The Right Scoop: Michelle Malkin to DC: We will not sit down and shut up! No more!

Michelle Malkin was awesome tonight, delivering a healthy serving of smackdown to the DC establishment folks. Here’s the money line:

It’s bad enough that you have the entire leftist establishment and Democrat Party leadership likening the Tea Party activists, grass-roots, dedicated fiscal conservatives out there who’ve been holding both party’s feet to the fire, and then having them smeared as terrorists and hostage-takers and people who are pointing the gun to the head of America. Look, it’s Washington that has pointed a gun to the head, not just of taxpayers but of future generations. That’s what we’re fighting for. We’re fighting on principle and there are elites in Washington that would rather have us, as they have always had us do, sit down and shut up. No more!

Hot Air: IBD: Boehner 1.1 beats nothing at all:

As John Boehner attempts to whip his caucus for a vote this morning on version 1.1 of his debt-ceiling bill, the Speaker gets some support from Investors Business Daily.  It’s not enthusiastic support, mind you, but IBD’s editors seem to feel that the only thing worse than passion Boehner 1.1 is not passing Boehner 1.1:

President Obama may not have a plan for resolving the debt crisis, but he definitely has a goal — to shift blame for the lousy economy onto Republicans’ shoulders. Above all else, the GOP must not let that happen.

When House Speaker John Boehner released his latest plan to cut spending in exchange for raising the debt ceiling, attacks from Obama and his fellow Democrats were to be expected.

The attacks from the GOP side, however, are short-sighted at best. They risk giving Obama what he wants more than anything — a way to weasel out of responsibility for the economic mess his policies have produced.

As Charles Krauthammer did on Wednesday, the conservative IBD editorial board urges Republicans to take a long view…

“It’s Congress that does the spending. The president is prohibited to do that. He would be making the spending decisions … Clearly that’s unconstitutional.”

National Journal: Boehner Measures Support for Republican Plan, Headed for Evening Vote:

In the high-stakes effort to reduce the federal deficit and raise the debt ceiling, House Republicans drew from a famous Notre Dame football pre-game tradition behind closed doors on Thursday before a potential cliffhanger vote on Speaker John Boehner’s plan. Several attendees described the session as a pep rally of sorts as Boehner sought support to pass his bill.

“Let’s go out there and kick the —- out of them!” shouted Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., according to lawmakers in the room. Members said Kelly brought a Notre Dame football sign reminiscent of the “Play Like A Champion” banner the college players slap before hitting the gridiron.

AP: S&P official: Credible deficit cuts being proposed

The head of a top credit rating agency says some of the deficit-cutting plans Congress is considering could lower the U.S. debt burden to a level that would allow the country to keep its triple-A credit rating.

Standard & Poor’s President Deven Sharma told a congressional panel Wednesday that previous reports indicating Congress would need to make $4 trillion in deficit cuts over 10 years to retain the top credit rating were inaccurate.

Sharma declined to be specific over how much deficit cutting would be needed to win S&P’s approval. But he said some of the plans being discussed were in the range of what the agency thinks would be necessary for a credible attack on the U.S. deficit problems.

Katie Pavlich, Townhall: Obama Talked About “Gun Tracing” in 2009:

…President Obama specifically asked Eric Holder to do a “complete review” of “current gun enforcement operations,” in April 2009, yet Eric Holder and President Obama deny they authorized or knew anything specific about Operation Fast and Furious until 2011? It seems too “coincidental” that the President of the United States was talking about “ballistics and gun tracing” in April 2009, when Operation Fast and Furious started in Fall 2009, especially when the agencies he listed in the 2009 press conference, DHS, DOJ, ATF, “everybody involved,” match up with Newell’s admission about which agencies came up with the idea for Fast and Furious in the first place, which included, as stated above, DEA, IRS, ATF, DHS, and the Obama DOJ.

