The Obama Christmas Classic Basketball Game to Benefit…. Inner City Youth Obama

Just when you think it’s impossible for this President to demonstrate  any more hubris than he has already….

Fox News reports Obama’s re-election campaign is bringing together more than two dozen National Basketball Association stars for a fundraising basketball game, named after himself – the “Obama Classic Basketball Game” on Dec. 12 in Washington….to benefit his re-election.

With the NBA season in jeopardy because of the lockout, the game will serve as a fundraising All-star game. Others confirmed to play include Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul and Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard.

Tickets range from $100 to $5,000 for courtside seats. The money will go to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising account by the Democratic Party and Obama’s re-election campaign.

For up to $5,000 a ticket, the target audience must be the 1%.
We’re already seeing reports this holiday season that with so many people out of work and struggling to keep above water in the Obama economy, people are worried about how they are going to manage their Christmas Shopping.
But fear not, to help get them in a festive mood they can watch Pharaoh Obama’s all-star basketball game to benefit -  – -  Obama.

UPDATE II:
Huffington Post reports that the president hasn’t decided whether or not he will even attend the event let alone suit up for it.
As for the players, they are participating as volunteers for the campaign, which seems to blur the line of federal election law but apparently doesn’t cross it.

House Republicans for a Balanced Budget Amendment:

This week, House Republican freshmen Members held a press conference to discuss the importance of passing a balanced budget amendment to the United States Constitution and how now is the time for a permanent solution to our nation’s spending-driven debt crisis. We need a balanced budget amendment to ensure a prosperous future for our children and grandchildren. It’s the right thing to do.

Thanks to Judicial Watch, we now have more evidence that Kagan fibbed during her sworn testimony.

• An October 13, 2009, exchange between Kagan and former Deputy Solicitor General Neal Katyal. Katyal informs Kagan, “We just got Snowe on health care,” referring to Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME). (The bulk of the email exchange reflects a discussion about Kagan, and also provides instructions regarding a hiring decision within the agency, although the nature of the position is unclear. When Katyal asks if Kagan wants to handle the hire via email or in person meeting, Kagan responds, “In person. I’ll call a meeting when I return.”)

• A March 21, 2010, email from Kagan to then-Senior Counselor for Access to Justice Laurence Tribe: “I hear they have the votes Larry!! Simply amazing…” Tribe responds, “So healthcare is basically done! Remarkable.”

• A March 16, 2010, email from Kagan to David Barron, then-acting head of the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel, asked if he had seen an article by Michael McConnell published in the Wall Street Journal that discussed a strategy by Democrats to “‘deem’ ObamaCare into Law without voting.” “Did you seee [sic] Michael McConnell’s piece in the wsj?” Kagan writes in an email with the subject line “Health care q.” “YES, HE IS GETTING THIS GOING,” replied Barron.

I wasn’t sure based on the email shown on the video, but with that additional information, she sure as hell needs to recuse herself.

Video: Picking Winners and Losers: Obama Silent as Fannie and Freddie Executives Receive Millions in Bonuses – but Ripped “Fat-Cat Bankers” for “Obscene Bonuses”

The Committee on Government Oversight and Reform created this video to remind people of the President’s strong stance against “fat cat bankers” receiving bonuses:

On  Wednesday, the  House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a hearing entitled, “Pay for Performance: Should Fannie and Freddie Executives Be Receiving Millions In Bonuses?”  The hearing examined executive compensation issues at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which are currently held in conservatorship by the Federal Government. Issa played a clip of the above video to start off the hearing:

Key Moments (via Oversight and Reform):

  • “What benchmarks are Fannie and Freddie meeting for such bonuses to kick in, especially in light of the taxpayer loss of approximately $170 billion?” – Rep. Walberg
  • “As I’ve reported in my written statement, these losses that the taxpayers are absorbing are a result of business decisions made pre-conservatorship and mortgages that were originated pre-conservatorship. And one of the focal points for the executive compensation for the executives of Fannie and Freddie are their efforts to try to minimize losses on that book of business. They can’t undo mortgages that are made, but what they can do is they can take aggressive actions to mitigate those losses through loan modifications and other foreclosure prevention activities. And I report monthly to the House Financial Services Committee and the Senate Banking Committee on the efforts that have been undertaken to that end and the array of things in which they are assessed and go to efforts to minimize losses, undertake homeowner assistance, assure that there is ongoing liquidity in the market, and to be working with us on things, such as the servicing improvements.” – Mr. DeMarco
  • “But in light of all that continues on and in light of what Mr. Cummings mentioned also about his people, likewise in my state of Michigan, you stated your opposition yesterday to putting these executives on par with the federal pay scale…  Why do you oppose that? And do you believe federal agencies cannot perform their duties because they don’t offer Wall Street-sized paychecks?” – Rep. Walberg

  • “I oppose it simply for the matter that I believe enacting that and immediately putting all the employees at Fannie and Freddie on a completely different pay scale is going to result in the taxpayer losses to Fannie and Freddie going up, not down… These remain business entities, and they remain regulated entities. They are not government agencies.” – Mr. DeMarco
  • “I understand all of that. Our citizens don’t. We’re at tough times, and sometimes difficult decisions have to be made. And if indeed there’s public service like you indicated, that you want to provide a service, then I think the two gentlemen seated next to you have indicated the same thing. They’re challenges we face.” – Mr. Walberg
  • “Earlier this year, you stated that you would leave to the FHFA what your appropriate compensation would be. If Mr. DeMarco changed course and decided that your compensation should be curtailed, would you be fine with that?” – Rep. Walberg
  • “I would evaluate my own personal options, but that would be the decision of the Board and Director DeMarco.” – Mr. Williams
  • “Don’t you think we could get qualified people to do your jobs and the jobs of those other senior executives without having to pay millions of dollars?” – Rep. Farenthold
  • “This is a new team. We’ve reduced executive compensation by 50%. We’ve reduced the number of senior executives by 30%. But I can tell you, are these jobs competitive? Yes. In the course of three months, I lost five senior vice presidents – out of the company, two with financial services and other companies where I can assure you they were making more money and had better career prospects as a result. These are challenging jobs in challenging circumstances, and we need to pay and reward the people who are doing the job.” – Mr. Williams
  • “Mr. Haldeman, as far as Freddie Mac, you’re the CEO. Do you think it [is a success]?” – Dr. Desjarlais

