Herman Cain Web Ad: A Real Choice

Brought to you by Americans For Cain:

Look, I know Herman Cain isn’t perfect. He can be impulsive and brash, and he really needs to bone up on foreign policy. Many people say his 999 plan is bold and a good start, but it has problems, the most serious of which is his sales tax which some say lays the groundwork for a VAT tax. It needs some tweaking.

Freedomworks’ Dean Clancy’s thoughts on the plan, here.

Art Laffer came out and defended the plan, earlier today in an oped in the WSJ.

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain’s now famous “9-9-9″ plan is his explicit proposal to right the wrongs of our federal tax code. He proposes a 9% flat-rate personal income tax with no deductions except for donations to charity; a 9% flat-rate tax on net business profits; and a new 9% national tax on retail sales.

Mr. Cain’s 9-9-9 plan was designed to be what economists call “static revenue neutral,” which means that if people didn’t change what they do under his plan, total tax revenues would be the same as they are under our current tax code. I believe his plan would indeed be static revenue neutral, and with the boost it would give to economic growth it would bring in even more revenue than expected.

John Hayward at Human Events added his thoughts:

Laffer goes on to characterize 999 as a “flat tax.”  Given the rising resistance to its sales tax component, this raises the question of why Cain doesn’t just retool it to be a flat tax.  I was always more of a flat tax guy myself, while Cain approached his compromise plan from the Fair Tax perspective.  In fact, his official 999 Plan brochure explicitly presents the program as an intermediate step toward the Fair Tax.

Perhaps Cain could take that step by stripping away the complex, politicized junk of the current tax code and broadening the tax base first, and then introduce the national sales tax concept later.  If we were discussing any candidate except Herman Cain, I might even think that’s been his strategy all along, since almost all of the heavy fire he took in last night’s debate was aimed at the sales tax component of his plan… but Cain just doesn’t think that way.  Whatever you think about his agenda, it’s hard to describe any portion of it as “hidden.”

James Pethokoukis of the American Enterprise Institute mentioned yesterday that Stephen Moore, an architect of the 999 Plan, has come to support the idea of dropping the 9% sales tax and replacing it with a 9% payroll tax.  “I’m surprised how hostile people are to the sales tax,” says Moore.  “When we designed this plan, I thought people would go along with the 9 percent sales tax.  But the point is they won’t.  And why not just do a payroll tax. It’s the devil we know…”

Cain would stroll out of a heavy barrage of opposition-research artillery without a scratch on him if he took that suggestion.  Also, he could stop talking about apples and oranges.  He’d lose the power of the Fair Tax concept, which makes taxes completely transparent, taxes the rich more without stacking tax rates against them (because they buy more stuff), and provides a huge incentive to investment and savings… but he lost a lot of that power by proposing the hybrid 999 concept anyway.

Given the choice we currently have – and I refer to the video above, because it does a good job whittling it down: We have a choice between, RomneyCare, “the debater” (Perry), and Gingrich, who’s brilliant, but has some unfortunate baggage that the MFM would be chomping at the bit to exploit if he were the nominee – - and that’s it, really. The rest have fallen by the wayside.

Cain’s  my favorite, warts in all.

Via RCP, we have the larger than life, Cain in an interview on CNN, once again demonstrating why he’s such a contender: Herman Cain: GOP Candidates “Getting On My Last Nerve”.

New NBC Marist Poll Shows Cain Stomping Obama in Florida and *South Carolina

A new NBC Marist poll, released today,  shows Herman Cain with firm leads in two more states, Florida, and South Carolina.

Florida: Cain vs. Obama NBC News/Marist Obama 47,         Cain 41                   Obama +6
South Carolina: Cain vs. Obama NBC News      /Marist Cain 44, Obama 42 Cain +2

I can hear you now, ND,  ND…those polls only show Cain leading slightly – within the margin of error in only one of those polls… How is that a “stomping”?

Well, the devil is in the details. Look at the party IDs of those polled:

In Florida:

PARTY ID REGISTERED VOTERS        DEMOCRAT 43    REPUBLICAN  35      D+8
In South Carolina:

SOUTH CAROLINA  PARTY ID                     DEMOCRAT LEAN  43   REPUBLICAN 45       LEAN  R+2

CNN’s exit poll data from the 2010 elections in Florida:

2010 FLORIDA  EXIT POLL PARTY ID                    DEMOCRAT  36   REPUBLICAN  36     EVEN

CNN’s exit poll data from 2010 elections in South Carolina:

2010 Exit Poll Vote by Party ID                 DEMOCRAT 33        REPUBLICAN  44      R+11

Enough said? Cain is stomping Obama in both states.

This, of course, could change after Cain made some glaring missteps this past week, and having a not so great debate in Las Vegas Tuesday night..

