Biden’s Appalling Moral Blindness On Display in China

He did not. Tell me this nominal Catholic did not go to China in his attempt to revive the financial image of the US,  and tacitly approve of one of the most brutal and heinous  policies in modern times.

In his statement, Biden talked about the other set of concerns about the one-child policy — demographic — in that China will increasingly have similar problems to the United States in terms of paying for entitlements to the growing number of people retiring who will need government support to make ends meet and a smaller population of younger workers able to take care of those obligations.

“But as I was talking to some of your leaders, you share a similar concern here in China. You have no safety net,” Biden said in the prepared remarks. “Your policy has been one which I fully understand — I’m not second-guessing — of one child per family. The result being that you’re in a position where one wage earner will be taking care of four retired people. Not sustainable.”

“So hopefully we can act in a way on a problem that’s much less severe than yours, and maybe we can learn together from how we can do that,” he continued.

We can learn from China????

How morally confused is Biden? Doug Powers at Michelle Malkin quips:

Mass forced abortions is an entitlement sustainability problem but climate change is a moral dilemma? Sure, put Joe in charge of our health care!

It’s bad enough when we avert our gaze….but to come out with a sympathetic expression of understanding about a policy that forces late term abortions on unwilling women ….this has to be a new low for this administration.

Here are some examples of China’s one-child policy in action, that our happy-go-lucky VP dares not “second guess”:

SBA List:

I was drug out of the van. I saw hundreds of pregnant Moms there – all of them, just like pigs in the slaughter house. Then I was put into a room with several other Moms. The room was full of Moms who had just gone through a forced abortion. Some Moms were crying, some Moms were mourning, some Moms were screaming, and one Mom was rolling on the floor with unbearable pain…

I could hear the sound of the scissors cutting the body of my baby in my womb…The surgery was finished and one nurse showed me part of a bloody foot with her tweezers. Through my tears, the picture of the bloody foot was engraved into my eyes and into my heart, and so clearly I could see the five small bloody toes. Immediately the baby was thrown into a trash can.

Womens’ Rights Without Borders:

In 2009, Liu Dan was 21 years old and 9 months pregnant when family planning police grabbed her out of her home, dragged her pleading and crying to the local family planning office, and forcibly aborted her full term baby.  They did this even though they already knew from medical tests that she had high blood pressure and that a forced late term abortion would be dangerous for her.  After the forced abortion, she lay alone and unconscious in an operating room in the family planning center.  Sensing something was wrong, her fiancé burst into the room at 3:00 a.m. to find her bleeding from the eyes, nose, ears and mouth.  Even so, the family planning police refused to call for emergency help, until her family insisted.  Help arrived too late.  Liu Dan died, along with her full term baby.

LifeSiteNews:

The Associated Press picked up the story after the Arabic news network Al Jazeera released a videotaped interviewwith Luo,  who described his futile attempts to save his baby from death, and his wife from unspeakable abuse, at the hands of the Chinese government.”I tried and tried to save her, from the moment she was taken,” said Luo. “Those 48 hours … I didn’t sleep but three hours. I couldn’t eat. … My whole person, my whole being – I don’t know what to say. I just tried so hard.”

Luo said he rushed home October 10 after he heard his wife Xiao Aiying was taken by “Family Planning officials,” but was too late – she had been dragged away about ten minutes before. “I didn’t know where they had taken her,” he said. “When I finally found the place, they’d locked my wife in a separate room.”

Luo said the couple hadn’t been sure whether they were allowed more than one child – Luo was from the city, while Xiao was from the country – and that he tried to dissuade authorities from aborting the child.

“They told me the one-child policy meant we had to abort the baby,” he said. “I protested. The baby was eight months. That’s a living being. You can’t just get rid of a life.” Authorities gave Luo a day to come up with an alternative solution, but to no avail.

The next day, after his wife failed to pick up her phone, “I knew something was wrong and rushed back to her,” said Luo.

“There were many people surrounding my wife. They held her arms behind her back held her head against the wall, kicked her stomach, I don’t know if they were trying to give her a miscarriage right there and then. Her arms, legs, neck – were all injured. I was so angry. I told them, ‘We haven’t had the chance to even talk about a solution. How can you beat her?’” he said. “For the rest of that day, I had no news of my wife.”

Luo later learned that his child had been killed in utero by lethal injection, leaving only their nine-year-old daughter. “It was only after the lethal injection that they let my wife call me,” said Luo, visibly distraught. “This is the fourth day, and my daughter asks, ‘Where has mother gone and why has she been away?’ My daughter’s been feeling my wife’s belly as it has grown larger and larger over the months. And my daughter says, ‘I’ll have a little brother soon!’

“I dont’ know how I can possibly explain to her what has happened.”

An official told the Associated Press that Xiao’s husband had approved the abortion, but Luo denied the claim. ” “I called the police but they said family planning issues weren’t their responsibility,” Luo told the AP. “I want to sue, but lawyers I’ve asked here say they can’t help me and the media won’t report on our case.”

In the video, Luo despaired at pursuing justice in the totalitarian country. “These were government officials who did this. I’m just an ordinary man, I can’t really fight back,” he said. “If anything they’ll find a way to frame me. You know how it works.” He said he was now worried about his wife, who had still not been released from the hospital where the baby was murdered. The dead baby was reportedly delivered on October 14.

These horrors, of course, only represent a tip of the iceberg. The stories are legion.  This has been going on since the late seventies, so do the math…..our nation’s leaders used to forcefully condemn blatant evils like forced abortion.

