Video: Chuckie Schumer Pushes Universal Gun Registration After Promising Background Checks Won’t Create Gun Registry

Via Weasel Zippers, a new video by the NRA  exposing Senator Chuck Schumer’s disturbing duplicity on gun registration:

On January 30, 2013, Sen. Chuck Schumer promised that universal background checks wouldn’t create a gun registry. Yet just 13 days later, as Schumer was discussing gun control proposals, he stated, “the one which I’ve been pushing, which is universal registration.” It couldn’t be any clearer — when a politician says “universal background checks,” what they actually mean is “universal registration.”

Floundering Obamacrats are having a hard time keeping their lies straight, these days, it seems.

Meanwhile, via Big Government, the NRA is kicking a$$ and taking names – (literally):  Exclusive: Obama Fails to Register ‘OrganizingForAction.net’; Site Points to NRA Home Page:

At the beginning of the year, President Barack Obama’s new 501(c)4 political nonprofit, Organizing For Action, was launched with all the usual bells and whistles. But the tech wizards at OFA forgot one important rule in today’s Internet world: Register all the iterations of your website address before someone else does.

Now Obama’s team is filing complaints against the folks smart enough to get the addresses before he did.

As Obama’s OFA made its debut, no one in his purportedly Internet-savvy campaign had obtained the corresponding .com, .net, .org or .us sites, nor did OFA register other names that are close to its official one, as is the sensible practice. In the case of the .net address, a fellow named Derek Bovard had already registered the .net address by the time Obama’s team took notice.

Bovard has routed his new site to the homepage of the National Rifle Association.

So, whenever anyone goes to www.organizingforaction.net they end up seeing the homepage of the NRA.

Naturally, Obama and his fellow community organizers were furious. So furious, in fact, that they have replied by filing complaints against Bovard–and, apparently, a variety of other people who had registered domain names that OFA now wants.

Obama’s Organizing for Action is taking heat from all sides, including the progressive lapdogs at MSNBC :

At least half of the group’s budget will come from a select group of donors who will each contribute or raise $500,000 or more, according to donors and strategists involved in the effort.

Unlike a presidential campaign, Organizing for Action has been set up as a tax-exempt “social welfare group.” That means it is not bound by federal contribution limits, laws that bar White House officials from soliciting contributions, or the stringent reporting requirements for campaigns. In their place, the new group will self-regulate. …

But those contributions will also translate into access, according to donors courted by the president’s aides. Next month, Organizing for Action will hold a “founders summit” at a hotel near the White House, where donors paying $50,000 each will mingle with Mr. Obama’s former campaign manager, Jim Messina, and Mr. Carson, who previously led the White House Office of Public Engagement.

Giving or raising $500,000 or more puts donors on a national advisory board for Mr. Obama’s group and the privilege of attending quarterly meetings with the president, along with other meetings at the White House. Moreover, the new cash demands on Mr. Obama’s top donors and bundlers come as many of them are angling for appointments to administration jobs or ambassadorships.

“It just smells,” said Bob Edgar, the president of Common Cause, which advocates tighter regulation of campaign money. “The president is setting a very bad model setting up this organization.”

Organizing for Action has been mobilizing drones to support Obama’s gun control efforts. On Friday the group sponsored a miniscule NRA protest in Fairfax, VA . This Thursday, they’ll be busing their troops To Albany, NY to support the draconian Gun Laws that have just been enacted, there. A free breakfast and lunch is included in the trip.

  2. “Chuckie Schumer Pushes Universal Gun Registration After Promising Background Checks Won’t Create Gun Registry”. Really? Universal gun registration creates a list of names, addresses, telephone numbers, and other identifying information about gun owners. So, of course good ole Chuckie can push for registration and promise that background check won’t create a registry; that’s what the registration is for. Amazing. All the education floating around and not a single journalist can be found who comprehends simple English sentences.
