Obama’s MLK Speech in 2002 Questioned Dr. King’s Philosophy of Nonviolence (Video)

On the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech, the president gave a speech that lauded the civil rights leader’s commitment to nonviolence.

“Many had gone to segregated schools and sat at segregated lunch counters, had lived in towns where they couldn’t vote, in cities where their votes didn’t matter. There were couples in love who couldn’t marry, soldiers who fought for freedom abroad that they found denied to them at home. They had seen loved ones beaten and children fire- hosed. And they had every reason to lash out in anger or resign themselves to a bitter fate.

And yet they chose a different path. In the face of hatred, they prayed for their tormentors. In the face of violence, they stood up and sat in with the moral force of nonviolence. Willingly, they went to jail to protest unjust laws, their cells swelling with the sound of freedom songs. A lifetime of indignities had taught them that no man can take away the dignity and grace that God grants us. They had learned through hard experience what Frederick Douglas once taught: that freedom is not given; it must be won through struggle and discipline, persistence and faith.”

But just eleven years ago, as an Illinois State Senator, Obama had a very different message. In a speech at a church in Chicago on Martin Luther King Day, he openly questioned MLK’s philosophy of nonviolence, which he suggested only made sense in a society in which the powerful had been brought down a peg. He suggested that the powerful’s lack of empathy undermined the notion that those without power should remain nonviolent.

The video was unearthed by Verum Serum’s Morgen Richmond, last year and posted at  Patterico’s on Oct. 3:

The philosophy of nonviolence only makes sense if the powerful can be made to recognize themselves in the powerless. It only makes sense if the powerless can be made to recognize themselves in the powerful. You know, the principle of empathy gives broader meaning, by the way, to Dr. King’s philosophy of nonviolence. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but rich people are all for nonviolence. Why wouldn’t they be? They’ve got what they want. They want to make sure people don’t take their stuff. But the principle of empathy recognizes that there are more subtle forms of violence to which we are answerable. The spirit of empathy condemns not only the use of firehoses and attack dogs to keep people down but also accountants and tax loopholes to keep people down. I’m not saying that what Enron executives did to their employees is the moral equivalent of what Bull Connor did to black folks, but I’ll tell you what, the employees at Enron feel violated. When a company town sees its plant closing because some distant executives made some decision despite the wage concessions, despite the tax breaks, and they see their entire economy collapsing, they feel violence . . .

Chilling, considering the explosion of black on white violence that has taken place since Obama was elected. One violent  St. Louis gang even named themselves after the president.

There are four felony counts of first-degree assault, four felony counts of armed criminal action and two felonies for allegedly firing a gun from a vehicle and hitting people pending against a St. Louis suspect whom police identified as a member of the “Obama Boyz” gang.

Erik Rush, author of “Negrophilia: From slave block to pedestal – America’s racial obsession,” told WND it “shouldn’t be particularly surprising that a subculture of young, angry black men is proliferating under President Obama.”

“While his tone when addressing matters of race and racial tension is usually measured and compassionate, his rhetoric is what I call ‘artfully divisive,’” Rush said. “It legitimizes and reinforces all of the worst beliefs of propagandized blacks, as well as the more militant and radical worldview of those who subscribe to same. His administration has also labored furtively but very effectively to heighten racial tension, I submit in order to precipitate civil unrest and thereby advance its communist agenda.”

In 1980, as a student at Occidental College and member of the Democrat Socialist Alliance, Obama believed a violent Communist revolution was needed in America, and it would take Marxists like him to guide the process along.

Fellow Marxist (now conservative) Dr. John Drew describes him as “a garden variety Marxist-Leninist. He and Boss and his sophomore year roommate, Hasan Chandoo, believed that social forces were creating an inevitable Communist revolution in the U.S. and that it was important to have a highly trained elite of educated leaders guide this revolutionary process and oversee it once the revolution took place.”

Asked by Jamie Glazov of FrontPage Magazine, “what did Obama say that made you think he was a Marxist?” Drew responded:

I only remember bits and fragments of the actual conversation. I remember that Obama reacted negatively to my suggestion that it was wrong to ever expect a Communist revolution in the U.S. given the experience of Western Europe. I definitely remember him taking about the need to prepare ourselves and the people for the coming Communist revolution. I remember that he was particularly good at arguing the perspective of Frantz Fanon’s anti-colonial revolutionary thought. I had read Fanon, but his writing was not authoritative to me the way it seemed to be for Boss and Obama.

FP: Tell us why this is significant today.

Drew: I think it is significant, in part, because it helps demonstrate the impact that Frank Marshall Davis had on young Obama. It was very unusual for such a young student at Occidental College to be such an intense believer in Marxist ideology. It turns out Obama last met with Davis only about four months prior to Obama first meeting with me.

Obama has never demonstrated in word or deed  that he ever converted from Marxist to capitalist.

MLK DAY News Round-Up:

The Conversation: DHS Knew About Racist Employee’s Activities Since 2010:

Irritated Genie released a new audio clip Tuesday in which he claims that his supervisors were aware of his outside activities since December 2010. According to Genie, whose real name is Ayo Kimathi, his employers found out about his beliefs when his real name was outed on a podcast. Kimathi was encouraged to stick it out by someone who said the government wouldn’t act. It seems this person was right as no action was taken against Kimathi until recently when someone he works with went to the media with the story.

At this point is it unreasonable to assume that if the Kimathi’s virulently racist activities were allowed to continue, they were condoned?

The left’s non-stop race baiting is taking a toll.

Via NBC News:

Fifty years ago, Martin Luther King Jr. declared his desire for a more colorblind America in his stirring “I have a dream” speech.

“I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character,” he said in one of his most memorable lines.

