The Wall Street Journal’s Steve Moore appeared on Fox News with Martha MacCallum, this morning to talk about the need for Food Stamp reform, arguing that the reforms will promote independence and self-sufficiency.
Toward the end of the interview MacCallum referenced stories that have been reported on of people using the cards for all kinds of nefarious things, and Moore responded by saying, “you know, Martha…under these new qualifications that Barack Obama set up where they got rid of many of the asset tests, you could literally drive up to the Welfare office in a Porsche and get food stamps. I’m sorry, I have a problem with that. You could live in a million dollar mansion and still get food stamps…that’s because the first thing Barack Obama did when we passed that stimulus bill back in 2009 was they got rid of the restrictions on food stamp use, and that’s why it’s going through the roof.”
He also made the point that no families with children would be affected, which is good to know because the left has been in overdrive demagoguing the issue.
