How Many Lies Did Obama Tell At His Twitter Townhall?

I have no idea, I’m just askin’. I didn’t watch, but you know there had to be at least a few good whoppers.

Here’s at least one , according to Weasel Zippers:

“We froze federal pay for federal workers for two years. Now, that wasn’t real popular, as you might imagine, among federal workers. On the other hand, we were able to do that precisely because we wanted to prevent layoffs, and we wanted to make sure that we sent a signal that everybody’s going to have to make some sacrifices, including federal workers. By the way, people who work in the White House, they’ve had their pay frozen since I came in, our high-wage folks. So, they haven’t had a raise in two and a half years, and that’s appropriate because a lot of ordinary folks out there haven’t either. In fact, they’ve had their pay cut in some cases.”

Actually…

The White House released its annual salary report last week, and as usual, it’s nice to work for Barack Obama: Most staffers who were there for more than a year got a salary bump. A bigger one than you did.

The last time we checked in on White House salaries, we found that an astonishing 75% of continuing staffers got raises from 2009 to 2010—a huge number given the fact that, according to compensation experts, most companies had skipped routine raises that year in reaction to the economic crisis that the White House was busy failing to solve. This time around—from 2010 to 2011—the ratio is a little less dramatic. Of the 270 White House staffers who have been there for more than a year, 146—or 54%—received raises. The average salary increase was 8%. If you look at only staffers who got raises, the average increase was twice that.

Obama says, “by the way, people who work in the White House, they’ve had their pay frozen since I came in, our high-wage folks”.

21 White House staffers receive the maximum allowable salary of $172,200 a year, so I guess you could technically say, those “high wage folks” have had their salaries frozen.

Over the Independence Day weekend, the administration released its 2011 annual report to Congress on White House staff salaries. While economic data for the rest of America remains bleak, the financial outlook for Obama flacks looks rosier than the president’s complexion after his latest round of golf.

In total, President Obama’s 454 employees at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. will rake in $37 million. That’s up $4 million from the income of George W. Bush’s staff in 2008, back when the unemployment rate was three points lower, the federal government workforce was 12 percent smaller and the massive deficit was still measured in hundreds of billions, not trillions. One in three of Obama’s employees makes more than $100,000 a year.

One of the most notorious Communist front groups ever was the American Peace Mobilization, created by the Soviet Comintern in concert with CPUSA, organized in the summer of 1940. Congress would rightly dub the American Peace Mobilization “one of the most seditious organizations which ever operated in the United States,” “one of the most notorious and blatantly Communist fronts ever organized in this country,” and an “instrument of the Communist Party line.”

The group’s goal was to keep America from going to war against Hitler or even providing Lend-Lease to nations like Britain being savaged by Hitler. The group took this position because, at the time, Stalin’s USSR was allied with Hitler. It was the Soviet line, and the ringleaders of the group were pro-Soviet patriots.

Among the antiwar rallies organized by the American Peace Mobilization was the 1st Illinois Conference of the National Negro Congress, held November 9–10, 1940, on the corner of 38th and Wabash streets in Chicago, held at the Wabash YMCA. Listed on the surviving letterhead for the event were several prominent American Communists, as well as endorsers like Frank Marshall Davis and, listed directly under Davis, Robert Taylor. Though no middle initial appears, this is almost certainly the same Robert R. Taylor who was Valerie Jarrett’s grandfather.

Robert R. Taylor of Chicago also appears in the major 1944 congressional report “Investigation of Un-American Propaganda Activities in the United States,” done by the Special Committee on Un-American Activities, House of Representatives, 78th Congress. On pages 609 and 2,100 of the voluminous report is Robert R. Taylor of Chicago. Taylor was flagged because of his role in the “Arrangements Committee” that organized the July 1939 Chicago Conference on Race Relations, which included as leaders several top national Communist figures.

Is it time to worry about  Agenda 21? The Daily Caller  has a report out, today, that suggests, yes: UN environmental initiative is the Tea Party’s new nightmare

Agenda 21 is a UN initiative that 178 governments at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) adopted in 1992 under the auspices of saving the environment. It bills itself as a coordinated plan of action to help nations and local government ensure “sustainability.”

“Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations of the United Nations System, Governments, and Major Groups in every area in which human impacts on the environment,” the U.N. website explains.

While the aim sounds innocent enough, Tea Partiers argue that it is just a means to an end. The end, they say, is the usurpation of American sovereignty, a planned economy and redistribution of the wealth.

The media may be quick to dismiss this as the breathless caterwauling of a minority of Americans, but American Policy Center president Tom DeWeese says not so fast. According to DeWeese, these concerns are legitimate and repercussions of Agenda 21 are already visible, in urban growth schemes across the country.

A red alert from the Daily Caller: ACORN Continues To Receive Taxpayer Cash, Group Says:

In spite of a law aimed at de-funding the controversial organization, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is still receiving taxpayer money through an offshoot group.

Legal watchdog group Judicial Watch discovered that the Obama administration’s Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued a $79,819 grant to an ACORN offshoot, Affordable Housing Centers of America (AHCOA). (NEA’s Obama endorsement comes as union’s influence wavers)

Though HUD intended the grant to be for AHCOA to “educate the public and housing providers about their rights and obligations under federal, state, and local fair housing laws,” the government website listing federal expenditures labels the recipient of the grant “ACORN HOUSING CORPORATION, INC.”

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told The Daily Caller this newly discovered grant appears to be in violation of an October 2009 law President Obama signed banning all funding of “ACORN and any ACORN-related affiliate.”

Report: ATF’s Melson Tells Congressional Investigators He Knew Nothing About Gun-Walking Until the Controversy Erupted

Kenneth Melson was expected to testify before Congress at some point in July,  as part of a deal between Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Patrick Leahy  and the committee’s top Republican, Iowa’s Charles Grassley.

According to John Solomon reporting for The Daily Beast,  that  deposition took place on the 4th of July: Gun Sting Surprise:

While many Americans celebrated over barbecues and fireworks, acting ATF director Kenneth Melson arrived Monday with a private attorney on Capitol Hill for the interview, the sources said, speaking only on the condition of anonymity.

During hours of questioning, Melson told investigators for the Senate Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that he has recently learned that other federal agencies may have withheld crucial information about possible drug cartel connections to the gun trafficking ring that his agency had tried to crack during a 15-month operation that used controversial tactics, the sources said.

In his interview, Melson said most of the operational decisions for the Fast and Furious operation were approved by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Phoenix, which was leading a special strike force on gun trafficking, and that even he didn’t know about the specific orders to let straw buyers walk off with guns until after the controversy erupted, according to the sources.

He told the investigators he has subsequently learned that ATF agents during the operation did observe straw buyers transferring guns they had purchased to third parties, a possible legal violation, but did not interdict the weapons at the instructions of their immediate supervisors, the sources added.

Under questioning, Melson confirmed information the congressional investigators had received elsewhere that DEA and FBI had information about possible cartel connections to the gun trafficking ring under investigation but did not share it with ATF at the time. He expressed his own concerns about the flow of information from other agencies during a critical time in the war against Mexican border violence, the sources said.

Congressional investigators now want to know whether any of the players belatedly disclosed to the ATF had been working as assets or informants for other federal agencies, the sources said.

Melson also disclosed the existence of documents about the ATF case that have not yet been turned over to congressional investigators, the sources added.

It sounds to me like they might be going for the “communication breakdown” defense – the lack of information sharing between agencies  is supposed to explain  how more than 1,700 weapons were allowed to walk across the border straight into the hands of criminals.

Hmmm. It still doesn’t make sense. It’s like they want to make the fall guy, the ‘communication breakdown’. But there has to be someone who knew what was going on, and was giving the orders.

This morning, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa and Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Charles Grassley released a copy of a letter they sent to Attorney General Eric Holder on July 5 about Melson’s testimony. Melson’s revelations raise even more serious issues not only about the operation itself, but about apparent attempts by the Justice Department to mislead Congress on the details of the operation.