But five decades after the March on Washington, just a bare majority of Americans – and fewer than one-in-five African Americans – believe that dream has been realized.

What’s more, the percentage of Americans who think race relations in the country are good has declined considerably since President Barack Obama – the nation’s first black president – took office in 2009.

Red Alert Politics: Nation’s only black Senator not invited to speak at March on Washington:

Noticeably absent from the speaker line-up at the Let Freedom Ring event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington today: the nation’s only black Senator, Tim Scott.

Scott, a Republican Representative appointed by S.C. Governor Nikki Haley earlier this year to fill former Sen. Jim DeMint’s seat in the U.S. Senate after he retired, was not invited to participate in the historic event, a spokesperson for the Senator confirmed to Red Alert Politics in an email.

The American Thinker: Peaceful George… Another Son of Obama:

The police say Jorge approached the white senior and demanded that he leave the park, telling the old guy that, “He shouldn’t be in his park where young black kids are playing.” When the obstinate old coot stood his ground, he promptly got pounded into it by Jorge who reportedly smacked the surly septuagenarian several times in the face knocking him to the ground, according to multiple witnesses. Jorge then allegedly threatened to go get a gun, a witness reported.

Jorge, demonstrating the usual mental acuity of a Son of Obama, hung around following the assault and only jack-rabbited when the police arrived. When he was apprehended he was reportedly well-prepared for further martial engagement. Police confiscated a 9mm Sig Sauer P239, a magazine containing five hollow-point rounds, a set of brass knuckles, and two voter registration cards in his name. It would seem all those draconian gun control laws they have in Connecticut really made an impression on Citizen Jorge, who is a convicted felon pending trial on charges of illegal possession of a firearm in a vehicle and numerous drug violations. Yep, those strict gun laws really work, don’t they?

Colin Flaherty: Black mob pounces on woman: ‘Shut up white [bleep!]‘

The black mob attack happened Sunday as Slepski pulled up to a stop sign in the black part of Pittsburgh.

Channel 11 News in Pittsburgh picks up the story:

Slepski was savagely beaten after the girls threw a bottle at her car on Concord Street and she stopped to confront them.

“I was mad. I knew they were younger. I thought they were in their early 20s. I got out and said, ‘What is your problem?’” Slepski said.

All four African-American girls then called her names before getting physically violent.

“They yelled, ‘Shut up white [expletive].’ The other said, ‘Get that white [expletive],’” Slepski said.

Slepski said she tried to get back into her car but the girls grabbed her by the hair.

“The one punched me in the head and I was on a set of concrete steps and my head hit the concrete so hard,” said Slepski. “Then they all got on top of me and all their hands were in my hair. They kept telling each other to, ‘Kick her in the head. Kick her head in the concrete.’”

Remember those? Those are the ones Eric Holder made a point to mention at the NAACP convention in Orlando, blustering that he might prosecute the acquitted George Zimmerman.

Well here’s an easy case, Eric. It won’t be too hard to prove a violation of 18 USC 249 or 18 USC 245 in this context. No outrageous self-defense defenses here.

But like in all the other similar cases you refuse to prosecute, the victim here wasn’t one of “your people.”

Barack Obama – Call Off Your Dogs

Punch2

It has been said that two things trump everything else in Obama’s mind: redistributing the wealth and empowering labor unions. When he succeeds in  driving us over the fiscal cliff, our first Marxist President’s scheme to turn America into a Socialist paradise will be nearly complete.

In an odd turn of events, though, even as Socialism in America is in ascendance, its shock troops, the unions, are becoming less popular and less powerful. Today in Lansing, MI, as a right to work bill was signed into law,  union thugs, threw a massive temper tantrum reminiscent of what happened nearly two years ago in Wisconsin. “There Will Be Blood:” a Michigan Legislator threatened, and the state’s union goons obliged….

Right-to-Work supporters were assaulted multiple times by the union mob.

Jimmy Hoffa: We’re Going To Have a “Civil War” in Michigan…

The pro-union thugs destroyed the Americans for Prosperity tent while people were inside..

Union thugs assaulted Steven Crowder who was reporting on the scene:

He talked about the assault on Dana Loesch’s show, this afternoon, where he said that he would  have been torn limb from limb if he had fought back.

“When assaulted during mob rule, you just gotta to kind of turtle and let them whale on you..and that’s what happened, today….this wasn’t an isolated incident – the Dark Knight Rises has nothing on this as far as mob rule….I’ve never seen anything like it…”

More ugliness: SICK… Union Thugs Destroy AFP Tent on Michigan Capitol Lawn Then Cut It & Divvy Up the Spoils (Video)

As you may remember, Obama once told the SEIU audience “your agenda’s been my agenda….” and during the first year of his nightmare reign, SEIU union chief Andy Stern was the most common visitor to the Obama White House.

Since Stern stepped down, Obama’s new best friend is Richard Trumka, the head of the AFL-CIO.

Richard Trumka was asked in a meeting “How often do you get to have conversations with the White House?” to which Trumka replied “Conversations or be at the White House?” followed by nervous laughter. Trumka then replied “I’m at the White House a couple times a week…two, three times a week.”

Then Trumka clarified “I have conversations everyday with someone in the White House or in the administration, EVERYDAY.”

It’s no secret that the Communist Party USA openly and actively collaborates with the Democrat National Committee, Obama’s personal campaign (Organizing for America), MoveOn.org, Rock the Vote and the AFL-CIO.

Obama and big labor share the same hard left (Communist) agenda and are joined at the hip.