Never mind Obama. We already have a pretty good idea where he stands on China’s one-child policy. I doubt Obama’s ever met a totalitarian policy he wouldn’t fully embrace if given the chance. But et tu, Biden? Seriously? …Our nation’s leaders used to forcefully condemn blatant evils like forced abortion. G.W. Bush took a lot of flack for withholding funds from the UN Fund’s for Population Activities (UNFPA), which helps facilitate China’s extreme population control methods.

But the times, they are a-changin’

An ex-Planned Parenthood Director and Obama supporter, Norman Fleishman recently praised China’s One-Child policy in an oped.

Via LifeNews:

In a new letter to the editorto the Napa Valley Register newspaper, Norman Fleishman, praises the policy as he offers his support for the Obama administration’s recent decision forcing insurance companies to cover birth control and drugs that can cause abortion.

“The Obama administration’s mandate that all health plans must provide to women, with no charge, all government-approved contraceptives, has already reignited debate on the federal role in health care,” Fleishman writes. “Ah, how I remember “Every child a wanted child,” our motto at Planned Parenthood. And I do welcome this legislation.

Fleishman goes on to condemn the world’s population growth and says the Obama mandate and the one-child policy is needed to stem that.

“Unless we act (this legislation, along with China’s “one child” policy, is a start), the world is doomed to strangle among coils of pitiless exponential growth,” he concludes.

Would it surprise you to know that Obama included funding in the 2009 Omnibus spending bill for the UNFPA to help China enforce its One-child laws?

A cool  $50 million went to the  cause in the 2009 Omnibus spending bill:

State Department to Release UNFPA Funds for First Time Since 2002

Earlier this week, the State Department issued a statement announcing it will provide a contribution of $50 million to the UN Population Fund (UNFPA). The funds were provided in the FY09 omnibus bill. In each of the past seven years, the Bush administration withheld contributions appropriated by Congress after concluding that the agency’s activities in China indirectly supported government policies that led to coercive abortions. In its statement, the State Department noted that UNFPA “is the principal international organization supporting programs that provide access to voluntary family planning and reproductive health services” and said it looks forward to “working closely with UNFPA on these important programs.”

Back-atcha Maxine

Breitbart TV has the Despicable Maxine Waters Tea Party Attack Media is Ignoring: Tea Party Can Go to Hell, ‘I Intend to Help Them Get There’

While the media plays up the Los Angeles congresswoman’s “the Tea Party can go straight to hell’ comments from this weekend, they are ignoring what she said right after that. When the wild cheers of the audience calmed down, Rep. Waters then said: “And I intend to help them get there.”

Watch video at link.

Oh Maxine!

Whether she’s attacking the tea party, or trying to placate Obama’s base, (“We’re tired ya’ll!”), can someone tell me why we should give this absurd hack one second of our attention? This is all anyone has to know about Maxine Waters to make an assessment:

Oh, too bad she was cut off. She was extolling the “outstanding leadership” of the now disgraced Fannie Mae crook exec, Franklin Raines.

From what I can tell, being on this woman’s sh*t-list is a badge of honor.

UPDATE:

Rick Santorum reacted to the comments by calling Maxine Water “vile” on the Steve Malzberg Show, today:

Video: Karl Rove Smacks Down Both Bret Baier And Bill Burton

Boy Howdy.

Love him or hate him (and there are certainly reasons for Tea Party conservatives to hate him) Karl Rove can be a powerful asset to team R.

Watch him go after the Obama administration, demolish every feeble argument Burton throws out there, like his weak, years old attack lines about the Bush economy and Iraq war.  Rove helpfully reminded him that Obama voted with the Dems to filibuster reforming Fannie and Freddie, and appointed Hillary Clinton, (WHO VOTED FOR THE WAR) to be his Sec. of State.

Karl Rove has chunks of guys like Burton in his stool.

Yeah, Brett took some body blows from Rove at the beginning, but recovered in time to get some kicks in to Burton towards the end – not letting him get away with the lie that Republicans are holding up some trade agreements, when the White House hasn’t submitted them to Congress, yet..

Oh, and we can add Burton to the growing list of Obama administration officials (present and former) who are attacking Republicans for “putting politics above country”. How disgusting.

Burton: “What the President needs in Washington are partners who will work with him to actually make progress in this country not just people like Eric Cantor, John Boehner, and Mitch McConnell who would much rather see the economy do poorly so they can score political points than see America succeed.

Rove: Bill,  with all due respect, do not question the motivations and the integrity of the people on the other side. It’s a really bad way to try and get partners. We can’t have political disagreements without you questioning our motivations – that’s not a way to get partners.

Burton ( crosstalk):”I don’t think ‘all due respect’ means what you think it means, Karl”

Do we really need another smug spokes-twerp from the Obama administration stinking up the air on Fox?

Weasel Zippers: Obama’s Long-Awaited “Very Specific Plan” On Job Creation Downgraded To Just An “Outline”…

(DC Examiner) — Last Monday, President Obama made news by promising to give a speech in September detailing, “a very specific plan to boost the economy, to create jobs and to control our deficit.”

But has that “very specific plan” already been downgraded to an outline?

That is, at least, the impression I got watching Obama advisors Robert Gibbs and David Axelrod on yesterday’s Sunday morning shows.

Video: Obama Runs With Vile “Bad Faith” Accusation Against Republicans

Since Obama has no (popular) accomplishments to run on, and the economy shows no signs of improving in any appreciative way before election day, the Obama camp has settled on a strategy the they are going to deploy for the next 15 months:  He is going to make excuses for his own failures (bad luck!), and accuse Republicans of near treasonous behavior – holding the economy hostage for political gain (bad faith!)