Contrary to the Justice Department’s denials, according to Melson, ATF agents specifically witnessed transfers of weapons from straw purchasers to third parties without taking any further action. Melson claimed that it was not until the public disclosure of the operation that he personally reviewed the “hundreds of documents” related to the case. He said he became “sick to his stomach” when he learned the full story. Even more shocking is that some of the “gun trafficking ‘higher-ups’ that the ATF sought to identify were already known to other agencies and may even have been paid as informants” by agencies such as the FBI and the DEA.

I was afraid some sort of  fix was in, but no – this looks very bad for the Justice Dept. I didn’t realize that he was meeting with investigators behind their back…

The details of Operation Fast & Furious just keep getting worse from the standpoint of prosecutorial ineptitude and incompetence.  But with Melson’s testimony, it is also appears that the Justice Department and specifically Deputy Attorney General James Cole have been obstructing Congress and engaging in a cover-up to prevent Congress and the public from finding out just how much the leadership of the Justice Department was involved in this expanding scandal.

US Ambassador to the United Kingdom AWOL For Dinner Honoring Reagan

Missing man: American ambassador Louis B Susman

Tongues are wagging in London over the absence of  the United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Louis B Susman,  at the dinner celebrating Ronald Reagan’s centenary. Some are seeing it as a blatant snub.

The London Evening Standard reported:

It was one of the most glittering events of the year, attracting some of the greatest names in American and British politics.

But as the British roasted lamb and the sunny Californian chardonnay were cleared away, one notable absence was the hottest topic among guests at the Guildhall dinner in honour of Ronald Reagan‘s centenary.

Where was the American ambassador to London, Louis B Susman?

He had, it soon transpired, been invited. But despite a guest list that boasted four British Cabinet ministers, ex-Prime Minister, nine US congressmen and a senator and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, there was no sign of President Obama‘s representative in London.

And in a warm atmosphere evoking the closest days of the special Anglo-US relationship of the Eighties, the surprise at Mr Susman’s absence turned to annoyance.

“Our ambassador should be here,” said Lynn de Rothschild, the American entrepreneur who is married to Sir Evelyn de Rothschild and was one of Hillary Clinton‘s key fundraisers in 2008 as well as a supporter of several Republican presidential candidates. “This was an historic dinner to mark Reagan’s centenary and to celebrate him as the man who ended the Cold War. What could not be more important?

“Why is our ambassador not here on Independence Day? No excuse. How is it that America is not represented in this room by our ambassador? It is appalling that no representative of our government is in this room. This has the feel of petty partisanship.”

Susman had attended other grand centenary events, but according to the US embassy spokesman: “Ambassador Susman was pleased to be invited to the dinner but was unable to attend.”

Thus far, that has been the only explanation for his absence.

You may remember only a few months ago, Susman’s boss, Obama was being compared to Reagan after a State of the Union speech that media sycophants labeled, “Reaganesque”.

Video: Jacob Turk Speaks at the 4th of July 2011 KC Tea Party

Perennial MO- 5 Republican candidate, Jacob Turk focused on big government  in his speech at the 4th of July Tea Party on the Plaza.

Turk is still mulling over another run for the US Congress in 2012. Unfortunately, the recent redistricting has made things even more difficult for him.

Congressman Emanuel (SpittleGate) Cleaver, Progressive Caucus member, and chair of the CBC, made a deal with the Missouri GOP establishment to gerrymander Turk out of the 5th district in exchange for dropping resistance to redistricting Democrat Russ Carnahan (MO-02) out of his seat altogether.

Republicans in Western MO are upset, but the Missouri GOP establishment for some inexplicable reason, has never accepted  Turk. He’s a Marine and great grassroots favorite. The redesigned 5th district does include some highly rural areas that will not be favorable to Cleaver and he won in 2010 by his lowest margin ever.

Union Of Patriots Leader Describes How USDA “Proration” Gives Preferential Treatment To Illegal Immigrants

Dale Chaffee, AKA, Fair Tax Geezer, of the Union of Patriots gave a talk on what he characterized “the most bizarre activities of the government he’d ever heard of”, a practice he called, “downright evil”, at the Kansas City4th of July Tea Party.