Jihad Watch: Egypt: Muslims attack Christians over the installation of a church bell

“Muslim Attack on Christians in Egypt Provoked By Installation of Church Bell,” by Mary Abdelmassih for the Assyrian International News Agency, July 28:

(AINA) — An exchange of harsh words on July 25 between Ruth, a Christian woman, and Gassem Fouad, a Muslim man who had parked his tricycle in front of her home, escalated into assault by the man on Ruth and other Christian villagers, and the arrest of one Copt. After Ruth, who is 5 months pregnant, was assaulted, a Muslim mob waited for Coptic farmers to return from the fields, where they were intercepted and beaten with iron rods and pipes.

Security forces managed to contain the situation.

Six Christians, including Ruth and her sister-in-law Hannan, were hospitalized with concussions, head injuries and broken limbs. No Muslim was injured.

Meanwhile,  the US is helping Muslim Egyptians refurbish their Mosques with millions in taxpayer dollars.

Ann Coulter, Human Events: New York Times Reader Kills Dozens in Norway:

True, in one lone entry on Breivik’s gaseous 1,500-page manifesto, “2083: A European Declaration of Independence,” he calls himself “Christian.” But unfortunately he also uses a great number of other words to describe himself, and these other words make clear that he does not mean “Christian” as most Americans understand the term. (Incidentally, he also cites The New York Times more than a half-dozen times.)

Had anyone at the Times actually read Breivik’s manifesto, they would have seen that he uses the word “Christian” as a handy moniker to mean “European, non-Islamic” — not a religious Christian or even a vague monotheist. In fact, at several points in his manifesto, Breivik stresses that he has a beef with Christians for their soft-heartedness. (I suppose that’s why the Times is never worried about a “Christian backlash.”)

A casual perusal of Breivik’s manifesto clearly shows that he uses the word “Christian” similarly to the way some Jewish New Yorkers use it to mean “non-Jewish.” In this usage, Christopher Hitchens and Madalyn Murray O’Hair are “Christians.”

Michelle Malkin: Report: Another jihadist plot against American soldiers on American soil; Alert gun dealer, local police blew the whistle:

At least one U.S. military serviceman has been arrested after raising concerns over another possible attack on Fort Hood, Fox News has learned exclusively.

Pvt. Nasser Jason Abdo, an AWOL soldier from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, was arrested by the Killeen Police Department near Fort Hood and remains in custody there. Authorities, however, will not say if Abdo is the one who raised security concerns.

Abdo was allegedly found with explosives and jihadist materials at the time of his arrest, a senior Army source confirms to Fox News. He was arrested at around 2 p.m. Wednesday after someone called authorities to report a suspicious individual.

Noemie Emery, Washington Examiner: An Officer and Gentleman:

Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., is an officer and a gentleman, a career soldier elected to Congress in the 2010 midterms.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., is a shrew and a feminist (perhaps we repeat ourselves), and also a demagogue, fond of blaming her foes for wanting to starve little children.

When she attacked West last week when he was not in the chamber, it set off a clash of two worlds. Wasserman Schultz belongs to (and is stuck in) the mid-1970s, steeped in the brews of groupthink and victimhood, believing pro-lifers wage wars against women and that pro-life women aren’t “women” at all.

West hails from any time between the Crusades and the late 19th century, and is the kind of officer played in films by Sean Connery, rash now and then, and quick on the trigger, but respected and loved by his men.

He descends from the honor code of the warrior, in which personal honor is everything; she from the dishonor code of identity politics, in which an attack on one person becomes a de facto attack on any sex, creed or color the person belongs to, unless the person doesn’t believe in identity politics, in which case all bets must be off.

It is sexist to criticize Wasserman Schultz, but not Sarah Palin; anti-Semitic to criticize Wasserman Schultz, but not Eric Cantor; racist to criticize Barack Obama, but not Allen West.

And indeed, the attacks upon West by Wasserman Schultz’s defenders seem out of the source book for race-baiting slanders decried by the left in times past.