Over the weekend we we treated to multiple examples of their strategy in play. Obama deployed his characteristic passive aggressive “some in Congress” strawman in his weekly address to the nation, filmed last week, at a farm in the Midwest: “The only thing preventing us from passing these bills is the refusal by some in Congress to put country ahead of party. That’s the problem right now. That’s what’s holding this country back. That’s what we have to change.”

When the Obama administration decides on a meme – they really pound it. Obama’s former Senior Adviser, David Axelrod, surfaced over the weekend on CNN: Axelrod: Congress Putting Party Ahead of Country.

Robert Gibbs, Obama’s smarmy former White House Press Sec., appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press”: Gibbs: Congress Should Put Country Ahead of Party.

Not exactly subtle, are they?

Charles Krauthammer really  let Obama have it in his column Friday for the Obama’s accusation of bad faith against Republicans:

Charging one’s opponents with bad faith is the ultimate political ad hominem. It obviates argument, fact, logic, history. Conservatives resist Obama’s social-democratic, avowedly transformational agenda not just on principle but on empirical grounds, as well — the economic and moral unraveling of Europe’s social-democratic experiment, on display today from Athens to the streets of London.

Obama’s answer? He doesn’t even engage. That’s the point of these ugly accusations of bad faith. They are the equivalent of branding Republicans enemies of the people. Gov. Rick Perry has been rightly chided for throwing around the word “treasonous” in reference to the Fed. Obama gets a pass for doing the same, only slightly more artfully, regarding Republicans. After all, he is accusing them of wishing to see America fail for their own political gain. What is that if not a charge of betraying one’s country?

The charge is not just ugly. It’s laughable. All but five Republican members of the House — moderate, establishment, tea party, freshman alike — voted for a budget containing radical Medicare reform knowing it could very well end many of their careers. Democrats launched gleefully into Mediscare attacks, hardly believing their luck that Republicans should have proposed something so politically risky in pursuit of fiscal solvency. Yet Obama accuses Republicans of acting for nothing but partisan advantage.

This from a man who has cagily refused to propose a single structural reform to entitlements in his three years in office. A man who ordered that the Afghan surge be unwound by September 2012, a date that makes no military sense (it occurs during the fighting season), a date not recommended by his commanders, a date whose sole purpose is to give Obama political relief on the eve of the 2012 election. And Obama dares accuse others of placing politics above country?

Here’s Krauthammer,  unable to conceal his contempt for Obama’s “vile” bad faith strategy, spoke with Monica Crowley (filling in for O’Reilly) on Friday.

The accusations of bad faith are made in bad faith. Leftists ALWAYS  project, and since Obama was elected, we’ve seen a record  number of examples of lefty projection. I guess you can add that to his list of “historic” achievements.

Obama 3/2009: “Your GM Warrenty Is Safe” GM 8/2011: “Bankruptcy Excuses Us From Repairs”

NEW YORK, Aug 19, Reuters -

General Motors Co (GM.N) is seeking to dismiss a lawsuit over a suspension problem on more than 400,000 Chevrolet Impalas from the 2007 and 2008 model years, saying it should not be responsible for repairs because the flaw predated its bankruptcy.

The lawsuit, filed on June 29 by Donna Trusky of Blakely, Pennsylvania, contended that her Impala suffered from faulty rear spindle rods, causing her rear tires to wear out after just 6,000 miles. [ID:nN1E7650CT]

Seeking class-action status and alleging breach of warranty, the lawsuit demands that GM fix the rods, saying that it had done so on Impala police vehicles.

But in a recent filing with the U.S. District Court in Detroit, GM noted that the cars were made by its predecessor General Motors Corp, now called Motors Liquidation Co or “Old GM,” before its 2009 bankruptcy and federal bailout

In March of 2009, Obama  stared right into the camera and brazenly lied to the American people – either that, or he didn’t know what the hell he was talking about:

This issue doesn’t come as a surprise to those who were involved with the bailout because the problem was “widely discussed”:

“The fact it comes up now is not a surprise, as this type of issue was widely discussed during GM’s bankruptcy,” said Penn, now a partner at Haynes and Boone in Fort Worth, Texas. “The court will need to evaluate the claims to see if they fit within any cubbyhole of liability that New GM assumed.”

Why would any sane person still believe the words that comes tumbling out of this man’s mouth?

It was obvious to me by early in the 2008 campaign, that the man was a serial liar and a raging narcissist. 3 and 1/2 years later how is that not obvious to one and all?

SEE ALSO:

Seton Motley, Big Government: General Motors Again Ripping Off Americans, Warranties Edition:

Wasn’t GM “too big to fail” – meaning (we were told) we had to bail them out to make sure they kept their promises to the American people?

Not just to their employees, but to all those parts manufacturers and car dealers – everyone who was so intertwined with the auto monolith that they too would go down were GM to do so?

And weren’t we told over and over again that we needed to bailout GM because we had to make good on their contracts with the auto unions – you know, the ones that were illegally over-rewarded in the bankruptcy?

In fact, hasn’t that been a primary defense of the back-breaking status quo in government budget fights all over the country – Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois and elsewhere?

That these governments have signed sacrosanct contracts with their public sector union cronies – and they must be maintained and adhered to, no matter how insolvent it leaves their states?

Well, these GM car owners have contracts too.  But these are “plainly” deemed less sacrosanct.

Because these folks made the same fatal mistake as did GM bondholders (and select GM car dealers) – they didn’t contribute huge coin and political field work to Democrats.

Which of course the unions always do.

So on Obama’s Animal Farm, all contracts are equal, but some are more equal than others.

Mark Levin: On Obama’s Habitual Use Of Executive Fiat – “Is That The Act Of A Dictator?”

Mark Levin is asking the right question. Members of Congress should be asking the same thing and standing up to this out of control Despot. Obama keeps trying to get away with more and more. It’s almost like he’s daring people to stop him.