  • “I would divide the company into two parts, and this is, in part, a reference to an earlier question of whether I would invest in Freddie Mac… I would definitely invest in the company from 2009 on. I’m incredibly proud of the work of our employees from 2009 on. We have a very, very high quality book. Our people are entirely committed to making sure that we participate in responsible lending going forward.” – Mr. Haldeman
  • “Are they justified, then? Should they be given two to three million dollar bonuses?” – Dr. Desjarlais
  • “I believe given the framework that was put in place, they are justified because the framework was designed in consultation with the Special Master of Treasury looking at large financial institutions that operate as private companies, not as government agencies, to develop a compensation structure in amounts, I believe what we struck here was an appropriate balance cognizant of what the marketplace looks like.” – Mr. DeMarco
  • “At what year will Fannie have repaid the Treasury?” – Rep. McHenry
  • “As you know with a 10% dividend on the amount that’s drawed, we will never fully be able to pay back the amount that’s due to the Treasury.” – Mr. Williams

  • “What year will the GSEs be able to repay the taxpayers for this extraordinary support?” – Rep. McHenry

  • “I do not believe they will repay the taxpayer in full.” – Mr. DeMarco
  • “Ever?” – Rep. McHenry
  • “Unless we keep this conservatorship going to my children and beyond, no.” – Mr. DeMarco

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the government picking winners and losers – government interventions using taxpayer money, extracted by the force of law,  against the taxpayers will — a form of Fascism?

Rick Perry To O’Reilly: “Absolutely, He’s a Socialist”

Bill O’Reilly is still not clear on this point? How much more evidence does he need? Of course Obama’s a Socialist, Perry tells him unabashedly. But-but-but Socialism seizes private property, O’Reilly demurs.  Perry brings up the death tax. Okay, good point.

Let’s not forget the looting of the Chrysler and GM bondholders. Under Obama, the Dem majority nationalized health care, one sixth of the economy. Another one sixth was taken over with Net Neutrality. He’s shut down drilling in the Gulf, killing tens of thousands of jobs, he’s postponed shale gas drilling in Ohio for another half year, killing 200,000 more  jobs.  He nixed the Canadian oil pipeline until after his election.

Obama is choking the oil industry, the lifeblood of America.

His labor board tells private companies where they can and can’t build plants. He gives huge government loans to green businesses he knows are doomed to fail. His DOJ sells high powered assault weapons to criminals so they can use the ensuing carnage to blame gun dealers and take away our gun rights.

Since the Republicans gained control of the House, he increasingly rules by executive fiat.

He’s killing our economy with his Socialist policies – Is it any wonder businesses are reluctant to invest under Socialist Obama?

Friday Free-For-All

The New York Post: Runaway mom dreadlocked up:

I haven’t done one of these in awhile…

These are the stories that caught my attention today:

Big Government: 80% of Green Energy Loans Went To Obama Donors:

With Energy Secretary Steven Chu set to testify Thursday before the House Energy and Commerce Committee about the government’s $573 million loan to failed solar panel maker Solyndra, an explosive new list of energy loan amounts to President Obama’s top fundraisers, bundlers, and supporters has been released by Breitbart editor Peter Schweizer, author of Throw Them All Out.

As the list reveals, 80 percent of all $20.5 billion in Department of Energy loans went to President Obama’s top donors. Furthermore, some of those dwarf in size those given to Obama bundler George Kaiser, owner of the now defunct Solyndra.

The list—which features the likes of Google owners Larry Page and Sergey Brinn, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Ted Turner, John Doerr, and Al Gore—raises new questions about the procedures used to administer the now-controversial DOE loans.

Ann Barnhardt in the news, via The Blaze: ‘Going Galt’: Hedge Broker Shuts Down Firm With Chilling Letter About the Market:

Everything changed just a few short weeks ago. A firm, led by a crony of the Obama regime, stole all of the non-margined cash held by customers of his firm. Let’s not sugar-coat this or make this crime seem “complex” and “abstract” by drowning ourselves in six-dollar words and uber-technical jargon. Jon Corzine STOLE the customer cash at MF Global. Knowing Jon Corzine, and knowing the abject lawlessness and contempt for humanity of the Marxist Obama regime and its cronies, this is not really a surprise. What was a surprise was the reaction of the exchanges and regulators. Their reaction has been to take a bad situation and make it orders of magnitude worse. Specifically, they froze customers out of their accounts WHILE THE MARKETS CONTINUED TO TRADE, refusing to even allow them to liquidate. This is unfathomable. The risk exposure precedent that has been set is completely intolerable and has destroyed the entire industry paradigm. No informed person can continue to engage these markets, and no moral person can continue to broker or facilitate customer engagement in what is now a massive game of Russian Roulette.

Another Senate Dem in trouble, via Rasmussen: Election 2012: Florida Senate:

Republican Congressman Connie Mack changed his mind late last month about challenging longtime Democratic Senator Bill Nelson in 2012, and now he finds himself with a modest edge over the incumbent in the first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Florida’s U.S. Senate race.

The latest statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state shows Mack with 43% to Nelson’s 39%.

We’re taking the Senate in 2012.

Sarah Palin in The WSJ: How Congress Occupied Wall Street:

The corruption isn’t confined to one political party or just a few bad apples. It’s an endemic problem encompassing leadership on both sides of the aisle. It’s an entire system of public servants feathering their own nests.

None of this surprises me. I’ve been fighting this type of corruption and cronyism my entire political career. For years Alaskans suspected that our lawmakers and state administrators were in the pockets of the big oil companies to the detriment of ordinary Alaskans. We knew we were being taken for a ride, but it took FBI wiretaps to finally capture lawmakers in the act of selling their votes. In the wake of politicos being carted off to prison, my administration enacted reforms based on transparency and accountability to prevent this from happening again.