Good stuff. Ann Coulter notes how the ability to hold two completely contradictory opinions at the same time is a characteristic of liberal mob mentality in her outstanding latest book, Demonic. If you haven’t gotten your copy, yet, you really should. It explains so much.

Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama: The good guys need our help!:

Remember the brave Republican State Senators who stood with Gov. Scott Walker and passed real budget reforms in Wisconsin?  In 12 days they face Democrat-backed RECALL elections.  And if just 3 of those Republicans lose, then Democrats will take control of the Senate and be able to block Gov. Scott Walker’s agenda completely.  We must stand with the good guys in this critical hour.

Fox News Channel’s Dick Morris put out an urgent alert this week calling attention to the stakes of this hugely important battle that will impact elections across the nation.  Here an excerpt from Dick Morris’ Action Alert:

You can contribute online – HERE.And Fox News explained in another report that liberals have raised millions more than conservatives in these RECALL campaigns.  Please see this extremely important report below:

These elections will take place in just 12 days. We must raise the money to fight back against Barack Obama’s “Organizing for America”, MoveOn.org, and the public employee unions.  We here at The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama are trying to equalize the funding discrepancy.  You can help us by making a contribution.

Joy McCann at The Conservative Commune: “I Quit. Thank You.”

We’ve talked about the Obama Administration’s war on energy, and how destructive it is: energy is the lifeblood of the economy, and the effect on jobs has been drastic and destructive.

But what we haven’t seen before is a large-scale desertion of enterprise by those who are tired of being demonized for their creativity. With the deck stacked against them, more and more job-creators are simply throwing in the towel.

And who can blame them? We’ve seen, for example, the villification of David and Charles Koch. The President, who avails himself of Air Force One whenever he pleases, likes to verbally assault corporations—especially those that own jets. Executives at GE have skated on the verbal abuse so far, but that may be due to the company’s ownership of MSNBC—or, perhaps, its coziness with the White House.

Energy companies shouldn’t have to prostitute themselves to the executive branch of the government merely to avoid being denounced from the bully pulpit. No organization should have to do that.

Unmitigated Arrogance And Gall On Display

The grumpy old guy has gone off the reservation again.

John McCain, is quoted in the New York Times berating the Tea Party Republicans for having the temerity to not play the Washington game of doing the same old thing, and declaring it something different.

Mr. McCain mocked Tea Party-allied Republicans in the House for believing — wrongly, he said — that President Obama and Democrats will get the blame for a default if Republicans refuse to increase the nation’s debt ceiling.

By that flawed logic, “Democrats would have no choice but to pass a balanced budget amendment and reform entitlements and the Tea Party Hobbits could return to Middle Earth,” he said, quoting a Wall Street Journal editorial.

“This is the kind of crack political thinking that turned Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell into G.O.P. nominees,” he jeered, referring to two losing Tea Party candidates for the Senate in 2010.

——-

Mr. McCain assailed the conservative Republicans in the House who are threatening passage of the debt cutting plan by the House speaker, John A. Boehner, calling their political logic “bizarro” and noting sarcastically that they have only been in office a short time.

“Maybe some people who have only been in this body for six or seven months or so really believe that,” he said. “Others know better. Others know better.”

Shame on you, Senator.  You are part of the greatest deliberative body in the world, and rather than making your case and persuading your colleagues (and the American Public), instead you belittle and insult your colleagues who stand firm on doing what they were sent there to do, which was stop the madness.

Instead you give us the same arrogant condescension that we despise from the Democrats.  “We know better than you.  Shut up and do what you’re told.”

I think someone’s been in D.C. long enough.

