At a time when the the Regime is calling for “an end to austerity” on Domestic spending, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is calling for shrinking the U.S. Army to its smallest size in decades, along with other military cuts.

Fox News reported:

Hagel announced his Pentagon budget priorities Monday afternoon. The Army had already been preparing to shrink to 490,000 active-duty members from a wartime peak of 570,000. Hagel is proposing to cut it further to between 440,000 and 450,000.

That would make it the smallest since just before the U.S. entered World War II.

Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, warned that the cuts would hurt military readiness. And he said the country is only in this position because the Obama administration and Congress will not seriously take on cuts to entitlements.

“It’s all being sacrificed … on the altar of entitlements. This president cannot take on mandatory spending, so all we’ve done in the Congress — and this president — is basically cut discretionary spending,” he told Fox News.

Obama ran (and won) on being a strong foreign policy president, but the truth  is, um – he’s a Democrat. This is what happens when we vote Democrats into office. And Obama, far left  “Democrat” that he is – has been an unmitigated disaster on foreign policy and our standing in the world has collapsed as a result. Remember, how the whole world was supposed to love us  now that the supposedly hated Bush was gone? The dirty little secret is – Bush may have been hated (by our enemies) but he was respected. It is better to have a leader who is hated by respected that one who is loved, but disrespected. Obama, of course, is neither loved or respected.

President Obama hired a Secretary of State who had no relevant experience for the job because he wanted to avoid criticism from her – or even a 2012 challenge – and because he read in a book that Lincoln surrounded himself with rivals.

Via CNS News: Governors to Obama: ‘Don’t Cut the National Guard’:

Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, a Republican, says he and other governors of both parties have a message for President Obama when they meet with him on Monday: “Don’t cut the National Guard.”

“I’m co-chair of the governor’s advisory council to the Pentagon and Homeland Security, and the message from all the governors of both parties is, don’t cut the National Guard,” Branstad told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Monday.

“We know there’s going to be reductions in the Army — there’s been a big buildup in the Army since 9-11, and now the Army is recommending major reductions in the National Guard instead of the regular Army, and we think that’s a big mistake. That’s the message that I’m going to bring to the president if I get an opportunity to ask a question.”

Obama’s dismissive response, according to a WH reporter who just asked Jay Carney about it: “You asked for cuts, now you’re getting them.”

Unbelievable…I’m looking for corroboration on that.

Gov. Nikki Haley talked about proposed National Guard cuts, legalizing marijuana in South Carolina and the future of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie after a governors’ meeting with President Barack Obama on Monday.

On Sunday, Haley sat next to First Lady Michelle Obama at a White House dinner. The next day, she was among four Republican state CEOs speaking at news conference. Here are some highlights of what she said:

• On proposed National Guard cuts: “He basically said, ‘Many people in the room has asked for cuts. Now you’re getting them.’ … You’re now going to punish all these people who want deficit reduction by cutting the National Guard? It’s just not a logical way to do things.”

Haley said the President’s tone changed with all governors when talking about proposed Guard cuts. “It automatically went into an almost aggressive nature by him implying that, ‘Many of you wanted cuts that’s what you said you wanted. Don’t start coming in and now complaining that these cuts are affecting you because you said you wanted it and now you’re going to get it and you have to live with it. And if somebody questions it, I’m going to have to say something about it.’ ”

  2. Having {barely} lived through {and survived} several of these over a the period of a Military career, I can’t even start to explain how dangerous these proposals are. First Hagel is no card carrying member of the Phi Beta Kappa club but that is exactly why he was selected for the position, he was only a Squad Leader during Vietnam. He’s a useful idiot and all anyone needed to know was what happened at his confirmation hearings. His cohort Dempsey is no better.

    At the conclusion of Vietnam the Company grade and junior Field grade Officer corps was gutted by a huge ROPA that sent them packing. Over the same period they reduced the Duties, Responsibilities and Authority of the NCO;s {Non Commissioned Officers}. The Army stumbled through the time period of Jimma Karta. During those years in particular they went through a huge power vacuum that took many more years to rebuild. Fortunately when Reagan came into office the problem was taken very seriously and was addressed.

    Coming next was the collapse of the Soviet Union and their satellites and the Country was introduced to the “Peace Dividend” by President Bush {41}, which made major cuts to the Military as they were experiencing the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Act with put major restrictions on the funding of the Military.

    Despite the major cuts that the Military was going through in Personal and Funding, Clinton came into office and made draconian additional cuts so severe that many of us at the time expressed our concerns. The Active Duty Force was cut to the bone and the National Guard and Reserve were used to “Round Out” the Active Force. The Reserve Components would be used to supplement the Active Force by providing Combat Arms {CA} and Combat Service Support {CSS} forces. For the most part the CA came from the National Guard Forces and the CSS units of the Reserves provided their support for the Active Forces. Upon mobilization or a war all three components were required used to make up the required force requirements as needed.

    The concept on theory worked for a while, but then came 9-11 where the concept needed to be put into affect. It worked, until the “Total Force” units were required to do multiple deployments because the shortage of personnel throughout the three components. This also required members of the Reserve Components to “Train Up” before deployment to hone their skills before being integrated or support any Active Force.

    As I understand this latest debacle the higher ups plan on a expansion of Special Operations. The ONLY way this will be able to be accomplished is by a REDUCTION in qualifications. In short, they will lower the standards that are now required for any Special Forces Training. The will also integrate and expand the role of females and possibly add them to the Special Operations Forces. This is suicidal and dangerous.

    This very well may be the last phase of the destruction of the U.S. Military. I have been setting off alarms for years now that this administration has been waging a war on the Military. They have systematically decapitated the Senior Leadership. Mostly in the Officer Corps but also in the NCO ranks. Uncounted years of Military Leadership has been set packing off on the horizon. Pay and benefits have been slashed to the point where a significant number of personnel are on supplemental benefits {Food Stamps}.

    It’s all being done to supplement and expand the “Welfare State” at the expense of National Security. Without the latter there won’t be anything to supplement. We are at a very dangerous point here. The Country of the President aren’t respected or listened too any longer. Despite numerous lines in the sand and warnings we are openly defied and mocked. The entire Middle East and Northern Africa are in tatters, Iran is on the verge of going nuclear and for sure will go after Israel, al-queda has spread like roaches all over and are a bigger threat than ever before. The taliban will shortly re-establish their foot hold in Afghanistan, Iraq was turned into loss at a huge personal expense of U.S. treasure. The Korean and Asian peninsular is starting to boil with China interfering and meddling. South America is about to explode. Our Allies no longer trust us!

    We have been set up over the last five years for a catastrophic fall. It has been played out right before our eyes, the warnings were all over the place. If allowed to go through as they are planning, we will not survive any confrontation or threat. This BASTARD needs to be impeached and removed from office before it’s too late. Our entire way of life is depending on it. The next election or the one after isn’t going to fix this, it will take decades, if we are able to survive this.
