albeit badly – in online dating or Larry Craig had to resign over reports of creepy, if not exactly explicit, conduct in a men’s bathroom.

I’m not attempting to excuse Republicans who fail in this regard. The Chris Lees, John Ensigns, Mark Sanfords and David Vitters of the world weren’t unfairly held up to scrutiny. To those whom much is given, much is expected and so on. Vitter chose to fight through his problems and he’s managed to largely get past them, while the others are finished politically.

What bothers me here is the total lack of shame. Maxine Waters had none when it was obvious she and her husband were padding their wallets with bank bailouts. Rangel had none when it was obvious he was cheating on his taxes. Frank had none amid multiple scandals involving sex and money. Ted Kennedy had none during his countless shameful displays. And so on. And this pattern has now brought us Weiner, whose complete lack of humility and humiliation might even dwarf the rest of the gang.

It seems as though what’s unsaid here by Weiner and those of his ilk is “well, at least I’m not a hypocrite.” But here’s a news flash – it doesn’t matter whether you’re a hypocrite. It matters that you’re a piece of crap.

That is the piece I wanted to write in my “Tale Of Two Sex Scandals” post  a couple days ago, but I instead let the pictures tell the story.

Summer vacay means less blogging time for mom.

I’m afraid blogging is going to be slap-dash, intermittent, and link-heavy to other peoples’ superior blogging until late August.

Video: Van Jones Says Paul Ryan Worse Than al Qaeda

Obama’s former Green Czar, who was forced to resign in September, 2009, amidst controversy over his past far left radicalism, gave a lecture on the meaning of patriotism to adoring moonbats at the Yes Magazine Anniversary Ball.

I’d say Van Jones just jumped  the shark, but he jumped the shark a long, long time ago – Sept. 12, 2001 to be exact, when he protested against the United States the day after we were hit by al Qaeda. For this man give anyone  a lecture on patriotism,  is almost too much for a normal person to take.