Congress refused to pass the Dream Act, so  before Obama left for Martha’s Vineyard, he quietly signed an executive order that does the same thing Congress refused to do…

Newsmax: Ariz. Gov. Jan Brewer: Obama Acts Like He’s Above Law on Immigration

Republicans are attacking President Barack Obama for acting like a “king that is above the law” in deciding to pick and choose which illegal aliens to deport.

“The Obama administration cannot get its amnesty schemes through Congress, so now it has resorted to implementing its plans via executive fiat,” said Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer.

“We need to remind President Obama that we elected a president that serves beneath the law and did not anoint a king that is above the law.”

Joining her criticisms were two other border-state Republicans, Reps. Michael McCaul and Lamar Smith of Texas.

“It’s just the latest attempt by this president to bypass the intended legislative process when he does not get his way,” McCaul said.

Smith said, “The Obama administration should enforce immigration laws, not look for ways to ignore them.”

And Florida Rep. Allen West jumped into the fray, too, calling for a House investigation into the guidelines. In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, he accused Obama of “shredding the Constitution” with the new guidelines. “It is a form of amnesty and it does go against our Constitution and it very much concerns me because now we are rewarding people for an illegal activity,” he said.

“Think about the strain that is going to come on the types of services and things that we have to provide,” West added, saying aliens are getting a free pass.

Oh, FYI –Obama’s passing treaties now by E/O, too..

The opening statement in nearly all executive orders states: “By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America…,” This sentence establishes his authority to; in essence, create regulations on how to carry out the laws on the books as well as to direct the operation of the executive department.

A year earlier, 2009, President Obama directed the creation of the “Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force ” who was tasked to come up with a recommendation for how to best manage the ocean resources and waterway usages. Their final report read quite similarly to the, surprise — surprise, Law of the Sea Treaty mandates.

Upon receiving the final recommendations of the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force President Obama signed into law Executive Order 13547 and instituted a run around of the requirement to have all treaties ratified by the Senate and creating law outside of the legislature.

Under Section 2 – Policy – paragraph b (ii) – (iii) he is establishing the initial connection to ‘international law’ by stating his ‘policy’ is to be promoted by:
(ii) cooperating and exercising leadership at the international level;
(iii) pursuing the United States’ accession to the Law of the Sea Convention…

The Law of the Sea Convention is the body that is task with management of the program under the UN’s Law of the Sea treaty, which has not been ratified by our Senate, for the purpose of establishing control of the world’s seas.

Thanks, you dirty animals. I knew you wouldn’t let me down.

When I decided to write about mobs, it was a relatively peaceful period. But as long as there is evil in the world, mobs will never be finally defeated. And as long as there are liberals, there will be some people stoking the mobs.

Gateway Pundit: Lawless Obama Administration Halts Deportation of Illegal Aliens:

The Obama Administration will halt the deportation proceedings of illegal aliens on a case-by-case basis.
The Washington Times reported:

The Homeland Security Department said Thursday it will halt deportation proceedings on a case-by-case basis against illegal immigrants who meet certain criteria such as attending school, having family in the military or are primarily responsible for other family members’ care.

The move, announced in letters to Congress, won immediate praise from Hispanic activists and Democrats who had chided President Obama for months for the pace of deportations and had argued he had authority to exempt broad swaths of illegal immigrants from deportation.

Gateway Pundit: Si Se Puede! Obama’s Approval Drops 36 Points With Hispanic Voters

Obama’s declining approval among Hispanics came before the administration announced a new policy on Thursday that will allow Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to suspend deportation proceedings against illegal aliens if she does not deem their cases sufficiently serious to require enforcement of the immigration law or if she believes their continued presence in the United States will not be a threat to national security or public safety.

Fox News: College Students in Favor of Wealth Distribution Are Asked to Pass Their Grade Points to Other Students

A California college student is conducting a social experiment where he’s trying to get his peers to sign a petition in favor of distributing grade point averages to show how the federal government distributes wealth.

Oliver Darcy, a recent college graduate, proposes that students with good grades contribute their GPA to their academically sluggish friends. He argues that this is how the federal government takes wealth from the country’s high wage earners and distributes it to the low income earners.

“They all earn their GPA,” said Darcy in an interview with “Fox and Friends.” “So we asked them if they’d be interested in redistributing the GPA points that they earned to students who may be having trouble getting a high GPA.”

Shockingly enough, students who are in favor of wealth redistribution, are not in favor of GPA point redistribution. (Or probably Halloween candy redistribution, either.)

In an article last week, Politico ended its story on Bloom’s resignation with a curious quote. In reference to Obama attempting to forge a partnership between manufacturers in several states and academia — in order to revitalize American factories — Bloom apparently saw something Mao-esque in the way government was attempting to support private business, stating the approach would, “let the great thousand flowers bloom in America.”

If that sounds familiar, it should.

While the correct wording is in fact a “hundred flowers,” there is no question as to where the phrase derives from. Back in the summer of 1957 in the People’s Republic of China, a movement emerged called the “Hundred Flowers Campaign,” during which the Communist Party allegedly encouraged those with diverse view points to step forward and share their ideas with a view to “letting a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend is the policy for promoting progress in the arts and the sciences and a flourishing socialist culture in our land.”

Of course it was all a ploy, implemented to out as many free-thinkers and dissidents as the regime possibly could. Not surprisingly, Mao punished many who participated in the Hundred Flowers Movement until finally reimposing his oppressive policy on public expression.

There are several videos featuring Bloom that you might want to view at the link.

Master Resource: Collateral Damage: Lost Gulf Rigs from Obama Obstructionism (10 down, more to go?)

“The Gulf Spill of 2010 maybe be remembered as much or more for the economic damage it did because of the Obama’s regulatory overreaction than for the environmental damage it wrought. Two wrongs do not make a right.”

Ten oil rigs have left the Gulf of Mexico since the Obama Administration imposed a moratorium on deepwater oil and gas drilling in May 2010 and others could follow soon, a detailed July 2011 report from Sen. David Vitter’s (R-La.) office shows.

The ten rigs named in the document are: Marinas, Discover Americas, Ocean Endeavor, Ocean Confidence, Stena Forth, Clyde Bourdeaux, Ensco 8503, Deep Ocean Clarion, Discover Spirit, and Amirante. The rigs have left the Gulf for locations in Egypt, Congo, French Guiana, Liberia, Nigeria and Brazil.

It gets worse.

WND: Arizona sheriff promises Obama-eligibility probe:

At the request of tea party leaders in Arizona, famed Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has promised to investigate the validity of Barack Obama’s purported long-form birthcertificate in a determination of the president’s eligibility for the county’s 2012 election ballot.

Tea party leaders in Surprise, Ariz., met with Arpaio and WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi Thursday morning to express concern that a fake birth certificate would be used to document the president’s eligibility to run in Maricopa County, where Arpaio is the chief law enforcement officer.

Victor Davis Hanson: Atlas Is Sorta Shrugging:
The Slurring and Smearing

Every president lets slip a smear now and then. The key is that there should be little consistency or frequency in his targeting. But with Obama there is both monotony and predictability. He clearly does not like private businesses — except the super wealthy who are liberal and share his refined tastes and politics and have enough millions in “unneeded income” that they figure they will either die before or weather through our transition to European democratic socialism.

Of course, one Huey Long–like “fat cat,” an occasional adolescent “millionaires and billionaires,” a once-in-a-while juvenile “corporate jet owners,” a few 1960s-like “spread the wealth” or “redistributive change” slips, a single petulant “unneeded income,” or a sole pop-philosophizing “at some point you’ve made enough money,” or even on occasion the old socialist boilerplate “those who make over $250,000 should pay their fair share” in isolation are tolerable. But string them together and even the tire store owner and pharmaceutical rep are aroused from their 70-hour weeks, and start to conclude, “Hmmm, this guy doesn’t like me or what I do, and I better make the necessary adjustments.” And, believe me, they are making the necessary adjustments.

Regulations Are Not Just Right-Wing Talking Points

But talk is talk and even the specter of crushing national debt is still not enough to sucker-punch our Atlas into bending a bit. But absorbing one-sixth of the U.S. economy, and putting new multi-thousand-dollar per worker regulations and obligations on employers to ensure government-run health care for their employees? Add that worry to the new Dodd-Frank regulations that add millions of collective hours of unproductive busy-work. Recall support for card check, and the reversal of the Chrysler creditors — and employers start to connect the dots. They see emerging a Regulator-in-Chief who thinks business is mostly collecting easy profits off the backs of exploited workers and from a clueless, exploited public. Still think that is hyperbole? Ask Boeing why at a time of unsustainable trade deficits, high unemployment, and fierce competition with Airbus, Obama has unleashed the NLRB to shut down a billion-dollar plant. Ideology trumps reality every time.

Left-Wing Institute For Civil Discourse: Bused In Union Astroturf Protests Boehner/ Bachmann Golf Event:

The title at YouTube is “Boehner-Bachmann $10,000 Golf Event Attracts a Crowd ” as if these people just spontaneously appeared — an organic, ground up manifestation of popular dissatisfaction with conservative fiscal policies. The protesters appeared indignant that the Republicans would hold a $10,000  fundraiser, while they suffer,  but apparently have no problem with the Campaigner in Chief’s serial fundraisers which include his recent $50-$35,800 a plate birthday bash in Chicago.

Of course, this is an organized group of leftists: Minnesotans for a Fair Economy is a community/labor coalition, which includes  Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en Lucha (CTUL), Neighborhoods Organizing for Change (NOC), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), TakeAction Minnesota , and United Food & Commercial Workers Local 1189. I strongly suspect these people are part of Van Jones’“Rebuild the Dream” astroturf movement which he recently launched  with MoveOn.org, Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois, the AFL-CIO and Service Employees International Union. With their “Where are the jobs” message (stolen from the House Republicans), they attempt to mimic the tea party with hand-made signs — and union tees left at home.

Some of their decidedly un-tea-party-like  chants included:

“They say cut back, we say fight back”.

“Boehner you can’t run away, we need jobs, today”.

“Hey hey, ho-ho, corporate greed has got to go”.

“Jobs now! Jobs now! Jobs now!”

And let’s have a quiz. What is Obama really saying?

He’s pretending to try to be helpful, with suggestions to call the Department of Agriculture and beware of bad information. But what he’s really saying is:

Rest at link.

Nile Gardiner: Barack Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard vacation looks like an act of presidential hara-kiri

Obama’s decision to head to a popular playground for wealthy elites in the face of intense media scrutiny is a surprisingly reckless move. It is a particularlly foolish act just 14 months away from a presidential election where he will likely end up the underdog rather than the favourite. The contrast between an imperious, out-of-touch US president and the economic plight of tens of millions of Americans could not be starker. Obama’s holiday will no doubt come to haunt him in November next year, with the economy the number one issue for voters.

Which begs the question – why did the president go ahead with his vacation despite the worst approval ratings of his presidency, plunging stock markets, falling consumer confidence, and overwhelming public disillusion with his handling of the economy? I think the answer lies in Obama’s professorial-style arrogance, and a condescending approach towards ordinary Americans.

YA THINK????