Joel Pollak of Big Government maintains Obama owes the peaceful right to work demonstrators who were assaulted in Michigan, today, an apology:

Obama traveled to Michigan yesterday to support the unions’ protest against the laws, which would allow most workers to decline union membership. Currently, many workers in Michigan are forced to join unions as a condition of employment. Republicans sought to change the law to make the state more competitive. Right-to-work states typically enjoy faster economic growth, higher job creation and lower unemployment rates.

Fellow Democrat Doug Geiss, a state legislator, had vowed earlier that “there will be blood” if the legislation passed; he failed to apologize, merely stating that he supported “nonviolence” in union protests. No Democrat or union representative, as of this writing, has apologized for the violence that took place today in Lansing.

In the past, conservatives have been held to account for random acts of violence that were entirely unrelated to anything they had said or done. In January 2011, for example, Gov. Sarah Palin was held responsible by media commentators for Jared Loughner’s crazed shooting spree in Arizona, merely because she previously used a political map with targets on it, indicating places where she focused her efforts in the 2010 elections.

In this case, the connection with Obama is direct. He went to Michigan to encourage the unions and oppose the state government; the unions turned out to protest and attacked those who had come to support the right-to-work legislation. In addition to the assault on Crowder, union members tore down a tent that had been pitched by Americans for Prosperity; Breitbart News’ Lee Stranahan captured the union members’ attack as the tent collapsed, with people inside, as union marshals looked on.

Pollak calls on the president to “live up to the commitment to “civility” he promised after Tucson, admonish his union allies, and apologize.”

The leader of the free world was also expected to condemn the Islamist President Morsi’s power grab in Egypyt.

He was expected to admonish James Hoffa when he told a crowd of union supporters to “Let’s Take These Son of a Bitches Out”.

And I’ve been saying for four years that Obama should condemn the use of his image on American flags.

We’re still waiting….

UPDATE II:

Neil Munro, The Daily Caller: White House declines to condemn union violence in Michigan:

White House spokesman Jay Carney declined to condemn the increasing violence and threats by union members in Michigan, merely telling reporters Tuesday that “the president believes in debate that’s civil.”

When asked by a reporter about a claim by Michigan state Democrat that “there will be blood” should Republicans pass a union-choice law in Michigan, Carney professed ignorance and then downplayed the comment.

“I haven’t see those comments, and I’m not sure they mean what someone interprets them to mean,” he said.

Those comparisons some people (me) made of Obama to the Dark Knight character, Bane, are looking pretty prescient, right now…
UPDATE III:
UPDATE IV:
This seems to be the Facebook page of one of the tent attackers from listener   Lorraine. Chris Opalewski, going by his physical appearance and name stitched onto his jacket and present on the back of his helmet, screamed “He’s got a gun!” “I’ll kill a [the?] motherfucker with a gun! I killed 20 motherfuckers with a gun!”
UPDATE V:
You are going to love this….
Believe it or not, there’s now a Memorandum thread with a number of collectivist blogs signing on to “the Breitbart folks faked the violence” meme.
When I saw this video-claiming that a “violent mob” destroyed the tent the Koch brothers had paid for in front of the Michigan Capitol-I knew right away it was likely a false flag.  After all, Stranahan, James O’Keefe’s buddy, first posted it.
Depressingly enough – the drones actually buy this BS.

“Justice For Trayvon”: A Man Clings To Life in Alabama After Savage Beating By Black Mob Armed With Chairs, Pipes and Paint Cans

Matthew Owens lying in the ICU at USA Medical Center. (WKRG)

Are we seeing the beginnings of a race war?

Via Gateway Pundit:

WKRG reported:

Mobile police need your help to catch a mob that beat Matthew Owens so badly that he’s in critical condition.

According to police, Owens fussed at some kids playing basketball in the middle of Delmar Drive about 8:30 Saturday night. They say the kids left and a group of adults returned, armed with everything but the kitchen sink.

Police tell News 5 the suspects used chairs, pipes and paint cans to beat Owens.

***

As the attackers walked away, leaving Owen bleeding on the ground, Parker says one of them said “Now thats justice for Trayvon.” Trayvon Martin is the unarmed teenager police say was shot and killed February 26 by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman in Samford, Florida.

All of the local news broadcasts neglected to mention the racial component to the beating:

CBS 5 described the assailants as “a group of men”.

Local 15 described them simply as “multiple attackers”, but mentioned that “racial comments may have played a role” in the beating.

Fox 10 described the mob as “an unknown number of people”.

Remember how the MSM jumped at the opportunity to characterize Zimmerman as “white”, and then a “white Hispanic”?

At AoSHQ, Ace notes that this is the  third racially-motivated attack in which the attackers explicitly cited “Justice for Trayvon” as a motivation or excuse for the brutal attacks.

It’s also the latest in a series of horrifying black mob attacks on whites that have been occurring for the last few years.

Ace wonders:

Is Obama going to say anything? Call at least one of the victims? Attempt to bring calm? Attempt a “Sister Souljah” moment (which could actually benefit him politically) and call out violent black racists?

I don’t see it, but if he did – there would be some major caveat that would play into the left-wing racialist narrative – you can bank on that.

Barack Obama – Married to the Mob

In her latest column, Ann Coulter commented on the false narrative that the left wing media nurtured for nearly two weeks in the wake of the tragic Trayvon Martin killing.

On the basis of little else, the media conjured a Hollywood script: A “white” man was “stalking” a little black kid — who could be Obama’s son! — confronted him, beat him senseless as the small black child screamed for help, and finally shot the kid dead, “just because he was black.”

Two weeks of nonstop hysteria later, it turns out that every part of that gripping plot is based on nothing that could be called a reasonable assumption, much less a fact.

In addition to  the numerous angry demonstrations and marches, the non stop hysteria included the  retweeting George Zimmerman’s (incorrect) Home Address, and a million dollar bounty from the New Black Panther party, who are also calling for a militia of 5,000 black volunteers to help capture George Zimmerman. (With still not a peep about this criminal behavior from the DOJ or the White House.)

