Insulting: Marines Forced to Dismantle their Empty Parade Rifles for Obama’s Second Inauguration Parade

Making the rounds on several conservative blogs, this weekend is the revelation that Obama, the Commander in Chief,  forced the United States Marines to dismantle their already empty parade rifles for his second inauguration parade.

As Bob Owens so aptly put it, this is  a slap in the face of the Corps:

“Didn’t know the Marines had to take the bolts out of their rifles for the Inaugural,” an email forwarded to Gun Rights Examiner from a United States Marine Corps source observed. “Wonder if someone can explain why [they] would be marching in the inaugural parade with no bolts in their rifles!”

The email linked to a YouTube video of the 57th Presidential Inaugural Parade, embedded in this column, featuring Bravo Company Marines from the Marine Barracks Washington. Sure enough, the observation in the email is confirmed by watching the video, with screen shots provided in the photo and slide show accompanying this article.

This prompted an internet search to see if others had also noticed, and the Blur-Brain blog had.

“The bolts have been removed from the rifles rendering them unable to fire a round,” the post stated. “Apparently Obama’s Secret Service doesn’t trust the USMC. Simply searching each guy to make sure he didn’t have a live round hidden on him wasn’t enough, they had to make sure the guns were inoperable

Of all the branches of the military, the Marines could be the most anti-Obama, as this Marine Times report from March 2012 suggested:

It should be remembered that in 2009, the Dept of Homeland Security issued a report that included a warning that returning military veterans could become dangerous “right wing extremists.”

As Gateway Pundit reminds us, in March 2012, Marines were told to leave their weapons outside the tent during Leon Panetta’s speech in Afghanistan.

This video from 5/2009 provides a good compare/contrast of the Marines reacting to Bush vs Obama, indicating  where most Marines stand on their current Commander in Chief.

We are definitely living in a different era.

UPDATE:

Some commenters at various sites (including mine) are claiming that the removal of bolts from their rifles is standard operating procedure for these types of events with the POTUS – (with the exception of GW, I think.) If true, I’m sure there are photos of Marines with dismantled rifles at events with past presidents that will appear to prove it.

Your Sunday Hymn: My Song Is Love Unknown

The season of penance and prayer is upon us. Lent begins this Ash Wednesday, and to get you in the mood, I’ve chosen one of the most sublime of Lenten hymns, My Song is Love Unknown written by Samuel Crossman in 1664, the tune attributed to John Ireland (b. 13 August 1879 – d. 12 June 1962) .  It is said that Ireland composed the melody to Crossman’s words one day over lunch at a fellow composer’s suggestion. Judge Jeanine Pirro: “This Administration Uses Drones to Kill American Citizens, but Not to Save Them”

On Saturday’s Justice with Jeanine, Pirro focused on the question of who was in charge the night of the attack on the consulate in Benghazi.

She played a clip from last week’s hearing with Leon Panetta.

“Would it be safe to say you were in charge?” Senator Graham asked Panetta.

“The people in charge were the people on the ground,” he answered…

“It was the people on the ground who asked for help because they couldn’t protect themselves, Pirro noted frustratedly.

She also pointed out the irony of the Regime’s drone policy. “… you find a foreign terrorist, bring him to NYC and give an American jury a chance to hear the evidence and decide the case. But an American citizen on the President’s kill list DIES! Amazing!” she exclaimed.

“This administration uses drones to kill American citizens, but not to save them.”

How can this be? Is it possible that key members of this Regime are closer to the Muslim Brotherhood in their worldview than say – the Boy Scouts?

She had on Pat Smith, the mother of fallen hero, Sean Smith, to react to Panetta’s testimony.

After five months of stonewalling, the administration still hasn’t been able to provide any information to make the families of the victims feel better.

Pirro asked Mrs Smith if she had heard from the administration since the election. The regime had apparently sent her some forms to fill out after her appearance on Pirro’s show, last year.

Smith answered flatly, “no.”

“The election is over, Jeanine”,  Obama would say.
