During his press conference, this morning, the President lamely invoked the Connecticut school massacre in order to shame Republicans into surrendering on tax hikes:
“After what we’ve gone through over the past several months, a devastating hurricane and now one of the worse tragedies in our memory, the country deserves the folks to be willing to compromise for the greater good.”

Charles Krauthammer, a licensed psychiatrist, has never been one to give Obama a pass on the disgraceful, divisive, and narcissistic behavior he constantly displays as President of the United States.
“I think the president invoking the massacre of children to essentially say the Republicans need to accept his terms of surrender in the negotiations is not just a non sequitur, I think it’s a sacrilege,” he intoned on Special Report, Wednesday night.
“And it’s of a piece with the whole tone of his news conference and this is the way he conducts them generally – which is he is excessively self righteous, he talks about the other side as being unprincipled, not interested in the national interest, slaves of ideology (which he says makes no sense), and like you said, invested in opposing him to the point that they will let the country suffer. So it’s a combination of self righteousness and narcissism…it’s just a very unpleasant tone and there’s no reason he can’t avoid that or give some credit to the other side for sincerity in just seeing a a different way to approach the crisis the country has. I think that would be respectful but it’s a lot to ask of Obama and he never delivers on it.”

He went on to explain what’s behind Boehner’s actions on the fiscal cliff negotiations: Plan B is ‘Not a Deal,’ It’s ‘a Parachute’
“So Boehner has nothing on spending. I think this is not a deal he’s working out with the Plan B, it’s a parachute. It’s the one thing he can pass in which Republicans escape the blame for the cliff. I wouldn’t have started with conceding on rates, but once Republicans have conceded on rates, do it exactly where Boehner is suggesting. Pass it, and get out of town.”
In case you missed it, here’s Boehner’s one minute press conference from Wednesday morning where he laid down his marker:
The President will have a decision to make”, he said, after explaining his plans to pass Plan B in the House. “He can call on Senate Democrats to pass that bill, or HE can be responsible for the largest tax increase in American history.”
So now the ball’s in Obama’s court, and even his invocations of dead children will not allay his culpability if we go over the cliff.