Issa Blasts NLRB In Letter For Deliberately Withholding Documents Regarding Boeing Case

Via Oversight and Reform:

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent a letter to the National Labor Relations Board on Monday, October 17th, stating that the NLRB is deliberately withholding documents from the committee regarding the NRLB case against the Boeing Company.

Investors Business Daily reported:

A powerful House Republican committee chairman accused the National Labor Relations Board of being a “rogue agency” in a letter to its general counsel Monday. The chairman claimed the NLRB knowingly withheld damaging documents relating to his committee’s probe of the agency’s controversial Boeing (BA) complaint.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darryl Issa, R-Calif., in a letter to Lafe Solomon, NLRB acting general counsel, said the withheld documents “demonstrate that the NLRB is acting as a rogue agency that believes it does not have to fully answer to Congress.”

Issa was referring to a cache of emails obtained earlier this month by the watchdog group Judicial Watch through the Freedom of Information Act.

He expressed anger that the emails were not turned over to his committee first and said the messages demonstrated the agency’s lack of impartiality. He further alleged that some of them contradicted claims NLRB staffers made as part of his committee’s probe.

NLRB spokeswoman Nancy Cleland said the agency had not withheld the emails. She said that the committee’s requests and the FOIA requests that produced the emails were handled separately by different people and that caused confusion.

AZ Sheriff Babeu On F and F: “Before This is Over, We’ll Know Exactly What Barack Obama Knew – And When He Knew it”

 Photo vi Maricop360.com

Pinal County sheriff, Paul Babeu sat down with the AZ Republic, Tuesday, to talk about the disastrous federal sting operation known as “Fast and Furious”. He stated, among other things that Eric Holder needs to to resign, and reiterated his belief that this scandal is worse than Watergate.

You’ve called for U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to resign or be fired. Is there enough evidence today to warrant that?

Eric Holder knew or should have known that Operation Fast and Furious was taking place. He received numerous memos on the subject in July of 2010, though he now claims not to remember. In May, Holder told Congress under oath that he had just learned of it. I believe, in addition to bearing responsibility for this operation, which alone should warrant his resignation, he is now actively engaged in concealing what happened.

You said, “This is a much larger scandal than Watergate.” Watergate brought down a presidency. Do you expect this to do the same?

If you knew that a foreign power had caused over 2,000 guns to arrive in the hands of America’s most dangerous criminals, what would you say? What if those weapons had been used to commit more than 200 murders? Now consider that the federal government did just that – and to an ally. Nobody died because of Watergate, and no treaties were violated. People on both sides of the border will be dealing with the deadly fallout for years to come. But before this is over, we’ll know exactly what Barack Obama knew – and when he knew it.

Calumny! Obama Says #OWS “Not That Different” From Tea Party Protests

Graphic via Todd Kinsey.com

#OWS is the polar opposite of the tea party and the President damn well knows it.

The Tea Party says, stop spending our money! Taxed enough, already! Cut Spending! Live within your means! No more bailouts! They believe in a smaller, more limited government.

#OWS says: Tax the rich. Spend more. Pay my bills! Bail me out! They believe capitalism is the problem – more government is the solution. They are overwhelmingly far left, anti-capitalist radicals. The tea party was truly peaceful and law abiding. #OWS is on the verge of exploding into a riot every night. There have been over 1,500 arrests already. There is virtually nothing positive about it. Who does he think he’s kidding?

Obama made the flattering comparison in an interview with Jake Tapper that will be aired, tonight:

“I understand the frustrations being expressed in those protests,” Obama told ABC Nws senior White House correspondent Jake Tapper in the interview to air this evening on ABC News “Nightline” from Jamestown, N.C.

“In some ways, they’re not that different from some of the protests that we saw coming from the Tea Party.  Both on the left and the right, I think people feel separated from their government. They feel that their institutions aren’t looking out for them,” he said.

The full Tapper interview with Obama will air tonight on “Nightline” at 11:35 ET.

Obama said the most important thing he can do as president is express solidarity with the protesters and redouble his commitment to achieving what he described as a more egalitarian society.

“The most important thing we can do right now is those of us in leadership letting people know that we understand their struggles and we are on their side, and that we want to set up a system in which hard work, responsibility, doing what you’re supposed to do, is rewarded,” Obama said. “And that people who are irresponsible, who are reckless, who don’t feel a sense of obligation to their communities and their companies and their workers that those folks aren’t rewarded.”

Obama alluded to his American Jobs Act, which would be funded in part by raising taxes on wealthier Americans and some corporations in order to make them pay “their fair share.”

And there he goes, stoking the poisonous class ware-fare rhetoric that has the anti-capitalist mob he supports so up in arms – just to promote his ridiculous non-starter of a jobs bill.

This comes as a new USA Today/Gallup poll shows that  more Americans blame Washington than Wall Street for the country’s economic woes.