US Tax Dollars Funding Cairo Mosque Makeovers

You heard  right. While Obama threatens to withhold Social Security checks from our own senior citizens, his State Dept is funding the refurbishing of  Mosques in Egypt through USAID, while their Islamic extremists laugh at us:

WSBTV reports:

A Channel 2 Action News investigation found that the State Department is sending millions of dollars to save mosques overseas. This investment has received criticism as the United States makes an effort to slash nearly $4 trillion in government spending.Plenty of outrage following the announcement made Thursday afternoon by a government commission that suggested huge cuts to the budget, including eliminating the interest education for home mortgage. This juxtaposed with United States investing millions to refurbish mosques as a good-will effort in Muslim countries has upset many taxpayer groups.

ATF Phoenix Manager shared Fast and Furious Info with White House (With Videos)

email graphic via Sipsey Street Irregulars

ATF Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix office, Bill Newell was squirming on the hot seat in Tuesday’s Fast and Furious hearing on Capitol Hill. As CBS News’ Sharyl Attkisson reports, Newell admitted to corresponding with White House National Security Director, Kevin O’Reilly about the ATF’s gunrunning operations:

At a lengthy hearing on ATF’s controversial gunwalking operation today, a key ATF manager told Congress he discussed the case with a White House National Security staffer as early as September 2010. The communications were between ATF Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix office, Bill Newell, and White House National Security Director for North America Kevin O’Reilly. Newell said the two are longtime friends. The content of what Newell shared with O’Reilly is unclear and wasn’t fully explored at the hearing. It’s the first time anyone has publicly stated that a White House official had any familiarity with ATF’s operation Fast and Furious, which allowed thousands of weapons to fall into the hands of suspected traffickers for Mexican drug cartels in an attempt to gain intelligence.

It’s unknown as to whether O’Reilly shared information with anybody else at the White House. Congressional investigators obtained an email from Newell to O’Reilly in September of last year in which Newell began with the words: “you didn’t get this from me.” “What does that mean,” one member of Congress asked Newell, ” ‘you didn’t get this from me?’ ” “Obviously he was a friend of mine,” Newell replied, “and I shouldn’t have been sending that to him.”

Issa tried to get Newell to admit that he allowed thousands of guns to walk.

One of the whistleblowers,  Special Agent Canino, whom Newell claimed knew about the operation,  testified that “at no time EVER did he know that ATF agents were following known suspected gun traffickers (one of whom bought 700 guns)…..never, ever would I imagine that we would let that happen…..I had no clue that we were allowing these guys to operate like this……there was no interdiction to start any case…” At the end of this video, Newell was asked about his correspondence with White House National Security Director for North America, Kevin O’Reilly, who has been described by Sipsey Street Irregular’s sources as  “a ghost,”  “sheep-dipped,”  “a doctrinaire liberal”,   a “snake in a suit,” and a “sociopath” with the nickname, “The Scorpion,” (as in the story of The Frog and the Scorpion). Sounds like just the sort of charmer who belongs in this White House:

Rep. Chaffetz demanded to know when Newell finally realized he was allowing guns to walk. He couldn’t get a straight answer because Newell claims he didn’t see it that way…

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who has had direct and indirect experience with the ATF for 10 years, focused on why it was conducting the operation in the jacked-up manner it did, “Why do it this way? It was never going to work!”

Video: Cantor Blasts Bam: “Stop your policies that are wrecking the American economy”

Cantor describes how Obama got “agitated and upset” when he asked that he come off his insistence that we extend the credit limit of the country beyond the election. “What does that have to do with the fiscal health of the country that we’re trying to address?….” Cantor wondered.

That’s when His Highness got snippy and intimidating – brow-beating Cantor with his bizarre “Don’t call my bluff” comment.

Amazingly, Cantor comes right out and says the awful truth about the man who is leading our country to ruin:  “The president doesn’t like people who disagree with him on policy grounds”, and his policies are “wrecking the American economy”:

Video: Someone In The MSM Finally Gets The Oslo Killer Story Right

And surprisingly, it’s Bill O’Reilly, who’s usually slow to pick up on emerging news that counters the media narrative.