We were successful because we had the righteous indignation of Alaskan citizens on our side. Our good ol’ boy political class in Juneau was definitely not with us. Business was good for them, so why would they want to end “business as usual”?

She fought corruption all right, as her movie The Undefeated documented so well. We could use a few more Sarah Palins in Congress.

Must see video at The Daily Caller: Chris Matthews spanked by KABC radio’s Larry Elder:

On his Thursday radio show — at Chris Matthews’ request — KABC radio host Larry Elder took on the MSNBC “Hardball” host about his politics and his new book, “Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero.” Elder seemed unimpressed with both.

ELDER: Chris, first do you still feel as a journalist, it is your job to help Obama succeed?

MATTHEWS: Well, I certainly feel it is my job to help any new president succeed and I said that. And I think it was true when I wrote it for Bush in 2000 with hopes that he would do well until he made some decisions I couldn’t live with and when that comes with Obama, I will break with him. So far he has done what I think he should, but he hasn’t been the leader I think he should be but he’s made the decisions I think I would make.

ELDER: Do you consider yourself a journalist?

MATTHEWS: Yeah, I’m a journalist. I’m a columnist. I’m a commentator

ELDER: No, no a journalist – you think you’re an objective down-the-middle journalist?

MATTHEWS: No, I’m not down the middle. I’m slightly to the left.

ELDER: Slightly to the left?

MATTHEWS: I’d say 40-yard-line.

In response, Elder played a clip of Matthews’ show from October in which he attacked the GOP, suggesting Republicans wanted to cause people pain. The interview went downhill from there.

Listen to it all. Elder did a masterful job putting Matthews in his place for being such a partisan hack, when Matthews thought he was just coming on to plug his book – (which Elder vigorously panned for being excessively partisan.)

Barack Obama postponed shale gas drilling in Ohio for another half year to please environmental groups. His latest move effectively kills 200,000 high-paying jobs in the swing state.
The Examiner reported:

President Obama’s United States Department of Agriculture has delayed shale gas drilling in Ohio for up to six months by cancelling a mineral lease auction for Wayne National Forest (WNF). The move was taken in deference to environmentalists, on the pretext of studying the effects of hydraulic fracturing.

You wait – the half year will be extended until after the election, which Obama expects to win – in which case shale gas drilling will be 86ed forever.

More of this from Ace:

Apart from the obvious — another 200,000 jobs delayed, and probably delayed for longer than six months; plus the general signal to business that Obama will attempt to make every endeavor your attempt extremely costly, so don’t even bother — this reinforces my belief that liberals celebrate the abstract over the concrete.

When you think about jobs liberals like, versus jobs conservatives like, you will generally find the that the more abstract a job is — and here I mean “abstract” to mean “removed from the physical, the concrete, and the dirty by one or more steps” — you’ll find that they tend to be soft jobs. Media advisor, writer, designer. One of the more concrete jobs they favor is the law, but that itself is far removed from actual production of goods — law does intersect with business, but far away from the actual production of goods. Where law intersects with business it does so in a paper way — businesses are referred to in court filings, but of course the businesses are abstracted, as the law just deals with them as legal actors. Not as real companies, with real workers and real management, producing real goods.

This is why liberals with something of a pragmatic streak go into politics. On one hand, politics does intersect with people’s lives in tangible ways. On the other hand, what makes politics attractive to this psychological type is that it’s a no-dirty-hands occupation. Everything is position papers and talking and media-type stuff.

As I’ve noted before, this all goes back to the Victorian fiction that a carpenter, who actually did a great deal of mental work, including creativity, in his job, was just a “hand worker” and therefore lower class while a drudge at the Bank of England, who merely did third-grade-level summing of accounts all day, was a “mind worker” and therefore middle class.

The liberal mindset is bewitched by this fiction — this daft, stupid fiction — and declares that everyone working in liberal-type fields must be of a different intellectual class than those lowly businessmen who merely manufacture goods that people wish to voluntarily buy.

Speaking of rapes….MRC TV: Occupiers to MRCTV: Rape Happens:

It sure does.

It seems to happen all the time at Occupy Wall Street Campouts throughout the country.

But instead of immediately condemning all of these rapes, this Occupy DC participant starts making excuses for the behavior.

As they were talking about not a lot of ‘incidents’ (everything included) going on at Occupy protests, we informed them there were 258 to date. That number includes incidents of rape, public masterbation, public defecation, and arson- just to name a few.

Then there’s this at MRC TV: The Meaning of the Occupiers Masks:

Newt in March of 2008 warning about the dangerous housing market, via Breitbart TV:Flashback: Newt Warned About Unstable Housing Market In 2008:
_
In 2008 Gingrich warned about the “dangerous” housing market while running American Solutions. Newt claimed in a recent debate that while he was an advisor in the financial sector he warned about the instability of the housing market. This video appears to back-up that claim.
I think this clip, in which a clearly hostile and dismissive David Letterman hectors him, show why people like Herman Cain. Rather than get upset at Letterman’s snark, Cain persists and actually wins Letterman’s audience over to the point that even Dave is forced to relent: (watch at link).
Charles Krauthammer at The Corner: The Pipeline Sellout:

Sure, the pipeline would have produced thousands of truly shovel-ready jobs. Sure, delay could forfeit to China a supremely important strategic asset — a nearby, highly reliable source of energy. But approval was calculated to be a political loss for the president. Easy choice.

It’s hard to think of a more clear-cut case of putting politics over nation. This from a president whose central campaign theme is that Republicans put party over nation, sacrificing country to crass political ends.

Nor is this the first time Obama’s election calendar trumped the national interest:

Obama’s decision to wind down the Afghan surge in September 2012 is militarily inexplicable. It comes during the fighting season. It was recommended by none of his own military commanders. It is explicable only as a talking point for the final days of his reelection campaign.