Yet for weeks, the so-called Occupy Wall Street protesters have camped out in the heart of America’s financial district–and have raised their voices in cities across the country and around the world–decrying the capitalist system as the root of all evil.

On Sunday, these anti-capitalist protesters got a helping hand from none other than the President of the United States. Barack Obama was all too glad to lend support to the protests–which have at times been marked by shows of violence and lawlessnesssaying during a speech dedicating the Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial that King would have supported the movement. And yesterday, a White House official said that during his latest “jobs” bus tour, the President would be speaking to the ”the interests of the 99 percent of Americans”–echoing the protesters’ “99 percent” slogan.

It’s all very ironic. President Obama’s policies have helped create and prolong the economic conditions that are causing America’s frustrations. It’s not surprising that, at a time of 9.1 percent unemployment, there is great dissatisfaction with policies that hurt the economy while helping political cronies and bailing out banks and financial groups.

No wonder Obama has seen donations from Wall Street fall drastically since he was the favored candidate in 2008 (God only knows why):

Since this spring, Mr. Romney has raised $1.5 million from employees of firms like Morgan Stanley; Highbridge Capital Management, a hedge fund; and Blackstone, a private equity firm. Mr. Obama has raised just over $270,000 from firms that were among his leading sources of campaign cash in 2008.

That’s still a shocking amount of money for a Wall Street firm to give an anti-capitalist candidate.

Employees of Goldman Sachs, who in the 2008 campaign gave Mr. Obama over $1 million — more than donors from any other private employer in the country — have given him about $45,000 this year. Mr. Romney has raised about $350,000 from the firm’s employees.

#OWS Becomes A Den Of Thieves

As I’ve been saying, a whole host of left-wing pathologies are on display at the #occupy protests…

This is just one more thing you’ll never experience at a Tea Party.

The New York Post reports:

Occupy Wall Street protesters said yesterday that packs of brazen crooks within their ranks have been robbing their fellow demonstrators blind, making off with pricey cameras, phones and laptops — and even a hefty bundle of donated cash and food.

“Stealing is our biggest problem at the moment,” said Nan Terrie, 18, a kitchen and legal-team volunteer from Fort Lauderdale.

“I had my Mac stolen — that was like $5,500. Every night, something else is gone. Last night, our entire [kitchen] budget for the day was stolen, so the first thing I had to do was . . . get the message out to our supporters that we needed food!”

Crafty cat burglars sneaked into the makeshift kitchen at Zuccotti Park overnight and swiped as much as $2,500 in donated greenbacks from right under the noses of volunteers who’d fallen asleep after a long day whipping up meals for the hundreds of hungry protesters, the volunteers said.

“The worst thing is there’s people sleeping in the kitchen when they come, and they don’t even know about it! There are some really smart and sneaky thieves here,” Terrie said.

“I had umbrellas stolen, a fold-up bed I brought because my back is bad — they took that, too!”

“The people united will never be defeated” -

“This is what Democracy looks like!” -

“Tax the rich” -

“I’m taking your stuff!”

It should surprise no one that a materialistic movement that seeks to “redistribute wealth”, and is characterized by a pathological class envy would have this problem.

Poll Shows Most #OWS Protesters Are Militant Leftists – 98% Support Civil Disobedience, 31% Support Violence to Advance Their Agenda.

It’s a bit frightening that the President of the United States is openly identifying with these people.

So far, what we have been reporting – the fact that OWS is almost entirely made up of radical Marxists – has been based on the pictures, videos and news accounts. Now we have polling data that confirms what our eyes and ears have been telling us.

Pollster, Douglas Schoen, writing for the Wall Street Journal thinks that may come back to haunt him in 2012:

Last week, senior White House adviser David Plouffe said that “the protests you’re seeing are the same conversations people are having in living rooms and kitchens all across America. . . . People are frustrated by an economy that does not reward hard work and responsibility, where Wall Street and Main Street don’t seem to play by the same set of rules.” Nancy Pelosi and others have echoed the message.

As I noted at Left-Wing Institute For Civil Discourse, um…..no, most Americans do not identify with those weirdos, and are most certainly not “having the same conversations in their living rooms and kitchen tables. What absurd and condescending nonsense.

How insulting to our intelligence, to presume that we sound like these maroons.

Schoen continues:

The protesters have a distinct ideology and are bound by a deep commitment to radical left-wing policies. On Oct. 10 and 11, Arielle Alter Confino, a senior researcher at my polling firm, interviewed nearly 200 protesters in New York’s Zuccotti Park. Our findings probably represent the first systematic random sample of Occupy Wall Street opinion.

Our research shows clearly that the movement doesn’t represent unemployed America and is not ideologically diverse. Rather, it comprises an unrepresentative segment of the electorate that believes in radical redistribution of wealth, civil disobedience and, in some instances, violence. Half (52%) have participated in a political movement before, virtually all (98%) say they would support civil disobedience to achieve their goals, and nearly one-third (31%) would support violence to advance their agenda.