To understand what is going on, Chairman Ann’s DEMONIC is essential reading: CHAPTER 10: CIVIL RIGHTS AND THE MOB:  GEORGE WALLACE, BULL CONNOR, ORVAL FAUBUS AND OTHER DEMOCRATS:

It was the Democratic Party that ginned up the racist mob against blacks and it is the Democratic Party ginning every new mob today— ironically, all portraying themselves as the equivalent of the Freedom Riders. With real civil rights secure—try to find a restaurant that won’t serve a black person—modern civil rights laws benefit only the mob, not the victims of the mob, as American blacks had been. Just as fire seeks oxygen, Democrats seek power, which is why they will always be found championing the mob whether the mob consists of Democrats lynching blacks or Democrats slandering the critics of ObamaCare as racists.

Democrats have gone from demagoguing white (trash) voters with claims that Republicans are the party of blacks, to demagoguing black voters telling them Republicans are the party of racists. Any mob in a storm.

The liberal fairy tale that Southern bigots simply switched parties, from Democrat to Republican, is exactly wrong. What happened is: The Democrats switched mobs. Democrats will champion any group of hooligans in order to attain power. As Michael Barone said of the vicious segregationist (and Democrat) George Wallace, he was “a man who really didn’t believe in anything—a political opportunist who used opposition to integration to try and get himself ahead.”

This is why the Democrats are able to transition so seamlessly from defending Bull Connor racists to defending Black Panthers, hippies, yippies, Weathermen, feminists, Bush derangement syndrome liberals, Moveon.org, and every other indignant, angry mob.

Imagine if you will – this scene from To Kill a Mockingbird: It begins with Atticus Finch sitting outside the jailhouse where the black man he is defending from the charge of rape is being held. Emotions are running very high among certain elements in the town. A lynch mob approaches, demanding what could be called, “street justice”, or an “eye for an eye”.

“He in there, Mr. Finch?” a man said.

“He is,” we heard Atticus answer, “and he’s asleep. Don’t wake him up.”

In obedience to my father, there followed what I later realized was a sickeningly comic aspect of an unfunny situation: the men talked in near-whispers.

“You know what we want,” another man said. “Get aside from the door, Mr. Finch.”

“You can turn around and go home again, Walter,” Atticus said pleasantly.

What if, instead of that, Atticus had said, “you know what boys,  if I had a sister, she’d look like Mayella.” Would that have been helpful? Would it have defused the situation?  No, it would have made the mob even more to determined to get ‘im.

Now imagine the scene with the President sitting in front of  Zimmerman’s safe house.

When the  reporter asked him to comment on the Trayvon Martin shooting, instead playing into the racial narrative with, “you know, if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon”,  the President could have said, “You know –  I understand emotions are raw in the wake of this tragic incident, but there’s no reason to believe at this point that there was a racial component in the altercation that led to Trayvon’s death.   There’s an investigation going on to see if a crime has been committed, but until there are any charges, and a verdict – in America –  a man is still presumed innocent until proven guilty.

What if the President had pleasantly sent this message to all those people who are marching in the streets,  demonstrating,   ransacking stores, terrorizing innocent people, trying to hunt Zimmerman down: “You can turn around and go home again, folks.”

It is possible to defuse an angry mob – but you have to actually want to.

Sultan of Knish on The Bankrupt Race Card

The fortunes of too many black politicians have been tied to white guilt and black rage. The worst sort of black politician channels black rage to score points with black supporters while playing on the guilt of white voters, promising to heal the social conditions that bring about that anger and protect them from its ravages. But never before has that game been played out of the Oval Office.

The last two Democratic presidents were Southern governors, but the current occupant is a veteran of the corrupt urban political machine where there are only two games in town and when the money runs out, this is the one you play. The money is running out, the polls are running down and accordingly we have been treated to an episode of grievance theater, with our beloved leader in the role of healer and inciter.

Obama helped Al Sharpton achieved an unprecedented national profile in order to marshal that part of his base which cares less about jobs, than about finding someone to blame. The Trayvon Martin circus is a bullhorn urging that all of us, black or white, to stop focusing on the economy and start focusing on race.

It’s Community Activism 101 to divide and conquer the electorate by breaking them down and feeding local anxieties, whether it’s about birth control or racial injustice. And it’s a win-win for Obama, who at worst gains a distraction from economic turmoil and a few thousand guilty voters and at best, upends the national dialogue by asserting the dominance of the racial narrative. While his associates wield the bullhorns, he carefully plays healer and if there is violence, then his currency as racial healer increases.

What does it say about America that what was once a form of political theater rising out of the grimy urban blocks of the failed city is now a national art form? Nothing good. A local dysfunction has become a national dysfunction, not because every city has become New York and Chicago, but because the people at the center of power hail from New York and Chicago.

Meanwhile, the burning tensions in the  city of Sanford, FL are like a  “tinderbox” ready to blow.

The Left’s Trayvon Martin Narrative Falling Apart at the Seams But Obama May Still Get His Race War

The left’s chosen narrative about Obama’s would be son, Trayvon Martin, originally portrayed in the media as a skittles wielding innocent,  who was provoked into a confrontation by an  stalking,   white, white Hispanic, Hispanic, racist, vigilante killer, has taken a few hits, these last few days.

Let’s review, in case you’re not up to speed on it all.