The MSM has been quick to jump on the supposition that Oslo mass murderer Anders Breivik was a Christian extremist,  pushing the meme to the extreme in story after story without a shred of evidence to back it up.

O’Reilly smelled a rat, and called the MSM out:

Text via Gateway Pundit:

Now, on Sunday, the “New York Times” headlined “As Horrors Emerged, Norway Charges Christian extremist”. A number of other news organizations like the “LA Times” and Reuters also played up the Christian angle. But Breivik is not a Christian. That’s impossible. No one believing in Jesus commits mass murder. The man might have called himself a Christian on the net, but he is certainly not of that faith.

Also Breivik is not attached to any church, and in fact has criticized the Protestant belief system in general. The Christian angle came from a Norwegian policeman not from any fact finding. Once again, we can find no evidence, none, that this killer practiced Christianity in any way.

So why is the angle being played up? Two reasons: First, the liberal media wants to make an equivalency between the actions of Breivik and the Oklahoma City bomber Tim McVeigh and al Qaeda. The left wants you to believe that fundamentalists Christians are a threat just like crazy jihadists are.

In fact, in the “New York Times” today an analysis piece says that some believe we have overreacted to the Muslim threat in the world. Of course, that’s absurd. Jihadists have killed tens of thousands of people all over the world. The Taliban, Iran and elements in Pakistan use governmental power to support terrorism by Muslims. But the left-wing press wants to compare nuts like Breivik and McVeigh to state-sponsored terrorism and worldwide jihad.

Again, dishonest and insane.

Indeed, it appears that the words “Christian” and “Conservative” were added to Breivik’s Facebook Page Jul 22, 2011 23:52:36. Is that not how lefties roll?

The MSM has been quick to implicate anti-Jihad bloggers like Robert Spencer and Pamela Gellar in the mass murders, because of a passing reference in  the killer’s 1,516-page manifesto, but anti-Jihadis abhor violence by definition. SIOE (Stop Islamisation of Europe) had barred suspected Norway Shooter from it’s forum because he was a neo-Nazi. Obama was referenced favorably, as well, not that anyone in their right minds would blame him for the killings. The Killer was apparently a Lizardoid, too, but chances are good that Charles Johnson will escape scrutiny from the accusing eyes of the MSM now that he’s become a member in good standing of the Democratic Media Complex.

Via Atlas Shrugs, Robert Spencer wrote:

“This disgusting neo-Nazi, excluded from SIOE because of his Nazi ties, epitomizes the disrespect for life and the contempt for humane values that terrorism embodies, and that we have dedicated our lives to resisting. Whether the challenge to human rights and to the dignity of the human person comes from neo-Nazis or Islamic supremacists, we are determined to continue to resist it, and to do everything in our power to defend the principles of freedom upon which the best of human civilization has always been based.”

What more needs to be said?

Video: Obama’s Class Warfare Speech and John Boehner’s Response: “Those Days Are Over”

Obama “took his case to the American people”, yet AGAIN  tonight in Washington, repeating the same BS he’s been spewing for weeks, while  trying to set himself up as the “adult at the table”. Is this the same guy who told Mitch McConnell; “The only bottom line that I have is that we have to extend the debt ceiling through the next election”?

Adult at the table, my a$$.

He started off by immediately blaming George Bush for the “deficit”, confusing deficit with debt, while pretending that his insane spending spree for the past two and a half years didn’t happen. How mature. He then made his case for taxing the rich (people who make more than $250,000) even more than they are already taxed, which is key to his “balanced” approach to reducing the debt. Keep in mind, Republicans have made it abundantly clear that they have no problem with tax reforms that include closing corporate tax loopholes. Obama’s speech gives you the impression Republicans are fighting for corporate welfare, which is a disgusting lie:

DavidLimbaugh tweeted: Boehner’s really got a tough job, but (not) nearly as tough as Obama insiders who have to lie to him about how his BS resonated tonight.