***What binds a large majority of the protesters together—regardless of age, socioeconomic status or education—is a deep commitment to left-wing policies: opposition to free-market capitalism and support for radical redistribution of wealth, intense regulation of the private sector, and protectionist policies to keep American jobs from going overseas.

***
Thus Occupy Wall Street is a group of engaged progressives who are disillusioned with the capitalist system and have a distinct activist orientation. Among the general public, by contrast, 41% of Americans self-identify as conservative, 36% as moderate, and only 21% as liberal. That’s why the Obama-Pelosi embrace of the movement could prove catastrophic for their party.

By embracing #OWS, a radical group that does not reflect American values, Obama will lose even more Independents than he’s lost already. I don’t know who’s advising the President, but someone should tell him that without Independents, he has no chance of victory.

But as Keith Koffler suggested, Obama may not be able to help himself:

Obama is a former community organizer who was rated the most liberal member of the Senate. These kinds of protests are in his blood. He is no more able to condemn them than he is able to reject himself.

It’s disconcerting that this president appears to harbor some radical notions. What scares is when he is supportive of those who would make such ideas reality by toppling the system he presides over and has pledged to defend.

We will be living in disconcerting times for the foreseeable future, I think, because the radical left-wing mob will not be going away no matter who wins in 2012. And if a Republican wins, they will be even larger and shriller.

Video: From The Archives – Herman Cain Sings “Imagine There’s No Pizza”

The best thing about this? It shows you just how multi-talented the Hermanator is. The man can really sing!

Via Allahpundit at Hot Air:

An instant classic via the Omaha World-Herald, which dug up this ham-tastic 20-year-old performance at the Omaha Press Club as part of its look back at Cain’s years in Nebraska working for Godfather’s Pizza. Watching it, two things are clear. One: Lennon’s ode to possessions-less brotherhood actually makes a hell of a corporate jingle. And two: The inauguration ball is going to be amazing.

Lyrics at Hot Air.

And heeere we go! Huffpo makes a shocking discovery:Pizza Magnate Herman Cain Has Extensive Ties To Powerful Koch Group:

Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain has cast himself as the outsider, the pizza magnate with real-world experience who will bring fresh ideas to the nation’s capital. But Cain’s economic ideas, support and organization have close ties to two billionaire brothers who bankroll right-leaning causes through their group Americans for Prosperity.

Cain’s campaign manager and a number of aides have worked for Americans for Prosperity, or AFP, the advocacy group founded with support from billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch, which lobbies for lower taxes and less government regulation and spending. Cain credits a businessman who served on an AFP advisory board with helping devise his “9-9-9″ plan to rewrite the nation’s tax code. And his years of speaking at AFP events have given the businessman and radio host a network of loyal grassroots fans.

The once little-known businessman’s political activities are getting fresh scrutiny these days since he soared to the top of some national polls.

His links to the Koch brothers could undercut his outsider, non-political image among people who detest politics as usual and candidates connected with the party machine.

AFP tapped Cain as the public face of its “Prosperity Expansion Project,” and he traveled the country in 2005 and 2006 speaking to activists who were starting state-based AFP chapters from Wisconsin to Virginia. Through his AFP work he met Mark Block, a longtime Wisconsin Republican operative hired to lead that state’s AFP chapter in 2005 as he rebounded from an earlier campaign scandal that derailed his career.

And so on and so forth. It’s so cute when liberals try to pretend that the Koch brothers are evil incarnate because they support libertarian causes, while failing to notice that the genuinely malevolent Mr. George Soros is prime mover behind the Democratic “Shadow Party” network.

It just cracks me up every time.

On Sale Now: Three Days In August: A U.S. Army Special Forces Soldier’s Fight for Military Justice

-

Bob McCarty’s first book, Three Days In August: A U.S. Army Special Forces Soldier’s Fight for Military Justice, goes in print versions at booksellers everywhere Oct. 19. The ebook is on sale, now.

The book tells the story of the wrongly convicted soldier,  Sgt. 1st Class Kelly A. Stewart, who recently spoke out in an email to friends and supporters:

For the first time since he was convicted by a court-martial panel and sentenced to eight years behind bars at Fort Leavenworth, former Army Special Forces Sgt. 1st Class Kelly A. Stewart — the man whose story is chronicled in the new book, Three Days In August: A U.S. Army Special Forces Soldier’s Fight for Military Justice — reached out to his friends and supporters today via the email below:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It seems strange that I am finally addressing what is going on with my family, and in my life. Throughout this whole ordeal, I have tried to protect my friends and family from the stigma associated with my trial and conviction. I have in no way been disloyal to the Army or my Regiment. I have not been outspoken about the mishandlings of my trial. And I will not begin today.