Registered Democrat George Zimmerman Says Trayvon Martin Tried to Take His Gun

The reporter who has been working the case, and one of Zimmerman’s friends appeared on Hannity, last night to discuss the case. You’ll quickly see how the racial narrative takes another hit, here:

When the story first came out, I declined to publish an opinion about it because at first I didn’t have a solid opinion other than, “what a terrible thing!” I wasn’t willing to make the leap that Zimmerman was motivated by racism, anymore than I was willing to make the leap that Martin was in the neighborhood for nefarious purposes. There were plenty of things about the case to be troubled about, and there still are – but there just wasn’t enough information to know. Since everyone else was talking about it, I clammed up.

Not that I wasn’t tempted to comment on the oh-so predictable,  emotion-based hysterics of the racialist left, complete with Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Louis Farrakhan sticking their race-baiting noses into the fray. Al Sharpton, of all people should know from past experience to be more reserved – his rhetoric has inspired violent mobs in the past.

In addition to libeling innocent men in the Tawana Brawley hoax, ginning up angry mobs outside the Central Park jogger’s rapists’ trial, whipping up mobs after a car accident in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood killed a black child and a rabbinical student was stabbed to death, Sharpton famously incited an anti-Semitic pogrom against a Jewish-owned clothing store in Harlem, saying, “We will not stand by and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business.”

Someone who was listening to Sharpton later decided to storm the store and start shooting, wounding several employees, and setting a fire that killed seven people.

And here he is whipping up the  mob, once again:

“We are tired of going to jail for nothing and others going home for something. Zimmerman should have been arrested that night … you cannot defend yourself against a pack of Skittles and iced tea. Don’t talk to us like we’re stupid! Don’t talk to us like we’re ignorant! We love our children like you love yours. Lock him up!”

Um, no. Based on all of the information we now have, the police had no reason to arrest Zimmerman that night, and it’s disgusting that Al Sharpton – who should know better! – would get in front of an emotional crowd, and say something like that.

Now we have celebrities retweeting George Zimmerman’s Home Address, and a million dollar bounty from the New Black Panther party, who are also calling for a militia of 5,000 black volunteers to help capture George Zimmerman.

Has the President of the United States used his bully pulpit to calm the waters and condemn any of this dangerous incitement?

No, shockingly enough, he fanned the flames by focusing on the color of Martin’s skin: “But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin: If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon. And I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are gonna take this with the seriousness it deserves and that we’re going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”

As always with the Community Organizer, the crisis is used to divide Americans.

Newt Gingrich aptly noted in a recent radio interview, “We should all be horrified no matter what the ethnic background. Is the president suggesting that if it had been a white who had been shot that would be ok because it didn’t look like him?”

He went added that it’s “just nonsense dividing this country up. It is a tragedy this young man was shot. It would have been a tragedy if he had been Puerto Rican or Cuban or if he had been white or if he had been Asian American of if he’d been a Native American. At some point we ought to talk about being Americans. When things go wrong to an American. It is sad for all Americans.”

A conservative black blogger points out the double standard:

If the Klu Klux Klan or the Aryan Brotherhood came out and openly stated that they were going to issue a bounty and form a posse for the capture of a black man, how long do you think it would be before those involved would be arrested for racial intimation, conspiracy to commit a hate crime etc? Of course, it would be almost instant and rightfully so in that case. So how is it possible that the NBPP is able to stand out in the open and issue a bounty on a citizen who hasn’t been charged by the government with a crime?

A New Black Panther Leader was arrested on Monday on a weapons charge unrelated to the issuing of the bounty.

Meanwhile, we wait in vain for the President to do the right thing and condemn the overheated rhetoric that has caused  Zimmerman to be in hiding since the story hit the news.

After all, the storyline was almost made to order for his election year race-card strategy: black victim/ white, white Hispanic, Hispanic guilt – facts be damned.

SSC officials released a statement saying, “Due to the highly charged and high-profile controversy involving this student, Seminole State has taken the unusual but necessary step this week to withdraw Mr. Zimmerman from enrollment. This decision is based solely on our responsibility to provide for the safety of our students on campus as well as for Mr. Zimmerman.”

Will there now be mass media gimmick demonstrations demanding his reinstatement, claiming discrimination? Hmmm, I think not.

ObamAmerica is turning into a European Socialist state in more ways than one. Guilty before proven innocent would appear to be  the new order.

…we’ve just come off this period where the left goes on the attack against Rush Limbaugh for making a comment about a woman that he apologizes for. They want to drive him off air, go after his advertisers. And meanwhile, you have these people who show up at these rallies who are basically calling for unlawful attacks or killings or capture of an individual who has not yet been charged with anything and there is a collective yawn from the left. Imagine if a white radical group asked for a bounty on the head of a black man who hadn’t been accused of a crime. What do you think Jesse Jackson and Al Sharptonwould be saying then?”Rev. Jackson recently advocated for a measured, non-violent response to the Martin case, telling a Fox affiliate in Orlando that people “would do well to remain disciplined, focused and non-violent. Any diversion from that takes attention away from Zimmerman and Trayvon and the family. I hope we remain in the face of all these provocations, focused and non-violent. We need to keep the focus on Trayvon, and who killed him and how that killing will be processed.”

“Why does the left remain utterly silent,” Ingraham continued, “when a man has not been accused of anything, yet, and not been charged with anything basically has his own life put in jeopardy by a radical organization that feels free to show up at these rallies and also menace people at the polls?”

“Eric Holder is not going to investigate the Black Panthers,” she concluded.

Do the Obama administration racialists think we don’t notice the double standard?

The #OWS Hall Of Shame: Democrats Who Support/Supported The Occupy Wall Street Movement

On January 14 of this year, I wrote a piece about all of the craven liberal opportunists who shamelessly jumped on the ‘blame Sarah Palin and the Tea party’ bandwagon in the wake of the Tucson shooting that resulted in nineteen people being shot, including a still recovering Dem Rep Gabrielle Giffords. There were six fatalities in that awful attack.

