Timed to respond to Obama’s attempt to shore up the stupid woman vote by invoking the phony ” GOP war on women” theme, yesterday in Colorado, this new ad dings Obama for his actual war on religion.
Via Hot Air:
Today they have a new ad, “Be Not Afraid,” which accuses Obama of conducting a war on religion by forcing companies to fully fund and facilitate access to contraception — even faith-based organizations like religious schools, charities, and hospitals. The ad makes a play for Catholic voters with references to Pope John Paul II and Lech Walesa, leveraging Romney’s recent successful visit to Poland:
The HHS Mandate is a direct attack on religious freedom and an assault on all people of faith, is the message conveyed in this powerful ad by Catholic Vote:
On August 1, 2012, Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, shared with his staff a memo during the morning briefing.
Will this era become a time of martyrdom for the Church, or will goodness triumph over evil?
We won’t know until November.
UPDATE:
Via LifeNews:
The ad is already drawing praise from pro-life circles — including Thomas Peters of Catholic Vote.
“President Obama spent yesterday in Colorado, being introduced by pro-abortion activist (and Planned Parenthood’s favorite person) Sandra Fluke. During his campaign stop, the President made clear (once again) that he won’t back down on the HHS mandate,” he said. “Furthermore, the President falsely claimed that he has reached a compromise with Catholics and other faith leaders – revealing just how disingenuous his negotiations have become at this point.”

Obama DID reach a compromise with Catholic organizations – if you accept his definition of compromise being that he gets what he wants and any crumbs that happen to fall to his opponents are what they get.
Problem is, no crumbs fell to his opponents in this case, it was simply an executive attack on organized religion, plain and simple.

Romney’s new attack ad prominently pictures the late Pope John Paul II, saying “Be not Afraid”. Mitt’ is obviously -and crassly- trying to garner some ” posthumous” political endorsements. But not being a Christian, Mitt probably doesn’t realize that the Pope was quoting Jesus Christ -who ALSO said: “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God”. Mitt, since you’re our proud poster-boy for vulture-”I’m-not-concerned-about-the-very-poor”-Capitalism – I’d be VERY afraid…for your soul. Or what’s left of it.

Apparently this is a new line of attack from the bible illiterate left, as a variation of this utterly moronic theme keeps ending up in my spambox.
The terms “Be not afraid”, “Fear not”, and “have no fear” are repeated dozens of times throughout the old and new testaments as I’m sure Mitt Romney (and most literate people know.) It’s a major theme in the bible – God clearly does not want his people to be afraid. Pope John Paul II was echoing God when he said those words.. Mitt was echoing the Pope who was echoing God. There was nothing wrong with what he said, but attacking Mitt on religious grounds certainly shows ignorant religious bigotry on your part.
As for this:
“it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God”
I love it when the irreligious left all of a sudden become bible literalists. So much low hanging fruit there, I don’t even know where to begin.
But since you’re such a bible thumper, I’d definitely be more afraid for the soul of the candidate whose support for gay marriage, pro abortion policies, and ruthless drone kill lists, is considered nothing less than an abomination.
And oh yeah. The Obamas aren’t exactly poor, themselves.

That old distortion. Are there any serious liberals out there?