I am writing now because a book is being published with detailed information regarding my case. While still in prison, a manifesto of the book was written. After my parole, I gave the author my first ever interview with strict guidelines that the official trial transcript be included so readers would be fully informed about the events that had transpired. I wanted the book to tell the whole truth. I have exposed my entire life in detail to allow the reader to make their own assessment.

I am INNOCENT of the crimes for which I have been convicted and sentenced. I am guilty of betraying my wife and words can never express the sorrow I feel for what I have done to those that I love. I decidedly had a one night stand and thought getting caught would be the worst case scenario. At the time, I could never have imagined that the ripple effect from the stone I cast would touch so many people.

Throughout these past 2 years, the ripple hasn’t slowed. I am not referring to the loss of my career or my time spent in prison. Larger in scale are issues to include my parent’s daily struggles with finances and health during their golden years, my friends’ military careers being affected due to their support of me, and my children growing beyond what I ever knew of them. I yearn for the day that the ripple will stop negatively affecting those around me.

To date, my family and I have had a small group of reliable supporters; My mother, Father, Heidi, Spike, Credie, Darlene, Neil, Bob, Jim, Clay, Gerri, Feryat, Bojan and Michael. (There are more but they will remain anonymous per request.) Through it all, they have NEVER wavered. Many of these people have asked for your support in some form but until now, I personally have not; this was not because of my pride, it was because I was hopeless and lost. I have always prided myself on helping and giving to others and during this dark time, I have been fortunate enough to call certain people brothers, sisters and mothers, for the support they have given to my family. Unfortunately, there have also been many people making judgments based solely on hearsay and those who think ‘this is not directly affecting my life so why get involved?’ The book coming out will address the hearsay and I hope after reading it, you will see the injustices and be motivated to speak out against them.

I have remained quiet for a long time but today I am standing here before god and everyone acknowledging my faults, and making a promise to NEVER again betray my wife or bring shame upon our military or country. Today I ask for your help. I ask that you support this book. I ask and plead with you to stand by me in this fight. Every voice is more important than you will ever know. I have attached links below I hope each and everyone of you will do your best to support them. Either with sending it to our community, or to future supporters . Anything you do I am grateful beyond words.

I love our country. I love the Army. But mistakes have been made and not just by me. I hope what you read angers you. I hope it inspires you.

I hope the truth will finally set me free…

A one page synopsis of the book can be read, here.

More than 1,500 #Occupy Protesters Arrested, Thus Far

Not something you’d see at your average Tea Party.

According to The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama more than 1,500 protesters across the country have  been for arrested since the protests began. Charges include assaulting police officers, disorderly contact, trespassing and more.

Here’s a rundown of the arrests we’ve thus far been able to document, by date:

  • September 18 – New York, NY: 2 Arrests
  • September 19 – New York, NY: 5 Arrests
  • September 24 – New York, NY: 80 Arrests
  • October 1 – New York, NY: 700 Arrests
  • October 5- St. Louis, MO: 10 Arrests
  • October 6 – Los Angeles, CA: 11 Arrests
  • October 6 – San Francisco, CA: 1 Arrest
  • October 6 – Santa Barbara, CA: 9 Arrests
  • October 7 – Sacramento, CA: 19 Arrests
  • October 8 – Des Moines, IA: 32 Arrests
  • October 11 – Boston, MA: 140 Arrests
  • October 11 – Washington, D.C.: 6 Arrests
  • October 11 – Chicago, IL: 21 Arrests
  • October 12 – Houston, TX: 8 Arrests
  • October 12 – San Francisco, CA: 11 Arrests
  • October 13 – Austin, TX: 4 Arrests
  • October 13 – Seattle, WA: 10 Arrests
  • October 13 – Portland, OR: 8 Arrests
  • October 13 – Gainesville, FL: 4 Arrests
  • October 14 – New York, NY: 14 Arrests
  • October 14 – Seattle, WA: 1 Arrests
  • October 14 – Denver, CO: 24 Arrests
  • October 14 – San Diego, CA: 1 Arrest
  • October 15 – New York, NY: 92 Arrests
  • October 15 – Minneapolis, MN: 1 Arrest
  • October 15 – Raleigh, NC: 15 Arrests
  • October 15 – Tucson, AZ: 53 Arrests
  • October 15 – Phoenix, AZ: 46 Arrests
  • October 16 – Chicago, IL: 175 Arrests
  • October 16 – Washington, D.C.: 19 Arrests
  • October 16 – Phoenix, AZ: 3 Arrests

By way of comparison, the “extreme” and “radical” tea party has seen in the past two and a half years approximately…… 0 arrests, unless, of course,  a left-wing counter-protester showed up. Then very possibly, the left-wing counter protester got arrested.

The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama notes that if anything, the arrests they’ve documented are understated.

You see, liberal city officials across the country have allowed protesters to engage in unlawful behavior that if YOU were to engage in, you’d be arrested for.

However, these Democrat officials have allowed protesters to break the law, and have instructed law enforcement to engage in these illegal acts without consequence.

This is in stark contrast to rallies held by the Tea Party movement where protests were peaceful and where participants thanked law enforcement officials and cleaned up after themselves.

It’s time to call these protest mobs for what they are:  unruly mobs laced with socialists and communists who are intent on attacking the American principles of free markets and capitalism.

The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama is asking for help in getting the truth out to the American people. Obama and the Democrats have latched on the the Occupy movement, (much of it spurred on by Obama’s class warfare rhetoric), and they are hoping for it to buoy them up in time for the 2012 elections.

Via Da TechGuy, the Sultan of Knish sums up very well what’s going on,  here:

The protests are a misnomer as they are not a protest against, but a show of support for a troubled administration playing its last class warfare card. Plan A was for the media to insist that the recovery was here. But Plan A is roadkill because no one actually bought into the Summer of Recovery. That just leaves Plan B which is to run against the economic crisis on a class warfare platform.

Conceptually it makes no sense for the established party to run as the opposition, but the Obama cult has broken all sorts of rules before and its program has never made any sense. Stir up enough chaos in the street, roll out the red carpet and write up the speech promising to save the nation and it might work. Dictators have done it often enough before.

***

We here at The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama are preparing a national TV ad campaign exposing these mobs for what they are, and the fact that Democrat political leaders are shamefully providing them cover.   We’ve raised enough money to produce these TV ads (which are nearly compete), but now need to raise money to purchase the airtime for these ads to be seen.  Please help us purchase TV ad time for this effort by making a contribution – HERE.

Rasmussen: Cain 43%, Obama 41%

Bam!

Rasmussen reports:

Whether Herman Cain’s surge in the polls is temporary or has staying power, he’s enjoying a big enough bounce to take a very slight lead over President Obama in a hypothetical 2012 matchup. At the moment, the Georgia businessman is the only Republican with a lead of any kind over Obama, although former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has held a similar advantage several times and is currently trailing the president by just two points.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters shows Cain attracting 43% support, while Obama earns 41%. Given such a matchup, eight percent (8%) prefer some other candidate, and another eight percent (8%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Via The Other McCain, among Republican Primary candidates: Cain Takes Lead In South Carolina

And Michelle Malkin has taken to hawking nose-plugs to help conservatives get through the election. She’s not thrilled with any of the GOP candidates.

Her problems with Cain:

His endorsement of pal Alan Greenspan’s Fed tenure shows too much trust for the central banking bureaucrats who helped inflate the housing bubble and who, like Naked Emperor Henry Paulson, engineered the era of endless bailouts.

For all his Tea Party cred and outside-the-Beltway status, Cain fell for the gun-to-our-heads, Chicken Little propaganda and supported TARP — vigorously — when America needed every consistent fiscal conservative voice possible to try and stop the predictable, all-purpose morphing of the bank bailout before it started.

My conservative instincts at the time of the bailout was for the government to butt out, and let the chips fall where they may.

But I also respected the opinions of conservatives who, perhaps, had a greater understanding of the economic issues at hand – like Paul Ryan, and Herman Cain.

The vast majority of  economists were saying that it was the only choice at the time. We had to save our banks from going under to avoid a world-wide depression.  I don’t hold this one against them.

Video: Issa On CBS’s Face The Nation – Is FBI hiding Evidence on “Fast and Furious”?

Rep. Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee, went on CBS News Face the Nation, Sunday, with Sharyl Attkisson to discuss the ongoing Fast and Furious investigation.

The House Oversight Committee plans to ask the FBI whether all the guns that were used to kill a federal agent are accounted for. Sharyl Attkisson reports on the latest of the fallout from the “fast and furious” operation.

If we are to believe Attorney General Eric Holder, he knew nothing about “Project Gunwalker” while it was being implemented, and did not first hear of it until a few weeks before Darrell Issa asked him about it in a May House Committee on Oversight and Government reform hearing.

If we are to believe him, any briefings he received did not discuss gunwalking. Plus he never read reports from senior staff.

If we are to believe administration apologists, not only is this so, but gunwalking was confined to the Phoenix office and the operations were conducted from the bottom, while senior ATF and DOJ managers were blissfully kept in the dark.

And Issa is on “a witch hunt.”  So there.

The purpose of this column is not to debate those points—anyone paying attention knows about the involvement of other departments and agencies and documented reports of gunwalking occurring in other locales.