Ace: Fore! Obama’s Playing Golf Today:

For no very good reason, Michelle and the kids traveled by a separate plane, adding to costs.

I have a theory about why politically powerful liberals are so unashamed about lavish living on the taxpayer dime. To the extent they think about it at all (and most people don’t actually question their good fortune, they just enjoy it without bothering themselves if it’s fair or deserved), I think they believe that other rich people get their bounty due to greed and irrational structures, whereas those, like Obama or the jet-setting luxe socialist Dominique Strauss-Kahn, believe they are afforded these perks due a rational system of reward, so there’s no guilt.

The Daily Mail: Wylie the Afghan mutt shows how every dog will have its day

IN Afghanistan’s 10-year war, where acts of cruelty are commonplace and so many thousands have died, the account of one dog’s extraordinary survival is an oddly affecting tale.

Wylie, the Afghan mutt, was rescued in February by a convoy of British soldiers on patrol in a Kandahar bazaar, where a dog-fighting crowd was beating the smaller dog with lumps of wood to force the last fight out of him.

Back at Kandahar base, it was Australian Federal Police officer Narelle Jensz to whom the soldiers turned.

Jensz had gone to war to train Afghan police but it was as the unofficial dog rescuer, vet and dog-adoption agent in southern Afghanistan that she had become something of a legend.

In her 10-month tour, the 37-year-old has treated countless dogs and successfully adopted 15 Afghan strays out to returned coalition soldiers across the world, many of whom have testified to the rehumanising impact of their animal companions.

Bob Owens, PJ Media: ATF Whistleblower: Gunwalker Officials Being Shielded:

I asked ATF whistleblower Vince Cefalu what he thought of the promotions, and whether or not it was standard practice to promote ATF officials after a catastrophic operational failure. I even asked if he had heard of another instance where a federal law enforcement officer or manager was promoted after leading an operation that lost firearms which were subsequently used in the shootings of multiple federal agents.

His responses (via email) were as cutting as you might expect from a loyal agent recently fired by the Obama administration for attempting to clean up entrenched corruption:

First: why did they leave out FF ASAC George Gillette? He is one of the most corrupt and culpable guys in that operation. He was transferred to HQ as the liaison to the U.S. Marshals, which is normally a GS (General Schedule) 13 or 14 job. He is filling it as a GS 15?

None of the other three were actually promoted.

They were all placed in protected positions which shields them from public view. The assistant to the assistant director position was created under former Acting Director Mike Sullivan to shield corrupt and exposed managers so as to keep their grade and benefits.

No other law enforcement organization would make any of these moves while a congressional and OIG investigation was still ongoing. They should be in admin positions or on the beach [suspended], since potential criminal charges loom until they are cleared.

McMahon in charge of IA [Internal Affairs, a more common functional name for Office of Professional Responsibility and Security Operations]. S***, that’s like putting [Charles] Manson in charge of sharp objects.

IA has long been the Gestapo arm of our corrupt leadership, and now the very man who allowed Fast and Furious to continue is in charge?

This is appalling.

Citing 13 Erroneous Statements, Issa Demands NY Times Retract Error-Ridden Front Page Story

The office of Congressman Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has formally requested that the New York Times issue a front-page retraction for an error-filled hit-piece entitled, “Helping His District, and Himself“, by Eric Lichtblau, (who has been described by some in the right-wing blogosphere as a contemptible “lick-spittle”):

Lick-spittle. A slimy grovelling and devious person who will do anything to get ahead in their life and career including accepting an order from the boss to lick a big green greasy lump of spit in the hope of promotion or a pat on the head.

The hit piece came  earlier this week as Issa continues to investigate the Obama administration’s deadly gunwalker plot.

So far, The New York Times has issued one correction and is reviewing other errors (13 in all) cited by Rep. Issa’s office.

Below is the formal request for a retraction sent by Rep. Issa’s office yesterday to editors of The New York Times:

On behalf of Rep. Darrell Issa, please accept this as a formal request for a full front page retraction, including the headline, “Helping His District, and Himself,” that ran in the Monday, August 15 edition of the New York Times. The request for a full front page retraction is based on numerous errors that invalidate the primary assertions made in the story that is a false and sensationalized account of Rep. Issa’s efforts to conduct congressional oversight of the Obama Administration and other matters.

This request is being sent after New York Times reporter, Eric Lichtblau, who wrote the story, refused to share the contact information of his editors for a discussion of errors in the story as requested by Rep. Issa’s congressional office.

The central claim in the New York Times story is an allegation of self-dealing on the part of Rep. Darrell Issa, as the story describes, “with at least some of the congressman’s actions helping to make a rich man richer” and “specific actions that appear to have clearly benefited his businesses.”

The New York Times story cites three central examples it believes justifies these allegations:

  • A medical complex purchased by Rep. Issa in 2008 that the Times story alleges enjoyed a 60 percent appreciation as it increased in value from $10.3 million to $16.6 million, “at least in part because of the government-sponsored road work” that Rep. Issa supported.
  • That he “went easy” on Toyota during 2010 hearings on unintended acceleration due to “his electronics company’s role as a major supplier of alarms to Toyota.”
  • An alleged 1900 percent profit Rep. Issa’s charitable foundation made on an investment of “less that $19,000″ that was sold seven months later for $357,000 “months before the stock market crashed.”

All central examples, however, are wildly inaccurate, and the truth deserves to be told.

  • The medical complex the Times story alleges enjoyed a 60 percent appreciation since it was purchased for $10.3 million and is now valued at $16.6 million is a patently false claim. According to the buyer’s final settlement statement, the property in question was not purchased for $10.3 million as the New York Times reported but for $16.6 million – the exact same figure of its current tax assessment. According to these numbers, the appreciation is not 60 percent but roughly zero. In addition, the government sponsored road work noted in the article has not even begun and Rep. Issa’s requests for the project (which were publicly announced and made on behalf of and at the request of the City of Vista, and the San Diego Association of Governments which is the regional transportation planning authority) all came before the 2009 property purchase.
  • The allegation that Rep. Issa “went easy” on Toyota during 2010 hearings because of “his electronics company’s role as a major supplier of alarms to Toyota” is again an example of a factual error in the Times story that lends no support to the story’s central premise. While the Times story tells readers that Rep. Issa’s former company, Directed Electronics, is a “major supplier of alarms to Toyota,” the story offers no evidence, and Directed Electronics is, in fact, not a supplier to Toyota. The New York Times also fails to note that Rep. Issa does not have a personal financial interest in Directed Electronics.
  • The “1,900 percent” profit allegation is, again, based on reporting errors by the New York Times. This is assertion is based on an incorrect form obtained by the Times. According to a financial transaction record, the Issa Family Foundation’s initial investment in the AIM Small Company fund was not $19,000 but $500,000. The asset was later sold for $375,000 resulting in a $125,000 loss – not a 1900 percent gain as was reported.

In addition, the lede line of the Times story – an attempt by the New York Times to foreshadow a corporate image of Rep. Issa’s congressional office – contains a factual inaccuracy in introducing intentionally distorted imagery. The story begins, “Here on the third floor of a gleaming office building overlooking a golf course in the rugged foothills north of San Diego, Darrell Issa, the entrepreneur, oversees the hub of a growing financial empire worth hundreds of millions of dollars.” As this video shows, however, the office building located at 1800 Thibodo Rd. in Vista does not overlook a golf course.

Because of these errors, and another error the New York Times did correct that grossly exaggerated the value of some holdings held by Rep. Issa, the following lines in the New York Times original story that ran August 15 are incorrect or made on baseless assertions:

Report: Obama Doubling Down – Will Propose Stimulus II After Labor Day

Ace, reporting on the latest grim economic news, concludes we’re in another recession – Obama’s very own recession:

I know the response is “We never left the last one,” but, again, as a technical matter (as these things are strictly defined) we did, and, as a messaging matter, it’s actually politically better for us if this is the Obama Recession, not a continuation of the Bush one.

***

You know, I think someone else mentioned this, but maybe I realized it. When Obama was on this supposed non-political listening tour in swing states, he actually wasn’t presenting a plan, of course.

He was promising he would have a plan.

That’s odd, isn’t it?

What kind of SCOAMF does that? Mounts a twenty car convoy in Darth Vader’s heavy-metal band side-project tour bus when he has no actual news to report, nothing new? Just the promise that in ten days or so he might (fingers crossed!) have something to say?

In case you’re wondering what a SCOAMF is (don’t click if you’re easily offended): CONTENT WARNING: > here.

Well, he has a plan, alright. The Tatler reports that Obama’s idea to “jump-start the economy” and spur jobs will be announced after labor day:

What could be his new, imaginative idea?”

Could be Stimulus II?

Yes, after the failure of the first $800 billion round of stimulus, the President’s best idea may be to recommend more stimulus spending.

Today’s Washington Post is floating a trial balloon from White House aides that report:”President Obama has decided to press Congress for a new round of stimulus spending.”  No dollar amounts were mentioned.

Yesterday during his bus tour in Atkinson, Illinois the President prepared his audience for his new economic policy, saying he would cut spending by spending more.  The two, he said, are not inconsistent. “When Congress gets back in September, my basic argument to them is this: We should not have to choose between getting our fiscal house in order and jobs and growth.”

A “new round” because the first round was such a raging success. Isn’t that wonderful? Paul Krugman always said we didn’t spend enough in the first stimulus, which is why (he says) it failed. He wants another $800 billion stimulus:

According to Paul Krugman of The New York Times, we need another $800 billion stimulus. The first one, you see, wasn’t big enough. “The stimulus right now makes almost no difference,” Krugman recently said at the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul. And for those who worry about the deficit, he had these soothing words: “What does a trillion dollars of borrowing do to the U.S. long-run fiscal position?”

As F.A. Hayek said:

A stimulus will only stimulate the deficit: Past experience with trying to fine-tune the economy shows that counter-cyclical fiscal and monetary policy can sometimes make matters much worse (as in the 1970s). Wise politicians would therefore be advised not to meddle, however much their instincts tell them to show voters they’re doing something.

Obama’s Justice Department Investigating Standard and Poor’s

 Steve Kelley cartoon via Townhall.

Obama’s slimy, corrupt DOJ is “investigating” S&P now for lowering the United States’ credit rating.

Who’s going to investigate the investigators? What country am I living in?

Via Weasel Zippers:

(NYT) — The Justice Department is investigating whether the nation’s largest credit ratings agency, Standard & Poor’s, improperly rated dozens of mortgage securities in the years leading up to the financial crisis, according to two people interviewed by the government and another briefed on such interviews.

The investigation began before Standard & Poor’s cut the United States’ AAA credit rating this month, but it is likely to add fuel to the political firestorm that has surrounded that action. Lawmakers and some administration officials have since questioned the agency’s secretive process, its credibility and the competence of its analysts, claiming to have found an error in its debt calculations.

The Kansas City Star reported:

Moody’s lists it at AAA but says its outlook is negative. And Standard & Poor’s set off a maelstrom in the stock market last week after it took its rating down to the second-highest grade, AA+, for the first time.

***

Moody’s assigned a negative outlook to its rating of U.S. credit on Aug. 2. Its analysts said they were uncertain how much the congressional committee would be able to cut spending.