Last Fall, a former union member named Lana spoke with him about a program called proration, designed by the  USDA SRS (Social Rehabilitative Services). The proration program appropriates funds to both regular citizens and illegals, but it reportedly  gives preferential treatment to illegal immigrants. Nationwide, this amounts to untold millions of dollars a day of your tax dollars:

As Chaffee mentioned in his speech, SRS proration was ended in Kansas effective July 1, 2011.

KMUW, Witchita Public Radio reported:

Kansas Secretary of Social and Rehabilitation Services Rob Siedlecki has announced that starting July 1 the practice of proration within the welfare office will cease as a policy in Kansas.

Members of the political group, Union of Patriots applauded the effort Wednesday saying the state could save half a million dollars per day. Union of Patriots co-founder, Dale Geezer, says there’s been scant attention given to the fact that the practice of proration will end.

He says proration is a policy designed by the USDA of evaluating eligibility within the welfare system. Geezer claims the result of proration has provided undocumented immigrants preferential treatment over what he calls legitimate citizens in Kansas.

“Today, if you are a family of four with two illegal parents and two children born here and you make $2,790 dollars, you get food stamps and sundry, other welfare benefits,” said Geezer. “However, if you happen to be a legitimate citizen and all four members of the family happen to be born here and natural citizens and you make $2,790 dollars a month, you are ineligible for any benefits. This is an absolute unadulterated outrage. It ceases in Kansas July 1.”

Union of Patriots are working on Missouri, now. Hopefully more states will soon follow suit.

2011 Kansas City 4th of July Tea Party (Updated w/video)

A small but lively crowd of Tea party patriots  took time out of their 4th of July to attend the tea party on The Plaza at noon, yesterday. Speakers included Jacob Turk and his wife,  Donna Turk, Fair Tax Geezer from the Union of Patriots, and Eric, AKA Tygrrrr Express.

Jacob Turk, who had no word yet on whether he’ll try again to unseat Cleaver in District 5 (recent redistricting made it even more difficult for him), gave a great speech on the abuses of big government, Donna talked about the new KC chapter of Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, and Tygrrrr Express gave us his entertaining conservative stand-up routine. (At least, that’s what I thought it was).

Tygrrrr Express had a request for all liberals this 4th of July:

I just drove at 3:30am this morning from Hilton Head South Carolina to Savannah, Georgia, took a flight to Atlanta and another to Kansas City, spoke at an independence rappy in KC, and am now driving to Joplin, Missouri. Rush Limbaugh is holding a relief effort event.

As we prepare to have American flags fly high and Roman candles light up the night sky, I would like to ask a favor of liberals, leftists and all others on the “progressive” side of the political spectrum.

Take July 4th off. For one day, don’t act like you. Don’t act like a stereotype of yourselves. You claim you love peace. Well enjoy peace with a huge helping of quiet next to it.

There is not a single thing any of you believe that cannot wait until July 5th.

Happy 4th of July

As we now know, if you’re a Republican, you’ll be dressed in red, white and blue, and enjoying patriotic activities like a 4th of July parade, family picnic,  watching/shooting fireworks, and maybe even attending a tea party.

And if you’re a Dem, well….you may do some of those things, too — but you won’t enjoy them as much as we do, (according to the Hahvard study!) and you might even be asked to add the color green to your festivities, too…like the folks in Berkeley did:

Let’s hear it for the red, white, and blue…but keep it green, too. The party shouldn’t leave the environment trashed. If you can, bring your own dishes — Frisbees double as plates! A bandana is your cloth napkin to use at all of the international food booths. With water stations located around the event, you can refill your own reusable bottle and keep a lot of plastic out of the landfill. Be sure to use the recycling stations located throughout the marina for your disposables.

I appreciate the need  for conservation, but really, people…frisbies doubling as plates? Hokayyy.

Video: Thaddeus McCotter Formally Announces His Candidacy For The Republican Nomination

Thaddeus McCotter announced his intentions to run for President of the United States on July 2, 2011 in Whitmore Lake, Michigan at the WAAM Freedom Festival, a perfect setting for the “rocker” candidate:

As always, McCotter spoke to the assembled crowd extemporaneously and with conviction, without the need of notes or  teleprompter.
Here are some memorable quotes from Rep. McCotter’s address tonight:
