Someone had to say it. And today, at the 66th United Nations General Assembly at the U.N. headquarters in New York, Benjamin Netanyahu did. Claiming not to come there for applause, but to stand up for the truth, The Israeli Prime Minister was that “single candle of light seen far and wide.”
He noted how year after year, Israel, the one true democracy in the Middle East, is singled out for condemnation (more often than all of the other nations of the world combined!), yet:
“Saddam’s Iraq headed the UN Committee in Disarmament. Qaddafi’s Libya chaired the UN Commission on Human Rights.
And now, Hezbollah controlled Lebanon presides over the UN Security Council.
This means in effect, a terrorist organization presides over the body entrusted with guaranteeing the worlds security. You couldn’t make this up!”
The UN, Netanyahu alleges, has become the “Theater of the Absurd”.
I don’t know that he got any applause at the General Assembly, but I do know there are plenty of Americans and Israelis applauding him from their homes.