At the height of the debt-ceiling debate last July, Obama pledged to veto any agreement that was not long term. Definition of long term? By another amazing coincidence, any deal large enough to get him past Election Day (and thus avoid another such crisis next year).

Tuesday it was revealed that last year the administration pressured Solyndra, as it was failing, to delay its planned October 28 announcement of layoffs until November 3 — the day after the midterm election.

A contemporaneous e-mail from a Solyndra investor noted: “Oddly they didn’t give a reason for that date.” The writer was clearly born yesterday. The American voter was not — and (s)he soon gets to decide who really puts party over nation and reelection above all.

We can’t wait.

Doug Ross: The Definition Of Hubris:

(Can’t excerpt – it’s a graphic – just go look).

RE: The President’s “Longstanding Disapproval Of The Use Of His Image For Commercial Purposes”

So Benetton, an overpriced clothing company, decided it wanted to draw attention to its struggling business by using images of famous people kissing each other in what Keith Koffler calls its “I’M NOT GOING TO BE IGNORED advertising campaign.”

Here’s Benetton’s poster of Barack Obama locking lips with Hugo Chavez.

Although grossing people out seems like an odd  way to attract business, it would appear that no laws have been broken.

But the White House has weighed  in with this terse statement:

“The White House has a long-standing policy disapproving of the use of the president’s name and likeness for commercial purposes,” deputy press secretary Eric Schultz said in a statement. Schultz, according to Politico, declined to say if the White House would take action.

Really?

By longstanding policy, does he mean, since the time Benetton used the President’s likeness to make Pharaoh Obama look ridiculous?

If someone can point to me instances where this “long-standing policy disapproving of the use of the president’s name and likeness for commercial purposes” has ever manifested itself, before now, I’d much appreciate it.

Because Nice Deb remembers well how throughout the years of 2008 and 2009, the President’s likeness was used on a whole array of commercial products – to the point where it was frankly creepy and obscene, and I don’t remember the President saying boo about it.

Remember Obama perfume, for instance?

I remember it well because I started a category, Obama Cult Products, back in 2008, and I tracked each and every bizarre and disturbing new item that would appear on the market. I found the cult of personality nature of these products unseemly and kept wondering   when  the candidate and then the President would finally say, “enough!”

Especially in the cases where his likeness was actually used on American flags, and waved in honor of his inauguration.

In September of 2009, I finally exclaimed, Why Doesn’t The President Put A Stop To This?

Here’s what I wrote at the time:

The United States Flag Code provision 176 (g): “The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

At some point, wouldn’t you expect the President of the United States step up and say that this gross breech of flag etiquette in his honor should stop? He may not be able to stop entrepreneurs from making a buck off of his image, but he can certainly discourage the practice. He loves to give speeches, doesn’t he? And hasn’t he been dubbed the “Omnipresent President” because of his tendency to involve himself  in every day minutia? How hard would it be for Obama to get one of his media toadies to ask him about this, so he can take the opportunity to express his distaste for these flag desecrations?

Jill Sprik at The American Thinker listed this as one of the Top 20 Things Obama Doesn’t Say:

7. Stop already with all forms of ‘cult of personality’ behavior.  I am a public servant, just like all those who have served before and all who will come after my term is complete.  It’s not about me, it’s about the country.

Perhaps he could surprise us all, and say something like that?

To the best of my recollection – it never happened. So I’m calling BS on Eric Schultz, who – after all – hasn’t been with the White House all that long. He was hired in May of this year to do damage control handle press matters related to the U.S. Department of Justice and investigations held by the House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA).

He’s the charmer who “screamed and cussed” at Sharyl Attkisson for “not being reasonable” in her reportage, unlike most of the lapdog media.

Too bad there’s no “longstanding policy of disapproval” in the Obama White House for bullying, trollish media flacks.

Herman Cain Receiving Secret Service Protection Effective Today – The Only Republican Candidate Under Protection, Thus Far (Updated)

At the request of the Cain campaign:

“We are protecting Herman Cain,” Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said Thursday night. He said the decision was made by Homeland Security “Secretary Napolitano, at the request of the Cain campaign and in consultation with the Congressional advisory committee.”

“The authority was given to the Service to protect Herman Cain [beginning] today,” Donovan said.

Asked about the decision to protect Cain about a year before the general election, Donovan said: “Historically, it’s not that unusual.” The Secret Service spokesman noted protection was granted to Jesse Jackson at a similar point during his two campaigns, to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) in October 1979 and to a variety of candidates at a similar point in the 1976 cycle.

Donovan declined to say whether any threats prompted the decision to protect Cain, who at this point is the only candidate under protection other than President Barack Obama. “We don’t discuss the deliberations on which an assessment is made,” the spokesman said.

I think there’s a strong implication, here, that credible threats have been made.
UPDATE:
Yep.

Death threats against Cain, who had been experiencing a bounce in the polls, triggered the request, according to an official with knowledge of the situation who asked not to be identified because of the sensitive nature of the situation.

Cain’s campaign had no immediate comment.

A new Cain web-ad via TheHermanCain on Youtube:
MORE:
Cain was in Concord, New Hampshire, today, where sat down with News 9, and “showed some vulnerability. “
Cain said he is focused on the economy and his plan to fix it.”Uncertainty is what’s killing this economy from the national level all the way down to the local level,” he said. “Jobs, jobs, jobs — and that’s what we’re going to be talking about today.“In a conversation with News 9, Cain showed some vulnerability, choking up when he started talking about his faith, his wife and her role during a possible inauguration.”I almost can’t say it,” he said. “Holding the Bible when I’m sworn in. It’s emotional.”Cain later said the rigors and scrutiny of the campaign has been tough on those around him.”If I ever reached a point where this campaign became damaging to my family, my wife and my family, I’m not a quitter, but there is a point beyond which you will not go,” he said.At a rally in Nashua, Cain responded to criticism that he lacks foreign policy experience.

I saw Cain choke up the same way during his speech at Smart Girl Summit in St. Louis, last summer. He was speaking about a 14 year old girl he had met at one of his campaign stops who had led a very tough life, and ran away form home with her little brother because he was being abused – they lived on the streets before being adopted.

I don’t see these moments as signs of weakness – but of moral strength. When a man his age is still able to choke up like that – it just means he has a big heart. This is one of the reasons I love Herman Cain.

Video: Obama Insults America 3 Months In A Row

Another great video by Granny Jan:

Ed Lasky of The American Thinker: The Abuser In Chief:

Calling America “lazy” last weekend was only the latest and broadest insult from President Obama. America has become accustomed to Obama’s lashing out at entire groups of people.  What has been all too little appreciated is his seeming delight in bullying, if not demeaning, individuals face-to-face.  He is protected from angry responses not just by the Secret Service, but by the reverence his victims have for the office he holds

Victor Davis Hanson has a collection of groups that Obama has demonized in Obama’s Target List; Randall Hoven also has done so in his Insulter-in-Chief column for American Thinker.

Perhaps some of this can be chalked up to partisan campaigning.  Obama is always in campaign mode — his favorite activity other than golfing; basketball; luxuriating away at estates in Martha’s Vineyard, Hawaii, and points around the world; and basking in the glow of worshipful supporters.

However, what does it say about Barack Obama the man when he “goes granular” and focuses his ire on individuals? Why bully a particular person or small group of people in front of others and in front of the nation?  Why use the power of the presidency to insult and humiliate?

Read the entire litany of offenses at The American Thinker. None of it has gone unnoticed, here.

From VDH – Obama’s Insult List:

African Americans: “Take off your bedroom slippers. Put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. Stop complainin’. Stop grumblin’. Stop cryin’.”

Americans: Are “not a model for the world” and have a “tragic history.” Also, “we’re hardwired not to always think clearly when we’re scared,” and, more recently, we have gotten “a little soft” and lost our “competitive edge.”

Bankers: “Fat cats”

Border enforcement: Its overzealous adherents want “alligators and moats” on the border and would arrest children on their way to get ice cream.

The Cambridge, Mass., police: “Acted stupidly” and, like law-enforcement officers in general, racially profile

Corporate-jet owners: “Are you willing to compromise your kids’ safety so some corporate-jet owner can get a tax break?”

Democratic base: Must “shake off this lethargy. People need to buck up . . . if people now want to take their ball and go home, that tells me folks weren’t serious in the first place.”

Doctors:Needlessly chop off the limbs of diabetics and take out tonsils to increase their own profits

Donald Trump: A “carnival barker”

Grandmother: “Typical white person”

Las Vegas: Where you are likely to “blow a bunch of cash when you’re trying to save for college”

Millionaires: They don’t pay their “fair share” and are synonymous with those who have 1,000 times more.

Nancy Reagan: Don’t “get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any séances.”

Rural Pennsylvanians: “They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment.”

Smoking Gun? Glen Cook Email Shows ATF and DOJ KNEW That Fast and Furious had Walked over 2000 Guns To Mexico – Killing Hundreds Just Two Days After Brian Terry’s Murder

Believe it or not, there’s more going on out there than the #OWS freakshow. The emergence of this email should be a much bigger story.

In it,   *Glen Cook, an ATF Supervisor, advised the Phoenix division to “hire a media consultant” to deal with the media fallout only two days after the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

SSI exclusive: They knew. Everybody knew. This one email proves it.

NOTE: The original of this story ascribed the email below to Glenn Cook. Glenn Cook (Note two “n’s”) is the Deputy Chief of the Special Prosecutions unit of the Criminal Division, Department of Justice, Southern District of Texas in Houston.

The email was represented to me and other journalists as having been written by Glenn Cook. However, there is a Glen Cook (one “n”) who is an ATF supervisor in El Paso. I am checking out which Cook wrote the below email, and will post a correction if necessary as soon as I find out.

*I’m going to say it was the Glen Cook (one “n”) in El Paso, as the in his letter, he spells his name with one “n”. A PDF of the letter, here. It makes no nevermind. These scoundrels in the ATF and DOJ knew from the very beginning what their insane gunwalking operation had wrought, and they were already starting the damage control.

“They should probably hire a media expert anyway to assist them in explaining the 2000 firearms and the possible connection in the murder of the Border Patrol Agent.” — Glen Cook, 17 December 2010.

This story is based on a William LaJuenesse piece on FOX this afternoon which mentioned, but did not completely put into context, an email written two days after the murder of Brian Terry by Glen Cook. Once I found out of the email’s existence, I checked my sources until I located one. I will say that I did not get it from anyone at FOX.

I posted the video from the Fox news report, here.As Vanderboegh notes, it doesn’t mention that particular email specifically.

Bottom line:

“(I)f the AUSA in Phoenix refuses to comply then maybe Phoenix should start preparing their explanations for the way that they conducted their straw purchase cases there. They should probably hire a media expert anyway to assist them in explaining the 2000 firearms and the possible connection in the murder of the Border Patrol Agent.”

And Cook writes this off-handed threat to Phoenix only two days after the murder of Brian Terry! How does he know the number of weapons? How does he know that this stems from the way Phoenix “conducted their straw purchase cases”?

What, then, are we to conclude from this? Well, I’ll tell you.

They knew.

EVERYBODY in ATF and DOJ along the border knew, and they knew it before the murder of Brian Terry, for it obviously is no surprise to the highly-placed AUSA Cook, and he doesn’t mind using this common knowledge to achieve the desired result from Phoenix.

One more thing.

Sources tell me that in any dispute between DOJ AUSAs, there is a “deconfliction process” that is “written in stone.” “All such disputes automatically get kicked upstairs,” said one source, and “certainly would be known immediately to the head of the Criminal Division.” Meaning, of course, Lanny Breuer. “Also, Holder would have been briefed about it,” said the source.

One more thing to ask Breuer and Eric Holder about in the 8 December hearing.

Why The Occupiers Chose #N17 For Their Wall Street Showdown

From the Occupy Wall Street website, posted yesterday:

#N17 Global Day Of Action!

Posted 21 hours ago on Nov. 16, 2011, 4:40 p.m. EST by OccupyWallSt

Sixty days into the struggle #OccupyWallStreet was violently evicted by the NYPD, who leveled our homes at Liberty Square to the ground. Our movement, however, is stronger than it has ever been. In these sixty days we have brought about a massive awakening, perhaps the largest one in the country since the Civil Rights Movement fifty years ago, and certainly the first global one in modern history. People around the world, from Spain to Australia, from Chile to the U.S. have opened their eyes together to the decadence and injustice of the common system that exploits us. This is what we mean when we say with the deepest significance: you cannot stop an idea whose time has come.

The occupation that began on the 17th of September in Zuccotti Park has proven that we still have a chance, as human beings, to unite and reform these corrupt structures, to cleanse our Government and restore our dignity. We will allow no rest and tranquility in our world until we finally achieve what we are dreaming of in our hearts. We will not stop until justice is restored, until democracy is recovered from behind the veil of political discourse, until the 99% are once again made rightful sovereign of their future, until the shadow of Wall Street is stripped of its darkness and its power. We will not stop moving forward until bankers and governments are held accountable for their crimes, until they respect every basic human right they trample on.

We will no longer tolerate the oppression of the 1% who do not want to see a creative movement, based on inclusiveness and tolerance, triumph over a system deeply rooted in social inequality. This is why we’re fighting back tomorrow during #N17. We will shut down Wall Street and we will #occupy all of New York City with our bodies, voices and ideas.

Via Gateway Pundit, a posting on the website pointed out why N17 was chosen as the name for today’s actions, in case you needed more proof that we’re dealing with a bunch of radical Marxists, here:

N17 was a Greek terrorist organization that loathed America, and the West. It engaged in various terrorist attacks including the shooting of the Athens CIA station chief in 1975. They have taken credit for twenty-one murders, including the killings of a U.S. Navy captain, a U.S. defense attaché, a Turkish diplomat, and a British defense attaché.

Via The Council on Foreign Relations: November 17, Revolutionary People’s Struggle, Revolutionary Struggle:

What is November 17?

A radical, leftist Greek terrorist group, also known as 17 N or N 17, with a tiny membership and a loathing for America, the West, and capitalism. Most anti-terrorism experts think the organization has no more than twenty-five members—many of them related to one another, which may explain why the group was able to operate secretly and securely for almost three decades. But in July 2002, amid mounting pressure to track down terrorists before the 2004 Olympics, Greek authorities made a major breakthrough and began arresting November 17 members. In December 2003, Greek courts dealt November 17 a crippling blow as fifteen members of the group were convicted of various crimes including homicide; the leader of the group and several key operatives were given multiple life sentences.

How has the Greek government handled terrorism?

After almost three decades of scant success at combating leftist terrorists, Greek authorities finally made headway against November 17 in the summer of 2002. A failed June 2002 bombing in the port of Pireaus led Greek police to their first arrest of a November 17 member, and they captured four more members in July, including two brothers of the Pireaus bomber and a man charged with being the group’s leader. Police also raided November 17’s Athenshide-outs and weapons storehouses, seized weapons caches, and uncovered troves of documents.

Experts say much of the impetus for the 2002 breakthrough came from concerns that Greece’s terrorism problem could mar the 2004 Olympics. Earlier Greek efforts were much less effective, leading some terrorism experts to suspect links or sympathies between Greece’s ruling socialist elite and the tiny terror groups. After the June 2000 murder of British Defense Attaché Stephen Saunders by November 17, Greece strengthened its police counterterrorism unit, offered multimillion-dollar rewards for leads on terrorist groups, and passed legislation for more vigorous counterterrorism efforts. Leading Greek politicians, including the prime minister, denounced Saunders’ murder and terrorism in general. The public widely observed a national moment of silence for victims of terrorism, and Greek Orthodox Archbishop Christodoulos held an unprecedented memorial service for victims of terrorism inGreece. By the end of 2000, Greece had signed all twelve of the U.N. counterterrorism conventions and ratified ten of them. It also sought closer British and American cooperation on counterterrorism.

What sort of attacks has November 17 launched?

The organization’s first known attack came in December 1975, when the CIA’s Athens station chief was shot with a .45-caliber pistol, November 17’s favorite weapon. Since then, the group has claimed responsibility for twenty-one murders, including the killings of a U.S. Navy captain, a U.S. defense attaché, a Turkish diplomat, and a British defense attaché. November 17’s initial attacks were directed at senior U.S. officials and Greek public figures, but during the 1980s the group expanded its operations to include bombings of ordinary citizens and property. Its targets have also included foreign business and European Union facilities. Since the 2002 arrest, November 17 appears to be inactive.  However, some say that a new group, Revolutionary Struggle, was created by those members of November 17 who were not detained.

Where did November 17 get its name?

From the November 17, 1973, student uprising at Athens Polytechnic University. Twenty students were killed when Greek army tanks suppressed the protests, and the group formed in part to retaliate against the ruling military junta.

What are November 17’s goals?

The group, which espouses communism, has continued its anti-Western stance after the Cold War. November 17 bitterly opposes Greek participation in NATO. It also favors ousting U.S. military bases from Greek territory, severing Greece ’s ties with the European Union, removing the Turkish military presence from Cyprus , and launching an anti-capitalist popular uprising against the Greek middle and upper-classes. In December 2000, after killing a British general, the group released a communiqué defending itself against mounting public criticism by trying to appeal to populist, pro-Serb sentiments and urging Greeks to defy the government’s counterterrorism efforts.

Also, just by coincidence, on this day in 1917, Lenin defended the “temporary” removal of freedom of the press.

#OWS Protesters Plan Direct Actions Thursday To “Take Down Wall Street, Subways, Foley Park, and Times Square”; Unions Plan To Shut Down US Bridges (UPDATED- Will Storm Wall Street in Business Suits)

#Occupy activists on Wall Street are going ahead with the much proclaimed International Day of Action threatening to take down Wall Street, subways, Foley Park, and Times Square. The official OWS site encourages other OWS encampments and groups to take similar action. A breakfast on Wall Street, and a luncheon on various key subway platforms. Sounds lovely. BTW, it’s another peaceful event touted as a celebration. The whole world’s watching.