The Neo-Cannibals, Marxists, Anarchists, Deadbeats, Dopers and Democrats of #OccupyDenver

Neo-cannibals seemed to be everywhere. Above, a sign adorned with a skull with a red anarchist ‘A,’ and bloody knife and fork recall the peak of the psychedelic revolution in 1969, when Charles Manson and his crew of hippy chicks went on a murder spree and bragged about defiling the corpses of their wealthy victims with flatware. President Obama’s friends, infamous terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn, shocked the world by publicly rejoicing and declaring the three-fingered fork sign as a new revolutionary symbol. This guy looks ready to chow down. Via El Marco

The #Occupy movement wants us to believe that they are a mainstream group of people fed up with a Capitalist system that doesn’t work for them. They want jobs,  think the corporations have too much power, and the rich should pay more in taxes. The least radical aspects of their vision closely matches the agenda of the our current President and the Democrat party.  They presumptuously claim to represent 99% of us, although, the least radical among them would only seem to appeal to liberal Democrats, only 29% of the electorate. Another 9%, or those who identify as “very liberal” (Socialist) seem to be over represented at these rallies. I have no idea where the anarchists and neo-cannibals fit in, but they are prominent  fixtures at all of these protests, as well.

No, this is not a reasonable, mainstream group of Americans. Their mob actions in major cities across the nation - provoking the police into violent confrontations, last weekend and in past weekends belie their weak proclamations of being  sweet and innocent, law-abiding, peace-loving activists. Perhaps certain factions of the #occupy movement are more peace-loving than others, but as a whole, they are there to make trouble. As Andrew Breitbart noted upon perusal of the group’s emails, acquired by Big Government:

The true purpose of the Occupy movement appears to be further economic and governmental destabilization, at a time when the world is already facing major financial and political challenges.

#Occupy participants who fail to acknowledge this basic fact about the movement they’re involved with are either useful idiots, or actively trying to fool you.

Photo-journalist, El Marcobrought his camera to the #OccupyDenver protest, this weekend, to give you Exibit #49,938 why the #occupy movement is anything but mainstream.

“Occupy Denver” returned to the streets with a vengeance Saturday after being expelled, having their camp forcibly removed from Veterans’ Park by police at 4 a.m. Friday morning. October 15 was declared International Day of Action, which saw radical socialist/anarchist protests and violence in European and American cities.

The Occupy Denver crowd reached approximately 2000 – 3,000.

The violent Jacobin tendency among socialists was evident in many of the signs carried at this march.

This leather-clad woman brought her own megaphone and spoke in a faux-Russian accent about “extra-terrestrial financing,” and other important topics relevant to the day’s march. She calls herself Mufti.

These people wonder why they don’t have jobs. Well, look at them:

One of the focuses, understandably, of the rally was the desperate need in America for jobs. While the blame for the unemployment situation was placed on the “bankers” for “ruining our economy”, many of the participants appeared to be the authors of their own misfortune. Pop-culture fashion today dictates that women and men put huge tattoos across their chests, arms, legs, backs, hands, and if they are really daring, on their faces. Top that off with a matted mass of mop-like dreadlocks and a few rings and studs piercing nostrils, eyelids, and lips, and you may be out of luck when it comes to finding a job. Add to that habitual drug use, including the chronic lethargy, munchies, and short-term memory loss caused by smoking high potency modern cannabis, and you have created a person that not even the most open-minded liberal will employ. But it’s always easier to blame the bankers than to face the reality of bad choices that ruin a person’s life.

See El Marco’s post at Looking at The Left for lots more pictures from the protest, and his full report.

The Denver Post reported about 49 arrests over the weekend for #OccupyDenver participants:

Justin “Crunchy” Gwin has built four iterations of the camp kitchen — dubbed the Thunderdome. The first he cobbled together with a meat cleaver, duct tape and cardboard. By Thunderdome No. 3, he had graduated to lumber.

But by 6:30 p.m. Saturday, he had erected No. 4, a tent kitchen, and refused to tear it down. Gwin said riot police responded unjustly with pepper spray and force.

That was when Justin Wilson was arrested.

“I had some degree of respect for DPD until last night. They lost my respect,” Wilson said. “We were being peaceful. We were not resisting at all.”

In all, police arrested 49 people Friday and Saturday. All but two have been released on bond that ranged from personal recognizance to $1,000, said Capt. Frank Gale, spokesman for the Denver Sheriff Department.

The two who remain in jail have warrants

against them from other counties, Gale said.

More than 20 lawyers have volunteered to provide pro-bono aid to those arrested, said Catherine Keffer, 29, a member of Occupy Denver’s legal team.

There were over 70 arrested at the #OccupyWallStreet protest in NYC, and 175 arrested at #OccupyChicago.