In The Tucson Massacre’s Hall Of Shame: Liberals Who Used Tragedy To Smear The Right, I cataloged all of the shameless and foolhardy liberals who jumped at the chance to implicate an entire movement, and their leaders, (most notably Sarah Palin) as accessories to the crime. They did this before anything was even known about the assailant.

Ironically, many of  the shameless and foolhardy Dems who embraced the false narrative that uncivil Tea Party rhetoric inspired the Tucson shooter – are the same shameless and foolhardy Dems who embraced the truly violent and perverse #OWS movement. Back in January, the MSM did it’s best to push a fictional connection between the Tea Party and the Tucson violence, while in recent weeks, it did it’s best to protect the #Occupy movement from exposure with constant assurances that it was “largely peaceful” – that is – until the violence and moonbattery became too conspicuous to hide. In both cases the inevitable truth would eventually escape past the MSM gatekeepers to the masses.

John Nolte of Big Government sums up what finally happened with the #OWS movement, here:

Thanks to the rise of New Media and our unwillingness to let the MSM’s lies, bias, and cover ups stand for even one more day, Occupy is in its death throes and might take the President and Democratic party down with it. First and foremost, we uncovered the lie that Occupy was grassroots and then we exposed every Occupy rape, poop, death, overdose, old woman thrown down the stairs, attack on a police officer, and public act of masturbation. In the process, public opinion turned against the Occupiers and as a result these Leftists have started doing what the Left always does when they lose, have a tantrum.

Now that #OWS is in its death throes, and liberals are busy trying to disassociate themselves from it, I’m happy to do my part exposing those among them who enthusiastically endorsed the #Occupy Freak Show (especially the ones who are up for re-election.) Special derision and demerits goes to those who insultingly tried to compare #OWS to the Tea Party.

President Obama:

“The most important thing we can do right now is those of us in leadership letting people know that we understand their struggles and we are on their side, and that we want to set up a system in which hard work, responsibility, doing what you’re supposed to do, is rewarded,” Obama tells ABC News. “And that people who are irresponsible, who are reckless, who don’t feel a sense of obligation to their communities and their companies and their workers that those folks aren’t rewarded.”

Obama was one of the first to compare #OWS to the Tea Party:

“I understand the frustrations being expressed in those protests,” Obama told ABC News senior White House correspondent Jake Tapper in an exclusive interview from Jamestown, N.C.

“In some ways, they’re not that different from some of the protests that we saw coming from the Tea Party. Both on the left and the right, I think people feel separated from their government. They feel that their institutions aren’t looking out for them,” he said.

Joe Biden:

“What is the core of that protest, and why is it increasing in terms of the people it’s attracting — the core is the bargain has been breeched with the American people,” Biden said. “The core is the American people do not think the system is fair or on the level…..That is the core of what you’re seeing on Wall Street. And that’s what started, by the way — there’s a lot in common with the Tea Party. The Tea Party started why? TARP. They thought it was unfair — we were bailing out the big guy.”

Except the Tea Party directed its protests not toward Wall Street, but toward Big Government.

Nancy Pelosi:

During a press conference Thursday afternoon, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi praised those participating in the “Occupy Wall Street” protests. “God bless them,” Pelosi said, “for their spontaneity. It’s independent … it’s young, it’s spontaneous, and it’s focused. And it’s going to be effective.”

DCCC:

Elizabeth Warren:

“I created much of the intellectual foundation for what they do. I support what they do.” This quote, from Massachusetts Democratic senatorial candidate Elizabeth Warren, can be found in this otherwise unremarkable (and poorly written) article by Daily Beast writer Samuel Jacobs.

Once the #occupy movement lost public support,  Warren refused to sign off on the Occupy Harvard petition.

Barney Frank:

Frank said he supports the movement “to the extent that they obey the law” and that he wishes “that kind of energy was around two years ago when we were voting on the financial reform bill. We’d have a tougher bill.”

He said this while in the process of taking more donations from those rich Wall Street “fat cats”.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz:

“We understand their frustration, we applaud their activism and hopefully they’re going to help get the Republicans in Washington’s attention so we shift the Republican’s focus from just Barack Obama’s job, to everyone’s job,” she said of the protesters.

Since the Occupy Wall Street protests started Democrats have been largely supportive of the protests which many lawmakers are using to paint Republicans as out of touch with the concerns of middle-class Americans.

Sherrod Brown:

“I think the energy coming out of the Wall Street protesters is always
a good thing. When people non-violently speak out and stand for something,
it’s good to challenge authority when they do that.”

Brown went all in for #OWS with this posting on his campaign website:

Reps. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) in a joint statement, said:

“We share the anger and frustration of so many Americans who have seen the enormous toll that an unchecked Wall Street has taken on the overwhelming majority of Americans while benefiting the super-wealthy,” Reps. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) said in a joint statement.

“We join the calls for corporate accountability and expanded middle-class opportunity.”

John Larson (D-Conn.):

“The silent masses aren’t so silent anymore. They are fighting to give voice to the struggles that everyday Americans are going through.”

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.):

“All of us should join that movement.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.):

“We have the crooks on Wall Street, and I use that word advisedly—don’t misquote me, the word is ‘crooks’—whose greed, whose recklessness, whose illegal behavior caused this terrible recession with so much suffering. We believe in this country; we love this country; and we will be damned if we’re going to see a handful of robber barons control the future of this country.”

Remarkably, considering the caution of so many elected officials with regard to the protests, Sanders actually called for a toughening of the movement’s anti–Wall Street message. “I applaud those protesters who are out there, who are focusing attention on Wall Street, but what we’ve got to do is put meat on that bone,” he said. “We’ve got to make demands on Wall Street [and] break those institutions up.”