On Thursday November 17th, the two month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement, we call upon the 99% to participate in a national day of direct action and celebration!
BREAKFAST: Shut Down Wall Street – 7:00 a.m.

Enough of this economy that exploits and divides us. It’s time we put an end to Wall Street’s reign of terror and begin building an economy that works for all. We will gather in Liberty Square at 7:00 a.m., before the ring of the Trading Floor Bell, to prepare to confront Wall Street with the stories of people on the frontlines of economic injustice. There, before the Stock Exchange, we will exchange stories rather than stocks.
LUNCH: Occupy The Subways – 3:00 p.m.

We will start by Occupying Our Blocks! Then throughout the five boroughs, we will gather at 16 central subway hubs and take our own stories to the trains, using the “People’s Mic”.

John E at AoSHQ watched the #occupy “general assembly, last night, and said it was every bit as creepy and bizarre as you’d expect.

The tone on their websites is much more up-twinkly benign occupation talk, but there were multiple calls to “shut down” this or that and to “confront the fascist police forces” in the streets during the assembly (check out the #N17 hash for more). That message appears to be resonating. Like he says, they want to “burn the city to the ground”. When Occupy Wall Street started many on the right were warning Democrats to avoid encouraging or embracing it, not because it was going to end up being a political liability to them, but because it had the potential to spiral out of control. Democrat mayors and politicians are attempting to dial it back, but it may be too late. Within 24 hours, I think we’ll have our answer.

Meanwhile Obama’s union shock troops  are planning a pro-Obama “Bridge Action Day” – Will Shut Down Bridges & Harass US Workers on Thursday.

Hot Air: OWS Day of Action: Storm Wall Street disguised in … business suits:

So this has been the marketing strategy for Mens Wearhouse all along, huh?

The “day of action” is to begin early, with protesters converging on Wall Street camouflaged in business suits hoping to blend in with office workers trooping out of the subway.

“We will rise from beneath. They can’t stop all of us. It’s going to get crazy,” vowed one organizer. “They took the first shot Tuesday night. [Thursday] we return fire. We will be peaceful, but we will resist.”

The city said it was bracing for tens of thousands of people in the streets.

“The protesters are calling for a massive event aimed at disrupting major parts of the city,” said Howard Wolfson, deputy mayor for governmental affairs. “We will be prepared for that.”

WABC’s live video feed shows police cordoning off the Wall Street area and providing only limited access today, a task for which they are well rehearsed — and thanks to the loose lips in the Occupy movement, well prepared.

Chances are good that this will be another Occu-FAIL.

Audio: Newt Explains His Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Consultancy on Laura Ingraham Show: “As a former Speaker, I’m a private citizen, and I am allowed to offer strategic advice”

The big news, this morning, via Bloomberg was the fact that Newt Gingrich had scored mega bucks over the course of eight years in a series of consulting contracts for Freddie Mac, earning him as much as $1.8 million.

Ed Morrissey wrote at Hot Air,  “the fact that Gingrich had such a lengthy consulting relationship with such a toxic organization might be enough to turn off Republican voters”:

The Bloomberg account makes it clear that Gingrich never lobbied for Freddie Mac, but the subject of his consultations remains in dispute. Gingrich has stated that he tried to advise Freddie Mac executives to reform their lending practices and advised them on historical problems with loose lending. According to Bloomberg’s sources, in the first few years he provided written support for their initiatives, which they used to argue for support from Congress in the early years of the bubble.

What about later? Bloomberg’s report contains this curious passage about his 2006 contract, which lasted until 2008, just as the bubble popped:

Former Freddie Mac officials familiar with his work in 2006 say Gingrich was asked to build bridges to Capitol Hill Republicans and develop an argument on behalf of the company’s public-private structure that would resonate with conservatives seeking to dismantle it.

He was expected to provide written material that could be circulated among free-market conservatives in Congress and in outside organizations, said two former company executives familiar with Gingrich’s role at the firm. He didn’t produce a white paper or any other document the firm could use on its behalf, they said.

Newt did some damage control on The Laura Ingraham Show, this morning, making the distinction that it was as the former Speaker that he was involved with the company, unlike Frank and Dodd who are still members of Congress.

Newt Says Gingrich/Cain or Cain/Gingrich Ticket “A Real Possibility”

Newt Gingrich sat down with Newsmax, Tuesday, for an interview in which he stated that a Gingrich/Herman Cain or Cain/Gingrich ticket in 2012 is a “real possibility”.

Asked about a Gingrich-Cain ticket, or a Cain-Gingrich ticket, Gingrich asserted: “I think that’s a real possibility. I think there are other possibilities. There are several very good candidates running for president.” He went on to mention other possible VP candidates including Marco Rubio. He’d say he’d do anything to help defeat Obama.

Other topics covered included the ObamaCare challenge in the Supreme Court, and the super-committee:

The Supreme Court announced Monday that it will hear the challenge to Obama’s healthcare reform bill. Gingrich was asked whether Justice Elena Kagan, who was solicitor general under President Obama, should recuse herself.

“Absolutely,” Gingrich declares. “It is unconscionable that a person who actually advised in the writing of Obamacare will now sit in judgment on what they help write.

“I think clearly Kagan should recuse herself. It’s clearly a conflict of interest, and I think a very bad judicial setting for her to now be rendering judgment on the bill she helped write.”

As to how the high court will rule in the case, Gingrich says: “You never quite know, but my hunch is that they are going to decide that it is unconstitutional to have a mandate” to buy health insurance.