Ace: OWS Is Almost Entirely Socialist/Marxist:

Kevin D. Williamson finds the same:

I’ve been spending as much time as I can down at Occupy Wall Street, listening to the speeches, reading the literature, talking to the organizers. Here’s something to keep in mind: You’ll hear in a lot of the conservative media that this is some kind of socialist/communist enterprise piggybacking on a populist protest. In reality, it is much worse than even most of the conservative media is reporting.Almost every organization present at OWS is explicitly communist or socialist. Almost every piece of literature being handed out is explicitly communist or socialist. I don’t mean half, and I don’t mean the overwhelming majority — I mean almost all of it. Yes, there are the usual union goons trying to figure out how to get OWS to do the bidding of the AFL-CIO and the Democratic party, and the usual smattering of New Age goo (the “Free Empathy” table) and po-mo Left wackiness (animal-rights nuts), the inevitable Let’s-Eradicate-Israel crowd (“Free Palestine, from the river to the sea!”). But, that being said, almost every organized enterprise and piece of printed material I have encountered has been socialist or communist. It’s been a long time since I saw anybody peddling books by Lenin. It’s been a long time since anybody told me the Ukrainians had it coming.

The media found the one or two racists in the Tea Party and made them the face of the movement; meanwhile, it finds the one or two people who are not avowedly Marxist and makes them the standard-bearer.

White House Dossier’s Keith Koffler weighs in:

President Obama is intensifying his identification with the Occupy Wall Street movement.

This is truly frightening.

It would be one thing for Obama to practice benign neglect, to communicate that everyone has a right to protest without really commenting on the movement itself.

But it must be unprecedented for a president of the United States to suggest an affinity for radical leftists who despise capitalism and seek to upend the economic and political system.

I’ve watched enough video and seen enough commentary out of the Occupy Everything crowd to understand who these people are. They are not average people out of work who want jobs, or mainstream Democratic Party reformers who believe in more regulation and government programs.

These are stereotypical leftists who want wrenching change that cannot be achieved by democratic means and that would require the type of government or third party intervention into the economy and people’s lives that is incompatible with democracy.

But Obama has thrown in with these people, starting with his press conference statement earlier this month that they are expressing “the frustrations that the American people feel.”

I agree completely that by overtly supporting this openly Marxist, and anti-Semitic movement, Obama has given us a very bad omen of things to come. Nothing this President does surprises me, anymore, so when something like this happens, I tend to shrug, now, and say, “Of course”. But a President throwing in with lawless radicals is something that should chill us all to the bone.

November 2012 cannot get here soon enough.

Video: Herman Cain – “Make My Day!”

Accuracy In Media had a little fun with Herman Cain’s speech at the Value Voters Summit in Washington DC, last weekend, giving it a “Godfather”  theme as the Hermanator brings down the house.

Watch:

The full speech can be viewed at Townhall.

The Politico: Former Fed colleagues praise Herman Cain:

Bill McQuillan, the CEO of a community bank in Greeley, Neb., first met Herman Cain two decades ago on a flight from Omaha to Kansas City for a meeting of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

Not long after that, he was impressed enough with Cain, then the CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, to make a modest suggestion: That he “take a look” at running for president

“He looked at me and said, ‘Are you kidding me?’ ” McQuillan recalled. “And 15 or 20 years later, here he is.”

JP Attitude has a few things to says about the racist leftwing pigpile on Herman Cain: The lynching of Herman Cain:

Since Herman Cain won the straw poll in Florida two weeks ago, he’s been attacked by Lawrence O’Donnell of MSNBC for “insulting the intelligence of black people” and accused by both O’Donnell and NBC’s Martin Bashir of standing on the sidelines during the civil rights movement. He’s been called “simple” by the Washington Post, a “bad apple” and “false Negro” who was “denied intelligence” by Harry Belafonte, and compared with a segregationist by ESPN’s Kevin Blackistone. At a website called Your Black World, some vicious little miscreant named Dr. Boyce Watkins, called Cain “the perfect racist… the cute little political puppet which allows white America to say the things that they are afraid to say.” And the dumbest man on television, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, not only accused Cain of “pandering to white Republicans out there who don’t like black folks,” but even extended the racial attack line to Senator Jim DeMint, simply because Cain hinted that DeMint might be his choice for V.P. Schultz accused DeMint of using an “old southern racist term” when he used the word “break.”

That’s B-R-E-A-K.

Gee, I gotta admit, that’s a new one. I grew up in an integrated neighborhood, attended integrated schools, grew up and married a black woman, have a black son, and rooted fanatically for Isiah Thomas and the Detroit Pistons who often ran very fast down the basketball court to score before the other team could set up their defense, and nobody ever told me I wasn’t supposed to use the word “break.”

Something tells me the doughy-white Schultz doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about.

Read it all. JP’s got a pretty good handle on what’s going on.

Your Sunday Hymn: Psalm 96

This was not the Psalm 96 I was looking for, but it’s such a delight, I decided to to post it.

Kairos: A Consort of Singers, a vocal ensemble located in West Park, NY, performs Psalm 96, “Chantez a Dieu, chanson nouvelle” (Sing to the Lord a New Song) by 16th century Dutch composer Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. Recorded at Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, NY in June, 2009.

Buttah.