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY):

Our junior senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, stated the obvious October 10 when she told The National memo she thinks Occupy Wall Street. “has become a vehicle for people to vent their frustration with the economy.”
“I share the frustration at how broken Washington has become in forging solutions,” Ms. Gillibrand said.

Harlem House rep Chuck Rangel:

“I was very surprised, but very pleased, that this group of people just came out. I don’t really think that they have to have any solutions for the problem. It reminds me of the movie “Network,” where the guy just yells out his window, ‘I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore!”

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio)  released a Web video praising the “Occupy Wall Street” protesters and calling on Americans to support their efforts:

“Your presence is making a difference. You’re exercising the right every American holds most dear, the right of freedom of expression, and with that expression you’re finally getting the attention of the nation,” said Kucinich in the video released Tuesday.

“Wall Street banks got billion dollar bailouts, yet the American people get austerity,” he added.

Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.):

“It’s time for all Americans to pay their fair share,” Slaughter, the ranking Democrat on the House Rules Committee, said in a statement. “And I’m so proud to see the Occupy Wall Street movement standing up to this rampant corporate greed and peacefully participating in our democracy.”

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) visited the Occupy Providence camp in an effort rally support for his bill that cracks down on high credit card interest rates.

According to a report from the Associated Press, Whitehouse was impressed with the cleanliness and orderliness of the Occupy camp.

Despite Senator Whitehouse’s visit to the camp, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and Public Safety Commissioner Pare are still determined to force the Occupy protesters – through legal action – out of Burnside Park.

“Public Safety officials have identified level 3 sex offenders among those occupying the park and the City of Providence has concern for the people staying at night due to this reason,” Lague told New England Post. “We are working to ensure the safety.

Senator Patty Murray statement:

Senator Murray understands the frustration that is driving these protests in Seattle and across the country. So many workers and middle class families have been devastated in this economic crisis, and most Americans agree that it’s only fair that big corporations and the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share and share in the sacrifice this moment requires.

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) appeared on MSNBC’s Politics Nation to lend her voice to Occupy groups across the country:

“The Occupy Wall Street, and the Occupy movement, have made a real difference.”

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA):

When asked to comment Wednesday about the deaths and crimes that have occurred around Occupy protests being held across the country, Rep. Maxine Waters said “that’s life and it happens.”

“That’s a distraction from the goals of the protesters,” Waters, who says she supports the Occupy movement, told CNSNews.com after an event at the Capitol sponsored by the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

“Let me just say this: Anytime you have a gathering, homeless people are going to show up,” said Waters. “They will find some comfort in having some other people out on the streets with them. They’re looking for food. Often times, the criminal element will invade. That’s life and it happens, whether it’s with protesters or other efforts that go on in this country.

“So I’m not deterred in my support for them because of these negative kinds of things,” said Waters. “I just want them to work at doing the best job that they can do to bring attention to this economic crisis and the unfairness of the system at this time.”

Waters isn’t deterred because she knows the gatekeepers are hard at work characterizing anti-capitalist revolutionaries as frustrated but peaceful protesters.

As John Nolte of Big Government wrote:

One of the secret weapons the corrupt mainstream media uses in their never-ending quest to Palace Guard for the left is context. For example, when it came to the Tea Party, the MSM was notorious for amplifying a single incident (that was usually a lie) and using it to attempt to smear and define an entire movement. This is what you do when you want to quickly take out a political enemy.

The MSM’s contextual game changes, however, when their desire is to strengthen a movement and give it credibility and room to grow. By dutifully reporting individual incidents but not reporting on the growing scope and size of Occupy Wall Street lawlessness, the MSM is willfully covering up the violence, vandalism, and anti-Semitism that truly does define this movement.

See Nolte’s Rap Sheet, which now has over 300 #OWS violations listed, at the link.

The campaign to Defeat Barack Obama created this video to point out the Dems’ shamelessness:

Zombie’s report at PJ  Media; The 99%: Official list of Occupy Wall Street’s supporters, sponsors and sympathizers shows you the types of nefarious characters and groups that joined the Democrats in support of this decrepit movement. It’s a damning list that includes, Communist revolutionaries, Islamists, and Nazis. Basically the same bunch that supported Barack Obama for President.

Finally, via The Jawa Report, a side by side comparison of Tea Party vs. #Occupy infractions. As you can see, there is no comparison, and those who tried to make one were trying to put lipstick on a pig.

Sorry, Dems. You own this:

What A Real Mob Looks Like

-#OccupyDC pic via The Daily Caller

RS McCain was in the thick of the action, last weekend in DC, when the #OccupyDC “hippie horde” mobbed attendees of the Americans For Prosperity Defending the American Dream Summit. His first-hand account of what transpired and his additional thoughts can be read at the American Spectator: The Mob That Came To Dinner.

“WE! ARE! THE NINETY-NINE PERCENT!”

“WE! ARE! THE NINETY-NINE PERCENT!”

The rhythmic chant, kept in time by the accompaniment of a drummer, eventually deteriorated into chaotic shouting as the mob crowded around the entrance to the Washington Convention Center. A young woman held aloft her homemade 11-by-17-inch sign: “OCCUPY” with three red stars, a crude simulation of the District of Columbia flag. Flashes from dozens of digital cameras intermittently illuminated the frenzied scene by the glass doors, which were guarded by Metropolitan Police officers attempting to prevent the Occupy DC protesters from shoving their way inside.

