Paultards trying to subvert the National Convention (posted by Beth)

I saw this at Digg (where else?) last week, but ignored it after burying it. It seems, though, that Paultards are quite serious about hijacking the Republican Convention. If you don’t want to see the “plan” at the Paultards’ blogs, read it here. Snip:

*The Strategy:*

The strategy therefore must be to get as many Ron Paul delegates selected to represent their states at the National Convention.

That means our delegates need to stay low-key.

Resolutions are a dead giveaway, especially when they are fought over things like opposition to the war, or abolishing the Federal Reserve and the IRS, all signature issues of Ron Paul.

So, the best plan is to shut up, move along, do what you have to do to get selected, sign the pledge to “support” McCain (it doesn’t say you promise not to abstain!) and just get in short of outright lying, of course.

If there are any ethical concerns about this supposed “stealth tactic,” think about what ethical concerns you may have if you allow McCain to become president by your inaction. [Continue reading…]

Ethics? We don’t need no stinkin’ ethics! It’s REVOLUTION! Forget about the sheeple’s votes, this is a coup!

At least one person is fighting back. Heather Johnson of Moms4Mitt.com:

I am a Mitt fan and have a blog for his support. But I have also pledged on my blog my support for McCain as a our GOP nominee. I am trying to do my part in stopping these Ron Paul fans from overtaking the convention with their agenda nonsense and just get McCain officially nominated.

Heather is trying to just GET to the convention, but she needs help (financially) getting there. If you can drop a few shekels her way, you’ll be doing your part to shut up these asshat Paultards. Make no mistake, they are extremely well-organized (online activity and caucus results should tell you that much) and you can be sure they’ll make their presence known at the National Convention. Unless you want to see the GOP have an even more f’d up convention than it looks like the Dems will have, the Paultard kiddies must be stopped.

Ron Paul has even given tacit support to this idea (or that’s how it’ll be read by his fanatic supporters), while leaving his options open for a third party run:

“I’ll be very cautious about what I do,” he said, noting his effort to encourage his supporters to get involved with their local Republican committee.

And you know Ron Paul–he’s a stickler for the last letter of the Constitution. If it can be interpreted to allow this “loophole” that can get him nominated–or at the very least, create chaos–it’s A-OK. He’ll say this is exactly what the Constitution was designed for. (Nevermind the votes for the candidates–the votes for delegates matter more? LOL.)

Please help Heather out – I absolutely vouch for her honesty and ethics 100%. She needs help getting to the Convention, and we need to put the final nail in the Paultard coffin of crazy once and for all.

Ron Paul Revolution OVER

  2. Yikes, this has your neck hairs up huh?
I agree with your analysis of many Paul supporters. They annoy the heck out of me as well.
Now forgive me for maybe not agreeing with the common line on this one but the more I see of McCain and the more I listen to the Libertarian ideals and the message of Ron Paul, the more I move in that direction. I have already decided I will not vote for McCain.

So are you upset at Paul’s message? His supporters tactics? Or the fact that him on a ballot may tilt the vote towards the socialist? What about Bob Barr?

    I dreamed of Thompson
    I settled for Mitt
    I puke at McCain

  3. Buffoon,
Honestly, I don’t even know how to begin answering. I could write a book answering your questions.
RP’s message? What, of absolutist, rigid paleolibertarianism? Yes, I oppose it. There are shades of truth in certain things he is for, but that can be said about just about anyone; I can even find common ground with some Democrats. Just because he’s right about SOME things doesn’t mean I’d ever vote for him (or any Democrat, for that matter).
His supporters’ tactics? ABSOLUTELY. Not their ability to organize and raise money, but the other wildly unethical (and at times, illegal) activities. (Plenty of which have been documented at my blog.)
I’m also extremely put off by their anti-Semitic tones, with this “war for Israel/Zionists/neocons” BS. They’re all (meaning RP included) delusional in the extreme about foreign policy–“noninterventionism,” as they call it, is absurd theory for THIS COUNTRY in THIS CENTURY. It’s Utopian fantasy, and I despise fantasy-chasing Utopians.

As far as RP being on a ballot, he’s been on every ballot. I don’t care if he’s on a ballot; he’s not getting any votes. It’s the supporters stupid plan to subvert the will of the voters who chose–whether you like it or not–John McCain. The truth is, most people are closer to John McCain than they are to Fred Thompson (unfortunately, because I was also a Fredhead). It would be stupid for me to demand Fred! be the nominee now, though, knowing he would lose in 2008, just so….what? So I could say my nominee was Fred Thompson? No.

Bob Barr. Heh. That dude is a world-class nutter, and belongs in the Libertarian Party. Don’t even get me started on him. He’s a farkin’ joke.

I’m a former Fredhead, but more to the point, I’ve always been a Reagan conservative. That’s why I’m absolutely voting for John McCain. Not just for the party (as some think), but because I can get FAR more of what I want with him than I ever will with Barry Obama, Ron Paul, or Bob Barr (esp. since RP and BB will NEVER be elected). Hell, I’ll get more of what I want by voting for McCain than if I vote for Fred, for that matter, since Fred isn’t gonna win either.

As a strong supporter of McCain’s, I only ask that you give his candidacy a fair review. Not from the same old McCain-hating places, but from McCain supporters (even if not from me). The Presidency deserves an honest, fair-minded consideration. Sure, McCain is wrong on some stuff in my mind, but I can live with those things. Sometimes you have to compromise to get things done, to get what you want in the end. It’s how politics have always worked since the beginning of time. Where compromise doesn’t work, people go to war or one side just plain surrenders. By insisting on absolutes, WE ARE SURRENDERING.

In fact, Ron Paul provides the perfect example of what happens with ideological purists–he has had nothing passed in Congress that he’s for. Nothing. He is quite simply THE most ineffectual Congressman on the Hill. Is that how we want to advance the conservative agenda? By getting absolutely nothing implemented in public policy and getting nobody elected?

  5. Food for thought, thanks, you may have talked me in from the ledge, the windows still open though 🙂

Your right, there is no perfect candidate, you can’ t make everyone happy, all the time…

I just feel like us on the right are slowly having to concede ideological real estate to the left, and I’m sick of backing up…