Gingrich also discussed another hot topic: the supercommittee charged with cutting the federal budget deficit.“I think the supercommittee is a very bad idea. You take 535 House and Senate members, you shrink them down to 12. The 12 are handpicked by the political leadership of the two parties so they’re guaranteed to be partisan. You then have too few meetings, no public meetings that matter, you come up with some gigantic bill that you try to ram through using fear tactics. I think it’s a terrible way to govern.“My advice to the supercommittee is: First, reform the Congressional Budget Office, whose bureaucratic models kill innovation and growth. Second, look at really big solutions to modernize the federal bureaucracy.

“Third, look for more revenue, not higher taxes. If you open up more oil and gas exploration, you get more federal revenue. If you open up the land we own in Alaska and Nevada, you get more federal revenue. If you get people back to work, you get reduced costs because they’re not getting food stamps, unemployment, public housing, Medicaid. On the other hand, they are paying taxes.

“There are things they could do that would enable us to have a positive outcome. I don’t see any sign that they’re moving in that direction. I see every sign that it’s kind of a standard partisan bickering, and frankly not a very creative project that’s under way.”

Read the whole thing, and watch the video at Newsmax.com: Newt: Gingrich/Cain Ticket ‘A Real Possibility’ .
The Newt surge continues in a McClatchy-Marist Poll released Tuesday shows Gingrich scores best vs. Obama among voters today.

The former speaker of the House of Representatives is neck and neck with the incumbent president, back just 2 percentage points among registered voters. Obama leads 47 percent to 45 percent.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is next closest, trailing Obama by 4 percentage points. In that matchup, Obama leads 48 percent to 44 percent.

Rep. Ron Paul of Texas is the third best bet for the Republicans right now, 8 points back from Obama. No other Republican is within single digits of Obama. The survey has an error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

The poll, coming as Gingrich has surged within the Republican field, could boost Gingrich’s argument that he would be the party’s best voice to debate Obama in the general election.

“He runs better,” said Lee Miringoff, director of Marist College Institute for Public Opinion in New York, which conducted the national survey. “It’s a closer race with him than with Romney or the others.”

I could live with a Newt candidacy. I’m not leaving any possibilities out, with exception of Ron Paul, who Yid With Lid tells me, really is an anti-Semite.
Like RS McCain, I like Rick Santorum and wish he were doing better in the polls, as I stated not too long ago, here.
For the primaries – anyone but Mitt (and Paul). For the election anyone but Obama. So yeah,  I’d vote for even Mitt or Paul if it came down to that.
UPDATE:
For those of you who have been wondering about this:
-
I once thought the Newt/Cain ticket couldn’t happen since both are from GA, but Newt is registered in VA now, I think

GOP Press Conference: Rep. West Calls On Holder To Resign – Hints Obama May Be Complicit (Video) + The Latest Fast and Furious News

Allen West spoke  at a GOP press conference with several other members who expressed their lack of confidence in AG Eric Holder. After rattling off a list of offenses including the Black Panther Voter intimidation case, and the death of Border Patrol Agent, Brian Terry, West called for Holder to step down.He said it was “reprehensible” for  Holder to leak to the press his long-overdue apology letter to Terry’’s family before his mother had read it. He closed by saying, if Obama doesn’t agree with that stance, then “perhaps the President of the United States is also complicit in this this horrible, tragic event – Operation Fast and Furious”:

The Daily Caller reported on other statements by Republican Congressmen at  the Press Conference:

Tennesssee Republican Rep. Diane Black added that it is “deeply, deeply troubling to me that the Attorney General of the United States seems to be, at best, blasé about the death of a Border Patrol agent whose murder is linked to Operation Fast and Furious.”

“The American people deserve answers about this, but first and foremost, the family of this young Border Patrol agent deserves answers,” Black said. She is among the 42 members of the House calling for Holder to step down.

“I found [Holder's] testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary [Committee] a week or two ago almost insulting,” added Illinois Republican Rep. Joe Walsh.

“The attitude that he took toward the young man who was killed … was troubling,” Walsh said. “And, then, there’s this undercurrent of his call — his advocacy — for more gun control, a problem of our guns going south of the border when our own government, led by him, was complicit in that. He needs to be held accountable.”

Congressman Issa,  Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform stopped short of calling for Holder to step down, but demanded answers, this morning on Fox, where he discussed Attorney General Eric Holder’s refusal to answer questions from Congressional lawmakers about Operation Fast and Furious on Fox News.

Ace: Holder Ignored Congressional Demands For Information About 2007-2008 “Wide Receiver” Program — And Then Leaked It To Reporters The Day Before Key Testimony In Fast & Furious, In Order To Claim “Bush Did It First”

Holder ignored Grassley’s request for additional information about Wide Receiver. You know, that constitutional power he has to ignore requests for information from Congress.

But then, on the eve of key Fast and Furious figure Lanny Breuer’s testimony*, he decided the Timing Was Now Right, and that his friends in the press could do more with the story in his defense than Grassley would be likely to, so he leaked it to them.

Attorney General Eric Holder’s Justice Department sought to manipulate reporters’ coverage of Operation Fast and Furious during the days preceding a November 1 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, new emails obtained by The Daily Caller indicate.

Emails between senior Justice Department officials and investigators in the office of Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley show that congressional staffers leading the investigation into Operation Fast and Furious requested information about Operation Wide Receiver — a Bush administration program – and other similar cases, more than a full month before the DOJ leaked information to selected media outlets on October 31.

That Halloween document dump from the DOJ seemed calculated to depict Grassley’s investigation as partisan in nature.

The emails show Grassley staffers inquiring about the Bush administration program as early as mid-September

The case against the alleged killers of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry has disappeared from federal court records, apparently sealed by a federal judge. In May, federal prosecutors won an indictment against Manuel Osorio-Arellanes and others, and they announced it with a press release. Only Osorio-Arellanes’ name was visible in the indictment, but there were blacked-out words where other defendants’ names go.

Osorio-Arellanes was charged with second-degree murder and was not considered the likely shooter. He had been wounded during the gunfight that left Terry dead.

The case has disappeared from court records — which I guess means a judge sealed he records.

A spokesman for the US attorney’s office handling the case (in San Diego) refuses comment.
