Bottom Feeding Democrats

A recent study (confirming what we all suspected), has shown that felons vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.

On average, 74 percent of felons would have voted Democratic in presidential and U.S. Senate elections dating back to 1972, according to the study’s analysis of demographic and voting data.

Which is why, (as Ann Coulter so aptly puts it), Democrats are neurotically obsessed with restoring the right to vote to felons. (See here, and here, and here, and here for examples).

Well, why shouldn’t felons vote after they’ve paid their debt to society? As John Lott, who has written extensively on this subject says, Simply because society believes that the debt includes a prohibition on voting.

But while Democrats blather on and on about disenfranchisement, and racism, their true motive for this particular hobby horse is the usual power grab for votes.

In a related story, Nebraska authorities are pushing forward with their case against The Westboro Baptist Church, of Topeka KS, for breaking a Nebraska law against trampling on the flag. The Phelps family are of course, well known supporters of the Democratic party.

Al Gore accepted…wait, did I say accepted? I meant sought the support of Phelps, and received it in 1988.

Maybe it’s a little unfair to tie the Phelps’ with the Democratic Party. After all, Ted Bundy was an active Republican. Democrats wouldn’t claim Phelps as one of their own any more than Republicans would claim Bundy. But the thing is, Phelps also has a history as a Democratic politician, running for governor of Kansas in 1990, 1994, and 1998, after he started picketing the funerals of AIDS victims, getting 15% of the Democratic vote in his last try. He ran for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate, in 1992, getting nearly 31% of the primary vote. He also ran for mayor of Topeka in 1997. FrontPageMagazine has more on The Phelps’ Democratic history.

Fred Phelps certainly resonated more with Democratic voters than say, Republicans did.

You know, Republicans may be stupid (sometimes), but at least they’re not bottom-feeding scumbags.

What’s This I Hear?

I know I promised not to say any more about our hero, John Smeaton, but The News Of The World just snagged another interview with the man, and he was sounding very chipper, and unlike the interview I linked to here, he seemed taken aback, but quite amused at all of the attention he’s been receiving.

The day after his heroics at the Glasgow Airport, he went to work as usual, but soon found that he was in “no fit shape for work”.

“I couldn’t concentrate and kept feeling over-emotional,” he said. “In the end my boss said to take as much time off as I need to get over it.

“So I’ve been trout fishing and played on the Xbox — they’re the two great loves of my life.”

For the next 24 hours, John was blissfully unaware of his growing fame — until a friend showed him the website set up in his honour.

He said: “I went straight on it and I had the best laugh I’ve had in years. I’m pleased people have found humour in something so serious.”

It looks like he’s been enjoying a few of the 1,200 pints that Brits through the website, John Smeaton – Hero For Our Time donated.

Check out the video at Hotair, and you’ll…uh, see what I mean.