Just as the DOJ actually promoted Gunwalker’s most culpable ATF officials in order to send an ominous message to potential ATF whistleblowers, this move is meant to send a ominous message to the other credit agencies not to cross the Obama White House.

This is just one more instance of Chicago thug politics that has come to exemplify this administration..

Video: Senator Cornyn Blasts Holder On O’Reilly; 12 Violent Crime Scenes In The US Connected To Fast and Furious

Senator John Cornyn of Texas, all but calls Eric a liar in this interview with Laura Ingraham, and  wants to see heads rolling over Fast and Furious – not promotions for the ATF officials involved:

Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News, who’s been doing some of the best reporting on this story, has new details on he thousands of weapons the ATF allowed to fall into the hands of criminals:

The Justice Department reports “Fast and Furious” guns have been recovered at 11 violent crime scenes in the United States. Those crime scenes, in addition to the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in Dec. 2010,  puts the total number of U.S. crime scenes connected to “Fast and Furious” at 12.

The number is provided for the first time in a written response to Republicans investigating the gunwalker scandal. In the case, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) say they were ordered to allow thousands of weapons into the hands of suspected gun traffickers for Mexican drug cartels. In its letter, the Justice Department indicates it doesn’t have enough information to know how many weapons have been used in violent crimes south of the border in Mexico.

Tony Katz of PJ Media, via Sipsey Street Irregulars, castigates our  “Fourth Estate Fifth Columnists.”: Administration Kills Americans – MSM Doesn’t Care:

It has become increasingly obvious that the Justice Department, meaning Attorney General Eric Holder, and the White House, meaning President Barack Obama, were aware – in part or in full – about the plan. As others have mentioned, a second intention of this plan was to perpetuate the myth that American guns are flowing into Mexico, thus creating the violence on the border between the two countries. The idea being that Operation Fast and Furious could be used as a vehicle to institute greater gun control; which is to push forward the Progressive ideal of eliminating 2nd Amendment rights.

What has also become obvious is that the main stream media has no plans to aggressively cover this story, and by aggressively I mean at all. The New York Times, rather than report the facts of this story, (which show the President and the Attorney General as being complicit, if not advocates, in a plan to sell guns to Mexican drug cartels) writes incoherent drivel about Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), who sits as Chairman of the House Government Operations and Reform Committee which is investigating the Fast and Furious disaster.

This case has exposed the MSM in two horrific ways.  First, it is yet more proof that the MSM refuses to portray the Administration honestly.  Second, it shows how absolute the first point is.

Cornyn, on The Laura Ingraham Radio Show, this morning, stated again that the Justice Dept is stonewalling, and it may  take an outcry from the American public to get some answers.

He would like to see Holder in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee for a hearing, (which is led by Senator Leahy).

MORE:

The Daily Caller:Holder requests Fast and Furious docs from Issa, Grassley for ‘independent’ investigation

The information comes via a letter Sen. Chuck Grassley and Rep. Darrell Issa sent to Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday. In it, they question a request from Holder for a transcript from a meeting they held in secret on July 4th with Ken Melson, acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Holder apparently told Issa and Grassley he was requesting the transcript for the DOJ and for the Office of the Inspector General — the entity that’s supposed to be distinct enough from Holder’s office to conduct a fair Operation Fast and Furious investigation.

Holder and other DOJ officials have repeatedly said the DOJ’s Inspector General is conducting its own internal investigation into what went wrong with Fast and Furious. Even so, Holder’s latest request on behalf of the OIG sparks skepticism from investigators in Congress.

“Since the OIG is supposed to be conducting an independent inquiry, it seems odd that the Department would make a document request on behalf of that office,” Grassley and Issa wrote to Holder on Tuesday. “We presume that if the OIG would like to make such a request, it is capable of doing so on its own initiative. However, we have not received any such request from the OIG.”

In their Tuesday letter, Grassley and Issa also ask Holder to provide complete and full answers to all of the questions they sent him on July 22. Issa and Grassley say Holder failed to do so in his most recent response.

They say “perhaps the most troubling reply” Holder gave them was that the ATF did not have detailed information available on 11 instances ATF admits being aware of that Fast and Furious weapons were recovered inside the United States in “connection with violent crimes.” (RELATED: Issa, Democrats, NLRB fight spar over oversight committee document demands)

The only reason Holder is getting away with this, is because not enough people have heard about it to create an uproar. The American people need to wake up and start going over the heads of the MSM to find news.
Holder must go, the gunwalker “Dirty Dozen” need to be held to account, and the ATF and DOJ need a complete housecleaning and fumigation.

Amazingly “Well Informed”, Wonkish Student Tells Obama It’s Time For The Wealthy To “Pay Their Fair Share”

Uh huh:

RealClearPolitics: Obama Calls Young Man “Well Informed” For Saying Wealthy Need To Pay Fair Share

QUESTIONER: “Hello, my name is Eric Palmer and I go to Augustana College.”

Obama: “Great school!”

QUESTIONER: “Yes, it is. First of all, I just want to let you know of one thing: I am not disappointed in you like Michele Bachmann wants everyone to believe.”

Obama: “Thank you! I appreciate that.”

[cheers]

The college student then goes on to ask a wonkish question about the cost of living adjustment (COLA) and being taxed past the first $107,000 you earn for Social Security.

He concludes his question with: “Can we look forward to you telling the Republicans ‘that it’s time the wealthy pay their fair share.’”

“Well, first, this is a very well informed young man here,” Obama told him.

Watch video at link.

RCP notes that Fox News reporter, Ed Henry reported that the questioner was wearing a tag that said “volunteer” on it.

Hmmmmmm!