“Peaceful! Peaceful!” some of the mob members shouted, as the self-declared “99 percent” were clearly on the verge of a full-scale riot Friday night outside the venue where the Americans for Prosperity (AFP) Foundation was holding its annual Defending the American Dream Summit. Before the evening was over, elderly women attending the “Tribute to Ronald Reagan” dinner would be shoved to the ground and three Occupiers would be struck by a car, but those incidents transpired later, after the protesters attempted to storm the doors of the Convention Center.

Here’s video taken by Kerry Pickett from the Washington Times:

Occupy DC protesters attempted to bust into the Washington DC Convention Center on Friday night, where an Americans for Prosperity dinner was taking place. Protesters aimed their ire at AFP donors Charles and David Koch throughout the night. Interestingly, David walked through the crowd of protesters with friends and associates of his and went completely unnoticed by the Occupy DC crowd. I captured video of a throng of protesters trying to muscle past security at the DC Convention Center to no avail.

Twenty two year old Laurel Buckley also wrote of her struggle to leave the convention center after a long, tiring day of “meeting endless individuals to plead for names, email addresses, and donations to the 501(c)(3) that I work for.”

I’m directed to yet another exit. Picking up my load I follow several terrified elderly women being helped by their senior husbands up stairs, through a corridor, and down another flight of stairs only to face another door full of twenty-somethings blocking the exit.

At this point I was getting a little irritated. An irritation that grew when I was pushed back inside and had fists shaken in my face by men much bigger and physically stronger than me. I know D.C. is not known for its chivalry, but never before in my life have I faced little boys, posing as men, using physical force to intimidate women. Perhaps it was the long workday, perhaps it was the wine from dinner, maybe it was my feet tired from walking all over the D.C. convention center in heels, but this was the point at which I lost it. I screamed in frustration for these little punks to quite protesting and get a job. I yelled for them to just let me go home after doing an honest day’s work. I received the mature response of curses, being flipped off, and the ever so classy, chest exposure. (What does that even mean?)

Finally, I was directed to an open exit. Out the building and on my way home. Past a group of young male protesters, still hurling their insults.

All I could think was what a waste. What did this pathetic protest accomplish? Occupy D.C., was it your mission to terrify elderly women? Was it your goal to make a 22-year-old, unarmed woman fear leaving work and getting home on her own — in her own neighborhood? Was it to entrap hundreds of convention goers inside the convention center so that next time you could burn the place down with them inside?

If I could I would have told them: I hope I’m not the only one-percenter. I will go to bed tonight praying that there are no more that 1% of you in the world. Because if I have to believe that there are more like you, more selfish punks with a complete, criminal disregard for other people, I dread what the future holds in store for our generation — and our country.

78-year-old Dolores Broderson was one of two women injured by the protesters outside the Americans for Prosperity Dinner, Friday night. She went to the emergency room with a bloody nose and bruises on her hand and leg.

According to The Daily Caller Koch group staffers and event attendees say  911 hung up On them four times during occupy DC mob:

“I was about to call ‘show’ and realized that we had a lot of protesters during the middle of program,” Engdahl said in a Saturday afternoon interview. “We realized it had gotten to the point where, even though the convention center had been calling and working with [Metropolitan Police Department], we needed to call them and make sure we had a game plan for people to get out of the building safely and back to their rooms or to their home.”

Engdahl said she called 911 in the middle of the show and told them the protesters appeared organized with a plan of attack as they had all the convention center exits blocked.

“I did mention [on the 911 call] how coordinated I thought the protesters’ effort was, as well as how ill-prepared both MPD and the Convention Center were in communicating together on how best to solve the problem,” she explained.

“I said that I didn’t want it to rise to where we had a confrontation or other problems – and they hung up on me,” Engdahl said, adding that she and other AFP staffers and volunteers had made at least four 911 calls from inside the convention center asking for help.

Remember how we laughed when the left and the MSM (but I repeat myself) kept saying the Tea Party was a “mob”.

Remember how we giggled when Team Obama called out the SWAT team to restrain the Quincy’s geriatric  tea partiers?:

Regardless of the incessant MSM scaremongering,  the tea party never erupted into violence. Not once. The very idea was mock-worthy and mock we did.

Now, tea partiers, after years of being accused by liberals in the media of being on the verge of mob violence,  are treated to the spectacle of the same  MSM down-playing the truly grotesque, and scary mob behavior of the #Occupy crowd.

How much MSM play did  the #OccupyDC mob violence get over the weekend? I’m guessing what little coverage it got was cushioned with assurances that the #occupy movement is “mostly peaceful”.

Why does the MSM keep downplaying the violence at these  protests?

In his post about the need for rape shelters at #OWS protests, even Allahpundit is floored by the galling  media double standard:

This can’t be repeated enough: With a few exceptions, foremost among them the New York Post, the coverage of OWS protests compared to the coverage of tea-party protests is the worst media double standard in recent history.

I’ve been tracking it all at Left-Wing Institute For Civil Discourse, and trust me, this is not a peaceful, mainstream movement.   There’s so much insanity happening on so many fronts, I’ve been struggling to keep up. I’ve added a new feature – Moonbat Headlines which can be seen at the top of the right sidebar. (I’ve also expanded header.)

As RS McCain summed up in his post at The American Spectator, the Occupy movement’s claim to represent the economic grievances of the American majority is belied by their thuggish behavior.

Their convergence at the AFP event only accentuated the contrast between the protest mob’s barbarism and the civilized behavior of their targets. The Tea Party represents the law-abiding, tax-paying, middle-class mainstream while Occupy DC represents an unpopular radical fringe. Despite their chants, the Occupiers are not the 99 percent, and perhaps not even 9 percent.

Yet a recent online poll of 1,005 American adults reveals that 35 percent still have a positive impression of the Occupy movement, while just 29 percent hold a favorable view of the tea party. A result that sick and  twisted does not happen without a lot of help from the MSM.
